Great review. Just got mine. So happy with this so far coming from the S60 and iwatch 7. The one thing that was making me think that I had to wear the S50 and the AW7 was the contactless paying. My Tesco card wouldn’t work directly. So signed up to Curve, added my Tesco card and in ten minutes I was buying my fish and chips with my S50. At the moment I can’t see me putting the Apple Watch on again.
Love that Roy, I’ll take a look at Curve. There are some small quality of life benefits to an Apple Watch, but for many, the far superior battery life and golf features will outweigh them 👍
What's your thoughts on the S44! I quite fancy that having the S12. I'm definitely not wanting calls, texts etc, while out in the course. I want peace and quiet 😉.
I’d say this would be a good modern change…not an upgrade though in golf features though…s70 would be the like for like upgrade, but you can get the epix gen 2 (which is essentially the same watch but now discontinued) for much less
MMMM darn i just ordered the Venu 3 now i am wondering if i should of ordered this lol do you think the Venu 3 will be good enough for my golf tracking and my everyday health ? great review though cheers from Canada
Not good. Venu 3 doesn’t have option to count your penalty strokes, which is that’s quite crucial for your game. If you a golfer, return your Venu 3 and replace it with S50.
Based on my testing so far, it will depend on what you value most. The Venu 3 is a better smart watch that does a fair job of tracking health and activities, and is ok as a golf watch, but it doesn’t have pre-downloaded courses so you have to download them each time before hand. The S50 is a good golf watch with pre downloaded courses, and can track most sport and health activities (no jet lag adviser though), but the smart watch features are pretty basic. Personally, I golf features are my focus so the s50 would be my preference
@@GolfGuyReviews in the Venu 3 once you download a course does it stay in your watch then ? for your home course would you have to install it everytime ? thx
Very tempted by one of these but the decision to charge a subscription for the detailed maps is really disappointing. I think I'm right in saying you get those as standard on the S70 so after two years at £90 a pop you may as well just get the S70?! Annoyingly the 47mm is too big for my wrists though and I don't like the colours of the 42mm. Interested to hear your thoughts on the detailed maps in your review and whether they're a big loss.
Will be sharing my thoughts in the full review. The old s42 didn’t have detailed maps, so I could understand them not being included if the S44 and S50 didn’t have them too because they couldn’t show them…but to lock the maps behind a paywall seeming to earn more money does leave a sour taste for sure. With that said, the S42 was one of the first watches I ever bought, so I probably won’t see the lack of map being a huge loss, and if I want them for a new course that I’ve not played, I’ll probably just buy the subscription for a month and then cancel it again.

Great in-depth review 😊
Thank you Mark 🙏
Been looking forward to this! Still trying to decide between the 50 and 44
All comes down to whether you want the mid tier health and fitness tracking?

S50 looks very promising. I have been using an S60 first six years now and it is time for a new watch.

Like the look of the S50 looks really smart, like to see an on course review if you could.
Will 100% sharing my full on course review once I’ve used it enough 👍

@@demeanor76 I don't need the penalty strokes i can put that on a card Venu 3 will be more than fine for me
@@GOLFADDICT65 if that’s the case, go for it then. Venu 3 also has Jet Lag Adviser that comes handy if you travel a lot like me.

I’m gonna buy this for sure to replace my Venu 3 that Garmin should never advertised it as golf watch.
Venu 3 is a smart/health/fitness tracking watch that can do golf. This is a golf watch that can do health and fitness tracking pretty well 👍
Just ordered it. I hope it meets my needs… currently have an Apple Watch. Tired of the battery life.
Hopefully it does. Apple is a better smart watch, but this has far superior battery life and golf features 👍
Garmin is awesome for golf

Man you sound like the life of the party….
If the comments section of a youtube video about a golf watch is where you come to find a party that probably says more about you 😂

Also, you’re welcome to my party anytime 👍 I think it was just The Booze talking
Shame the S70 isn’t in this style
I love the s70 styling much more.
The s50 is certainly a lot slimmer, even the 43mm s70 was big on my wrists…but the s70 feels more substantial…the s50 is surprisingly light
Moving the watch so much makes me dizzy. Detailed review though.
Sorry was tough to keep still. Maybe I’ll zoom the next one out a bit next time 👍
