If you find your hard drive taking a long time to read/write files or returning errors, it's time to run the File System Consistency Check - a command-line tool which assesses and repairs your macOS hard drive.     Does this command work in recovery mode as opposed to single user mode as shown here?

    Will this work if the external disk is formatted in ExFat?

    I ran Fsck, but didn't showed me the OK, I had a lot of HEX codes in several rows, do you have any idea?

    If it is a 1tb hard drive, how long would this take, I see a bunch of "y" s flashing and it's taking a lot time and still going...
