Carburetor all the way... no messing with a computer all you need to tune it is a screwdriver. Whatever you do put a billet rod in it

Or I guess I should specify, I am strapping one of these to a long tail for my boat and if I’m looking to go higher than 10hp should I just get the bigger motor?
I just wrote a long message to another question and the short answer is is all about making HO per cube. So increasing the cubes themself is the fastest way to power production. Then refine that setup to increase HO per cubic inch in that setup.
Does the pvl ignition coil only work with the pvl lightweight flywheel ?

Hey paul I'm new here,was wandering what the lifespan on a well built motor like yours are,or any quality built motor in these sizes I was looking on the maintenance chart from tillotson on the 225rs and it requires a oil change every 3 hrs of use and a 100 hr lifespan till it needs rebuilt again are all these engines that high maintenance when they are built??
The better parts will give you more life .. but the bigger the bore and stroke gets you need to add strength all over .. usually the bigger the better but life expectancy goes down .. the builder is key. But usually when you tell a customer the expensive options they need for extending the life of the engine , they feel it’s to expensive and opt for the cheaper rout. This usually ends with costly failures and total rebuilds. It’s always cheaper in the long run to build them right the first time. I only have one way “the right way” I turn down almost 9 out of 10 callers. I will not build a build that isn’t up to my standards. That’s why I usually build the heads. What they do on the bottom end is not July concern. Complete builds cost a lot more thru me than other shops. I’m to proud to put my name on something that I know is not right.i never understood the stages ... No stages , either it’s done right or not done at all.

@@timbenham516 Tim ....Not the ONLY one, there's another down under in New Zealand, ME home of the world's fastest old Indian and Indy/Datoyna racer Scott Dickson...in away the internet's stuffed it up, because most don't know the good oil and believe rubbish: Monkey see, Monkey do😐makes it hard for older experienced builders & racers to convince them otherwise: like the Author said....back in the day we had to learn the hard way, As an early teens I built my own little Flowbench & small engine Dyno (Mechical) most mechanics these days are ' parts swappers ' & are lost if it's off their radar...the internet has brought people & info together but it's also like the CB world of 2020's !

I’m a non hemi man myself .. less trouble in the builds and less likely to hit a valve off the piston .. but (stock engine vs. stock engine) id go hemi .. modified .. non hemi all day
What cam did they go with? Hope we can hear them run before they get shipped back
I don’t have the valve covers , exhausts, and one of the carbs ... I bet he will send me some video when he gets those beast running ...
@@paulskartslifan4206 sounds good I Just got done building a 212 hemi with a mod2 cam. And trying to start it wants to RIP the pull cord out of your hand. I've got it to start with the coke on and it Idols really high but is soon as I turn to choke off it falls straight on its face and dies. looking for Answers and why it could be doing that? Someone told me it could be that compression release on the Cam getting stuck but it's a brand new Cam...
What carb is it ? Did the timing move ? Is it getting consistent spark ? When you had it running how long did it run for ? It sounds like timing .. but I need more info
@@paulskartslifan4206 mikuni vm22 carborerator and I used a billet flywheel from gopowersports with built in timing advance with the stock key. And I didnt really leave it running long cuz it sounds weird maybe 5 sec I left it running with the choke on and as soon as I start to turn the choke off it dies Amediately. When it dies its doesn't seem normal either like a slow die comes to a dead stop fast..by timing do mean the cam is in the wrong place?

I’d really have to hear it ..when I say timing I mean spark timing thru flywheel .. did you set the timing on the wrong stroke ? Like after the power stroke ? Instead of the intake stroke ? Hmmmmm🤔

How is it NOT a stroker if your using longer rods? That changes the stroke of the engine.
Crank swinging up and down is stroke. A rod moves but is a constant length. Good question

I actually have been building these non stop since this video posted to you tube .. these builds as shown in the video have , welded big valve heads , big bore blocks ,the racing cam use, my spec rod , weisco piston , torque plate honed , straightened , bearings measured and clearances , big end and small end of rod has been honed to within one hundred thou of spec, they utilize the Briggs and Stratton PVL coils and flywheel good to 12,000 rpm stability .. high compression engines made to run methanol or gas ... these are selling for $3200 including parts and labor .. ready to bolt on and race
Your choice 2.815 or 2.756 bore .. I also have the last of the methanol Clements carbs here for sale .. there no longer being made by Clements and the last of there kind
