Rix I'm always looking forward to you uploading. Love the channel and appreciate the review as usual. You've given me insight into products I have purchased and am planning to in the foreseeable future, for I too am a fan of dark pencils
EE pencils are so rare. Yesterday I was lucky to find store with EE in stock and immediately grabbed 4 of these. Not able to find it online. I am from India.
From where did you get it brother?
Stupid art teacher Hindustan trading company, Chennai.
Got to know many more brands from your videos thankyou so much for detailed video.
My pleasure 😊
This is by far the best youtube video ever, Thank You kind Sir!
Right after graduating from high school back in the 60's I was employed as a draftsman (a.k.a. "Drafts person" today). Was never told the real difference between "B" and "H" pencils.
Currently taking part in an "Art Workshop" and last week came a cross the first "E" pencil I have ever seen.
THANK YOU! for the explanation, now I can get some sleep...
Found these easily on Amazon today…box of 12 for $18…included 3 day shipping. Yes, of course I bought ‘em. I have PAD (Pencil Acquisition Disorder). Thanks for your great vids.
I live in Indonesia. I bought Staedtler EE and EB pencils many years ago. I also have that 8B "hybrid" pencil. among those 3, I think EB is the lightest
I want more pencils!
Where do you think the Cretacolor Nero would fit in?
Yes this is available in India and I bought it for dark and it’s working amazing
It is so funny! When you search Amazon for “EE pencil” it autocorrects it to “eye pencil” and shows dark black pencils for eye makeup. The funny thing is they sort of match the description since they all have a thick greasy lead.
LOL! That is funny. However, EE isn't 'greasy'.
@@RixCanDoit No? Ok. I assumed it because of its very dark color.
@@StopFear It gets its dark color from its black carbon mix.
Great comparison vid!! Thanks! I wish you had blended the 9xxb then added another layer so the comparison between the 8b, ee, and the 9x would have been equal. The 9x might have edged the ee out. I didn’t know about the conte or the straight up carbon pencils. I’m going shopping!
Thank You for this excellent informative video. Excellent presentation
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey rix I use this pencil everyday. Steadtler Mars lumograph ee. I live in India and I buy it in 80 RS, about 1.25 dollar. It's a very good pencil. It is dark than graphite but less darker than a charcoal. It also don't smudge that much like graphite. I use Mars lumograph black also and I like it more or not, lol. It sort of a competition bet. Them
Abhishek Gupta hi Abhishek, I live in India too. I've been searching for this pencil and I can't seem to find it anywhere! Any possible leads??
@@sakshirajan5692 it available in any big shop or store. I bought mine from Chandigarh. Hope you found it.
Excellent this video. Thank you!
I can confirm that the 8B is no replacement for the EE pencil. The 8B is way WAY more shiny and grey.
thank you for your detailed review, very helpful.
It looks like the EE did the worst at laying on the paper as the texture showed through the most with it. The carbon sketch is solid.
I love ALL your pencil videos sir, and for me the best pencil is always the one in my hand LOL
Very informative and helpful video! What pencil sharpener are you using to get these long tapered points? Thanks!
Please check out my sharpener reviews on the channel as I use so many I can't remember which in most videos. Thanks for commenting!
Luckily I have got 2 packs of them. The EE pencils were discontinued in the 90s
Just sold under a new name now.
Very nice...
Thank you! Cheers!
I have an EE and EB, apparently they r an "endangered" pencil...I love it, but maybe I should keep and let it be worth something one day😂
Im from thailand and these pencils are everywhere...
So what you have explained in this video is that Mars Lumograph right now all grades are graphite only, not mixed with carbon anymore????I didn't want to buy Mars because i tought even now in 2020 they are still hybrid like you said and not only graphite like FC 9000 series and that it will blend hard because carbon added is harder to blend then graphite.Thank you for in depth video of what is what considering Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencils.
I love the channel. The special thing about this channel is that you review everyday use art product from costly to cheap yet good quality items. I am shocked to see the review of Apsara and nataraj pencils at your channel, I mean wow. Good channel and very detailed review of everything.
If u got a chance can you review the Faber Castell 9000 pencils.
There are two videos on my channel that talk about the 9000. You should watch those. :-)
@@RixCanDoit okk thks for replying.
Thank you for another interesting video. I find drawing with pure charcoal pencils difficult. Graphite is much easier to work with. As you say, Staedtler marketed the Mars Lumograph Black in 2016, and the previous Mars Lumograph 8B and possibly 6B was moved to the new range and replaced with a graphite-only equivalent in the original range. All internet data is effectively second hand, so I have no direct knowledge of the following. What other pencil sites say is that Staedtler Malaysia manufactures the EE pencils using 8B lead, presumably Mars Lumograph Black - type, imported from Germany, as Staedtler keeps its proprietary manufacturing there. Staedtler says that the Mars Lumogragh Black 8B replaces the Mars Lumograph EE. I missed out on an auction for 12 NOS EE pencils, 30 years old, last week, so cannot disprove this. Just another data point for the channel.
You haven't tried steadtler Mars lumograph 100c charcoals they are the darkest in my opinion just like carbon and very very soft even it's medium is also very soft then many more soft charcoals. Then camel charcoal soft is also very dark and camel compressed charcoal sticks are also very dark. Do try them also.
Charcoal can only be so black. Once you've seen the blackest black, no point in trying to get blacker. With that said, the EE pencil is not charcoal but a hybrid pencil like the 9xxb. Soft charcoal is naturally going to be darker.
There’s no way it’s darker than the lumograph black 8B
very informative. well done bro!
Thanks man!
Thank you 🙏🏻 what type of electric sharpen is yours?
I have several. Check out my sharpener reviews.
I personally don't like the charcoal, because they smudge way more and easier. And they don't blend as well. :/
And a question, do the graphite ones and the hybrids blend and mix well
They blend to a degree.
Cool video, actually staedtler makes from 10H~up to 12B. That is the widest scale so far
I've seen up to 14B.
@@RixCanDoit Pasler sells a 16B pencil
are these the ones staedler sells now as the black edition?
pretty much
Hi, can I swap EE pencil with blackwing 602 from you?
Wonderful review! Well done.
Thank you kindly!
yup they change to graphite and its really disappointed.. its hard to find where gonna buy the black color staedtler..
WO GAB ES KAUFEN EE staedler stift 😱
Darn. I knew I should have kept that decryption ring.
is the mars lumigraph black the same as the blue?
no
They are same..... U see graphite and carbon are natural products so they can have some minor defects. I would say that 8b replaces ee.... BTW i have both of em (ee and 8b)
Well, I can only go by what I see under the light and magnifying glass. My 9xxb is darker than the 8b, and the EE was darker than the 9xxb, so we'll just have to agree to disagree. :-)
Darkner or hardener?🤔
EE is graphite pencil?
Hybrid. Part graphite, part carbon dark.
@@RixCanDoit Thank you!
Does EE stand for anything
EE stands for a softer grade in pencil
I bought both EE and EB. I bought only close to 6 Singapore dollars for 12 piece. I can give the link if anyone wants it.
stationeryworld.com.sg/brand/view/index/id/300/?p=3
This is the link
That’s an excellent price. It is double the price here in India.
Where the heck you find that? it is a collectible item, may be.
Sent to me from a subscriber in India. It appears they can get them there and in Thailand.
and how much is that ?
In Singapore there's only 1 place that sell.. comes in 12 plastic wrap.
Thanks
B means blackness H means hardness. But what does EE means??
Hybrid.
There was originally Extra Black (ExB) that was badged EB on the pencil and Extra Extra Black (ExExB) that was badged EE on the pencil. They were rebadged as 7B and 8B decades ago.
In my set 8b is darker than 9b
That got dark, fast.
Anyone does also have 11B staedler mars like mine?
No
nm. (slaps forehead)
you made a video of 23 min just to show a "EE" pencil what a waste of time
I know, right? It's like watching someone play a video game for 40 minutes. We could be using that time to learn something valuable, like the value of being positive, not hypocritical, stuff like that. Cheers!
