- So, what is a "Billet Animal" anyway? It's a solid chunk of aluminum machined into the rough shape and size as a Briggs and Stratton L0206 overhead valve small engine. While the original L0206 is 206ccs, this billet animal is a mighty 379ccs. In fact, only a few minor parts on this engine are briggs and Stratton, everything else is special ultra-high end small batch performance parts, built by Jonnie Berry at Laid Back Racing.

So why is the channel known for budget builds doing a video on a $6,000 mini bike engine? Because Bonneville, baby!
Can’t wait to see the video of you guys out there at Bonneville. Y’all be safe
Why do you only post once a week new and not Monday and Wednesday
Too scared to finish the triumph or just forgotten about it ?
In my opinion I think it's just to show how far you can go with these things!
Absolutely. You all be careful out there, god speed to you guys.
Hey guys. I live in Salt Lake City, and just letting you know we're about 4500 feet above sea level, so I'd be prepared to make some jet changes if need be. Looking forward to when you guys make it out here.
Good to see another subscriber from SLC on here.
801 in the house
I'm not far, in the Boise area 🤘
@@FancyJesus666that’s crazy lexington sc is 803 and salt lake is that far and y’all are 2 numbers less
Layton checking in
Y'all are headed for life long aspirations for people old as me in their 50s...
I'm talking bonneville speed record for your class... On a freaking mini!!!
You boys are going next level. Glad I started watching 5 years ago and watched the growing of yourselves thru the channel.
Bonneville is about 3400 ft
Wendsdays are my favorite because I get to watch John, Issac, and Charles build crazy stuff!
One Wednesday I started to panic, cause the new viddy didn"t come out till 5 oclock central instead of 3.
Same here. I wake up Wednesday mornings and first thing that goes though my mind is. New episode today!🤘
It's what gets me over the hump day :D
Same
The engine builder has the BEST type of county accent. There are many but man.. I could listen to him calmly taking about engines all day 😂
😂😂
hint from an old fiberglass guy.. After you have it taped up coat it with Johnson's floor wax. It will let the layup release from the shape easily and make your inside a smooth finish. You could use more expensive mold-release products, but the plain floor wax works fine. Also if you want to have the inside of the fender a finished color that is molded in, you could get the pigment to add to your resin, coat the waxed surface with a good thick layer of it, and let it set up a little till it's tacky then start laying your fiberglass over it. When you pull out the tape and stuff the fender inside will be a finished surface.
The full throttle on that little engine was absolutely impressive, definitely a rebuild case on every other race at the go-kart track or maybe four races!
This is insanely crazy, I’ve wanted to see someone build a full out full speed mini bike and who better than the best mini bike guys🔥💯🇺🇸
Ike's face throughout the rpm conversation at 5:30 is awesome! It's the slow realization of just the kind of monster that's in front of him.
Holy Moly. These engines are making some power!
All the sauce!
Johnnie Berrie is the man! Builds killer modified motors
I cant imagine the sound this engine would have with a titanium pipe it already sounds good on the dyno and I usually don't like the sound of these go cart style engine unless 2 stroke. He did an amazing job on that engine.
5:19 😂😂 I love how this guy has the most confidence but still has the "let's see what happens" in his grin.
I agree 4X ... he knows damn well he built the best engine he can ... and that it could fail anywhere at those power levels.
*Let's see what happens.*
You know we gotta see this on a regular go-kart first, just for the shiggles.
shiggles 😂 . Never seen that before but know exactly what it means instantly..
This is the most excited I've been for one of your builds since the OG rail
Gotta be honest. I'm really excited about this build guys.
Can’t ever be a laid back motor he’s been the man for awhile and only gets better and better.
This is easily the most exciting project going on RUclips, I can't wait for the next instalment!!!
I'm impressed with your consideration of fiberglass!
8:45 ike got scared xD
Great motor guys.....thanks for showing them !!
Twelve days. Lots of time. No problems!
On my stroker animal builds, I had the same issue since i was running a stock raptor crank in my animal. The keyway does not line up for the PVL flywheel and ignition. To fix the slipping we lapped the flywheel on the crank with valve lapping compound then pressed it on using 609 loctite. Once it set, we had to heat the crank slightly with a torch to get the flywheel off. Never had a problem after that.
Watching that engine on the dyno was awesome! Can't wait to see the land speed attempt! Totally cool build boys.
Awesome! Bonneville here we come !
I cannot believe y’all are doing this. That’s absolutely crazy. So stoked to see this bike pull.
It's insane how much power, they can cram inside a small engine !!! 😎😎😎
It's essentially one cylinder of a small v8!
That my friends is a beast.
Oh yeah ... Look at that ... A Dry Clutch.... Just what i have been recommending for two years now... Ducati dry clutch with high gear only... Just like a Real Dragster!
A 379cc engine making 40hp is the same specific output as a 383ci v8 making 670hp, its like a 5.3 LS making 570hp naturally aspirated, this thing is a monster
Dyno definitely reads low. Last engine I got from Johnnie was about 25% below what the data from my onboard kart computer calculated.
Looking forward to this!!!
Best build ever , I can't wait , I will drive it too if you want .
This is one of my favorite builds!
The Big O. That is going to be a blast. Wish I could go this year.
Sounds as good as it looks!
This proyect is so awesome! Love it . Good job guys🙂
Absolutely some of your finest work going into this project lads. Loving it 👍🏻🇬🇧
Thats like mad science stuff
This is VERY exciting!
Love this channel so much. It's so casual and cool
the land speed mini bike is awesome !!
Love to see you guys get ur own dyno setup
You guys are going to learn a ton with this endeavor.
It’s a work of art!
Cool build series. Probably (in my opinion) one of the best so far on your channel. 👍👍
137-157 mph build ⚙️ your guys video’s amazing 🫡🙏
I'm so happy you're doing this (think I recommended you do this) running a bike at Bonneville : )
Loving the build series!!
I love this stuff my 17 year old son built a d16 y8 single cam and it mad 550 to the wheels like 700 crank
It's going to fly the motor sounds awesome
Love what you guys are doing but please be safe we love watching you and want to keep watching you 👍
we made same when we took sleeve out and welded more alunium on and then drilled it to bigger pore.
That thing rippes .North Carolina boys y’all never fail to keep inspiring me to watch y’all’s videos.
Best episode yet guys thanks....
This is the best looking engine y’all have had yet!
That bad boy is gonna set some records !!
Every week I can’t wait for Wednesday because I get to watch you guys
Something to help with fiberglassing, when I was building an experimental aircraft I had to fab my own gas tank, so I used a giant block of styrofoam and a heat knife to for the foam to fit inside the wing, then glassed up the foam, and used some gas to melt the foam, not sure if that was the right thing to do but it did the job and as far as I know she is still flying with that tank 10 years later
I want to see this on a mini bike like that drag bike at the beginning.... This thing is trying to break that entire stand and it's vibrating so much, I can only imagine how it's going to feel when laying on the bike. 😮❤
It will be done. I own that engine and also have a chromoly mini bike that looks exactly like that one. Convinced John to ride it later this year.
Good luck and God bless yins guys
Looking good guys. Here's a tip for fiberglass, wet the mat with the resin before putting it on mould. It's messy but will be easier to get it to stick onto mould. Great work.
Should get 100mph.
For a single-cylinder that thing sounds great!
Great Engine Build.
It should hold up well.
The bodywork is coming along great as well.
Keep The Shiny Side Up 👆
You guys are doing a hell of a job!
Little personal fiberglass tip, don’t know If it’s correct but it’s what I’ve found works. I like to completely dip my mat or pre soak it before laying it on, helps it stay where you need it
Amazing build!
Love it. Looking good. Good luck to you guys!
Thanks! We'll probably need it!
great stuff guys thanks
When it comes to fiberglass, you want to try and squeegee as much of the resin out as possible with a bondo spreader or something. Smaller amounts of resin (still fully saturated though) and more fiberglass will give you the strongest part. This is why vacuum molding makes incredibly strong parts. It will also help with weight
Great job guys 👍👍
This is a really fun build!
Don't forget of course it will definitely need to be retuned when you get it here to Utah, all my bikes run smaller jet than the rest of my friends at sea level!
Pretty rad build! The fairing/fender kind of reminds me that robot from mystery science theatre 3000...
Maker smooth and pointy
Not Sure you'll see this tip, but a friend of mine AL LAMB is a LSR record holder, and If you look at his bikes, you can see the AERO designs. I'm sure you've done your homework. 😊 Tip on the rider padding: Contouring helps stabilize your body, minimizing body movement and scary instability oscillation.
Man yall better hang on to that thing man its going to fly . ike and charles did a good job on the glass work .
That motor is a beauty 🔥
Great work guys!!! Keep it up!
You guys are awesome can't wait to see that $6,000 engine tear up the salt flats keep up the good work
That thing is violent!
I feel confident saying that Burt would strongly approve of this build.
The fastest Indian!
@@ProblemChild-xk7ix Bob's your auntie.
Looking good boys can't wait for the test run i reckon 75mph loving the build 👍👍👊
You need to flare both sides of the front fender to deflect air from relatively flat (but angled) front body section. Gotta get rid of more turbulence up front although smoothing the windshield base out will help. You are going to find that aerodynamics is king to simple horse power. If you guys are serious you will design and fabricate a drivers suit the back of which will be sculpted somehow and make it real "slick."
All of these single speed engines are really cool but I really want to see something like a supercub c50 build from you guys. Keep up the good work!
Hey guys long time sub with little time so I haven’t been watching much lately this episode really picked me up again! Glad to see you guys are only going up in the world and good job!
Man this thing is awesome can't wait to see it on its first run . Oh great job on the fiberglass work Ike 👍
i think it will go 87mph. Keep up the great work as always guys!
I'm really loving this build and I'm super excited to see it run tests and for real. I'm thinking 670 (or moto engine) swap for Bonneville next year!
That bike is going to fly land speed record here it comes 😊
Interesting, Kind of a comparison but For my key on the crank to balancer on my blower motor big chevy, I use a piece of high speed tool steel 1/4" . I have never had one slip ever. Great videos, good luck.
i like the homemade fiberglass idea !!
That is awesome can't wait to see the race✌️🔥🔥
That's the same as my kei truck with half the displacement but at 1000 more rpm on the first pull Wild!
The ports in that head make me grin! Good luck at the Salt Flats guys!
I used to race Jonnie in VA! I have a billet briggs 305 with 1" head extension bored to about 460cc I cant crank it with a hand held crank without first putting it past the compression stroke :-)
Awesome content guys. what an awesome bike and engines!
Sounds so good!
That thing is a monster great job
23 cubic inches normally aspirated and 40 hp! Incredible!
Methanol baby 😎 stuff is HP in a bottle
WOW AND WOW 😳. That's some power 💪. This Old Man loves your videos. Always looking forward to Wednesday ❤️. Love You Guys 🛵🧔💝💝💝
