Deep inside I am a floating home guy. I ache to live in a small space, floating with nature. Boats are giant cribs for me; ships are hammocks that rock me to sleep.
We are a family of 5 on our 38ft mono-hull sailboat, we traveled thousands of miles and lived in multiple countries. We are a sailboat so once you subtract the space for the engine room and cockpit we are living in 28 ft that tapers to a point from its widest width of 12 feet. Over 3 years we are still out here making memories. People say living on a boat is crazy, we disagree.

I happened upon this video by chance. I love the tiny home lifestyle. What a surprise to learn Amy’s plan to move to Mérida Mx. it just so happens I live in Mérida. I moved here in Jan 2013, rented several places, bought property and renovated an old colonial, then sold and moved back to the states for five years for family reasons. I recently moved back to Mérida where I intend to stay for good. Mérida is a wonderful place to live, which I’m sure you already know. Even after living here for seven years prior, I’m discovering more and more of Merida’s charm. Bienvenidos, Amy. I hope I get the opportunity to meet you at some point.
This is my dream home in my dream location. So beautiful! I love your style, decor, taste. A little tip, our chiminea burned a hole in our deck eventually. I put a tile under it and feel much safer. Your deck is beautiful.
A houseboat has always been a dream for me, though I never lived anywhere where it would have been possible. So seeing this was just lovely. Amy has made herself some lovely floating homes, and now that the dream moves forward I hope she finds a beautiful life in Merida! Buena suerte!
Not only do I want to live in that house, and visit that bathroom, which is GORGEOUS!! But I want to be her friend. Such lovely energy nd seems like a great community with all the houseboats! Well done on a beautiful home!

Wow. Beautiful. By our UK standard, it is a very roomy house. We can make a one-bed property 37 Sqm (min requirement but we managed in the past do away with 28-30 Sqm. You are so blessed with such awesome big floating house for one person!!!

I'd love to understand how utilities are setup and maintained - especially in freezing temperatures. And moisture/humidity - is there more issues with moisture (mold/mildew) in and around the home when it's floating?
What a beautiful peaceful home. It has been built so neatly gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. I would just have a four plate stove ....perhaps two but one plate is not enough for me.
What a gorgeous space and I loved the pea green boat. Its wonderful and the yellow tiles and tiles in the kitchen and vinyl floor and my taste for sure.
This is my idea of perfection! I've lived on a sailboat, travelling in the Eastern Med btween the Greek Islands and Turkey. But I would love, love, love a floating home like this. Even the decor is pretty much as I would have it!

Last year I built myself a 375sq foot studio (35 sq m) here in Dubrovnik. It is way smaller than your house but I totally relate to what you did with storage, natural light and maximising capacity. My best friend lives in a two story floating home in Gresham. The whole community is filled with unique homes. The view is beautiful too❤
