I was diagnosed pre-diabetic. How I kicked it naturally? 1. Got rid of refined sugar. No more soda and fast food. 2. Got rid of carbs. Only complex carbs if I must. No pasta or bread. 3. Keto diet. Meat and veggies, no sauce, everyday. 4. Got rid of beer. Couple glasses of wine if I must. That's it! It's really boring eating but it will keep you alive. I'm Canadian so we measure in NLGs. Started out at 161 and after 6 months my blood sugar level was down to 135. Good luck everyone! It's tough in the beginning but you can do it! Great video!
This is great, good luck on your journey. Should you want to discuss it further with me I offer a one-time Lifestyle Audit. My husband did it...he was prediabetic for over a decade...he went into the diabetic range and didn't want to do medication, plus he had low iron which made the diabetic result void. He cut out sweets and ate low carb...lunch was a big salad with low carb veggies and protein...he was already drinking sugar free drinks although infrequently vs sugared beverages...he lost about 50 pounds and has continued to be 'normal' for over a decade.
*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*

I believe he likes to write prescriptions so I want to prove to him that changing my diet and exercise will make a difference. Thank you for adding to my knowledge.❤

I just got a phone call from my doctor and she said that I do have pre-diabetes. Diabetes runs in my family and I overall know what I should be eating but me and my husband tend to indulge. I need to get back on the right track😅 So thankful that I found this video
I'm 59, not overweight, very good health, active but because of my diet I'm pre-diabetic. Even though my parents have diabetes and the complications I still ate what I wanted. Recently I went through a medical exam for a life insurance policy. Everything was great except my A1C. My insurance company bumped me from preferred status to standard which will cost more. Now I'm here trying to get it right and I thank you for your awesome, clear information and video.

YES! Learned so much. My doc told me pre diabetic in March and said we will discuss in next visit in August! Met with her Tuesday told her very disappointed I had to fend for myself to figure out what to do. Requested an A1C test that confirmed 5.8. If I had found you in March I could have done better because I just learned I was eating wrong foods. Also I requested a vitamin D test, I’m deficient. Also learned from videos, linked to pre diabetes. Sincerely appreciate your videos as the healthcare system is falling short. Turning 75 in September and I’m determined to do it healthier than ever 😉
My doctor told me I was prediabetic and at risk for long term chronic kidney disease if I did not diet, lose weight, and lower my a1c. No info about nutrition.Scared the poo out of me as my Mom passed due to kidney failure. Phone calls do not cut it!
Thank you for mentioning the vitamin D! My test results said I am vitamin D deficient, and I am learning more about what causes pre-diabetes. Going to get Vitamin D today!
Thank you so much! I was diagnosed with prediabetes today and it was a shock- this was the first video I came across and it was extremely informative. 🙏🏾

Thank you, I have subscribed. I am 60 and just had my annual physical and my a1c came back at 5.8 and I am really bewildered. I am very active and most people would say underweight. I do like anything sweet, chocolate milk, candy, cookies, cake, but I eat healthy meals, or so I thought. I didn't think I was overdoing it on sweets but I guess so. When I got my test results I stopped all the sugar cold and interestingly I didn't really feel well for the rest of the week. I am here to learn but I have to admit it all is a bit overwhelming. I am also a bit depressed thinking about giving up my favorite things, chocolate milk and chocolate chip cookies, but I need to just suck it up - lots of people would be happy to be at 5.8 from what I have seen. I feel a heightened empathy for people with diabetes.

Thank you for your videos! My health declined during the pandemic. My stress levels went way up. I started my Ph.D. full time and stopped moving everyday like I used to, gained 15 lbs, and I lost both of my parents within three days of each other. Now I’m going through a big legal battle with a relative trying to take our parents’ home. Stress, not moving, and eating too many carbs made me prediabetic and hypertensive. Your videos are helping get back to my healthy myself. Thank you! I know I can turn this around! 🥰 I have hope again!

Thank you for the easy to understand info! When the dr told me I was pre diabetic and I started looking up all the info, I felt totally overwhelmed and defeated! This broken down info made me feel like this life change is actually doable! Thank you! I look forward to watching more of your tips and education
Same, and my doctor just told me to limit my carb intake to no more than 50grams a day so that had me on a whole keto crazed approach and a fear of carbs. I underate, was unfortunately dehydrated and one night my heart began racing. I thought I was going to die. Long story short, I ate bread and a banana. While apart of me felt guilty, I knew I was depleted and had to start over. Now I'm reevaluating my approach and thankful I found this video.
Are you still pre diabetic? I’m 21 5’7 150 pounds so I’m average weight for my height but I went to the doctor for a check up they said i had a 5.8 i was like howwwww but i realized I do eat a lot of chips candy & junkfood

GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL. before i go see my doctor…what can you say about this
Eat real food. Meat, fish, eggs, non starchy vegetables, butter, lard, olive oil, avocado oil. You want to lower your insulin needs/levels so you can restore your ability to burn fat. Processed food is the problem full of sugar, starches and inflammatory oils.

This was such a wonderful and informative video. I just received a prediabetes diagnosis (5.7% A1C) and this is the most helpful video I've come across thus far! Not only because of the list of foods, but because of the explanation of things to pay attention to, e.g. net carbs! I watched this before I went grocery shopping-- my first grocery trip since receiving diagnosis yesterday-- and this knowledge helped me TREMENDOUSLY. Also going to confirm y choices with a dietitian in a couple days. Thank you, Dr. Nolte!!!! 😊
Hi Ally, just read your comment on Dr Morgan Nolte's 10 Best foods for Pre Diabetes. I was diagnosed just last week with Pre - type 2 diabetes and just wondered how you are doing with the diet ? I Hope that you are doing really well and making very good progress in reversing the condition. I'm very very determined to reverse my diagnosis of PRE - diabetes. Well wishes, Michael.
I'm back to focusing on weight loss. Was diagnosed with pre-d in 2019. Lost weight and lowered my A1C to eventually normal levels. Pandemic hit and gained weight and A1C levels shot up again higher than initially. Then eventually went back to normal. Got lazy and started eating bad again and here I am 2 points away from Diabetes. Made a change and started eating and walking better this week. Thanks!

I found your videos when you interviewed the 51-year-old-gentleman who has been measuring the insulin different foods and reporting how they do or do not make his blood sugars spike. This information is exactly what I need right now. When you say low in carbs....can you give us a number of carbs to be below (per meal?) per day?) I am on the AOIP (Autoimmune Protocol because I have Autoimmune Hashimoto's (thankfully now stable with just 42 antibodies) and several auto-inflammatory skln conditions (HS,LS) so there are foods I need to avoid (like peppers, nightshades, white potatoes, tomatoes mushrooms most carbs- No cows dairy and of course sugars which is no surprise) I already try to focus on the nutrient-dense foods like grass fed beef, organic chicken, salmon, avocados and eggs as well with many different fresh organic vegetables (lots of cabbage brocoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, kale, spring mix salads etc.) I NEED: menu ideas of safe foods (that do not take an hour to prep and cook) for me to eat ad i have been eating these same combinations now for some 12 years and I am totally bored with the same old/same old. i am VERY excited to delve into the Insulin resistance diet starter course. THANK YOU! There are no cocindinances!
I diagnosed myself today with pre-diabetes. I will use my husband's glucose meter from time to time. Today I was 100, took it again and it was 101. Today is the first day of the rest of my life. Very informational video.

Thank you! I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes a week ago. My HbA1c 5.9% and my glucose on 80. I do excercise a lot (I'm a runner meaning I run 4 times per week, lift weight once per week, swim once and bike once for more than an hour) and my weight is adequate. You can imagine my shocked when my doctor send me a text telling I had pre-diabetes, that I had to lose weight, exercise more and change my diet. For this last thing she said, I follow a nutrition plan with a RD, I laughed. I did discovered that one of my snack was full of added sugar 38%!! I've been eating them before my workout because the brabd claimed the energy bar were organics! I will continue with my diet, of course, cut out that snack and add some of your foods ideas!!

Thanks, doc. My wife has been diagnosed with pre-diabetes, and since I do ALL the cooking and grocery, this video was simply laid out for me to implement more to my strategies, and/or confirm that I am on the right track. Just an additional note, for those that don't like cottage cheese, I use it interchangeably with Greek yogurt in my wife's morning breakfast smoothies (and she hates cottage cheese). With the berries that I include, it gets hidden with the spinach, which she also hates, lol. I look forward to watching more of your videos; you are very photogenic and your calm delivery of the message is refreshing. God bless.

Say to Your wife I told and write here. She is A Very Lucky Woman. None of my boyfriend's cared for me like this But It is her responsibilities to take care of her own LIFE not Yours . As in Story... You Should Teach Fishing to Hungry man Not Giving Fish Old the time.
So I was diagnosed with pre diabetes like a week ago and it really shook my world and left me feeling bad for not knowing that this was the case. I initially went into the Doctor for acid reflex and when they took my blood my sugar levels were sky rocketed. I got a few bags of IV and was prescribed Metformin. I hate taking pills, but I’m trying to live a healthier way and consume the right foods to reverse this. I went into the Hospital and my sugar levels were in the 400’s after IV 237, since then it’s now fluctuating from low 100’s to 140 just off of me switching my diet. It’s hard when you don’t know what to eat, but it will be fine. Thanks for all of your information it is helping me learn how to live a healthier life, and navigating me through this journey. Please anyone leave positive feedback and good healthy recipes to turn this around. Thank You All !
Thank you for your informative video. I was recently diagnosed with a 6.3 A1C. My BMI is in the normal range, so it's not a matter of losing weight. i need to make dietary changes, no Cheerios and ramen for me etc!
I am grateful for people like you that are sharing their hard earned knowledge free on youtube because not everyone can just throw a lot of money to a Doctor ,then a nutritionist , then in many cases expensive diet and so on. What I would love is for anyone to recommend me other videos like this but also for recipes that are tasty because I wasnt brought up with greens a lot and I just cant stomach a diet of it unless it is very forced and makes me miserable in part because food was also like a coping mechanism growing up dealing with stress and depression for various reasons so is hard to quit ''good '' food for a healthier diet and since I dont drink or smoke is like is an addiction that is just hard to leave behind but I do need to eat healthier but man is hard as hell , I have tried everything and I keep going back like a drug addict that fails through withdrawal. Any recommendations on prediabetics good recipes would be appreciated.Any motivational videos , at this point I will try almost anything. I will keep trying to change my diet though , I try and fail but I keep trying.I have lower the intake of soda to almost just when I got out or if we ordered pizza , I dont buy soda for home anymore but I still intake too much juice which is just sugar too. I try to get just a small amount and top it with a tall glass with water and it has helped also trying this week fasting from 8pm to 12 pm on the next day which helps a little but I end up famished at midday and the craving is strong. Also I been doing a glass mix with fiber twice daily and has helped a TON with digestion. But aside from that and trying excersise which I am trying whenever I have the time to spared its just hard to choose a good path over all the ''advice'' on the internet or different doctors that actually work.''Just do it'' isnt enough in my opinion , gradually over time has help for me but cold turkey is hard as hell , maybe is just a psychological thing.
Thanks for your kind feedback, I'm glad you found this video helpful. I'm a strong believer that unhealthy food can belong in a healthy lifestyle, and that trying to "quit the good stuff" will lead to feelings of restriction, and then rebound eating. I have a few book recommendations for you. For recipes, you can try googleing or pinteresting "low-carb meals" etc. You don't have to eat a bunch of greens to be healthy :). Simple carbs swaps like chickpea pasta or spaghetti squash or cauliflower rice can help reduce blood sugars, too. The books I would recommend, especially in light of prediabetes are The Diabetes Code by Jason Fung, I Am Enough by Marissa Peer, and Atomic Habits by James Clear. I'd also (of course!) recommend you consider joining my program. It synthesizes the best info from all these books (plus more) in a sustainable weight loss system. With the lifetime access you can take your time implementing and not feel rushed to do a "diet" because it's really only lifestyle changes that matter, not short-term diets. I am planning to do more content related to prediabetes in 2022 so if you have any other suggestions let me know. The best cookbook I've found so far is Cook Once Eat All Week by Cassie Joy Garcia. There are a lot of recipe swaps to make things lower carb.
@@drmorgannolte Thank you a lot and I will definetely check all those recommendations.I agreed completely with being a lifestyle change which is just reprogramming my brain to this new lifestyle , I will get there no matter what.
I was just diagnosed with prediabetes. My count is 5.7 as of yesterday. I'm not overweight, just didn't know the choices I have for meals. Thanks so much for an easy to follow and interesting video.

Good info. I have diagnosed myself as pre diabetes. I am a nurse and I take my blood sugars every few months. I have had major surgery recently and I took BS 3xday for 3 days and I was shocked. I went as high as 180 - most were 130-160.I took some 2 and 4 hours After meals and AM and bed time. These were higher than I ever had. Before. My last BW showed fasting BS at 98. A1c at 5.7. I feel I caught it early and I am not going let myself get ravaged by this disease.

I reversed my IR in 8 weeks also. Changed a lot of foods….but I couldn’t exercise because of a short term injury. I still lost 8 pounds in those weeks. The effort is very much worth it! There are terrific alternative foods out there. Swerve sweeteners, no sugar yummy maple syrup, extra fine almond flour for pancakes, etc. I make those way ahead and freeze portions. Yay!
HAHAHAHA ! I LOVE IT ! "Most of your foods shouldn't even have a label" . Thats one of the best statements i have ever heard about healthy eating !!! EVER! Fantastic !!! Powerful, powerful statement !!! The more i hear you talk, it just keeps getting better and better ! Thank you so much !!!

I stumbled into an ER with triglycerides of 2000. It had given me pancreatitis. My 1AC was 12. They kept me in the ICU for a week. 3 years later: Triglycerides 190, 1AC of 5.4. Down 47 pounds. Stopped needing insulin 18 months ago, and only take 500 mg. of metformin. Food choices are key!!!! I eat like a king: small sirloin steak, veggie medley (asparagus, onion, squash, mushrooms, and green beans) and a nice pile of riced cauliflower with gravy on it. I never eat anything I don't make from scratch in my own kitchen... so I know exactly what is in it.
Have you downloaded my Ultimate Food Guide? It explains which foods are healthy and not related to how they impact blood sugar and insulin. I think you’d find it helpful. You can download that at www.weightlossforhealth.com/ultimatefoodguide.
@@MsNan00 You can buy either a whole cauliflower, or bags of florets in the produce section. Some even have bags of it already riced up. Just microwave it for like 4 minutes or so (check to see if it's soft enough). Then I just put it in a food processor. I'm sure a blender would work too. Comes out a bit like mashed potatoes, and you can eat them just as is. I like to mix up real mashed potatoes with it, 3 parts cali, 1 part taters. Cuts the starchy carbs of the potatoes down significantly, but still tastes like mashers. Put some gravy on and grind some peppercorns on there. I eat this daily. And of course, any other recipe you might use mashers for, this would work just as well. Some days a little parmesan cheese sprinkled on instead of gravy for example. Or toss some in a pan with browned lean ground beef, and stuff a bell pepper with it. Lots of yummy ways to use it, just got to experiment around. And it's relatively inexpensive too. My dang asparagus habit is breaking the bank LOL.
@@phoenixmichaels thank you so much I will definitely try the cauliflower rice. Yeah I see them at the supermarket but expensive I like to do it myself. I'm a mother of 4 boys so I'm always in the kitchen 😡
@Phoenix Michaels. Your veggie medley sounds delicious! Do you buy a frozen bag of veggies & add additional fresh to it, or do you prepare all the veggies from scratch?

Many thanks for your articulate, clear and thorough presentation "best foods for prediabetes". Since a significant percentage of people with prediabetes are on various stages of kidney disfunction, the high protein content of some of the "good" foods creates a conundrum for them. Is there any way around this puzzle?

I was diagnosed pre-diabetic at 6.4% 6months ago. I was 188lb, since I started cycling and gotten competitive, I have lost 22lbs. A couple of weeks ago my a1c came back at 5.7. I eat everything in moderation but do ride almost every day. The key here is to be active by finding a sport that you enjoy, live a healthy lifestyle, and watch foods with a high glycemic index.

I just got diagnosed today at 6.4. I can't stop crying. I don't know how to eat healthy. I love sugar and salt. I love my life, more. That is why I'm watching this video.
@@MariahCarey1577 I was where you are a year ago and turned things around. Pick a sport, work out often and eat sugar foods moderately. Before you know it you will be where I am now. Getting active is the key here. You know I had high blood pressure. 160/90 most of the time but since I started cycling and working out. My current blood pressure readings are at 111/70. So get on your feet and take charge of your life because this life is too short and we’ve e got to enjoy the time we got.

Hi Dr. Morgan Nolte, thank you so much for all the great information you shared. I been Diagnosed 2004 with gestational and after doesn’t want to go away. My doctor was trying to put me on medication since then but I was fight for it so hard I couldn’t reverse it but its doesn’t get worsened either so my dr. Was stop insisting me on medication until 2016 I was gone for a job and with the exhausted and no time breaks until 5hrs so I was starving and shaky so I start to drink milk with some hot chocolate to help my hunger while I am working at the same time. Another reason is I was eaten back the carbohydrates as my mom has move in with me just to make her happy because if not I got too much stress from her unhappy. After 3moths my vision was changed drastically until I couldn’t see the cashier screen. I went back to the Dr. Found out my A1C is rises to 13.80 right after I have no idea what to do so I except the medication in 2017 but I after my A1C went back to 8 I stopped taking medication due to the side effects was killing me to the point I was spraying blood everywhere. But because i either have no choice with my food and was avoiding stress with my mom i kind of neglected my self start to eat just what ever and avoid seeing doctor as well because I am all stuck, I know my body well for sure from what my mom insists me to eat will make my blood sugar high;as well as I hate medication so the pandemic kick in also another excuse to help me not to go see Dr. I know he has no other ways but to push me back on medication. Until june 2022 I went for a annual check up my blood work kick back right the next day and I know that A1C is 14 average glucose is 10. I have no choice but to let my mom down as I have explained her for years that I am ok with complete no carbs from rice pasta because I rather have my carbohydrates from the portions of my fruits! Until now she still doesn’t understand she only worries if I am not eating enough I’ll die because she show me getting more skinny now I drop from 94 to 86lbs. Dr. Told me seem like my pancreas has stop making insulin at this point he order me the insulin and metformin but again I feel the constipation killing me. I am now off my medication and insulin over two weeks and doing the fasting with keto and carnival but my morning sugar still rise from 8-9.8 automatically as soon as I move my body with 16-18hrs of fasting! Can you please tell me if I still need any adjustments! Thanks again in advance❤I hope I can get myself back on track with that my mission is to help more people around me to get their health by prevention on reverse back their T2D❤
Thanks for sharing part of your story. If you haven't already tried 1 to 2 Tbs of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar distilled in some water before bed, that may help with the morning blood glucose. Along with going for a short walk in the morning. It's hard when loving family members, and sometimes doctors, aren't in agreement with what you feel is best for you and your body.
Thanks for this. I found out recently that I'm pre-diabetic, when I went into online medical history to find some information and noticed it on my chart. My doctor never bothered to share this info with me and ive been fighting to go see a dietitian for 2 years.

I don't have diabetes and I'm not overweight...but I'm always trying to reduce sugar intake and make sure I'm not consuming an overabundance of carbs. I think it would be really useful to see some meals vs. just foods. It's nice to know foods, but I feel like just knowing those 15 things doesn't help me really plan most meals. I find meal planning a nightmare and I don't generally eat big ones.

Thank you Dr. Morton, I felt so much anxiety today I had an exam and via urinalysis they told me my blood sugar was high. Not severe but high enough to make me worry and I feel very anxious now. I Know losing weight needs to be a priority for me so I am making lifestyle (diet + some exercise daily) choices effective immediately now. Tbh past few years I have not felt different, some noticeable weight gain but zero high blood sugar symptoms I am going to take this as an early cancelation policy and just begin a new way to eat and get more exercise. Oh boy I felt so anxious earlier. Thanks for the information.

As my family has a history of getting diabetes for the last four years, religiously, I have gone to the doctor and asked to be tested. Finally, after 4 years my GP flippantly said "Oh, by the way, your blood sugar level has gone down from last year - now it's 5.7 and it was 6.0. Not only was I shocked that I was pre-diabetic but I was angry that she never mentioned it to me because I am well aware of the fact that with the right diet and exercise I could have brought it down to a safe level 4 years ago! She said that she told me and I insisted that she hadn't because if she had, I would have remembered as I was the one who kept requesting these blood tests. I am so conscientious about getting diabetes I would have taken heed immediately. Now that I know I am pre-diabetic I have quickly stopped eating as much sugar in any form that I possibly can, I have stopped eating wheat or anything that turns into sugar. That is why I am listening to this video to hopefully figure out what I can eat and what I should eat to reverse this free diabetes.

Thanks for the information. It was very helpful. Could you clarify the relative carb content of nuts? I thought that Pecan, Macadamia, and Brazil nuts were relatively low in carbs, whereas almonds and pistachios were fairly high.
Without looking up on a tracking app or online such as Carb Manager I wouldn't know off the top of my head either. I recommend downloading a tracking app and putting in 1/4 cup of each nut to compare the macronutrient compostition.

Can u share the time it took to reverse it
I was diagnosed yesterday…. Thanks for your post
How much weight did you lose?
My husband did it...he was prediabetic for over a decade...he went into the diabetic range and didn't want to do medication, plus he had low iron which made the diabetic result void. He cut out sweets and ate low carb...lunch was a big salad with low carb veggies and protein...he was already drinking sugar free drinks although infrequently vs sugared beverages...he lost about 50 pounds and has continued to be 'normal' for over a decade.
Great to hear these success stories!

Thanks , I'm just diagnosed with pre diabetes I'm going to beat it
Wonderful that you’re advocating for yourself like this, especially at such an honorable age :) Stay healthy & God bless.

Hi Doc. Im pre-diabetic n a Dr myself. I need ur help in lowering my levels plz.
just an update i've been doing keto since october of 2021, my a1c went from 10.4%, down to 5.5% 2 days ago when I got labs done and of course my cholestoral numbers are fabulous. I weigh 256 lbs, but the doctor didn't say anything he's happy with my work. Thank you Dr. Nolte for making this world a healthier and better place.

Well wishes,
Michael.
Thanks!

I appreciate that! It means a lot to hear that you enjoyed this video. Thanks for being here!

Just an additional note, for those that don't like cottage cheese, I use it interchangeably with Greek yogurt in my wife's morning breakfast smoothies (and she hates cottage cheese). With the berries that I include, it gets hidden with the spinach, which she also hates, lol.

I went as high as 180 - most were 130-160.I took some 2 and 4 hours After meals and AM and bed time. These were higher than I ever had. Before. My last BW showed fasting BS at 98. A1c at 5.7.

If you don't mind asking how do you do the cauliflower rice?

Many thanks for your articulate, clear and thorough presentation "best foods for prediabetes". Since a significant percentage of people with prediabetes are on various stages of kidney disfunction, the high protein content of some of the "good" foods creates a conundrum for them.
