    There's nobody on RUclips going anywhere near these deep dives you've done. There are thousands of "kit installers" (which is fine and helpful for the level most people will take a small engine) but you're definitely a master among the crowd. I've decided that if I was to go for a full on race built notor you'd be the only call I'd make. Great work and props for teaching at the same time, that's not always easy.
    Also I'm always glad when guys aren't too full if themselves to show their old welds. Too many creators act like they were born with a tig torch in their hands and it makes it discouraging when us regular mortals look at our beginners beads and think we'll never get there.

      A billet block is cheaper than doing all this labor.

    • @kylepeters7761
      @kylepeters7761 7 месяцев назад

      Not even close. 10 bucks for a pound of filler rod and like 30 bucks of 1/4 aluminum plate. If you can weld and have time its more than worth it. Who makes a billet predator or gx200 block?@@mikesomewhere7214

    Nice job paul. Im a welder 40years you do a decent bead mister lol especially since that's Chinese aluminum your welding who the hell knows what's in it. Cleanliness is the biggest thing about welding aluminum and proper settings of course nice work

      Funny enough the cast uses in these Chinese motors weld’s really nice, it’s a little dirty but some acetone helps that but it’s wets out really nice and you don’t have to use that much heat

    You should make your templates out of plywood or aluminum so you dont have to make a template for every motor. Reuse them. It might pay to have a big batch of them put on a cnc machine so you dont have to make them.

    Skip weld that . Weld 2" skip 2"s because that way to much heat in that block plus if a long weld Starts to crack it will crack all the way but a skip will hold until the weld can be repaired

    Do you have to sleeve the block with ductile steel sleeves or is the stock cylinder fine as is? Also do you o ring the block or the head for this type set up or just run copper head gasket? And I'm sure u use arp studs but are they stock size or do u use fatter studs just wondering.??

    Didnt Lifan come up with a "beefier" block?

    • @paulskartslifan4206
      @paulskartslifan4206  3 года назад

      Lifan has always had beefy blocks. If your going small block the tillotson reinforced blocks are the best bang for the buck now. Still can use welding if going over 250cc but lots of people use them I welded and so far I have never had a report of failure. How long they can withstand the beating is yet to be seen since there k my about a year old now. If going over 250cc I’d recommend welding the block no mater the brand

    Does this affect cooling or anything?

    • @paulskartslifan4206
      @paulskartslifan4206  Год назад

      Making this kind of power is almost always done on methanol , gas does not have the power to achieve the numbers needing this kind of reinforcement. Cooling on methanol is no issue. But I doubt this would effect cooling enough even on gas to matter much or cause a worry.

  • @JakeHeffron

    Paul do you hone these blocks after you weld them? Are the bores still cylindrical after the bracing process?

    • @paulskartslifan4206
      @paulskartslifan4206  3 года назад +2

      100% mandatory to ridged hone ( not flex hone ) to straighten. I re sleeve them after welding myself if it’s bad but welding “always” distorts the sleeve. Good question and logical thinking. 👊😎
