Does this command work in recovery mode as opposed to single user mode as shown here?

Will this work if the external disk is formatted in ExFat?
I ran Fsck, but didn't showed me the OK, I had a lot of HEX codes in several rows, do you have any idea?

If it is a 1tb hard drive, how long would this take, I see a bunch of "y" s flashing and it's taking a lot time and still going...
