Back in 1970 I rode Greyhound cross country from NC to LA to visit family. For a 17 year old it was an adventure. Can’t imagine anyone trying to do that now.
Hi Terry! I did the same in 1972. Chicago to Hayward Wisconsin. I just graduated 8th grade. The trip was both fun and exciting then. So much has fallen from the good service Greyhound once offered that I would not take the Greyhound around the block.
This was a great story. A lot of hay is made of Greyhound and the supposed typical Greyhound rider. However this shows the riders as human beings, often people struggling but with a need to travel somewhere. Greyhound is their only choice, and they deserve to be treated with more dignity.

I used to love traveling greyhound until the time Cincinnati loaders broke open my suitcase and would not let me off the bus to see the damage. I arrived in Peoria without my luggage. Had to threaten a lawsuit to get reimbursed and ticket cost refunded. I haven’t used them since.
Highway-dependent America should have the best intercity buses in the world. In Mexico, intercity buses are more luxurious than first class on US airlines.
When i lived in NYC I took greyhound buses to DC and Atlantic City often, with no problem. The last Greyhound I took was Anaheim to LA because the train was stuck at anaheim station. It was a plesant clean experience and the bus was on time.
This is what happens when a government puts money into airplanes, trains, roads and vehicles but not the bus service. There are no more bus stations, its just sad and shameful!
The government didn't do anything to assist Greyhound bus service drop as low as whale shyt, the company shareholders did that all by themselves. Greyhound used to recieved Government subsidies when they were a stand-alone company. Now that the German company Flixbus has bought Greyhound, the subsidies are no more.
