Always looking for the best pencils in the world. The best writing pencil, dark pencil, darkest pencil, smooth pencil, smoothest pencil, HB pencils, best #2 pencil, graphite pencils, charcoal pencils, drawing pencils, mechanical pencils, clutch pencils. Хобби
I happen to love the koh-i-noor pens, specially the weight, how they sharpen easily and how I can shade with it on a nearly horizontal position. The only downside (using a 6B extensively) is that they don't last very long, unless you have an extender. Otherwise, these are far from disappointing. Thanks for the review.
This is one of the most thorough, exhaustive and completely unbiased reviews I have come across. I have watched a number of your videos and find them very interesting and helpful. Looking forward to seeing more. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Of all the pencils I have tried to this point these are my fav. They are smooth and I like the extra weight compared to wood cased pencils.
This is important to know! I just bought a Koh-I-Noor 2mm pencil and the lead inside it came with (HB) is harder then any other pencil I've tried. I was actually shocked by the lack of a smooth application and the lightness. Its gritty like moving a bit of sandpaper across the paper. Some European lead is known for this apparently (I later found out after researching the subject on Google). That's actually why I checked out this video because I was wondering if anyone else had the same experience. So it looks like you have to buy a grade or two or three more into the B's when buying Koh-I-Noor lead? I think their leads were made for drafting and engineering drawings because they do seem to have more precision and don't smudge (blend) much -- but not made for art.
Another outstanding review Sir. Excellent
Hi Rix,
it just so happens that I have just watched one of your earlier pencil reviews and it looks like the "generic" pencils you were using is the Masters Touch woodless graphite pencils. You published the review on 25th November 2015.
It doesn't look like we can get those ones in the UK easily (in case someone was wondering)...
It's always interesting seeing your videos especially the non-timelaps drawing tutorials - I think your drawings are brilliant
Appreciate that!
Thanks for the review 😊
Very good review, thanks :)
How do you compare the Koh-I-Nor Progresso with the Cretacolor Monolith? 🤔
I'll have to test them out in a future video. :-)
Excelente revisión!
I think they are Royal and langnickel. That's what they look like
I have those and that's the brand they are.
I appreciate all your reviews, but I prefer a harder pencil in every grade, atleast these pencils got darker when you swatched them out, could be worse
Odd as mine are great laying down very smoothly indeed. I actually came looking to see what the 9b and water soluable ones were like.
Out of interest I've just compared mine to dewent graphite and staedtler lumograph which are both considered fairly standard artist pencils. They were all about the same in terms of value with the derwent 2b being only slightly darker.
Generally in poor quality pencils there's either a grittyness in the harder pencils or a waxiness in the softer pencils which makes them hard to lay down and much harder to eraser.
The reason you were getting black marks and lines in your shading is because you were scrubbing the pencil backwards and forwards. Try tapering the pencil stokes in one direction, gentle on, gentle off. This allows a larger area of even coverage, without overlay lines. In the second set it seemed whilst you were still scrubbing you made broader marks and seemed to have more confidence in the pressure you were using.
The pressure was pretty constant across the board to the best of my ability. The test was for density after saturation. This requires laying down graphite until no more can be layered. This is contrast to when I'm drawing one of my hyper-realistic drawings, which requires a light hand and a one-way application as you described. Just a different goal here.
I have so much trouble with sharpening them that I have to use a razor or a scalpel to do so. But overall they are great
Just need to get a good pencil sharpener
I enjoy all of your reviews. Thanks a lot señor!!!
Thanks. Appreciate your watching and commenting!
nice review!
Thank you.
nice 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Oh, I understand. I am talking about when posting comments under the video. If you are trying to ask a question to those who speak english because it is an english video, it is better to translate it using a translator then post it. I don't read German, so I had to get it translated to see if you are asking me a question, as I try to answer everyone who asks a question. Yes, videos in English do not have translations. It would be great if it did! Thanks for watching and commenting.
don't European pencils run hard? especially when compared to Japanese that run soft for the grade. the HB an 2b did seem pretty useless.
Koh-I-Noor is actually the company that introduced "HB" system.
i don't like these very much
