Great reactions!! Nightwish is a very deep rabbit hole, where every song is different with unexpected twists and turns. Virtuoso musicians, a genius songwriter (Tuomas, the keyboard player whom many call the "metal Mozart," is a master of emotion and melody), and the best lead singer alive today (Floor can sing anything, from operatic highs to full metal growls). I don't think I can say this about any other band, but I've never heard a bad song from them (at least not live with Floor). Like Queen and Pink Floyd, Tuomas knows how to write and compose great songs for eternity. The music of these 3 bands will still be a pleasure to listen to when you can't remember all the others! You don't hear Nightwish songs - you feel and experience them with every fiber of your body.
He is notorious for being a prankster on stage. The other guys sometimes get him back by secretly replacing his Corona with apple juice. Emppu hates apple juice!
Hello, AmericansLearn. Nightwish Army Phoenix new subscriber here for you. I loved your reactions to these two songs from the legendary Wacken 2013 performance. Yes, Floor can do anything with her voice. By the way, the guitarist you noticed roaming the stage and having fun with the crowd is Empuu Vourinen and he is the jokester on Nightwish. In a later song from this same concert "I want my Tears Back", he hatches a plot with our multi-instrumentalist, Troy, early on and then later in the song, cuts behind Floor and switches off her In-Ear monitor on her hip. Floor reaches back to switch it back on, but when Empuu cuts behind her again, she stares him down and says, "I'm watching you" as she towers over him. This band is so much fun to watch. My wife, Carol, and I got to travel from Phoenix to see them live at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco on May 18, 2022. The show was spectacular. Keep the Nightwish live performances with Floor (the third and current female lead vocalist) coming.
Another Soul Snatched by the Valkyrie Goddess. Fantastic Reactions , just the Tip of Nightwish/ Floor , she can do anything vocally .....you would probably love Floors first two bands After Forever and Revamp as well .......shes been a vocal beast since the late 90s .
If you want to hear Floor's lower range, she did a guest appearance with the band Epica and the song is "Stabat Mater Dolorosa". The song is a very old hymn. The Epica singer, Simone Simons sings the soprano part and Floor sings the contralto part. Simone and Floor are good friends.
Yay great reaction! "Ghost Love River Story" is such an epic song by Nightfish. That Wancken 2013 show is a treasure trove of stellar performances. To name but a few besides the ones you just did: "Gorytime", "Dark Chest Of Blunders", "Ever Cream", "Romantiphile and of course their epic show closer "Last Bride Of The Day". My personal favourite would be "7 Days To The Whales", but that's another great concert (Wobbly 2015). Just stick with this gig for a while and you can't go wrong. Cheers from Amsterhavn! 🤘
Thankfully Lauren I was persuaded to give Nightwish with Floor a watch and listen live ("The Poet and the Pendulum" - Wembley 2015) around 15 months ago having not previously heard of them and OMG I was blown away and have been ever since. At 57 years old I thought that I had heard it all from every musical genre but NO. Nightwish with Floor came along. Phenomenal band. Thank you for reacting to these two gems, two of so, so many. You are far from the first and will be far from the last to be blown away by Floor and Nightwish. For me it was this performance of GLS at the age of 68 , eighteen months ago. And yes. Th Wembley Poet was Floor’s performance of a lifetime of Tuomas magnum opus.

I iften get chills when I listen to good music, but when she hits that last note I get chills from head to toe, my eyes tear up and I have a hard time breathing. When I heard it live last November in Amsterdam I legitimately thought that I was going to faint, it was that strong of a reaction. And good on you catching Floors short growls in Ghost River. Most reactors completely miss it and I myself didn’t notice it for quite some time. Welcome to the Nightwish army. After over 25 years they are still unknown by so many people, particularly in the good ole US of A. Keep on board for the incredible journey which is Nightwish, you will not regret it. As regards GLS, it is impossible to have too much of this performance. As an aside GLS is a Tarja song and Ghost River an Annette song. Ensure your appreciation of Nightwish covers the two previous singers as well as Valkyrie Goddess, Floor Jansen.
I remember in that time I was helping out with video editing, 2004-2014 there were two greatest things, best concert videos ever done. The first was Phantom of the Opera with Tarja from End of an Era, and then they topped it with this. These two are literally the greatest thing anyone ever put together and filmed performed live.

Great reaction. Keep in mind that all songs on this concert was written for the two previous singers in Nightwish. Floor replaced the second singer, Anette, mid US tour in October 2012. She makes a fantastic job on all those songs considering the short time she had been with the band. You have only scratch the Surface of the Nightwish rabbit hole yet. 😊

I have been listening to them thousands and thousands of hours and have seen them live three times. And never getting tired of it. They are a big part of my life ever since. You talked during Ghost Love Score that Floor's singing was "siren-like", and in the song Ghost River, that is exactly what she is doing, singing as a siren, to get them to cross the river. Nightwish with Floor and Marko was just the best band of the 2000's, period.

Hey Lauren, bandmembers are: keyboardplayer and composer Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, bassplayer/vocalist/backingvocalist Marko Hietala, drummer Jukka Nevalainen, multiinstrumentalist/backgroundvocalist Troy Donnockley (he's not around in these songs but you will meet him on you're journey) and last but not least vocals Floor Janssen. This was the setup at Wacken 2013, nowadays it's a little changed. Drummer Jukka left active duty to be replaced by Kai Hahto due to him suffering of insomnia but he's still busy behind the scenes for NW. Also bassist Marko left the band completely due to mental health and a sort of dispise of how the band was treated businesslike, he's replaced by Jukka Koskinen. All bandmembers are finnish except for Troy, he's scottish and offcourse Floor who's Dutch!

I have liked and subbed for your Nightwish and Floor journey, they are all amazing, and Floor is the best I have ever heard. Most singers sing what they can, Floor sings whatever she wants amazingly. I have heard her sing many genres, and she still amazes me. Nightwish has music for however you feel, and all are different and great.

Rumours has it,Nightwish had Floor Jansen on theyr radar already after Tarja left Nightwish,but because they had such good friendship with the band members of After Forever,they choosed to not risk ruining theyr friendships over asking Floor to join them already then. That speaks volume to Floor. Also,after Tuomas called Floor being in her sisters wedding,and she accepted from just recovered from a burnt out state of mind,Tuomas went public announcing that Floor would be the third and FINAL vocalist of Nightwish,clearly hinting to that they finally got the vocalist they had been dreaming of for so many years already,and that they were tired of losing theyr lead vocalists,drama and going through auditions. Floor Jansen is the only woman i have crushed on twice,first time it was so far back in time i did not have internet access,nor did i have my own cellphone with internet access (i had a cellphone but just for calls and sms,thats it) So i could not search for her,the band or the song title. Much later on i learned to know that the song i had been watching on either Vh-1 or Mtv (cant remember wich),was Energize Me and the band was the band she joined as just a teenager still,After Forever. (Yes,same band with strong friendships with Nightwish) They released this song after one of the founders Mark Jansen (not related to Floor,although they both have long dark hair,and look somewhat alike facially lol) departed to create another band with Floors bestie,Simone Simons. The band is now known as Epica. Energize Me was Floors and her then boyfriend (and founder number 2 of After Forever) Sander Gommans love song to eachother,were both co-wrote on the song. If you ever go down that road,just know that Nuclear Blast Records own official upload has not stood the test of time well,after YT changed theyr resolution system. So its super blurry,but worry not. And Floor holds 2 of thoose 3 times. Everything Tarja and Anette did before her,Floor came in and perfected! To me shes the most versatile and best live vocalist out there! 17:17 The Wanderer is Emppu (pronounced "Emm-Pooh") He has a petname from the supporters too,they call him The Hobbit because hes soo short. He is the prankster of the band,pay attention to him in every video you do,he is always eyeing to do some sort of shenanigans,he especially loves to mess with Floor as he knows she takes it with a smile and laughter,but also will set him straight. A perfect example there is: Nightwish - I Want My Tears Back from Wacken Open Air 2013. If it hadnt been for Emppu constantly making people laugh within the band,im sure they would have a much harder time surviving as a band,especially with all that happened before Floor Jansen and Troy Donockley came in permanently (Troy is the British gentleman that plays more instruments then other people own socks,he wished to join permanently too right after Floor accepted to be theyr permanent lead vocalist,he was on the fence of joining earlier as he did not like Tarja much as a person,and im sure he wasnt convinced with Anette either,although he worked with them all on studio recordings and are in some of the music videos,prior to Floors arrival) But yeah,Emppu will always make you smile and laugh,as he looks at life in a positive way,he brings light into the darkest places,he is amazing. 17:52 Thats Marco aka The Viking,he plays both bass and guitar,thats why often you will see him with either his Viking Axe shaped bass,or his custom made double neck (bass and guitar all in 1) Tuomas Holopainen aka Metal Mozart aka Jack Sparrow (when he wear his hat,people say he looks like Jack/Johnny Depp lol,at least from a distance) The guy on the drums is Jukka Nevalainen aka The Pirate,he is my favourite drummer of alltime,just incredibly interactive with the crowd,passionate,has great showmanship with his constant drumstick spins,while not missing a single beat,he is just a complete package. Sadly this was his last big official concert for Nightwish,as heavy insomnia had bothered him also prior to this for some years already,so he needed to take a break to try and recover from it.
GLS was the 13th of 15 songs in the set list. GR was #4. GR was envisioned as a discussion/fight of sorts between the Devil and Mother Gaia (according to Tuomas, the author). It was written for vocalist Anette Olzon. She was fired at the end of 2012. Floor was asked to take over the rest of the tour. Post tour, she was asked to become a band member. WOA tickets sell out a year in advance. We expected to be seeing Anette (though she had been ill a lot). When Anette was fired and it was announced Floor was stepping in for the concert, most had a fairly positive view (many of us had seen Floor in other bands that opened for NW). However, for my part, I was amazed at how perfect she fit in. It was like she was born for the concert. It was EPIC!
Bohemian Rapsody is a score too. Just like, the name says it, Ghost love score. Nightwish are great story tellers. Even if you didn't know or heard the words, they take you on an adventure emotionally. And seeing them have so much fun on stage, makes everything even better. If you ever gonna react to more Nightwish songs, make sure to always pick the live version. :)
Wacken Open Air has been on of the best festivals I have been to and this video is cut from the one I happened to attend. This concert melted my brain a ton.

I'm a massive NW fan and I know you've received loads of Nightwish song requests - I thought I'd offer some similar Symphonic Metal bands as you requested! Firstly, a German Band called 'Beyond the Black' who don't get much love on RUclips for some reason - maybe 'Hallelujah' live in Japan, or official videos of 'Winter is Coming' or 'Is there anybody out there'. The guy who walks around and makes jokes is Emppu (Vuorinen). He is co-founder of the band together with Tuomas (Holopainen). The bassist and 2nd singer is Marko (Hietala). On Drums Jukka (Nevalainen) and not actually on stage: Troy Donockley from Great Britain. He is a master of pipes and much other instruments. I think, you will see him soon.

@@chrisdavis408: Actually, Floor does growl in the beginning of Ghost River. It's not the kind of growls on Yours Is An Empty Hope, but you also have to remember: Floor has been growling since After Forever and Revamp, before she joined Nightwish.

Welcome to NW and the world of symphonic metal. Now, you've seen about 40% of Floor's vocal capacities. The whole band work as a unit. No prima donna here. Everybody shines at time. Great reaction! Loved you observations and energy. The flaming bullhead is the emblem of Wacken Open Air Festival. Wacken is normally a 2000 people village in Northern Germany that is a big cattle ranching area, thus the bullhead. Wacken Open Air is one of the biggest metal festivals in the World. 82,000 people here. The organ is in fact just a keyboard stand that holds two of Tuomas Holopainen's (keyboardist/composer of 95% of their songs/poet and musical genius) Korg keyboards. It also has a holder for a bottle of red wine that he likes during the show. Lead Guitarist is Emppu Vuorineen (em-poo) and he is the prankster of the band and overall just fun guy. Since you mentioned Siren's I have several recommendations for you. I don't think I can say this about any other band, but I've never heard a bad song from them (at least not live with Floor). To get a sample of their diversity, I highly recommend any of these live performances (I would stick to live videos, Nightwish is one of the greatest live bands ever: (From Wacken 2013): Romanticide, Storytime, Ghost River, Amaranth, Song Of Myself, Last Ride Of The Day, Ever Dream; (From Wembley 2015): 7 Days To The Wolves, Yours Is An Empty Hope, Nemo, Elan, My Walden, While Your Lips Are Still Red, Shudder Before The Beautiful, The Poet And The Pendulum; (From Tampere 2015): Sleeping Sun, The Islander; (From Buenos Aires 2018): I Want My Tears Back, Dead Boys Poem, Devil And The Deep Dark Ocean; (From Tampa): Sahara; (From Hellfest 2022): Tribal, How's The Heart.

Like Queen and Pink Floyd, Tuomas knows how to write and compose great songs for eternity. The music of these 3 bands will still be a pleasure to listen to when you can't remember all the others! You don't hear Nightwish songs - you feel and experience them with every fiber of your body.

Hello, AmericansLearn. Nightwish Army Phoenix new subscriber here for you. I loved your reactions to these two songs from the legendary Wacken 2013 performance. Yes, Floor can do anything with her voice. By the way, the guitarist you noticed roaming the stage and having fun with the crowd is Empuu Vourinen and he is the jokester on Nightwish. In a later song from this same concert "I want my Tears Back", he hatches a plot with our multi-instrumentalist, Troy, early on and then later in the song, cuts behind Floor and switches off her In-Ear monitor on her hip. Floor reaches back to switch it back on, but when Empuu cuts behind her again, she stares him down and says, "I'm watching you" as she towers over him. This band is so much fun to watch. My wife, Carol, and I got to travel from Phoenix to see them live at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco on May 18, 2022. The show was spectacular. Keep the Nightwish live performances with Floor (the third and current female lead vocalist) coming.

Fantastic Reactions , just the Tip of Nightwish/ Floor , she can do anything vocally .....you would probably love Floors first two bands After Forever and Revamp as well .......shes been a vocal beast since the late 90s .
If you want to hear Floor's lower range, she did a guest appearance with the band Epica and the song is "Stabat Mater Dolorosa". The song is a very old hymn. The Epica singer, Simone Simons sings the soprano part and Floor sings the contralto part. Simone and Floor are good friends.
If you've not heard Floor sing opera, then you're missing out! She has such a beautiful range and tone. She is a gift to metal.

Yay great reaction! "Ghost Love River Story" is such an epic song by Nightfish. That Wancken 2013 show is a treasure trove of stellar performances. To name but a few besides the ones you just did: "Gorytime", "Dark Chest Of Blunders", "Ever Cream", "Romantiphile and of course their epic show closer "Last Bride Of The Day".
My personal favourite would be "7 Days To The Whales", but that's another great concert (Wobbly 2015). Just stick with this gig for a while and you can't go wrong. Cheers from Amsterhavn! 🤘

Thankfully Lauren I was persuaded to give Nightwish with Floor a watch and listen live ("The Poet and the Pendulum" - Wembley 2015) around 15 months ago having not previously heard of them and OMG I was blown away and have been ever since. At 57 years old I thought that I had heard it all from every musical genre but NO. Nightwish with Floor came along. Phenomenal band. Thank you for reacting to these two gems, two of so, so many. You are far from the first and will be far from the last to be blown away by Floor and Nightwish. For me it was this performance of GLS at the age of 68 , eighteen months ago. And yes. Th Wembley Poet was Floor’s performance of a lifetime of Tuomas magnum opus.

Ghost Love Score is my favorite aong of all time. And this is one of the absolute best performances.
I iften get chills when I listen to good music, but when she hits that last note I get chills from head to toe, my eyes tear up and I have a hard time breathing. When I heard it live last November in Amsterdam I legitimately thought that I was going to faint, it was that strong of a reaction.
And good on you catching Floors short growls in Ghost River. Most reactors completely miss it and I myself didn’t notice it for quite some time. If you want to hear more of her growling and harsh vocals you should check out “yours is an empty hope” live from Mexico City.

I remember in that time I was helping out with video editing, 2004-2014 there were two greatest things, best concert videos ever done. The first was Phantom of the Opera with Tarja from End of an Era, and then they topped it with this.
These two are literally the greatest thing anyone ever put together and filmed performed live.
Great reaction. Keep in mind that all songs on this concert was written for the two previous singers in Nightwish. Floor replaced the second singer, Anette, mid US tour in October 2012.
She makes a fantastic job on all those songs considering the short time she had been with the band.

I have been listening to them thousands and thousands of hours and have seen them live three times. And never getting tired of it. They are a big part of my life ever since. Great choice to include Ghost River! Way too many people miss that song - I think it's the 4th best song they have.
You talked during Ghost Love Score that Floor's singing was "siren-like", and in the song Ghost River, that is exactly what she is doing, singing as a siren, to get them to cross the river.

Hey Lauren, bandmembers are: keyboardplayer and composer Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, bassplayer/vocalist/backingvocalist Marko Hietala, drummer Jukka Nevalainen, multiinstrumentalist/backgroundvocalist Troy Donnockley (he's not around in these songs but you will meet him on you're journey) and last but not least vocals Floor Janssen. This was the setup at Wacken 2013, nowadays it's a little changed. Drummer Jukka left active duty to be replaced by Kai Hahto due to him suffering of insomnia but he's still busy behind the scenes for NW. Also bassist Marko left the band completely due to mental health and a sort of dispise of how the band was treated businesslike, he's replaced by Jukka Koskinen. All bandmembers are finnish except for Troy, he's scottish and offcourse Floor who's Dutch!

I have heard her sing many genres, and she still amazes me. Nightwish has music for however you feel, and all are different and great.

Rumours has it,Nightwish had Floor Jansen on theyr radar already after Tarja left Nightwish,but because they had such good friendship with the band members of After Forever,they choosed to not risk ruining theyr friendships over asking Floor to join them already then. That speaks volume to Floor. Also,after Tuomas called Floor being in her sisters wedding,and she accepted from just recovered from a burnt out state of mind,Tuomas went public announcing that Floor would be the third and FINAL vocalist of Nightwish,clearly hinting to that they finally got the vocalist they had been dreaming of for so many years already,and that they were tired of losing theyr lead vocalists,drama and going through auditions.
Floor Jansen is the only woman i have crushed on twice,first time it was so far back in time i did not have internet access,nor did i have my own cellphone with internet access (i had a cellphone but just for calls and sms,thats it) So i could not search for her,the band or the song title. Much later on i learned to know that the song i had been watching on either Vh-1 or Mtv (cant remember wich),was Energize Me and the band was the band she joined as just a teenager still,After Forever. (Yes,same band with strong friendships with Nightwish) They released this song after one of the founders Mark Jansen (not related to Floor,although they both have long dark hair,and look somewhat alike facially lol) departed to create another band with Floors bestie,Simone Simons. The band is now known as Epica. Energize Me was Floors and her then boyfriend (and founder number 2 of After Forever) Sander Gommans love song to eachother,were both co-wrote on the song.
If you ever go down that road,just know that Nuclear Blast Records own official upload has not stood the test of time well,after YT changed theyr resolution system. So its super blurry,but worry not. Second time i crushed on her was just in front of this concert you are reacting to here,Wacken Open Air 2013. I heard talks about a third vocalist for Nightwish,and at the time i had given abit up on the band,i felt like after Tarja it could never be the same,and certainly not better. But i was wrong,sooooo soo wrong! So when i decided to give this vocalist a go,give her a chance. It took me awhile (a few minutes),but then i start to recognize her....the female vocalist i had given up trying to find out information about,was once more in front of my eyes,and now they gave me her name on top of it. I felt flows of tears coming down my chins,as i once more heard that voice and saw that beauty. I was back in with the band in an instant! I could not believe that it was HER,with Nightwish permanently now.
And i have only crushed on someone 3 times in my life,wich tells you that i dont go crushing easily on someone. And Floor holds 2 of thoose 3 times.
Everything Tarja and Anette did before her,Floor came in and perfected! To me shes the most versatile and best live vocalist out there!
17:17 The Wanderer is Emppu (pronounced "Emm-Pooh") He has a petname from the supporters too,they call him The Hobbit because hes soo short. He is the prankster of the band,pay attention to him in every video you do,he is always eyeing to do some sort of shenanigans,he especially loves to mess with Floor as he knows she takes it with a smile and laughter,but also will set him straight. A perfect example there is: Nightwish - I Want My Tears Back from Wacken Open Air 2013. If it hadnt been for Emppu constantly making people laugh within the band,im sure they would have a much harder time surviving as a band,especially with all that happened before Floor Jansen and Troy Donockley came in permanently (Troy is the British gentleman that plays more instruments then other people own socks,he wished to join permanently too right after Floor accepted to be theyr permanent lead vocalist,he was on the fence of joining earlier as he did not like Tarja much as a person,and im sure he wasnt convinced with Anette either,although he worked with them all on studio recordings and are in some of the music videos,prior to Floors arrival)
But yeah,Emppu will always make you smile and laugh,as he looks at life in a positive way,he brings light into the darkest places,he is amazing.

The guy on the drums is Jukka Nevalainen aka The Pirate,he is my favourite drummer of alltime,just incredibly interactive with the crowd,passionate,has great showmanship with his constant drumstick spins,while not missing a single beat,he is just a complete package. Sadly this was his last big official concert for Nightwish,as heavy insomnia had bothered him also prior to this for some years already,so he needed to take a break to try and recover from it.
GLS was the 13th of 15 songs in the set list. GR was #4. GR was envisioned as a discussion/fight of sorts between the Devil and Mother Gaia (according to Tuomas, the author). It was written for vocalist Anette Olzon. She was fired at the end of 2012. Floor was asked to take over the rest of the tour. Post tour, she was asked to become a band member.
WOA tickets sell out a year in advance. We expected to be seeing Anette (though she had been ill a lot). When Anette was fired and it was announced Floor was stepping in for the concert, most had a fairly positive view (many of us had seen Floor in other bands that opened for NW). However, for my part, I was amazed at how perfect she fit in. It was like she was born for the concert. It was EPIC!
If you want to keep going down the rabbit hole I'd say Storytime and/or Romanticide would be good next stops

Bohemian Rapsody is a score too. Just like, the name says it, Ghost love score. Nightwish are great story tellers. Even if you didn't know or heard the words, they take you on an adventure emotionally. And seeing them have so much fun on stage, makes everything even better. I'm a massive NW fan and I know you've received loads of Nightwish song requests - I thought I'd offer some similar Symphonic Metal bands as you requested! Firstly, a German Band called 'Beyond the Black' who don't get much love on RUclips for some reason - maybe 'Hallelujah' live in Japan, or official videos of 'Winter is Coming' or 'Is there anybody out there'. Secondly, a band called 'Kamelot' - I suggest 'Sacrimony' live version or 'Liar ,Liar' official video.

The guy who walks around and makes jokes is Emppu (Vuorinen). He is co-founder of the band together with Tuomas (Holopainen). The bassist and 2nd singer is Marko (Hietala). On Drums Jukka (Nevalainen) and not actually on stage: Troy Donockley from Great Britain. He is a master of pipes and much other instruments. I think, you will see him soon.
The guitarist is named Empuu (he has a twin). He's the band's practical joker.

Welcome to NW and the world of symphonic metal. Now, you've seen about 40% of Floor's vocal capacities. The whole band work as a unit. No prima donna here. Everybody shines at time. Emppu the guy walking around just plays what the music need - no more, no less, he's the fun guy who love pranks, but also goes around make sure his mates are OK.

Great reaction! Loved you observations and energy. The flaming bullhead is the emblem of Wacken Open Air Festival. Wacken is normally a 2000 people village in Northern Germany that is a big cattle ranching area, thus the bullhead. Wacken Open Air is one of the biggest metal festivals in the World. 82,000 people here. The organ is in fact just a keyboard stand that holds two of Tuomas Holopainen's (keyboardist/composer of 95% of their songs/poet and musical genius) Korg keyboards. It also has a holder for a bottle of red wine that he likes during the show. Lead Guitarist is Emppu Vuorineen (em-poo) and he is the prankster of the band and overall just fun guy.

They are another female fronted symphonic metal band with. Darker and heavier then Nightwish their lead singer Simone Simmions is classically trained but very metal.
