Finally diabetes education applied to Filipino food! Please make more health-related foods related to Filipino food specifically for diabetics. It is so hard for Pinoys because the food relies heavily on rice.
And I think 95% of Filipino population has little to no education about diabetes even with these techs to educate ourselves. We Filipinos prefer to use internet and electronic devices for entertainment. Sobrang common ng type 2 diabetes dito sa Pilipinas and it's just sad.
I was diagnosed with diabetes 30+ yrs ago and I am a Type 2 diabetic that is insulin dependent and have been injecting insulin for 33yrs. Diabetes education is so much better these days. Ive learned more in the last few yrs then I have in the whole 33yrs I've been a diabetic. Im happy to have found your channel.
This video is so informative and helpful. I was diagnosed with diabetes 6 weeks ago and I'm still struggling to understand what I can and cannot eat. Thank you for this!!
Erik, I was diagnosed as a T2 last year. My A1C at that time was 14%. Which as you know is quite high. What I have started to do the last 2 months is: I skip breakfast. My biggest meal is at lunch approximately 12pm. I do have very little carbs at lunch about 5-10 grams (like spaghetti squash). After lunch I take 1 metformin which is a 500mg pill. I used to take 4 metformin/day. Then I usually eat supper by 6pm. My supper is completely carb free. Then I repeat same process again the next day. So, I'm fasting 18 hours a day&eating twice a day at 12pm&by 6pm. My last A1C test was 4.2%. My waking sugar level has been 4.7 to 5.9. Hope this helps you. Try it out and you'll see. Stay away from carbs that's what caused us to get diabetes in the first place. Edit: Metformin was actually a 500mg not 250mg.
Correction eating meat and oil gives you diabetes. There so many better choices like vegetables and fruits. But shes right about lifestyle change though.
The best explanation I've heard. After searching and reading for hours, I found this channel which explains the difference between T1 and T2 so succinctly and clearly in just 3.27 minutes. I subscribed immediately.
I like the fact that she explained the different types of diabetes to start. I was Type 2 for a while and then I "graduated" to Type 1. Yay me! I did a little digging and found that Ms. Sebatian has a BS in Community Nutrition from the University of the Philippines Diliman, so she's not just an enthusiastic ameteur.
I live in the US and I really love how featr has grown as a channel over the years. Especially living in a place with limited filipino ingredients, I am so happy to look to this channel for meal prep ideas, healthy and otherwise, that is outside of chicken and rice seen on YT or tiktok so often. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this! My father in law has been a type 2 diabetic for years but has not been making the best healthy choices. Rice is such a huge part of his meals but I’ll definitely let him know the tip you shared about not eating it freshly cooked.
This is very helpful and informative. Thanks for sharing the knowledge! The meal preparation is also good for normal people who want to maintain their healthy lifestyle.
This is really good information! I have a family member that has diabetes, high cholesterol, AND high blood pressure. She’s also very picky AND has some food allergies, it’s such a challenge to cook for her and often times just resorts back to eating her favorite foods. 😮💨😂 This video has helped me out sooo much! Now I have some good ideas.
I just found your channel. I love it!! I'm a 65 year old Type 2 diabetic trying to avoid going on Ozempic! 😫 Thank you for the wonderful exercises!!💞💞💞
Jo is the best!!!!!!! Thank you Featr team for having these educational content for our kababayan to learn more about. Pinoy health is so so important!!!!
Very well said, exactly the same explanation as my son's dietician here in Canada. He has type 2 diabetes at the age of 14. Post-pandemic and it runs in the family. Thank you for educating our fellow kababayans. Check how much fiber you need to eat per meal and according to your gender :) Get yourself tested every year!
I’ve been really trying to educate myself (thank you RUclips university) on type 2 diabetes to help my boyfriend feel and eat better, get to live to be happier and a couple years longer would be a great bonus too!! he’s been better at taking his insulin more regularly (mostly because I do it for him but I don’t mind) so that’s good so far but what I’m making a goal for him, with his permission and doctors approval of course, off insulin within a years time. Ive been reading and watching that this can be done in a safe and steady way. That’s obviously the most important aspect of this whole journey. Safety. I’m rambling, but to bring it back to the video…this is hands down the most thorough but simple video I watched, compliments to you on making this digestible and easy to understand. I just wanna say I think you should do more videos like this they could really help people!!! I will definitely be showing him this video along with a few others to watch together, thank you so much!!!
I could see the mainstream education of diabetic nutrients had improved recently. Although myself reversed A1C from 15 down to 6 via my own way very similar to her method. Overall my views are: 1) stress management 2) Foods and nutrients buckets concepts 3) lifestyle change "do your exercise l" 4) Fasting and adjust foods volume intake by time & lifestyle 5) quit sugar entirely.
Keep being so natural Jo before the camera! Love it when hosts “speak” to the Audience…not the camera. And keeping in mind that majority of your audience come from Asia! Please do an episode on GOUT. 🙏
This video was so informative and so beautiful overall. Just perfectness... First, my mom is diabetic, so this topic is really present in my life and also, my dad does small scale Tilapia farming here in Brazil. So, besides the great entertainment, this video was also so damn emotional for me !!!
Divide your plate, 1/2 should be fiber/veggies/leafy salad, 1/4 protein fish/meat, 1/4 carbs rice/potato/camote/corn/pasta. Eat the veggies first, then the protein and carb Eat meals only 2x a day. Space them out. Eat a veggie or low sugar snack to help Teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water before or after meals helps satiate and digest. Exercise to burn glucose. Move about. No colas or sugary drinks. Water water water. Hope this helps.
Finally, having a licensed nutritionist-dietitian to give a pep talk about nutrition. Thanks @featr for giving importance to our profession 🤍 p.s I love how articulate she is :)
been a diabetic for 18 years and the diet I wish I followed from the beginning is the dash diet Although it is for people with high blood pressure its great for people in general as this diet allows for more vegetables and fruits which is always a good thing and reduced salt and reduced fat in the meal plan. I just started the Dash diet and I don't even miss things like pizza or fries or any of that stuff because I know i;m going to be having a great meal that will fill me up and will be real food with good nutrition
Thank you so much for this video! My blood sugar is high, so the doctor told me that I should find ways to bring it down, or else I'll probably develop diabetes if I don't make any changes in my diet and lifestyle. This is sooo informative and helpful!
THIS HELPS ME A LOT, YOUR NICE EXPLANATION, FEART THANKS, I AM DIA DIABETIC,TYPE 2, I TOOK UP METFORMIN NORMAX, 5OO MG. EVERYDAY. BREAKFAST MX3 COFFEE. WITH BROWN BREAD. ONE EGG. ❤❤❤❤
Hi I would like to request a video for people with glaucoma. About 3 million Americans have glaucoma and it is the second leading cause of blindness in the world! Thank you!!!
Hypoglecemia (Low blood sugar) under 30mg/ddl, this is dangerously low, is scary, your consciousness turns on and off, it feels like youre teleporting, and if you faint and not go into coma,it's traumatizing for the first time, hypo almost always occur after a tiring activity such as exercise or when you don't eat like during dawn while youre asleep, good thing whenever this happens my body wakes me up for some reason, all you need to do is eat or drink something sweet. I have type 1 dIabetes since 10 yrs old ,now I'm 28, I use an insulin pump since 14
Just found your video. You gave me idea on how to eat my cucumber with scrambled egg for a change. I always eat it by itself or salad. Hmmm mungo looks good. Just subscribe.

Be careful of processed foods, white flour or starches like bread, potatoes, cereal, noodles. Protein is better.
@@thetrunorth6197 Eat Whole Food plant based diet period. Be careful for process plant based food also a process food. Oil is overrated also.
