to me he can be broken but you wont see it til end game lol. Kagetsu just happens to exist and because he has insane crit rate due to high dex cap people underestimate diamont's potential because he doesnt crit spam as much lol. I prefer diamont to other heavy sword units because his bld makes him capable of using weapons on maddening no one else can without getting a speed penalty.
The hector emblem is Diamant’s fever dream. Ike is more in tune for Timerra since she can utilize the healing from Aether. Hector gives Damage reduction and Quick Riposte which fix his weird tanky but kinda fast issue. He's basically budget playable Ike, in that he has enough bulk to take a hit amd enough avo and speed to pad that out with a dodge or two. For successor though, the real perk is S swords and A axes. It's the only proficiency that goes that high on two things, which grants him not only tomahawk access (best feature) but brave + legendary swords. He's bulky enough to set up smash attacks to line enemies up for a corrin aoe freeze, and has built in hit +15 on player phase with few notable drawbacks. He also loves canter+ since he's a backup unit that doesnt need the hero's constant fill hp. You can easily line him up so he's covering 3 separate units with chain attack coverage, or reposition him to bodyblock a squishy. He's definitely above average, but not broken. He's actually alear's counterpart in a way, trading in higher avo for beefier bulk. Definitely the most classic FE lord. Also Sol is rare, but when it procs it feels amazing. While it's not reliable, it also goes to show that Diamant doesn't need his Lord perk to perform well.
He was arguably my second hardest carry. He was a straight forward brawler with massive hp, good defence and good strength, and he wasn't slowed when using axes. I threw the Seraph Robes on him to get him into the 80s and even 90s HP, and he's just fast enough to not be doubled.
Despite his low as sin dex I'm actually having a really fun time running crit build around him! I just forged a killer axe with the Corrin engrave and suddenly he has a 65% crit rate and deletes most threats
I really want to try running Diamant with Chrom and spd/dex +5. At bond 20, he gets +3 str, +5 dex, and +4 spd. At cap, he would have 33 dex in his personal class. While still abysmally low for that level of investment, he'd be able to trigger Sol 1/3 of the time. It's not the most reliable, but he could make a decent drain tank. Or just give him Hector and use Runesword for the same thing with much lower investment.
(hard mode) Diamant always ends up fast, but not fast enough. Wyvern Knight fixes this issue, with the class skill Air Raid. Gives +5 speed if on terrain only accessible by fliers. (Has innate axe + sword so you can very easily second seal) Give him a Lyn Engraved Killer Axe + Ike Ring and he’s amazing. He’ll always hit and pull some crits. Super fun.

Hector makes Louis SSS tier tho You could also give Diamant Sigurd and get that Sol proc rate up even higher if you want that too. Or Lucina to utilize her brave assist for free and have her dex buff
Ike!Diamant has been arguably my maddening run MVP so far. He's potentially the best smash weapon user in the game, as his speed and build are so high that he can wield a steel/silver greataxe with a Lynn engraving and not get doubled by most units. This allows you to be flexible when sending him into a swath of enemies - if they're bulky, you slam the greataxe, if theyre smaller it's killer axe time, and if they're ranged he's a great Tomahawk user. With pair up he also becomes safe against chain attack spam, making him one of the few units I feel comfortable sending in solo to tank 4+ hits with great aether up (after which he usually heals himself close to max as it'll proc ~1/5 attacks). Ike is great on off-tanks like him, because on traditional tanks enemies often end up ignoring you as your defense is too high, especially with resolve + great aether active. If anything I'd argue Diamant's "jack of all physical traits, master of none" is the exact kind of stat-line Ike wants. Overall I use him very similarly to how you use tank Timerra, trading the ability to one shot with sandstorm to either be crit focused or deal 50-70% with a great weapon on EP with the rest of the squad performing clean up duties afterwards. Without Ike (or Roy) I think he's aggressively average, and given Roy doesn't come back until quite late, I think you have to run with him with Ike or he's doomed for the sidelines.
He was by far my hardest carry in my first playthrough. I had Ike on him for most the game then switched him over to Roy with vantage and Wrath and he literally could 1 man army the entire map while engaged with Roy using the binding blade. He definitely is not an S tier unit but I am biased and think he is really good. He does take some investment and I think his Successor class is actually very good. He will be your hardest hitting sword unit at all times on that class with passable speed and high hp and def and healing himself once in a while.
@@ryanmcpherson2001 yea I agree that low dex hurts for sure. But swords are very accurate and fair fight helps him with accuracy. The axes just need an engraving to use well. The worse part about low dex is really just few sol procs which is a shame but it is very strong for tanking so I guess it's fair.
To clarify, 22 Dex is reasonable enough based on what I know for accuracy purposes. What I was referring to was Sol procs. And unfortunately a 22% chance really results in 1/5... At least we can use Chrom's S Rank bond ring skill, Rightful Ruler to turn it into a 27% chance. Still kinda low unfortunately
I find Effectiveness weapons are where he shines. His decent strength stat makes them do solid damage combined with their triple might, this will also increase his healing from Sol. His personal skill will help him land hits with the less accurate Poleaxe and Hammer while having swords gives him access to Wyrmslayer for Wyvern coverage. This makes him an excellent anti cav/armor/Wyvern unit. Brave Axe does have a good use on him, however. Against slower enemies like General, Great Knight, and Corrupted Wyrm he will be able to Quad against them, giving an upwards of 5 charges of his engage meter per turn. I found that, if you have the DLC, Hector is an excellent emblem for him. The extra defense makes him significantly bulkier while Quick Riposte, Sol, and effectiveness weapons turns him into an Enemy Phase power house.
Worth noting that his passive only prevents dodge tanking on player phase. It doesn't trigger unless he initiates, rich means if you're dead set on making him a dodge tank you can. Force feed him sp and Marth friendship to get it early and he's rather dodgy.

Ive been using diamant in his person class with hector and while he doesn't reliably double, quick repost and the def boost from hector has made him an absurd enemy phase tank and outclassed my louie entirely.
I used him on my first playthrough maddening with dlc. I had Ike on him and left him in succeseseur. Gave him a Lyn engraved tomahawk. He was pretty good. Didn't double much but didn't get doubled. Got a lot of crits with that and sol did activate quite a bit.
Didn't double but didn't get doubled is a perfect way of describing diamant. I found him better then a armor knights at tanking just because he didn't get doubled.
The build on Diamant is what saves him. He can be as fast as Lapis/Chloe because he is not weighted down. If he promotes immediately, at internal level 40, in his unique class, he will have 29 str, 30 spd, 16 build on fixed. Spd+5 (requires swapping Lyn around cuz a lot of units want this) + Marth ring + tonic/cooking, and he's at 40 spd and not weighed down by a silver/brave axe. He will also have equal accuracy to Warrior Panette. Effective 29.5 dex with his personal compared to her 30.
So I calc'd all the growth averages a bit ago (on paper, some potential human error), rounding all the growth to the nearest multiple of 5 for ease of understanding. AVG; HP:60, STR:30, MAG:20, DEX:35, SPD:40, LCK:25, DEF:30, RES:30, BLD:10. These are the averages of all 36 playable units, so both Vander' terrible and Mauvier's insane growths were put in the averages, so outliers were not omitted. So for Diamant in particular he has the game's absolute lowest dex, but has above average HP, DEF, and BLD, while importantly maintaining average strength and speed. Whereas Boucheron lacks in strength and Louis lacks in speed.
My boi Diamant! One of my favorite units. He looks ugly as a Warrior though. With Roy, he gets a boost in his sword power. With Marth and Lyn, you can make up for his speed. With Lucina, you can help his Dexterity (which is arguably his biggest weakness) and of course my boi Ike. Diamant is probably the best user of Great Aether outside of Panette IMO. Oh and Leif can increase his already insane Build.
@@degreeskelvin3025 I actually I already figured that out through some of the other skills inherited from the other rings like Bow Focus when I was training Fogado using Lyn.
@@degreeskelvin3025 wait so sword/ lance/ axe power is not active if you're engaged with the emblem? But it's active when you just equip the emblem right?
@@yohanes2034 nope. It HAS to be inherited. Blew my mind. And is kinda dumb cause the SP cost for those skills cam go up to like 6000SP I think. Like y have them and then limit SP like crazy. We already have limited slots
In my first run, Diamant was average. But he was useful on the Lumera map. He solo'd the Great Knight reinforcement spam. I gave him Lief, Build+3, Armor Slayer+4 w/Roy Engraving. He was doubling those Great Knights with his 21 Build (10 base + 3 growth, +3 skill, +5 Lief). And he proc'd Sol for just enough sustain.
He’s good; he’s not Ivy, but more than half the cast isn’t. He has respectable base stats and comes with Emblem Roy, noteworthy for Rise Above to increase his stats that stacks with the innate buffs from his Ring and a powerful AoE attack.
I just made my Diamant a brawler tank with either Ike or Roy and Smash weapons. He has enough Spd and Bld to not be doubled, and if he doesn't double anyway you might as well give him either a Silver Blade or Silver Greataxe.
What would you recommend Master Sealing Early-Mid Game? On my first run, I went, Alear, Chloe, Louis, Celine, etc. But doing this a lot of the units that I might have wanted to promote early. Like my Jean was level 15 before promoting and missed out on some strong levels, and his internal level became high. And my Diamont, Alcrest. And Ivy didn't get promoted until almost late game. And Anna didn't get used at all, due to how far behind she was. Anyway, do you have any recommended Promotions for the Early-Mid game. Where Seals are more uncommon.
Lucina's +5 dex and the typical canter+ from Sigurd are probably the best skills to get for him if you're going to keep him in his Successor class but I'm not sure if it's feasible to get both those skills in a normal maddening playthrough. Roy is really good on him but again if keeping him in his unique class an emblem that raises dexterity might be best, so maybe Lucina or the Thee Houses bracelet? Hector could also be a good emblem though cause he improves damage and bulk while providing an engage weapon that gives health when damaging the enemy so that+Sol could mean a lot of sustain during enemy phase. I've never used Diamant so there's not much more I can say about him.
As far as "Avoid Tank" Diamant, he shouldn't really have any harder time with it than anyone else. Fair Fight only triggers when they can COUNTERattack (aka player phase only). You don't really need avoid in player phase.
I don't think anybody gets buffed by Starsphere quite as much as him. He will skyrocket towards all of his caps and become a self-sustaining killing machine. I love when a unit achieves RD Haar power level. Just send them in a direction and get results. Chloé is strong, but I can't just throw her at an army and wipe them during enemy phase. Yunaka + Corrin and Madeline + Hector can do this, but there's only 1 Micaiah engravimg to go around, and Madeline wants an engraving for every weapon she has to either bump up accuracy or damage. Both, however suffer from maddening AI not targeting thinfs they can't hurt. Assign Decoy works wonders though. Especially when smoke walls and piercing glare don't quite cut it. Stalling enemies with smoke and fog has become very strong for me since they like to rush you from every possible angle, and that can be easily restricted to one.
I think Diamant is a fun unit but he felt like a liability running him over other units like Merrin Pannette Zelkov Timerra Kagetsu reclassed Fogado. Its not that he was bad just runs without him were easier.
Diamant on Chrom inherint Str/Dex from Edelgard or otherwise put Edelgard and inherit Spd/Dex from Chrom. Getting Hold+++ from Roy is a must. Put Revanche axe on it and have fun triggering Sol.
Pair up+vantage successeur Diamant running Ike ring and a crit forged killer axe/ragnell can solo maps with just a little bit of exp favoritism and a couple stat boosters. Load him up with tonics and a good meal before a map, throw him into the middle of the enemies, engage, and just end turn a few times. Got me through the connector paralogue on maddening by himself while I had griffin knight Alear with Micaiah ring just rewarp and canter+ himself away from enemies around the map
Diamant was a God in my first playthrough with Hector from the DLC on him. dude was the best tank i've ever used in FE. the guy survived 1v10s, healed himself while fighting, hit for 30+ with every attack, and was doubling everything. the DLC emblems are busted. my Diamant has 38 strength, 18 dex, 31 speed, 31 defense and 19 Build at chapter 20 while wearing Hectors emblem
He is most often the MVP on my team because of his enemy phase. Just be sure to make a Tomahawk with engrave for hit and crit (Weapon hit should be 100+) Hector and Ike are both good on him, but I prefer Hector with inherited Wrath and Vantage++.
In Wyvern or Hero, He really isnt much different from Lapis stats wise. He has one less strength and itll catch up in like 12 lvls. He has more hp and more build but the gap between their spd and bld will always be even. If he has 4 more bld, shell have 4 more spd. And as we all know, bld is great but youd always take more spd than bld when its 1:1. I think the best thing he has going for him besides being solid earlygame (fr he can double almost everything without a master seal) is that he can very easily get Canter before c10, which Lapis and much of your units cant unless you Micaiah grind. I have to check the spd thresholds lategame, but they are pretty high. He may have a hard time reaching those without a covert rally, so be aware of that if you wanna use him. Coverts rallys pretty good anyway from what I hear.
I made him a Wyvern Knight on my first maddening run, but I honestly find him a liability. It's kinda depressing because he was decent at his unique class on my hard playthrough.
I feel like hes a pretty Average Unit unless you give him Lyn. Lyn makes everyone good but Diamont becomes a very note worthy Lyn user IMO. With Lyn hes able to just Run in and brawl a group of enemies with high speed and Lyn increasing his dex for his passive, along with his good defense means he doesn’t get doubled, takes medium damage and has a good chance to heal himself.
I think I may skill slot speed taker on diamont because there is no other reason for him to use lyn he already has more than enough utility without her. Wrath and Speed taker are his thing and he's beefy enough I don't think he needs canter to poke in and out of punishment.
My Diamant with Lyn ring and a +3 tomahawk and a +5 wo dao ( Yea I found out later it is worse than a killer sword XD) are a good either player phase or enemy phase unit.
In my first maddening he did start to fall of in strength even to the point where criticals were struggling to kill bulkier units like paladins but switching him to Berserker fixed that problem
Mines got Vantage plus and canter plus with with Hector runesword. His weapons Tomahawk and Killer Axe plus 4 engrave corrin. I find him better as an axe user.
If you hit the same enemy with draconic hex multiple time,s does it stack? If so you could put it on multiple units and just nerf boss units into oblivion.
He's a tad bit slow in wyvern with that reduced build base and speed growth compared to Successeur (the build growth and speed base are identical) but the wyvern build certainly has value due to the mobility and the Flying tag. Warrior bases/growths aren't great compared to Successeur. Warrior fixes everyone so he can certainly fill that role but he doesn't benefit as much from it as others do because of his middling offensive stats that Successeur already fixes. That's sort of my general opinion on Diamant. He's a mediocre unit who's made good by the Successeur bases and growths (the weapon ranks also help). Makes it hard to be creative with him. I could maybe see an argument for Berserker, using his personal to fix the bad accuracy of the S rank axes? Though I find A rank axes in Successeur is more than enough, not to mention Fragarach is a crazy investment.
Gave him speed taker and his damage carried endgame, mediocre mid game but always tanky for me chick is nice. Only character that can use brave axe and still be fast and hit hard

Sword power is not active while Roy is engaged. You have to actually inherit the skill
@@TheJaredPunch oh ok. I misunderstood and this stuff was super confusing for me so I thought that's what you meant
I made him a sage because I specifically like the outfit on him....... :)
Your mad lad
Hector works for him but generally he’s speedy enough to double w/o quick riposte
@@erikbell1723 On Maddening? I'm surprised. I thought his speed growth was lower than that on his unique class. Good to know.
@@erikbell1723 maybe with speedtaker and speed +3, which is what I’m doing on hard, but I’ve not done maddening yet
His passive 15 accuracy didn't make up for his low dex. I was missing attacks constantly even with that bonus.
I like Diamant because I don’t have to worry about him. Not my best unit, but he’s reliable.
I really like the graphics, it helps a lot.
He is most often the MVP on my team because of his enemy phase.
Just be sure to make a Tomahawk with engrave for hit and crit (Weapon hit should be 100+)
Hector and Ike are both good on him, but I prefer Hector with inherited Wrath and Vantage++.
I have the DLC and running hector on him is very interesting
Rune sword gives health when damaging the enemy right? I bet that+Sol provides a lot of sustain.
Hector is so good on him.
My favorite of the lords of this game. Started on hard mode, so maybe my opinion will change on a maddening run.
My Diamant is able to tank things, but most of the time I find it hard to secure kills.
I think I may skill slot speed taker on diamont because there is no other reason for him to use lyn he already has more than enough utility without her. Wrath and Speed taker are his thing and he's beefy enough I don't think he needs canter to poke in and out of punishment.
Diamant my beloved boy
My Diamant with Lyn ring and a +3 tomahawk and a +5 wo dao ( Yea I found out later it is worse than a killer sword XD) are a good either player phase or enemy phase unit.
This guy is so cool ngl and he fits Roy the best because how painfully average they are as a unit
Loove this man
Hes good… just not good enough
But hector really helps him due to quick reposte
Are you going to do Jean and Anna?
Yes, I will be doing every character
Weird place to ask this, but guys, can emblem ring bonuses/abilities like +5 dex from Lucina exceed the cap?
Yeah it adds on even if you are at the cap
Yeah growth rates on screen lets goooi
Okay unit? Go wyvern. Love it lol
If you hit the same enemy with draconic hex multiple time,s does it stack?
If so you could put it on multiple units and just nerf boss units into oblivion.
I don't believe it stacks
Starting to think he'd be good as a wyvern knight, haven't tried it though
Gave him speed taker and his damage carried endgame, mediocre mid game but always tanky for me chick is nice. Only character that can use brave axe and still be fast and hit hard
My boyyyyyyyy
diamante is cool 😎
