  • Talk about an overwhelming feeling of joy. I was definitely not expecting to have a day like this. The flows had been really high recently and I thought the fish would have been pushed down stream. Lucky for me, they stayed home and came out to play.
    I doubt that I'll be posting as many videos like I did in recent years. I started a business and just don't have the time to get out as much, yet. Thats okay because I really enjoy my line of work.
    I hope you all enjoy this video. Thank you for taking the time to watch. Take it easy 🤙🏽

    Really enjoyed your video. Missed your excellent presentations but glad you’re OK and that you’re enjoying your new business. Wish you lots of luck amid much success. Good that you chose to release that beautiful brown and not let that meat fisherman turn it into his dinner.
    That river you found is awesome. Don’t let anyone know where it is. I like your camerawork that allows us to follow your indicator down the stream and watch the moment it disappears underwater - fish on!

    Man... I just love watching your videos. I feel like I'm right in the water with you. I think I've said if before, but I love the way you conduct yourself out there. Such knowledge, and those fish were tanks! So glad you didn't give that fish away to be eaten. Nothing wrong with eating them, but those old ones deserve to fight another day. Excellent video👍👍👍

      Hey Ryan, thank you for the comment 🙏. I am so grateful to have experienced that session. Overwhelmed with joy haha. I agree with you, nothing wrong with harvesting fish. I believe those larger ones should be put back to spawn and reproduce. They were really healthy. Hopefully there are a lot more in there that are in good hiding spots.

      @@FreeFormFlyFisher Thanks man. I'm definitly not going to give up on school (as opposed to others I know). I might get out tomorrow if the rain today doesn't affect the flows too much.
      Ever tried Wolf Creek in the town of Grass Valley? It's in a really pretty setting, looking almost like one of those PA streams and its got little rainbows and browns. A bunch of people started fishing it during the Lockdown, but now theres almost no one there anymore.

    • @FreeFormFlyFisher
      @FreeFormFlyFisher  4 месяца назад

      @thecalfisher I have not. Just checked it out on satelite. Those smaller creeks are so much fun. The trout have the most amazing colors and patterns. Dry dropper might be the weapon of choice.

      @thecalfisher 4 месяца назад

      @@FreeFormFlyFisher fs the rainbows are some of the prettiest ive seen. Got some orange tips on the dorsal fins. I will say the flows fluctuate a lot and so the dry fly bite is hit or miss.

    Fly fish the lower american. Bigger steelhead that fight more because of the crazy current.

    • @FreeFormFlyFisher
      @FreeFormFlyFisher  4 месяца назад

      Almost every year I buy a card and I never go. I think it has to do with it not looking like a normal trout stream. You know, with like boulders and other features or structure. And yea, crazy fast current. Do you fly fish it for steelhead?

      @ArtOfAngling Lightning Strike Ball Indicators. I've been getting them here for the past 5 or 6 years. I use the 3/4 size.
      www.bobmarriottsflyfishingstore.com/ball-strike-indicator
      At one point it was the only place I could find them so I've only bought from here. For me, the best indicator. Slides over tippet knots. Just pull the tooth pick out, adjust, plug it back, and cast.

    • @FreeFormFlyFisher
      @FreeFormFlyFisher  4 месяца назад

      @brandondooley5091 hahaha its a tough little stream. The first few times I fished it, I was landing rainbows in the 3-5 inch range. I'd catch maybe 3 all day. Then I started hiking deeper. Either up or downstream, and apparently, that's where the big boys hang out. Might have to bush wack a little and cross a few times but it's worth it.

    • @brandondooley5091
      @brandondooley5091 4 месяца назад

      Ya Ive hiked a couple miles up stream and the poison oak starts to get thick in spots. Water is low enough you can just hike the stream up though. Went up yesterday and nothing. Frustrating after watching your video for sure😂 but I’ve only been fly fishing for less than a year now so it’s going to take some time to get that technique and presentation down.

    • @FreeFormFlyFisher
      @FreeFormFlyFisher  4 месяца назад +1

      @brandondooley5091 you'll get it. Just like anything else, takes a lot of practice and you'll learn from your experiences. The poison oak is no joke there. All over that stream. Last year I walked right next to rattle snake. It was just off the trail. So keep your eye for those too.
