I can honestly say you’ve helped me an insane amount through my journey. The moment I found out I was dangerously close to becoming type 2 diabetic i changed my eating habits that exact day and your videos have made it so much easier. Fasting and eating healthy has become very easy to me now and just in 3 weeks I lost 20 lbs. I’m on month 3 and I have a doctors appointment coming up and for the first time in my life I’m excited for it. I’m even walking an hour every day now, and other than a few drizzles of sauces with my meals I haven’t had a single grain of added sugar since my initial results came in. Thank you so much and keep ‘em coming!

I second what this dude just said! I've lost 80 lb in 6 months and with a really busy schedule as difficult for me to exercise as much as I would like so this is pretty much strictly off of diet and trying to remain in ketosis I try to stick with underneath 30 g of carbohydrates a day but sometimes I go up to about 40 did I don't know how much I've improved my insulin resistance but my A1C drop back down to normal range at 5.4 in my blood sugar after eating half a rotisserie chicken was 80 so I think I'm doing massively better and I just feel better all the time compared to how I was 80 lb to go with high blood sugar..

Kait, you are helping to change my thinking about my wife’s rice cooking technique. Latina’s “fry” the rice in a layer of oil, much like making risotto. After the oil is absorbed they add water. I used to think this was terrible but after arguing about it with her, her triglycerides are low and numbers are good. Go figure- lol. Oh - she did compromise and uses olive oil now.

Hello I’ve done keto off and on for the past 6 years and it’s great. I always used to think my insulin spikes came from being pre-diabetic. It just isn’t the whole truth. I recently discovered that I have Hashimoto’s Disease and that there is an endemic of Hashi’s right now. Understanding Hashimoto’s has helped me understand even more about keto and how to make it more sustainable. I definitely didn’t expect what I found I thought I already was an expert. Great content thanks for promoting the best diet! 🎉

a good approach to making changes to one's diet. The most surprising ones on your list for me were fresh-squeezed juices and dried fruit. (but of course it made perfect sense when you explained why). Since I have chosen to be gluten free as well as avoiding sugary foods and eating mostly fermented dairy like plain yogurt (drinking milk or eating regular dairy products causes digestive problems) for many years, I think I may have fewer changes to implement. My thanks for your informational video -- a great guide to create healthier options for meals.

These all seem obvious to me now, but I probably ate 13/14 regularly before. For me, only drinking water after I used to drink soda (pop), gatorade, and orange juice has probably made the biggest difference. Whether it is the empty calories or the sugar crashes or the satiation, I think that is a place that a lot of people can start.

Hey! Hi! Not much for me to add, as I pretty much agree with you. What I will say is that years ago I was pre-diabetic., and when I found out, went clean keto. I lost fat so fast, my head nearly spun off my shoulders. Also, in FOUR months, my A1C dropped to 5.1 (it's 4.9 now). I eventually add some complex carbs back into the diet, as I was simply losing too much fat. However, I was careful about them - (well washed) brown basmati (least junky rice there), sprouted grain bread, etc. Maybe I am lucky in that I find anything sweet to be revolting. Now that I've bored you, I'll bid you a take it easy.

    • @heavenlyflower_sl

me too... somehow i managed to train myself that baked goods are revolting. i used to devour baked goods n bread abnormally, over a couple of months my fasting blood sugar was higher than last year's checkup, altho still in normal range. i'm older so i knew this wont last long n my metabolism would go haywire if i kept this up, i knew somethings gotta give so i ate a lot of healthy fat (olive oil, half big avocado a day, peanuts/cashews i roasted myself so no salt), n now when i went to coffee shop or passed a patisserie i didnt find the breads n pastries interesting anymore. i think that consistently eating low carb does transform my tastebuds n craving

    • @sirdarklust
      @sirdarklust 11 месяцев назад

@@heavenlyflower_sl My problem years back wasn't sweets or snack foods but main course refined carb laden foods, like pizza, pasta, rice, french fries, corn, etc. My meals were just a load of refined carbs. A few days after getting off that junk, my taste buds were totally different. I just didn't want any of that anymore.

Rice is not the demon its made out to be. If prepared properly. And do not eat freshly cooked and warm. Cook the rice days ahead, same with potato's, almost any starchy veggie food. Boil the potato's / rice, store in the fridge for a cop0ule days, the starch as it cools, and kept cold, transforms to resistance starch which is good for you. Then you can reheat as you wish. Family fav is EVO roasted garlic mashed potato with heavy cream and butter whipped in. Plunk the taters / rice in boiling water to heat up for a few minutes, use and or mash away. My blood sugar doesn't spike in the least 2hrs after.

Agree with many comments. You have to mentally adjust your mind as to what is the real purpose of eating. For those of us who really enjoyed sweet "foods" like chocolate, soft drinks , donuts, cakes etc, once you realise and understand that that these types of sugars and ultra refined carbs are chemically TOXIC to your cell metabolism, then you will (or you will need to) look at food differently. You can easily train yourself to eat for nutrition and not be "conned" by the sugar/fat/salt combination that food manufactures use manipulate to increase consumption of their product ( to get you to buy and eat more).Remember that the business objective of these companies is to make money off you consuming as much of their product as possible at all times of the day. When your health is adversely affected, then the pharma industry steps in and makes money off you in treating the symptoms of your poor diet. So everyone is making money from convincing people to make poor food choices and in keeping them unhealthy for as long as possible - basically from cradle to grave. When you start changing the way and what you eat, initially our taste buds can work against you ( wanting sweet things) but this can easily be overcome once you start on the path of eating for nutrition not eating for that "taste" sensation. It comes down to how you think about food. It comes down to whether you want to pay money to companies that have a vested interest in KEEPING you unhealthy or whether you take control of yourself and resist the psychological / marketing manipulation.

I actually made my own torts, using almond flour, whole psyllium husks, olive oil...got the recipe on-line... because I missed my wraps. 🐈

I used to think i couldnt give up bread or pasta, but it definitely was a lot easier once i started making small changes. My taste buds started to change and i dont want those items anymore. i now crave foods i used to absolutely despise (ie cottage cheese and avocado)
Of all these things, the 1 item i cant give up is tropical fruit, bananas specifically. I eat them just about everyday. I eat them as my dessert, though. I put banana and peanut butter on a low carb wrap and i cant get enough. Thats so much better than the desserts i used to eat and i still get my daily fill of bananas. I have come light years in my health journey just since this past january. Diabetes runs rampant in my family (3 of 5 members of my nuclear family are diabetic) and i knew sooner than later, itd be me. Now, im confident that wont be the case.

My question is I am told I have insulin resistance and unsure how to raise it back up when I'm in the hypoglycemic point. Everything tells you sugar and stuff you shouldn't have🥺🥺 any ideas.

How long does it usually take to get out of insulin resistance?

Depends how long you have had it, how far it has progressed and how aggressive you are in treatment. Could be months, could be years. You will start to see improvements quickly though if you implement the right changes ❤️

I frequently watch a RUclipsr who eats strictly carnivore. But, her only vice is one diet coke per day. Is this okay Kait, because I feel like I can do it if diet coke is alright (coke zero).

It's all about what works for you! Do I recommend diet coke? No. Do some people include it and see results? Yes.

Isolated fructose performs differently than fructose in fruit (title of youtube video by Paul Saladino MD).
Furthermore, incomplete fatty acid oxidation contributes to insulin resistance in heart and muscle.
In "Fatty Acid Oxidation and Its Relation with Insulin Resistance and Associated Disorders"
    by Gary D. Lopaschuk
I don't think a healthy person will get IR from drinking fresh squeezed orange juice first thing in the AM; however, it is entirely possible that someone with an already elevated fasting blood sugar will get IR from drinking that. Note that fruit juices start oxidizing as soon as they are squeezed, and so they are not the same thing even 4 hours after being squeezed. One may get IR from eating oxidized food, as incomplete fatty acid oxidation has been shown to contribute to insulin resistance in heart and muscle. So, a healthy person might get some IR from drinking commercial or old fruit juices because of the oxidation involved. The same is true for raw honey as opposed to heated honey, which is known to be toxic even by the ancient ayurvedic doctors, and we know that most commercial honeys are heated and hence oxidized. The reason some research finds fructose dangerous is that they use isolated fructose to do the experiments, which are done in rats, and so this research does not apply to humans drinking fresh fruit juices or raw honey.
Besides, when you eat an orange, you squeeze the juice in your mouth anyway! And on top of that, we know that the sugars and the liquid part of foods are absorbed first...
