Gorgeous! I just made one a few days ago which is very similar to yours except I turned my pot upside down with the water flowing out the bottom (which turned it into the top) of the pot so the birds have plenty of area to sit and drink. It bubbles a few inches off the top and flows down the sides to give a lot of sound.

Monsieur Fontaine, Beautiful creation and great how-to instructions. Just want to point out an important issue with water pumps. A couple of dire problems that can be avoided with burning them out is the water evaporating, This might be a no brainer, but what people don't realize is the fact that these motors use the water itself as a cooling mechanism. Once the water is gone, the motor will overheat and cease working. The second issue is dirt. If the motor get's choked with dirt and debris this to will burn it out. So, putting a layer of Dollar store plastic luffa scruby's,{the kind for cleaning dishes.} around the bottom followed with a topping layer of sponge sheeting material, {pond filtering} will prevent this from happening. This sponge layer can be easily removed & cleaned of all caught material, there by saving and extending the water pumps life.
However, I have had the same pump on my large fountain running most of the year except when I am cleaning it or taking a break - since 2007. Knock on Wood, it is now 2024.
❤I have always wanted to have this exact style of water feature. That pot sets my pitter patter to 11..I can not imagine what a pot like that would set me back...😮 but wow, is it ever worth it in the end❤
Nice, nice pot too. If/when I do myself will paint the inside top of the pot, put some rocks or other on the inside to significantly reduce the amount of water needed to fill but also add to the design, and then add some lights inside as well.
Absolutely stunning..!!!! The pottery is such a beautiful piece...combined with the lighting and the rocks..very professional..really really love it..thanks for sharing...🌈🌻🦋
Yes digging a large enough hole can be tedious in hardpan soil. I am going to lower my reservoir down to grade so I can install some rubber liner around the base in order to capture more runoff from fountain- yet another project 😁
Hi, I love this. Just purchased the large planter pot so I can create one. Can you share a list of all supplies, including the upgraded more powerful water pump that you replaced the original with to create more sound.
Fantastic job! What kind of accent lights did you use? Powered or solar? Great tips! I guess you have to drain the pot for the winter but what about the reservoir? Being underground I think it’d be safe?
I use powered lights rated for underwater use 12v Light Fixture amzn.to/3IJ5ACE LED Lamp for Fixture 3k 7W MR16 amzn.to/4arjpCr Drain the pottery especially if in cold Winter climates- otherwise removing the pump is fine for me here in NC
Remarkable! I've had all of the materials and supplies to create my fountain for almost 2yrs now, but I had a couple of other projects that I needed to do first and as fate would have it my big oak contracted something and started loosing leaves first then the limbs began falling indicating that it's dead at this point soooo, now I have to dig up all of my hostas and ferns, create a new place for them because they cannot tolerate being in the full Sun all day every day. I've had most of them for over 10 yrs. This will be the 3rd location for them in my yard. I believe instead of making a tight border I'm gonna give them much more space to grow bigger. They were really wanting to bust out last year . Aside from everything it will be even more beautiful than before it's just gonna take a little longer. BTW What are some hearty fast tall growing shade trees with beautiful canopies, low maintenance of course, for zone 8A?
Sorry to hear about your big Oak 🌳I to have some mature Oaks that are slowly dying from insect damage long ago. I keep spraying and hoping 🤞So a nice sub which will grow faster is any good Red Maple variety- Red Sunset has amazing red Fall foliage! Good luck with the planting and update us on your water feature when completed!
Be careful where you plant fast growing trees. Since they are fast growing they have shallow roots. I am also in Area 8A. Strong winds can easily topple pine trees, red maples, etc. Although palm trees also have shallow roots they do not tend to grow as tall as pine trees and the trunk usually will not grow much wider than the crown of the palm. I was surprised to see palm trees thrive in 8A. I appreciate the uniqueness of the palm trees. Of course if you are seeking shade it's useless. When I was in high school we lived in a newly built house with 23 mature pine trees. They were tall and few branches were visible below the peak of our roof. In just one strong storm (not a tornado although they are common here), the tops of 7 trees fell plus one tree trunk/top fell across the bedrooms and another on top of our cars. We had heard snapping and cracking all night, Mother and I were terrified. We eventually had every pine tree removed. It was expensive but necessary for us to feel comfortable and safe. When I purchased my second house it had 5 pine trees. Before I moved on-site every pine tree was removed and the stumps ground down as much as was possible.
really great looking, but I'm thinking I would put something on the top...and wondering how to make something work so it was just a bit more attractive over the top. Great job though it looks awesome.
Yes cool idea! You could fill the urn with large rock then have a porous plastic tray atop- plant some aquatic plants and the roots could flow down thru the tray holes
Superb video! About to make my own. What width rigid piping did you use? Thank you. ps such a shame we can't seem to get that type of segmented reservoir here in the UK, it's brilliant!
I live in phoenix. It’s hot. Any water feature without a continuous water supply evaporates very quickly so how would I go about putting a Phil valve and running a waterline to something like that?
What are all the parts you used and how much was the job for everything in total? Also what pump for the fountain did you use and do you recommend any others that are also budget friendly?
This is a large size kit so parts added up close to $750. Your supplier will suggest pump size based upon pottery size, I discussed the pump I used in the video but it ended up not producing enough overflow volume so I upgraded to a larger size which you can see in this later video ruclips.net/video/fkDJOyYqbAs/видео.html
@@OutdoorInspirations this feature looks amazing! I want this exact set up for my house. What size pot did you use? Iv been looking but can’t seem to find the rite color/shape/size that appeals to me yet.
Ideally you want the clear tubing to fit snug up inside the pvc so no glue or sealant is necessary, using lubricant like veggie oil to help push it about 6 inches in or so. Smaller tubing would require a sealant around it to keep water pressure.
Doing a Google search it seems they do make solar panel water fountains for more light work placed at the top of fountains, do not think they make for the heavy lifting pumps which run below the pottery. You may want to contact an online garden pond supply
Your project works well. Could something similar to your project be done with stackable interlocking planting towers. I've been looking at yours and several others so that I can know as much possible. Please advise.
Did the tubing from the pump slide over the pvc. You didn't show that part? Did it need a clamp? Also, for the side tubing to hold it straight was that just glued on there?
The pump tubing slides inside the main pvc pipe. Choose a tubing size that fits perfectly inside so its snug and will not require glue or silicon. Slides in the pvc about 6 inches or so- you can use veggie oil to help it. As far as the pvc pipe it stays rigid due to the lock nut at the bottom- I had to add a brace half way up inside due it leaning a little. Hope that helps!
I have a materials list in the description, there is a follow up video where I install an upgraded stronger water pump to create a better flow from the top ruclips.net/video/1eGx1RxxQgA/видео.html
You didn't show..how do you do the side support? How did you do the lights? Where is it plugged in to electric? Where is your water source coming from?
The side support I used a 14" piece of pvc to help pitch the main pipe- you could also choose to place some large river rocks to better center the top feed pipe. I plugged my pump into a nearby outlet- happened to by inside the garage. The basin hold all the water so I have to refill it as needed, usually top off the water every 2 weeks.
I listed most materials w/ amazon links down in the description - the large 36" water basin is pricey so try to find this and your pottery at a local garden supply
No due to how open the top is the water would just expand out and I live in NC that has mild Winters. But if you live in really cold climate I would invest in a water pump to remove the water just in case, buy a protective cover as well as remove the pump each season
Outside of the urn you can use any small or mini 12v uplight- keep the lumen output under 200 each. I used a commercial brand of minis that keep failing so do not want to mention. Here is a small wash that would also work from Siteone www.siteone.com/en/pt-fl1-bz-nl-pro-trade-fl1-flood-light-aluminum-housing-bronze-finish-no-/p/565700

Someone had asked before- I am not aware of any solar pump that would have enough power to pump volume of water needed- however there are topical fountain pumps out there
Not sure of a brand- alot of times the pottery is imported in from all over the world through wholesale distribution centers. Your local garden center could be a good source to locate a type/look pottery you may like. We get ours from www.market-imports.com/pottery/
My urn is about 23" wide and 31" tall- I picked it up at a place called Market Imports in Raleigh but the owner retired and closed down. Try a local garden center near you!
I went to a pottery specific supplier in Raleigh called Market Imports. They carry pottery as well as water basins and pumps. Check a local garden store near you, they should have or alteast could order in.
Summit mosquito dunks. But if you run the fountain often this will kill the larvae naturally as the pump fan churns up small things shooting water up the tube
Just want to do it with solar and I have 2 Pots 1 smaller 1 bigger and I just want to put the smaller one in with the bigger 1 Need to close Whole In the Bigger one
Why does the inside black pipe have to be so tall and so visible? You just have to introduce water into the pot for it to overflow, right? If it's because of water pressure pushing against the pump, it's not going to be much 6" under the top surface.
That is correct, you can make the pvc pipe any height to introduce the water inside- but the reason people extend these longer and just below waters edge is so it can create a nice bubbling affect atop the surface. In this follow up video I upgraded my pump to create more bubbling and cut in a ball valve so I could adjust the pressure ruclips.net/video/1eGx1RxxQgA/видео.html

Yes many times !
You're not wrong..
Where did you purchase the parts?
I went to a pottery specific supplier in Raleigh called Market Imports. They carry pottery as well as water basins and pumps. Check a local garden store near you, they should have or alteast could order in.
@@living2day617 I have moved my triple tier fountain 3 times! I cant live without it
I love this!!! What is the liquid additive to keep mosquitoes away? Also, what type of lights? Beautiful job!
Summit mosquito dunks. But if you run the fountain often this will kill the larvae naturally as the pump fan churns up small things shooting water up the tube
I didn’t silicon mine so you can’t turn it off. Mistake but to fix, someday
😮Uh oh! No worries, when you drain it and do a good cleaning of reservoir you can silicon the pipes/holes
Just want to do it with solar and I have 2 Pots 1 smaller 1 bigger and I just want to put the smaller one in with the bigger 1 Need to close Whole In the Bigger one
Email us a picture of what you describe getinspiredoutdoors@gmail.com

How tall is your pot please?
It is about 31" tall
@@OutdoorInspirations Thank you! It is perfect!
I bet this is a pain to maintain the water level lol
Yes indeed when the water flow is high, for this reason I installed a ball valve to control the flow
Anyone know the brand of this basin?
Little Giant DFB36 36" W x 36" L x 10.8" H Disappearing Water Feature Basin
Subterranean termites will love this.
@@OutdoorInspirations thank you
There are solar pumps
