What better way to conclude the year as to recapture one of its outstanding highlights by revisiting Finnish Symphonic Metal legends NIGHTWISH taking the likewise legendary Wacken Open Air by storm? After being decorated with triple platinum status in Finland as well as gold status in numerous European countries (Germany, Switzerland, Poland, among others) for their most current studio masterpiece »Imaginaerum« and following the highly successful release of their very own fantasy motion picture »Imaginaerum by Nightwish«, the band is closing in its cycle of the `Imaginaerum World Tour´ with a festival triple -- Wacken Open Air being the first of those final shows. The `Imaginaerum World Tour´ 2013-2013 visited in 34 countries, consisted of 104 shows with total audience attendance of over 1,5 million fans.
And what would be a better way to celebrate the grand finale as to capture the entire show at Wacken Open Air -- the world's biggest heavy metal festival -- for a live DVD/Blu-ray? The live show in the front of 85 000 screaming metalheads was directed by Ville Lipiäinen, filmed with seventeen cameras and has a total duration of 85 minutes.
Mastermind and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen states:
"The time has come soon to wrap up the magical & memorable one-and-a-half year `Imaginaerum World Tour´ 2012-2013! We still have three shows left, one of them being at the legendary Wacken Open Air Metal Festival on the 3rd of August. This show will be something extra special, since it will be released later this year on DVD/Blu-ray, together with a massive `Imaginaerum World Tour´ 2012-2013 documentary. Our darling flying Dutchwoman, Floor Jansen, has been nothing but incredible during her time in Nightwish on this tour, so this is a perfect opportunity to immortalize the current vibe of the band on film! "
The second disc consists of 120-minute tour documentary 'Please Learn The Setlist in 48 Hours', with no short of drama or overall madness. Also, there is a 16-minute NIGHTWISH Table Hockey Tournament, filmed on tour. On top of this there are two music clips: 'I want my tears back' (Live at Hartwall Arena) and 'Ghost Love Score' (Live in Buenos Aires).

It's unbelievable how after all these years, I still feel so strongly while watching this performance. I can clearly remember the first time I saw this and the feeling is still the same, like a tsunami of emotions 😄 It's almost scary how much you can feel. And I don't know what kind of floodgates will open when it's finally time for another Nightwish show. Nightwish has never been a band for me, it's something more in a way that I can't really understand. Like, Tuomas' music just pours inside my brain and refuels my being 😂 It sounds stupid trying to explain how it feels, but it's unique yet reeaallly weird. I have no idea how he does it. But maybe that's exactly the thing that makes the story of Nightwish so epic and almost magical. Sometimes you just can't be sure if Tuomas really is from this planet or not 😂
I attended the opening seremonies of the new Nightwish museum in Kitee and heard a man saying "this truly is the day of national celebration". It felt a bit unreal to hear that, but I think everyone can agree that Tuomas is prominent among Finnish songmakers. (And it was lovely to see the chest for donations to animal rescue - Jamppa drove to my home to save a seagull just two weeks ago 😊)
Thank YOU Floor! I've always loved Nightiwish, which has been one of my favorite bands ever since I was a teenager and Tarja was still on the vocals, and I've been a huge fan of you since around 10 years ago thanks to After Forever and your work with Arjen Lucassen and Ayreon. Never before there was a singer that moved me so much, gave me goosebumps all over my body, brought me to tears so often - that transported me to another plane of existence. So when I've learned that you are going to join Nightwish, I was elated. And hearing you with the band live for the first time has been an experience I'll never forget. You guys are magic together. I can proudly say that Nightiwish is my favorite band now, just as you remain (and will most likely remain forever) my favorite singer.

@@TerryDrumCovers1951 Just saw Kai in LA and he killed it both nights. One of the best drummers I've seen this year along with Danny Carey from Tool. It's always great when one fantastic musician is replaced with another. I truly missed Marko though, but at least Jukka K is a great bass player so instrumentally they don't miss a beat. And Floor did great covering the Marko parts that Troy cannot quite do. I hope Marko rejoins but I'm just happy to finally have seen one of my favorite bands.

I saw her do the song Slow Love Slow live after she had been in the band maybe three days. It was one of the sexiest things I've ever seen.

To add to that, this was the first video I ever watched with Floor as the lead singer of Nightwish, and from the very first time she opened her mouth and sang "It was the night before" with that power behind it, I got chills and was like, yeah...they're gonna make her permanent...at least I hope they make her permanent. I'm so glad they made her permanent...haha!

With all respact to Nightwish, this was all about Floor. What a performance, never seen any woman do anything quite like this. Pure artist, the best female vocalist ive even seen. Floor Jansen you will be known for all eternity.

Yeah for anyone who wasn't sure about her joining the band and missing the Tarja days, this entire show cements that Floor belongs in this band. She's incredible.
@@KristiinaBerg This gig was all about Floor cementing her place in the band and in the hearts of the true fans. I love the guitars in this band. Both Marko and Emppu never get the credit due. As for Jukka, his drumming was the stuff of legend.

I adore Floor's voice. Tarja & Annete were great in their ways but wow - for me Floor really takes them to a whole new level, she has the perfect balance of rock power, varying voice tones and melodic expression. Absolutely brilliant
As much as I loved Tarja, I completely agree. Floor really gives these songs new life.
I agree. Some people say that they prefer annete for her "general" voice that actually bring a unique color to symphonic metal rather than floor voice that are too typically a metal voice. But seeing how floor sing it with such power, i can only conclude that sometimes the conventional way are better.
Let's say, she gave back the Nightwish feeling. At least for me. No offense intented towards Anette!

Absolutely love at the 3:40 mark when Floor could have easily just let the pre-recorded choir do the singing, like what was done for the original recording, but instead, Floor sings the part herself rather than relying on the pre-recorded bit. THAT is why I love this woman being in the band.

I've seen many great live performances over the years, including Floyd and Queen. This set at Wacken 2013 is probably the best of all of them. .. and I wasn't there. I'd give anything to be able to go back and see it with my own eyes. Nightwish truly peaked on that night.
I'm just floored with Jukka and his nuclear style of drumming, man, Kai is amazing but I want Jukka back!

just like you discovered 2 weeks before when I heard a guy doing reactions about Sabaton and mentioned Floor Jansen's name. Since I checked about Nightwish it's absolutely super nice. I like the vibes , the voices , the rhythm and specially how the bass and drums are alive in their song. best part is to watch the drummer , dam I love his playing style.
Same as you guys, just discovered nightwish cos my father use their songs as lullaby for my baby back then. Now, my 1 year old baby loves their songs too and can't sleep without their songs being played when it's sleeping time 😆😅
WOW, I don't even like metal music but this vocalist is perfection in this genre. She struggles at nothing on the stage ... Almost unreal it seems. BRAVO !!! 💥👏👏👏💥
What I like about Floor is that not ONLY is she a great vocalist, but she also knows how to bring it.
When she sings she really tells a story with her intonation of the lyrics as well as with her body language.
She is what I call "the complete package."

@@Gandalf1977 He left the door open. Based on the documentary and his statement, I'm guessing it's a mix of his depression, too many large gigs, pay issues and Nuclear Blast getting corporate on him. The first can't be cured but it can be reduced. The others are fixable, management willing. We can but see.

Anette hadn't done so, most likely because she couldn't. That woman had no power in her voice. Tarja and Floor have the proper technique to sing everything they need to.
Marie Laiho: I find it hard to believe we're listening to the same vocalist, because Anette reminds me a LOT of Ann Wilson from Heart. Listen to her solo music if you want to hear what she really sounds like.

I was never a great nightwish fan, but discovered them again with Floor a few weeks ago. Holy Moly! Floor is fucking phenomenal and the Live-versions are so much better than the studio versions! Can`t get enough....
I always liked Nightwish but when Anette came in and I seen her live I stopped listening until Floor replaced her. Floor is easily in the top 10 female vocalists of all time. Have a look at her in 'Beste Ziegers' you will be shocked

Same place I'm at now. Heard them back in the day with "Wish I Had an Angel" and again on their cover of "Over the Hills and Far Away" and wasn't sold. Was recommended them by a friend like 2 weeks ago, specifically this Wacken '13 concert and I was like "OK... hold up I've I've missing out". Not just Floor, but the whole band is great. Very catchy cool interesting creative compositions and great execution.

If you think about it, it makes total sense. They are crushing it in a venue with over 80,000 people, who are lit and overjoyed to see this performance, and they know it. Floor has them eating out of her hands, and I can't think of a better experience for the performers. I'd smile too, knowing I was putting on a show that none who attended will ever forget, and those of us who weren't fortunate enough to be there in person will get to experience for ages to come, since it was preserved so faithfully.
Well, it's the "Floor effect"...
Floor Jansen has a stage presence equal to some of the greatest in rock history. Up there with the likes of Bruce Dickinson, etc. and her vocal chops are more than enough to back it up. She’s a singers singer. You can’t ask for more.

Kai intentionally drums I think in a way to not overshadow his predecessor. Kai is a very different kind of drummer as well. There are some songs on their last album where he sounds very similar to Jukka.
@@darkangel8880 Kai must be one of the world's best drummers. I understand why he left Wintersun to play with Nightwish though, even if it's sad, because Wintersun almost never releases anything for some reason.
Jukka put everything into the drums he worked so hard and sounded brilliant...and always smiling.

I just saw them May in in Lowell Mass. The new guy is very good but does not have the stage presence of Marco. No complaint however

Not everyone can play bass like Marko, I love his playing style. Things are not the same at all without him.

Floor is a vocal coaches dream -- the perfect person to model off -- I feel she added an aspect to the band it was sorely missing --- I for one will support her in everything she does because I find her delightful and inspiring

But I must say the other singers are great to. But in another way.
4:15-she takes all of a second to transition from opera mode to full-on belting. Just insane.

Shes a great singer, indeed! Floor Jansen has everything necessary for Nightwish. This woman got the whole world. Amazing!
She has a top 5 stage presence in metal ever. I put her in the same league as Dio and that's saying something. With her, the music comes alive and the performance becomes electrifying.
NIghtwish hit the gold mine with Floor, I sincerely hope she stays with Nightwish until the end. I know the guys had falling out issues with Tarja and Anette, but hopefully this doesn't happen with Floor. Floor was asked about this in an interview and she said she talked it out with the guys that if anything was going wrong they'd discuss it maturely like adults so it won't resort to some sudden "sorry you fucked up we need you to go". (Gotta love how professional she is). Anyway, here's to a new era of nightwish \m/ may it be fucking epic \m/

Well with Tuomas you can never tell...I obviously hope for the best because I love Nightwish with Floor and I think they are Made for each other but, like I said, with Tuomas you never know.
Things seem great, the band seems very happy now, new album is great , their concerts are evry year bigger and fuller of people. Their manager says that they have had their best numbers from 2015 to these days. But Tuomas is a strange guy. I Really love him as a writer and a composer but he must be a difficult person to deal with.
He has had nothing but sweet words for Anette for years and all of a sudden he kicked her out. They were doing great, their albums sold a lot of copies and their numbers were already bigger than the Tarja's period but, at some point, it came out that the band could not stand Anette anymore.
I really hope that this will not happen with Floor. They are doing great but with Tuomas you can never be sure enough. Let's hope for the best

There is no denying that Anette did a great job with DPP and Imaginaerum, but there is also no denying in the fact, that Nightwish has always been an escapistic band with dark fantasy themes; the power of a TRUE soprano voice, with lirical singing and high-pitched notes, gives the songs so much more meaning and impact. I am, for one, very happy to see Floor join their ranks - there is no one who can predict what amazingness Tuomas will be able to bring to the table with her powerful and yet dynamic voice. She is just purely amazing in how she controls her voice, and it does show, that she has had years of practise.

That's crazy to me (to try and comprehend) because I've known about them since I was like 11 or 12 in the very early 2000s. I wasn't a hardcore fan but I checked on their songs here and there over the years and I knew they changed vocalists etc. To hear you say that is almost like someone seeing season 5 of a show without knowing about it lol. Either way it will be a good ride for you.

Jukka.......Nightwish's engine room, suffers badly with insomnia although I can't conceive how ? If I used the sheer energy and stamina in that he does every concert, I would need to sleep for a week ! He must be incredibly fit to keep the beat going and absolutely knackered after each concert ! An incredible drummer and a solid guy solving the problem for Nightwish by sourcing his own replacement when he reached his personal health wall.
I sometimes feel Nightwish pushed themselves too hard. A unique, outstanding and innovative group of musicians ......fronted by the extraordinary Floor.......sublime !!! ❤

Yes, and it's the ultimate power! Tarja's voice was soaring above the music like the full moon, though Floor's voice became the very center of the song, and the clouds are glowing from within. As for Anette's songs, Floor acts like a blacksmith, forging the song 'til it's devoid of flaws.
Im so glad Floor's getting the love she deserves. I found out about her 13 years ago and she is the greatest thig to ever happen to my ears. Now, with Nightwish, I feel this is where she belongs.

She excels in even much wider field of styles. Try Shallow (Lady Gaga cover) from the Beste Zangers TV series (and her each and every other Beste Zangers performances as well) - and Disdain with her own band ReVamp (live performance at Grasspop 2010).

This version of the song, with Floor, is so beautiful that it gives me goosebumps and brings tears to my eyes. The whole band is so in sync and Jukka's drum solo is amazing. This is one of the best live performances of any Metal song ever IMO. This version of the band was my favorite too, no disrespect to Tarja, Anette or Kai, I am a huge fan of their contributions as well. ❤

I cannot help but cry every time I hear this song...it is amazingly good.....rendered by the incredible force of nature that is Floor Jansen . I first heard of Nightwish three weeks ago. I thank my guardian angel for steering me to the place where I heard someone talking about this superb band. Finland's finest , and one of the world's greatest. Thank you.

I love how they can barely stop grinning through the whole performance, the compositions are coming together perfectly in front of a hundred thousand people and they bloody well know it. This particular song has some great little moments... almost everytime Floor sings the "every moon-LIT-sight" part there's a reaction shot from someone in the band because it's just exactly right...
At 1:00 Emppu is willing his intensity into the audience.

You know, I noticed that, too, before I ever saw your comment. Watching this, I can see the guys in the band just beaming because they're so happy. There's a shot of Tuomas at 2:02, and he's so happy! That smile says a thousand words. And there's another shot of Marco, when he's looking over and smiling, and he's thinking "yeah, this is really perfect." This is Nightwish hitting on all cylinders. People can discuss the whole Tarja/Anette/Floor thing to death, and unfortunately, they do. But for me, at least, this is the best they have ever sounded live. I ordered the "Showtime, Storytime" Blu Ray set the day before yesterday, and I'm pre-ordering the new album with Floor.
The internet is a great thing, because the music coming out here in the States absolutely sucks, for the most part. Most of the interesting rock/metal, as far as I'm concerned, is coming out of Europe. And Nightwish is at the very front.
BTW, allmhuran, I can't help but chuckle at your comment about Jukka. He's the closest living thing to the Animal Muppet. He gets SO into his playing, and I can't help but laugh at 1:40 when he's waiting to start playing, he's bouncing around behind his kit, thinking "come on, come on, let me at 'em!" I know "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" will be a phenomenal album, but without Jukka (who is taking some time off for a much deserved rest), it won't be quite the same for me. He's instrumental to their sound. I will just have to wait for the next album, when the full Nightwish is together in the studio.

I love this song! I only found Nightwish at the start of the lock downs here in Texas. My wife worked for a manufacturing company, which was deemed to be a critical manufacturing company...as they assemble circuit boards that go into medical equipment. So...after I dropped her off at work..I was by myself. I couldn't go play golf, to a move, etc. So...I started listening to music reaction videos. This is how I discovered Nightwish.
Two and a half years later, I listen to NW all the time. My health has turned for the worse, but, I stay happy and positive by listening to NW and Floor! Just want you to know that Nightwish has effected my outlook on life so much! I stay positive and happy despite injuries that left me barely able to walk, even with a walker or my cane...Nightwish's music is always there to make me happy!!

Great, great, GREAT! I love how Floor brings back the metal presence to Nightwish. She can easily perform Tarja songs and with Anette songs she brings a mixture of Anette and Tarja into one person. You can clearly hear 'Anette' in the choruses and 'Tarja' at 03:40 onwards. I can't be more exited. I never believed Nightwish will find anything that will be able to replace Turunen that I will really enjoy.
Now lets hear what Tuomas can compose for her.

I always liked Nightwish and all their singers have had their appeals. But I prefer Floor above all because out of the three of them, she's the only one who acts like a METAL-singer on stage.

She has a better rock voice. Floor also has a good stage presence. Tarja has a much better opera type voice but she can't move around at all while singing. I can't wait for the new cd to come out with Floor as the singer.
tarja is more like professional opera singer, and floor is like professional rocker singer... i prefer Tarja in all styles, but you are right in your point :)
