This Tiny House Community Could Be The Coolest Place On Earth To Live!

  • In this weeks episode we visit Franko, a rockstar musician turned festival organiser who has built himself an incredible house bus, which is parked up in an amazing community of which he is a founding member.
    Looking at this community, it's easy to wonder if it could be the coolest place on earth to live! The community, named Tūmanako Hope, was created when a group of people, bonded through a music and wellness festival, decided to create a community and with it a new way of life. The result is incredible.
    And Franko's bus is just epic! Totally DIY, and designed to be an on-road apartment for this touring musician, the Unschooled bus is an amazing home on wheels. I’m often surprised by Skoolie conversions and the potential to take something at utilitarian as a bus and turn it into something so homey.
    We hope you enjoy the tour of this amazing home and community! To find out more about the tiny house community, you can find their website here: / hopetumanako
    You can experience the community yourself through the NZ Spirit Festival: www.nzspirit.com/

    As the tiny house movement continues to grow, the need for community grows with it. This is such a cool concept. A huge bit of land and a group of like minded people coming together to create a new way of living. I'm so excited by what this community offers and I can't wait to see it grow and prosper! We hope you enjoy this episode. With Love, Bryce & Rasa

    He is so flipping cute and chill. I love the bus. It is so clean and uncluttered. The bathroom with the mirror truly tricks the eyes. The children's bunks feel like it is enough space because the rest of the bus allows space to move and breath in. The community idea is fantastic providing that each person has there own space and then can come together when they want to. The idea of sharing what is grown and raised is appealing. The outside living space looks planned without being side by side or row spacing. I like the overall vibes a lot.

    He's right, New Zealand and the world need more community, it's the way forward to a brighter, healthier and happier future. It's our past and it needs to become more of our present and future. I actually moved to Europe and found community, through my relationship and I literally never want to leave it as a result. I never truly understood what it meant to have community until I found myself openly welcomed by all here. He's absolutely spot on, community is everything and we need to build trust more. I feel so blessed to have found community somewhere, as my experience in New Zealand and Australia lacked it sadly. I am so unbelievably happy to see someone restoring what has been lost in New Zealand for a very long time. I will keep this festival in mind when I visit New Zealand again in the future. Fantastic video, Bryce and Rasa - really unique pick! Keep inspiring others, Franko!

    • @maddiek1980
      @maddiek1980 Год назад +1

      In my experience, te ao Māori prioritises relationships and community. When I’ve worked with Māori communities, I’ve really appreciated the time taken to truly know and understand one another, and how invaluable that is for making our work a success. I’ve experienced similar working with Pasifika communities. These are sizeable and important communities in NZ that are too often erased when we talk about NZ from a Eurocentric perspective. Best of luck in Europe, sounds like the best place for you.

    • @strawberrykatnz
      @strawberrykatnz Год назад +4

      @@maddiek1980 Firstly, I never disclosed my ethnicity so please don't assume. Secondly, the thing with the word 'community' is that it should be taking ethnicity and race right out of the equation. Therein lies the problem. Your comment just totally factored it in. If the division is still that evident, there is a lot of work to be getting on with to build those bridges still and therefore the heart of the problem still exists. While I appreciate the meaningful viewpoint, no New Zealand born person should feel like they don't have community and leave the country just to acquire it and think it simply doesn't exist like me. Period. It should not matter what ethnicity, race, gender etc anyone identifies with to experience a sense of real community. Where I live, if you live here, you are part of the community. It doesn't matter where you were born or what blood runs through your veins. Everyone is a part of that community. So there's still more inter-ethnic community value sharing and understanding that clearly needs to happen in NZ for everyone to be part of it. All the best with your work, I hope you can contribute to this for future generations in New Zealand. It sounds like you dive deep in your involvement which is admirable. We all deserve to feel like a part of a wider community without the strong division of and constant reference to ethnic differences. No one deserves that. No one. People are people. :-)

    This has to be the first episode where I've seen a chicken lay an egg on someone's bunk bed, and I laughed at that, but why not! They free range! I love the look and feel of the community Franko and other like minded individuals have created. What a place to raise children where they are surrounded by nature, nurture and love. The bus is great, the gardens are amazing and I hope that Bryce visits again and Franko allows us a look into his home because I'm sure that it's stunning! Many thanks from NSW, Australia.

    Such a beautiful peaceful yet sociable living space 😍 I loved that the chicken had laid an egg on the bed 😂😂 Mine used to come into my cottage and make themselves at home on the kitchen and living room floor! Or the sofa and the cats would get fed up with them as they then couldn't get on the sofa 😂 I Loved the how the loo and sink were done there, the shower looked fantastic and the girls bunk beds amazing too! The whole place was absolutely Amazing ❤️ And that's before you take the whole community into account, amazing place, amazing fella 😊

    I align with all of the wonderful comments about experiencing yet another exceptional video that Bryce and Rasa have created ... I just wanted to make sure to note one more thing - don't think for a second Rasa that we didn't notice that special touch on the last shot ...the alpacas! ... the symmetry!
    ... the cuteness!!

      They are New Zealanders. But it's easy to confuse New Zealanders and Australians if you aren't use to hearing the accents all the time.

    Bryce, I can't tell whether you or Franko are more excited about his bus and wonderful community, but I think you have found another best friend. We need to quickly build these types of healthy, sustainable communities all over the world. Any suggestions on how this might work in the SE of USA? We need it 50 years ago.

    Super interesting guy. I love his way of thinking and what he's trying to create. What's going to be a challenge is, as the community grows there inevitably will be conflict because human beings are complicated with different points of view. But, it certainly is worth striving for. On a separate note, I loved the outro capture of the alpaca looking out onto the land. Really great. Kudos to Rasa on that choice since I believe she does the camera work.

    I absolutely love this whole thing - his bus, his way of thinking and lifestyle, and the festival/community project. Such an inspiration! Also, I admire that NZ has so many tiny houses - in Germany where I live I've never seen a single one, and I think it is so hard right now on the legislative side to even get all the permissions etc. to build and park a tiny house here - so that almost no one even tries to I guess. I know you've visited Nessa in Germany already, which was cool to see, and yet the difficulties for building tiny houses in Germany showed up. I hope this changes very soon, because as Franko said, tiny houses are the future! And I also see people longing for community, so this is a trend I definitely love! :)
