You really helped so much that for the first time of about 7 years on youtube i left a comment. Thanks bro))
Glad to help out. That’s what my channel is all about.
Thank you very much for your video. It was very helpful. However, I've got another issue once forced unmount of all volumes was successful, "file system check exit code is 8" Could you kindly advise on this matter? Thank you again in advance :)
n the last 2 years, I've had 4 external hard drives fail. Every time I buy a new one, I formatted it with Disk Utility (by using ExFAt) which as I understand is great for Mac and Windows. Today, a 4TB disk has "You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can’t save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can.". Any idea on why this keeps on happening? I use MacBook Pro. Thanks for your videos!
Tried your video out but It did not work.. basically my mac system is not reading my hard drive can you help in fixing that
Yay! Thanks so much! This worked for me and it was very easy to follow. Exactly what I needed.
Glad to help out , don’t forget to subscribe
Hi, thanks. the first part works for me but once erasing it taking so long time. is it normal to take so long time or? my external HD is 2 TB.
please reply, i got a problem which shows disk doesn't contain an EFI system partition;if you want to start up your computer with this disk or include it in a RAID set, back up your data and partition this disk this is what it shows,i tried to first aid my main disk and needed repairing,so i used the terminal but it shows this error please help
So i performed the terminal fix and although it did successfully unmount, the disk is still not able to have first aid performed on it and cannot be accessed. is this a lost cause? lots of photos i dont want to lose :(
What if the damage is on the main drive?
THANK YOU !, if anyone is having trouble , TRY ! on step 2 remember to put a space between 'diskutil unmountDisk force' and your 'hard drive'
😃 👍🏻
This Terminal hack saved my ass. Thanks so much for this information, ultra valuable for those of us who depend of hard drives to produce our work.
Glad to help out
I have the same problem i sent my imac to the app center someone told me that you need change the hard drive should i do this ?

Hi there, everything looks so helpful, although, I have a black screen on Imac after loading the progress bar. So therefore when I run first aid on the main hard drive which is Macintosh, then this message ''first aid.... pops up. I wanted to ask. If I follow these instructions will I lose all the files from before on the Imac? Thanks
Andreas Michael hi! Same concern here. Did u get an answer already?

I want to repair not format. Is there a way to repair the disk? The Disk Utility app isn't working.
When I Backup, I have recieved an error mesage: “The backup was not performed because an error occurred while copyinh files to the backup disk.
The problem may be temporary. Try agaim later to back up. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk.”
Help me, I have used Disk Utility then I click repair Disk but it still can’t continue back up.

Amazing brother….. it super easy and worked perfectly…….🙏🏻🙏🏻
I don't have time machine. Is that means the data will gone?
Hello! I accidentally deleted all memories in my external hardware when i did partitioning. Is there still a way I can recover all those without using software?
there are programs that will help you recover some of your info but it’s never guaranteed and nothing I can personally recommend because of this
what a life saver. thank you so much

Hello and thank you for your interesting video showing how to fix problems with external HD's which is not showing up but I can see vaguely it by using Utilities. However, I wanted to ask you first for your opinion before I go on to erasing or formatting the my external HD, as I have a lot of music videos and movies which I would not be so keen to erase before trying somehow to save them. Can you please be able to offer any help on this matter. For example if I use First Aid would that Delete any of the files/data on that hard drive? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot. Regards, John E
So what problem do you have with your external exactly ?
@@TechandDesign Thank so much for getting back to me so quickly I am truly grateful to you. Well, my external HD was formatted last week and I transferred loads of music and videos to it. But earlier this week I could no longer see the external HD on my mac El Capitan, so I went to have a look in Utilities and I could see the HD there but kind of obscure and I could not do anything with it, but it also showed which was full which is impossible as it is a 2 terabyte and I know that there would be more than enough space on it and it was then that I saw your youtube video and I was wondering if I did the First Aid part I was worried that it might delete all, or some of the contents in the HD. I also did a check up on the HD in Preferences and the HD is also in there. Then I also change the ports at the back of my Mac. I tried all of the ports but that did not help either. Thanks again and I hope that you might come up with some solution. John E
How did you initially format it ? Journaled ? Exfat?
Did you eject it before unplug from your Mac every time ?
Do you see it under finder ?
@@TechandDesign Thank you again for coming back to me so fast. I wish that all other youtube channel users would do the same as you, instead of just ignoring and never replying, so thank you so much for following this issue for me. Anyway, back to my external HD with regards to your questions. The answer is yes I did formatted originally using Journaled and yes I can see it on Finder when I go into Preferences and check the information on it. No, I did not ejected the HD before unplugging or turning off Mac, never. Thank again so much for your support. Have a great weekend. Regards John E
@@TechandDesign Hi there sorry to bother you again but I just wanted to ask you if you had any tips for me after I sent you my reply to the questions you asked me earlier in the week? Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon. Regards John
Is there a way to do this without erasing data
freaking brilliant, thanks

Glad it helped 😃 👍🏻
Can anyone help me thru face time this is hard I’m trying to reinstall boot camp and I’m having problems

what I do? if shown this problem in terminal
im having the same issue
what if it says permission denied?
Hi, I don't want to erase, I just want to access my external drive. Can I force mount the drive via terminal?
what format did you setup when it was new?
@@TechandDesign Hi it's Ex-FAT
Thanks 😊! Successfully unmounted! But repair no luck! 😭
I don't want to erase the date on my disk... any suggestions?
facts i still need to utilize the information on my hard drive
Did you mean “data” or “date”?
Thanks a million bro
You are brilliant
THIS REALLY AMAZING
It didn't work the 1st time but it worked when I tried it again. Thanks a ton, man!
😃
Disk you tale list?
What do I type in
This will delete my stuff ?
didn't work for me. It said the unmount was successful, but still after erasing, it says the process has failed.
I suggest using the code I provided and following the video to fix the problem
YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER😭😭😭
glad to help out
Do you have any idea what a 4k video looks like on a phone?
this is torture than
Wow thank you sir it was work
the same error message
Hero! just fixed my Sandisk 250 gb
it helps !!!! thanks!!!!
😃
When you say Erase, is that going to erase what's on the hard drive?
correct
it still did not unmount "at least one volume could not be unmounted"
Didn not work for me either, just got this : Forced unmount of disk3 failed: at least one volume could not be unmounted
What did you try exactly ?
@@TechandDesign exactly as you have shown, i can't even look to see whats on my external drive
So the reason I usually ask that is because sometimes people just don’t watch the entire video so they don’t follow all the steps or miss understand a few steps. So that’s why I ask - what did you try exactly ?
@@TechandDesign I did it exactly how you did it, the drive just ejected by itself, without me unplugging the cable
I've received this error: "Permission denied". Any helpful hints to get around this?
Are you Administrator user ?
yeah, except that the purpose would be not losing any data! how to get the data in it?
It is génial thank you so lunch fort this fait technycity
what does erase do? like does it delete what's on the external drive?
erase = erase = deletes everything
@@TechandDesign thank you:) I don't how to take all the things that are saved on my hard disk without deleting them:( I can't open it, it doesn't appear on my desktop:((
thank yuouuuuu so much bro
thank you verymuchhhh
Thanks man
I have datat on the drive Im trying to recover...Im not just formatting a new drive.
That’s different. Erase = format = deleting everything
Yes. That’s exactly the massage I got when I did first aid.
But I have data I’m trying to recover from a pulled Mac Pro. That crashed.
So. Do you have a different vid that addresses these conditions ?
@@lancekair5992 Any updates? I'm experiencing the same thing!
Does this erase all your data on the hard drive though?
Did you find out how to do it without erasing data
So if I erase it everything will be lost?
erase will delete everything
@@TechandDesign Do you have any videos on how to save the data before erasing the drive?
