May / June is when bass spawn up here in norther WI, and we don't have any herring or shad in our lakes, we do have shad in the Mississippi river, which I plan on making a pilgrimage to La Crosse this spring.
Early May is when they start spawning here! We seem to be holding onto winter this year too. Shallower lakes are 48-50 degrees mid day, and most lakes are still 45ish
Swing head jig is always a go to. Had lots of success and won several pot tournaments using it. I look forward to these videos every month! Thank you sir!
Thank you for taking time to help educate us recreational fishermen. I am 72 and used to golf but after 6 knee surgeries including both being replaced, needless to say my golf game went south (at least to my standards) and fishing took its place. Also really enjoy your FB posts especially when it comes to you fishing with your family! Wishing you the very best this year.
Thank Edwin for all the advice and the info on how to use these baits. Think I speak for everyone when I say we appreciate everything. Tight lines sir have a great day.
Had to go back and make sure I heard Murray right. That lake is in my backyard and to get some input on it is huge. I appreciate all the knowledge you share especially about these good ole Oklahoma lakes.
Thank you for all the great tips and content. The way you convey your knowledge clicks with me. I took my son out for some kayak fishing yesterday. Man I wish I would have watched this video before we went out we may have had a more productive day. Keep up the great work buddy and thank you for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us.
As a Oklahoma Bass fisherman it’s very helpful to know what to use when I’m on Grand. Been following you for 25 years. Thanks for the content and your time for doing this.
it was a privilege getting to meet you at redcrest the other month, thank you for taking the time to talk with me. I did buy some of your pecans. the creme brûlée was mine and my kids favorite. so good and I'll be ordering some more. thanks for the fishing tips like always
Thanks for the tips! That Gilly really does work well! Not only beds but weed edges, docks, etc. This is a much appreciated segment each month! Thanks!
Yesterday was the first day I got go fishing for bass. I’ve been fly fishing for trout recently. Water temp was 66-69 degrees. Video was a great help to get my father and I to get to started.
I absolutely love these videos! They have helped me the past couple of years in our local tournaments! Oh yeah, I always pick you for my fantasy team!!!
I live in Michigan but I think I’m going to fish that swing head with a tube. I just ordered some Tokyo rigs for the gilly. Thanks Edwin. This monthly tips are Awesome!
I have been throwing a shakey head with a South African, or a green pumpkin candy bottom hopper worm, and have been doing quite well during March. Until the bites stop I plan to continue through April. Love your channel, keep up the great work.
Edwin, I enjoyed watching you guys on the “Bass After Dark” podcast. The respect and admiration you showed for Mr. Brauer was cool to see. Good video… I enjoyed the swing head info.
Great stuff Edwin! I saw you fishing the Gilly in that RUclips video and as soon as they reached my area I was on them. They are awesome this time of year but I have had trouble getting hooked up when I use an EWG through the side. Coming out the top has given me a much better hook up. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with all of us.
Hiya Ed, I've been watching your videos for a number of years and always get another tip to add to my arsenal. Thank you from Northern Michigan! Up here my local lake temp hasn't hit 40°F yet... And it is gin clear. Have fun and God's peace everyone!
Great information. Always enjoy baits of the month. I especially appreciated the description of the different frogs. I haven't fished frogs before but I may give it a try.
Always love your videos each month is a treat waiting for your videos. I have tried many of your techniques and I have caught more fish. I still have not mastered slow finesse fishing yet but I'm giving it one hell of a try. Thanks much God bless.
Great info. I like that I can take fewer baits that are recommended rather than lugging around more than needed. Plus; also, the rods needed to go catch them fish. Thanks for the suggestions
Awesome!!! Love the tips. Thanks for the opportunity. Wish you would've kept the gilly tip on the down low lol it helped me catch a couple bed fish last year. Definitely a game changer.
Always look forward to the monthly videos! Going to have to try the copperhead color frog. Have never thought about fishing a bluegill bait on a Tokyo rig. That is why I love the videos. Always something new to try. Thanks again!
I flipped a Tokyo rig in beds on Toledo Bend with a bluegill colored swimbait on it and crushed them this whole spring. It's like they can't handle it on their beds and for some reason they tend to get the hook most of the time unlike when they pick up a Texas rigged plastic off the bottom. I didn't get a double digit this year but had a couple in that 8 to 9lb range and a bunch of really solid fish. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
Thanks for the tips on the swing head jig, i've been trying to learn how to fish that lure for a couple years now without much luck of hooking up. Can't wait to try your way of setting the hook
I haven't been watching lately and dang have I missed out. I will be putting you on my schedule to check every day. Thanks for taking the time to giving tips on how to use certain baits. God bless.
Thanks again for the info, really enjoy these even though I’m way south of you in Texas and we’ll soon close on the spawning season and notice a lot of comments north of you still in low 50’s and we’re approaching 70’s soon but I do what I can to keep your tips in mind. The tips on cranking have really helped me catch more and better fish.
Awesome advice as always and would love to try these techniques here in Northern VA! Good luck with the rest of your tournament season. Also, loving the "After the Cast" channel.
Thank you so much for taking the time to put these videos out. Hope to see you sometime here in the Santee Cooper area. Will definitely try the third bait. In your opinion, is bed fishing the better target or those bass that have yet to pull up or have already finished spawning?
Thanks for the videos you put out. ALWAYS informative!! Best of luck on the 2024 season!! You are one of my three favorite anglers to watch and a class act amongst all the guys on tour. AOY wishes to ya!!!!!
Awesome video. I’m definitely going to try the gilly on a Tokyo rig. Thanks for the tips. Good luck out there on the tour. Looking forward to the next one.
What an awesome time when they start blowing up on the frog. Can't wait to get out. Thanks for the time and work you put into your vids. Tight Lines! 🐟
Thank you Edwin! Awesome video! Been using those gillies too...major confidence bait for me! I'm gonna try that swing jig for sure...have never tried that! I always appreciate these videos to learn about new technics...as you say..."think out of the box!"

You’re always on point!!!! Thanks for sharing. How are the ponds coming?
Early May is when they start spawning here! We seem to be holding onto winter this year too. Shallower lakes are 48-50 degrees mid day, and most lakes are still 45ish
Same in Michigan, water won’t get above 45 🤦🏻♂️
@@PursuitofGameOutdoors Yup. I’m in southern New England. Looks like it’ll start getting a bit better soon but no where near spawn temps
@@krisramos7453 I just want low to mid 50’s….wreck em on a chatterbait all day long lol 🔥
Swing head jig is always a go to. Had lots of success and won several pot tournaments using it. I look forward to these videos every month! Thank you sir!
