    1:20 wheels in head are turning..seeking patterns...1:30 Neural chemicals turning into kinetic energy...2:00 Kinetic energy converted to sound energy... 2:30 "imperfect" effort generates embarrassment, rest of world stands agape. Fascinating to watch.

    Damn, I mean, I can play the Cantina song too, but I had to look the tabs up and learn it. She pulls it outta her ass in seconds and even adds a little "The Entertainer" like touch to it. Much Respect! We're not worthy!

      Lang Kuoch that's amazing!

    • @SeansPiano
      @SeansPiano 8 лет назад

      I tried to do that once, and it took me like an hour to figure out the melody for right hand... Do you have to be like super familiar with the piano theories and all that stuff to arrange by ear?

    • @LangKuoch
      @LangKuoch 8 лет назад +10

      Sean's Piano Hmm, not necessarily, but I do think you have to have a good foundation with your major/minor chords and chord progression.
      It's definitely not going to be easy the first couple of times you do it, but once you start playing by ear/transcribing on the spot more it becomes as easy as reading sheet music. Having a strong relative pitch will help you immensely (this will really help with figuring out melodies--it helps your ear strength!) and also, just knowing the song you're about to transcribe beforehand can help a lot.
      If I'm about to transcribe a song I've heard a trillion times on the radio, I've already subconsciously learned the chord progression and the melody, and it's much easier to try and replicate on the piano. If I haven't heard it at before, it's like learning something completely out of left field and it takes a bit more time to get it right.
      Hope that wasn't too much info. Cheers!

    • @valleyoftheheart
      @valleyoftheheart 8 лет назад +1

      It also helps if you have a natural tendency to recognize not just the pitch of each note, but how it fits with the other notes. Similar to perfect pitch, but more towards being able to hear how the notes harmonize and come together.

      Josiah Provan you learn intervals and you can tell them when you hear them, I can tell some intervals and pitches. she may have perfect pitch, but who knows. as the other guy said many years of practice, try to learn songs by ear and you'll learn how, chords and intervals have feelings, she's not wholly accurate, but she adds her own flare to make it good, she's obviously amazing

    Oh my god, you're amazing! How do you do? Even if you'd manage to get the notes how do you remember them? I can't even play the piano but knowing me even if I could it would have taken me at least a week to get the right notes AND memorise the whole song...

    • @anja8595
      @anja8595 10 лет назад +10

      She probably has perfect pitch, especially if she's a composer. This means that when she hears a note she knows EXACTLY which note it is. From then on, it's like when you're a casual singer and can remember the lyrics and melody of a song. The piano is an extended part of herself and her voice. : )

    • @HeyCee
      @HeyCee 10 лет назад

      Anja Boskovic yeah I get that, I'm just amazed by how fast she manage to memorise every single note perfectly

    • @anja8595
      @anja8595 10 лет назад +4

      Yeah, she has amazing short term memory. From what I gather, while she listens she composes the song and transfers it to muscle memory with her hands which makes the memory last longer and more accurately.

    • @HeyCee
      @HeyCee 10 лет назад

      Yeah I thought that too seeing how she "practice" with the hands while listening. One thing is sure, seeing how good she is I will definitely support her on indiegogo as soon as I can :D

    This reminds me of the story of the piece "miserere mei deus" that was created exclusively for use in the Sistine Chapel. The story goes that a young Mozart heard it on a trip to Rome and wrote it down from memory. His version was so close to the original that he was praised by the pope at the time. Really beautiful piece.
