I'm looking at Jayco among others, for my first RV. I saw a video of how Geo Pro/E-Pro RV's are made but can't seem to find a similar video for Jayco. How does the construction compare? They use welded aluminum frames but it looks like Jayco uses wood. They also use torsion axles instead of leaf spring and it looks like they have a good process for laminating walls. I wonder how the RV would have been if the slideouts were out when it tipped over in the wind. Never the less, I was impressed with all the weight on the front passenger side leveling jack while uprighting the RV. 👍 Thanks for sharing Josh!

And the fact that they lasted the way they did tells me I'm buying quality for my family. Just discovered this video and coincidence, we just bought a 2018 Jayco Eagle RV and I've read about the structure of this RV and when we bought it, that's one of the things I really love. Our Jayco Eagle 355MBQS is coming home on October 2 and this makes me happy to know that in those years, seems that Jayco was doing an amazing job on their structural integrity. Hope ours is as solid as the ones in this video! 😊
For what it's worth; 3 years ago after a long searching process we sat in a Cougar literally starting to write a check. The sales guy wasn't available for a few minutes. After sitting for 35-45 minutes on the dinette chair & coach, I said to my wife; we're going to keep this one for a while and we always kick ourselves for "settling". Josh, I’ve been leaning towards Jayco from the moment, wavered a little here and there, this sealed it for me. I can see the quality just by eye on Jayco, but to see the parts (you can’t see) being even more impressive is so amazing. Josh, if money isn’t the object, Jayco is the only way to go. Strong frame, strong roof, strong overall construction, how can you go wrong? I love it. I want to buy one camper, I’m almost 63, got one camper purchase in me. Thanks to Jayco for the build, and Josh for making us aware
I'll put Jayco's popups up against anybody. I was surprised when they ended their popup production, but from a business standpoint I understood the decision
With some time to think about what I would like in an RV, it's good to see videos like this... scary, but good. My husband and I are thinking about getting an RV to full-time in sometime in the near future. The more information, the better. I've learned a lot from you. Thank you.

I just watched this video of an Eagle Fifth Wheel being righted after a tornado wind blew it over during the night at the Jayco plant. I was gobsmacked to see the strength and building integrity of this Eagle RV. If I had any doubts as to which RV I would want to be in during a windstorm I have seen it with the Jayco Eagle. WOW! Thanks for posting this Josh and now with the Eagle having a " Full Time " warranty...who would need to see anything more to convince them of the Jayco Quality? bill in Florida
We had a 32BHDS for awhile. Very interesting to hear that story. It's fantastic hearing how the RV industry has improved over the years. Try righting a 20yr old unit the same way they did. I'm betting the results would be very different.
I own a 2018 Eagle 317RLOK. I gotta say the fit and finish has been impressive. We just dewinterized and there were zero leaks and no issues with any of the mechanicals. We start full timing in it this summer so this will be the true test but I’m optimistic she’ll do just fine.
Impressive is an understatement!!!! Do they have the same kind of build/safety in their Class C line up like the Redhawk SE 22A which we are considering?
The "body" construction is pretty consistent across the Jayco family. In motorized there are a few key variances, but the walls/roof will be as you see here.
Yeah we had some nasty winds earlier In a way I'm glad we had such a small inventory on hand as a few of them did slide/roll a bit but everything stayed upright
Safety is no accident. It’s engineered from design throughout the entire manufacturing process. How well this is done depends on specific situation and resulting outcome in an accident. The fact the sidewalls and roof didn’t collapse definitely indicates top structural engineering and manufacturing assembly build quality. It would be interesting to have seen interior condition before and after the unit was uprighted.
Hi Josh, I know this is an old video but I'm hoping you can help answer my question; I know some Jayco's and Keystone's are built in the same facility.. are their roofs and structure built to the same standards? I noticed you don't have any videos on Keystone.
Hi Drew. Glad you reached out as I think you may have been provided some inaccurate information. Jayco and keystone, despite being two members of the "Thor conglomerate" are completely independent and unrelated companies who share *nothing* between one another. They are direct market competitors -- we just happen to have both. No Jayco or Keystone products share production facilities, engineering, etc The only main difference between them is Keystone will use 3/8" OSB decking while Jayco uses 3/8" Plywood -- both are fully walkable of course
@@JoshtheRVNerd Thanks for the response! I do apologize as I was thinking of Forest River Wolf pup and Keystone Springdale.. is that still not the case? And if I could add to this question; does the Wolf Pup use OSB as well?
@@capture_ADV Neither of those brands are built in the same facility either, nor have they been. I would hope they do a little CSI and take it apart a little to see how much any screws pulled in the joint connecting the roof. Would be good to see if there is any unknown issue and a perfect time to see.
They scrapped these completely. They used it as an expensive "crash test dummy" scenario. They found some fasteners had been stressed, but overall the structure basically held with no major defects (beyond the obvious surface items)
They indent the luan to take the glue for the fiberglass and join the pieces of Luan with thin metal covering when they laminate the sidewall together. Tough sidewalls folks
Impressive indeed, for the aluminum / fiberglass bonded wall construction. Wonder how well a sticks and staples wrapped in a cola can construction would have done?
The skin likely would've been scarred, but previous experience has shown us it would hold up surprisingly well from Jayco as seen here: ruclips.net/video/8rJz-mbMCUM/видео.html
been watching you for over a year now and hope to meet you one day soon. Just began a page of our own and would welcome your encouragement as we hope to begin our journey soon. Blessings from The Traveling Holts
Beth Holt your in for a fun time. I meet josh in June of 18 and we had been talking on line for some time. He is exactly the same in person as his videos. No nonsense, informative and friendly. In fact I picked up a few odds and end to do some service on my own camper while I was there and the whole staff was very nice and helpful on a Saturday none the less.
Fascinating video for sure. It brings to mind a lot to think about. I wonder if it is safer to leave the slides in or out in a wind storm. The slides out may keep it form tipping all the way but then it may make it more likely to tip, I do not know. Considering there are now so many full timers, having ways to deal with bad weather is extremely important since the RV is their permanent home. Were these 8 ft wide or 8.5 ft wide units? I would think an 8.5 ft wide body would has a wider stance and be a little more stable. I am thinking a travel trailer would be less likely to tip since it does not have the height of a full size 5th wheel. Those units did hold up much better than I would have thought. It was surprising that the front landing gear did not bend big time when they uprighted the trailer. It would be neat to see photos of the inside. I do recall reading about a 5th wheel stuck in the mud, not a Jayco. They had a tow truck come to pull it out and in the process the frame was tweaked and the unit was totaled. That told me it does not take a lot to damage the coach. Thanks for putting out this video!
If the weather were going to be this bad, then slides in/out wouldn't matter. Ideally slides in during rough weather means less surface exposure. These were 8ft wide which is a standard RV body size. Something to note: Not all wide body RVs also use wide body chassis.
Hmm, new question....if inside, how would you exit while it was laying on door. Might yoy be inspired to do a video on safety, er exit, n such (in general terms n what to look for during purchase). Fire extinguisher, smoke n Co detector and uh..... ty again for all you folks do.
I’ve seen people full-time in a 16 foot bare-bones basic camper. It really just depends on what you can tolerate and what you’re looking to accomplish.
As a full timer I've always wondered why the emergency exit isn't on the roof. How would you get out if you can't reach the side which is now the roof?
Why does Jayco use electric landing gear and hydraulic leveling jacks. Others use six point hydraulic. Are the electric stronger or cheaper? Also can you use an X chock on the pinnacle with the Beast tires? They look too close together for an X chock to fit between. Thanks
VERY Good question! Jayco's fifth wheels are cold camp rated. Electric Jacks are little slower, but work reliably in the cold. Regarding pricing -- Electric Slides + Leveling is actually more expensive vs. Hydraulic Slides & Leveling, so it's not a cost factor.
Is THAT what this thing is? I've had it for so long the letters on the keys are worn off. Almost everyone here never learned to type properly so they cannot use my computer LOL
I watch this video every so often just to remind me the Quality of a Jayco. I just saw a Fuzion fifth wheel toy hauler flipped over by Hurricane Laura with slides in. The walls around the rear ramp door deformed as it turned over in the wind and hit the asphalt of the parking lot and you could tell the ramp sprung immediately also. Not saying this is a normal comparison but the Jayco fared better than the Fuzion. Laura was a bad one for sure and I feel sorely for the owner of the Fuzion. I'm still impressed with the Strength and Quality of Jayco however. bill in Florida
Very impressive sad though with all the homeless people and their just going to scrape these. I'm currently living in a 18ft trailer and would love to have one of those on a lot.Very interesting though
Ahhh....and there's the conspiracy guy! I knew there would be at least one. But, you know what? I almost agree with you...except, I personally think the plot goes so much deeper and you exposed it! You see, it was actually aliens from another galaxy. They used their superior technology to manipulate our weather systems to cause a tornado then used an anti gravity beam to gently lay the RV's on their sides. Afterwards using mind control they hijacked a CGI team to record and fake the video of them righting the units and used their Proxy, Josh The RV Nerd, to release it on the net to lull us into a false sense of security hoping we'd all purchase the Jayco line of RV's. 🦄 Why Jayco you ask? I'm glad you did! I'm so glad you are a skeptic Wes, people should have to work hard for our belief and your intellect forces them to prove their claims. You see, Jayco uses a special spray coating on their aluminum framing that better transmits radio waves. And all of this, OF COURSE, was done so they can use these altered aluminum frames to bounce radio waves around inside our skulls for months on end as we travel and sleep unsuspectingly within our RV's until we are in a deep mind controlled state and susceptible to their suggestion. Enough so that we would abandon all logic and begin posting random conspiracy theories on RV sales video channels but you, YOU Wes! You discovered their plot and shined a spotlight on their otherwise perfect scheme saving us all, the entire human race! You have also exposed Josh as a co-conspirator who was in the process of leading us to our ruin. Thank you so much! All hail Wes!
Don't you mean this footage finally gets its day in the *snow*? ;D
Thanks for the reply!
I'd be willing to take one to do some "research" as to how long it will last after being tipped over! :D
That’s good to know, not that I’m planning to put ourselves in that position but it’s good to know
Ok
Hmm, new question....if inside, how would you exit while it was laying on door. Might yoy be inspired to do a video on safety, er exit, n such (in general terms n what to look for during purchase). Fire extinguisher, smoke n Co detector and uh..... ty again for all you folks do.
Fire escape windows are on the opposite side for this very reason
So I'm late to the party... Just found this video
I'm assuming this means that Jayco bumper pull might make the ahort list for full timing?
I’ve seen people full-time in a 16 foot bare-bones basic camper. It really just depends on what you can tolerate and what you’re looking to accomplish.
Yeah, wind scares me. I was afraid of this, since I'll be living in it.
In 12 years I've only see this once locally. RV or home -- if the weather wants to win... then it's going to.
As a full timer I've always wondered why the emergency exit isn't on the roof. How would you get out if you can't reach the side which is now the roof?
Makes a terrible amount of sense.
That's a negative on the X chocks. I have a Jayco 355MBQS, and I can't use my X chocks on it.
Jayco all the way!
I love the Microsoft 4000 Natural Keyboard. Good choice. :-)
Is THAT what this thing is?
I've had it for so long the letters on the keys are worn off. Almost everyone here never learned to type properly so they cannot use my computer LOL
Hey Josh, speaking of family, why don't you show us your dad and your brothers let us meet the Haylet family
I need to make a "meet the team" playlist, but there's just.. there's no time man.
@@JoshtheRVNerd I love working on computers too... I wish that I could help you out with that. Kind of like, short introduction/interviews of them.
The should disassemble each one and examine every part to see how well each part held up to design standards.
Basically what they did. Called it a loss and peeled them apart to check things out
And to think my Springdale landing gear bent just on slight unleveled ground
I actually do the same
So their going to be sold as new or will people be told they were blown over in a storm?
Watch the entire video. This was discussed.
Is my 2017 Jayco 154bh, built with that kind of quality?
Same general construction methods -- just a little smaller version.
Can I have the link for the video of the rv's being lifted
It was found footage directed to me over a year ago. No link to share.
@@JoshtheRVNerd oh that's ok I trust you, cheers and have a wonderful day
And the windows didn't break
Montana and the other companies had better start stepping up to then !!!
High winds at a outdoor storage lot is how our travel trailer was totaled. Our trailer smashed a pop-up and a fifth wheel landed on our trailer.
Would have been interesting to see how much damage was inside.
Replace awning and send it out?
If you watch the video, then you'd discover that's not the case.
Haylett RV yea I was mostly joking.., just surprised how well it held up... still nicely done
I’m hauling mine horizontally from now on.
lol
what about the inside.
Hey!, did you know your keyboard is melted and warped?
Like its owner.
We lost our paneling on our JaycoJayFlight!
Very impressive sad though with all the homeless people and their just going to scrape these. I'm currently living in a 18ft trailer and would love to have one of those on a lot.Very interesting though
You know what's *really* sad? There's no way they could take on the liability of releasing one of these to anyone given our sue-happy society :(
Slightly used rvs for sale lmao
They don’t actually show it being blown over so they probably laid on the side really easy I don’t go for that video🤔
Why Jayco you ask? Savior of mankind, our new king (and man voted most in need of psychiatric care 2021). 👽👽👽🙄🙄😱😱🤣😆👽👽👽🙊🙈🙉🦄
