I do the descending run at the guitar solo as a box shape starting at the 4th fret D string, so it goes 4th 2nd open on D string, then the same on the A string and 4th 2nd on the E (except the last time when it's open E rather than 2nd).
I find it much easier this way.
I like playing this song as it sounds harder and more impressive than it actually is.
