7:46 the gun they gave him is his Ion Blaster, which in the game was always equipped on Prime and couldn't be unequipped, much like Megatron with his fusion cannon
I used to think that complex transformations were needed for a figure to be considered good, but the SS Prime here reminds me that it doesn't have to be if the figure can look accurate even with a fairly simple transformation
I didn't grow up with the game, but this Studio Series figure is very tempting. Elbows look a little looser than I like though, and I just put down a hundo for Armada Prime.
@@necrovore9938 I see, another case of Hasbro inconsistent qc. It's not the end of the world (some floor polish and 10 minutes of drying can fix it easily) but it's annoying.
the new one is a great mold but it does make me miss when takara releases with better paint was still a regular occurence. I used to have a takara foc starscream with gorgeous metallic paint and the tron lines all picked out, and I hope they come out with premium finish releases for these wfc ss figures. these designs deserve to be done justice with better paint.
I'm very happy with the new one, great size, proportions and articulation, and the accessories are great. Still really like the old one though, it's still a pretty good figure for its time. Interesting, the elbow on mine isn't loose like that. A cool thing you can do with the arm storage on the new one, instead of pegging it in his ass, you can open up his back panel, and put the arm facing up inside with the peg side against his back and close it and it actually stores his arm in a much nicer looking way. It's not super solid, but it will stay there if you wanted to store it once displaying him on a shelf.
The wheels on the old deluxe were so stiff and they just snapped on me while transforming, I’m so excited to get this and megs bc this is my fav design for Optimus as I grew up with the aligned continuity
I just found SS GE Optimus Prime for myself, and I have a head canon that will let me like & keep both: the original WfC Optimus Prime is Orion Pax before he recieved the Matrix of Leadership, and the new GE Optimus is after.
I don't remember if it was even in the instructions, but the old deluxe one's smoke stacks for vehicle mode can rotate around to look more filled in instead of having those cuts inside them.
I have the 2010 megatron and Optimus and buying the newer versions. I have no intention of getting rid of the original 2010 versions. Love those figures super fun figures.
You can better store his arm by opening the first hinge on the backpack (just the front of the truck, not the roof) and resting it inside the hollow section. Just make sure the fist is pointing upwards and the rectangular peg is hooked over the mushroom joint. Then close up the backpack and it'll soft detent to lock itself shut and store the first away inside.
Part of me knows a third party will upscale this and do some tweaks here and there like pushing those grey joints on his shoulders into the torso more or filling up that back in truck mode.
Bloody good comparison video of the character! I was blessed to be able to upgrade the original version fully, Matrix and all. Since the new one came out, I use the original as a smaller scale representation (with Megs & the Decepticon Generals) and display the Darkside Optimus as a foe for this guy. Meanwhile, all the extra weapons that came with the Ruination retools work fabulously with the new Prime as welI. It's a pity all the other new toys from the Gamer Edition sub-line of the Studio Series pale in comparison to OP.
I mean Predacons Rising WAS a movie... I'd love to see it too! We never got a proper Beast Hunters style Smokescreen or Bumblebee or hell even Optimus. Not to mention the Predacons.
Honestly Jcc don't worry about mistransforming it really doesn't matter much! There's only so much room in someone's memory, and to worry about which way a panel goes on a decade old figure seems overly meticulous to me at least.
It's a really cool figure! Just a shame about his weird headsculpt. I'd love to see APC toys or another KO company upscale and resculpt it. It would be AMAZING.
War of Cybertron is certainly one of my favorites! I DID play games pretty frequently in my teenage years but fell off when I started college. I prefer WFC to FOC simply for the character options when playing, but both are awesome. Arkham City and Battlefront II (2005) are my all-time favorite video games tho!
@@Jcc2224 definitely understandable to fall off during college, for sure. thank you for answering my question! i actually just re-purchased battlefront 2005 the other day and it still holds up!
Btw, I've seen this on nearly every review of the deluxe, so I blame the instructions. You are supposed to rotate the exhausts so the notch rests on the leg in alt mode.

I know they seem to be focused mostly on WFC at the moment but assuming they do more games I *really* hope we get a new FOC Grimlock.
They BETTER do more games!
Give me a horrid Convoy No Nazo Rodimus Prime that's just Ultra Magnus but in Hot Rod colors. lol

That's his ion blaster. See transformers war for cybertron autobot campaign for more.
I'm kind of glad the new prime isn't much taller than the old deluxe since he can scale with the older deluxes from the foc and wfc lines
It looks like a jacked up PT CRUISER.
I really want to see them do a Transformers Prime studio series line

I just got this figure it's awesome the artwork is so nostalgic
When transformed into car mode the axe head plugs into the top of the gun turit .
I love the Rage Over Cybrertron three pack, with repaints of Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron. The new Prime and Bumblebee are good, but not *as* good.
I love the old Optimus more bc of the color separation and articulation
thy should have made a shield that fits the hands on the truck mode and in the arm for robot .....
I grew up with the first one, still my favorite figure
The shoulder slide out like the game when you are accessing
You're supposed to flip the axe open and peg it into the square-shaped dual tabs on top of the gun.
there was an upgrade for the original figure that gave him an opening chest with a matrix
Where would I expect to find this in store live in cali btw thanks boss fr fr 😈😈😈😈
Is this figure an exclusive? If not where can I find it?
Anywhere! lol I got mine at Gamestop but it's on online retailers as well
That ugly back could be fixed by tabbing a shield into the fists.
If you have the ax from rid 2015 deluxe prime it’ll fit well with the 2010 prime since it kinda looks like it and was modeled after it
