      flashkraft thats a really nice bargain. Since 1 credit is $2.10, yeah not much to make something that large. So take $2.10 x 1,000,000,000,000. = 2.1e+12... Since this is money, ima just say it costs 3Trillion to make, I might be off.

    Bonus fact, the man who fired the first Death Star was named Tenn Graneet, who was originally a gunner for the republic before being transferred to the Death Star super laser. He did not however think that it would be fired, and was only meant to be used a as a form of fear, but after obliterating its first planet, he deemed himself the galaxy's largest killer and during the battle of Yavin, he delays the firing process to give the rebels time to destroy the Death Star. Right before its destruction in a new hope, you can hear him saying, "please stand by."

    I believe that the number of soldiers was so specific because it was recorded after the destruction of the Death Star. If the Death Star were currently functioning, then this number would regularly change, but once the Death Star was destroyed, Imperial records indicated an exact number of troops that were operating on the structure at that time.

    • @ZacksRockingLifestyle
      @ZacksRockingLifestyle 2 года назад +6

      I thought the acting of the Imp zealot pilot in the Mandalorian season 2 finale was stellar when he says to Cara Dune “do you know how many people died on those battle stations?” or something to that effect.
      The Imperial leadership in all reality would seriously hammer that number into the remaining troops.
      Much of Star Wars’ narrative has Vietnam parallels, and I have few doubts that, had the Empire survived the civil war, the Empire wouldn’t have constructed memorials to the fallen, akin to the Vietnam memorial in DC with all our fallen men listed on it.

    One thing I always wondered about is the nature of the Death Star in relation to the people on it. Clearly, it is a massive structure with many levels which are obviously one on top of the other like a traditional tall building (presumably on the Y axis). Yet, it is also rounded like a planet with structures on the surface like the gunners seen in the beginning of this scene (presumably on the X axis). How do they solve the issue of where the two points converge, especially with regards to doorways and entrances? Maybe I'm thinking too much.

    • @alessandroarcuri209
      @alessandroarcuri209 5 лет назад +10

      I had this thought for years, now. Given its size there must have been a detectable gravitational pull towards the center of the structure. Ok, not strong enough by itself to avoid the use of some sort of artificial gravity, but still... it would have made more sense if the levels were concentric, like the layers of earth, the crust, the mantle and so on.

    • @TheEmeraldMenOfficial
      @TheEmeraldMenOfficial 4 года назад +12

Hamill did indeed burst a blood vessel by holding his breath, but that was because he thought it would look cool if he strained his face while underwater, to give visual realism to him almost drowning. After this, Lucas called him an idiot because it made no difference to the final scene.
    Source: Hamil himself said so in interviews and talks at SW Celebration.

    “Any attack made by the Rebels against this station would be a useless gesture, no matter what technical data they've obtained. This station is now the ultimate power in the universe.”
    “That is fantastic. Terrific work. So no weaknesses at all?”
    “N... no.”
    “You, uh, you hesitated there. Is there something I should know?”
    “No, it's virtually indestructible, like 99.99%.”
    “Uh, okay, wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't ask what's the 0.01?”
    “Well, I mean, there's this little hole. It was kind of an aesthetic choice by the architect. And if you shoot a laser into this hole, the station blows up.”
    “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! That sounds like a pretty big design flaw, then.”
    “No, no, the hole's only two meters across.”
    “Well, that's no bigger than a womp rat.”
    “Exactly. And even to get within range of it, you have to skim along this whole trench. It's not a big deal.”
    “Can't we board it up or, you know, put some plywood over it or something?”

    One interesting piece of info that I would have liked to be on the list:
    It is heavily hinted in Legends that Palpatine was aware of a large & very dangerous threat from outside the galaxy, specifically the Yuuzhan Vong (in Shadow Planet, Anakin, Obi-Wan & Tarkin actually have direct contat with Vong technology through the form of the planet Zonama Sekot) and that the Death Star was actually a project meant to combat that threat, instead of being used as a weapon of terror & domination

    i think Ilum and Starkiller may be the same, people often ask how Starkiller could be built by the First Order considering how weak they are compared to the Empire, but perhaps Ilum was mined so much that it was easy for the First Order to turn it into a weapon. Or maybe the Empire actually did most of the work and just never got it to fire before the civil war ended.

    I've seen documentaries on the dam busters and they really had a hard time blowing up dams. Bouncing bombs at a dam just wasn't a very accurate way of dropping munitions on a target. Dropping regular bombs was also pretty inaccurate back then. It seems like an easier way would have been dropping torpedoes on the water side and let them do the work. I wonder if that option was even considered?

    • @RUTJA.

    One thing I've been wondering... Death Star had its own gravitation field because of its weight? ...but its levels all go from pole to pole all on same orientation... so wouldn't some of the personnel had to walk on the ceiling and on some levels had then
    fall along the floor to the direction of the center of the mass?

    • @kurtwpg
      @kurtwpg 2 года назад

      The gravitational field is overblown. Given that it's built with heavy materials but has more air space than solid, we're probably talking density around 2. Gravity probably 1/50th of Earth's moon. The internal gravity would be the artificial sort, as we've seen anything Millenium Falcon or bigger has that on basically an assumed level.

    #82 is probably only *partially* true. I find it much more likely that Starkiller Base was just one of the Empire's other secret weapons projects that was abandoned by the Empire. Remember the project code names from those 'structural engineering archives' in Rogue One? Uh-huh, some of them sound suspiciously like they could have been other ideas for weapons of mass destruction. Unfortunately for the Empire, when they destroyed Scarif they bet all their chips on the Death Star. Tarkin even commented how the loss of certain projects would be "unfortunate" once the attack on Scarif was set into motion.
    My guess is the First Order found evidence of Starkiller Base elsewhere in the Empire's archives and finished the job for them.

    • @shawnhicks619
      @shawnhicks619 3 года назад

      I read someplace that Scariff was one of many information storage facilities. Of course that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t certain files that were only on Scariff but you gotta admit if Scariff is the ONLY place they are keeping sensitive files and information then the empire is hosed. So I’m more of in the camp of Scariff is one of many information repositories that likely had some data that was only held there, if the emperor did t have a backup copy in a safe someplace
