I completely agree with the dungeon aspect. I was so sad to learn that there was no actual dungeon for the Altabury arc and the fact that the magic academy was not a dungeon. The game was so enjoyable that I wanted more and more.
I seem like the only person in the world who thinks this game should be an 8 to 8.5 out of 10. It was very good, but not Atlus's best work at all... But i give them originality props for removing the persona school life structure from the games, and changing the setting entirely. Metaphor: ReFantazio is a smash hit because its a very good game when other studios are releasing flops, and not meeting player expectations.
I completely agree with you, but I feel this starvation for a good game led me and other people to rate it a bit higher and that's totally fine. To each their own. There are some things I don't like about the game, and therefore 8.5 might be a more objective score. But I'm such a sucker for fantasy settings and persona that the mix of the two made my year.
No you're definitely not the only person in the world lol come on. Ive seen a lot of people criticize the game even on its subreddit. Its just a matter of how important those mediocre aspects are to people, some choose to ignore them since they don't matter to them as much.
I’m gonna give this game 10 out of 10 simply because no game is perfect, really. The dungeons and varieties of enemies and bosses could be better, a lot of things likely to be repeated at the very end. But the thing is, there is another great game that suffer from this a lot more which was Elden ring. I loved Elden ring but holy shit those ruins around the map is just a room with a copy paste bosses and a chest behind it and some of the most boring side dungeons, but i still rated it 10/10. Theres always room for improvement and thats a good thing. I also actually appreciate the different approach to the main dungeons in this game, because persona formula seems to be too predictable for me, and this game actually caught me off guard many time. Side dungeons even though a bit samey but still got quite unique layouts and is a huge step up from Mementos. While i also way more based towards p3 and p4 than other titles and it pains me to say this, but the dungeons in those game sucks ass. I also loved the characters, even someone like Strohl is also quite a nuanced character. The way he feel bad when he bring Joanna to execution just to achieve their personal goals and stutter when seeing you turned into a human and for a moment might saw you as an enemy because his past, and then he felt so guilty and trying so hard to make up for it at the end. Louis is also such a cool and well-written character. I also really enjoy the music as well, this is also strongly related to personal preference, but i don’t think the ost in this game is lacking compare to any persona games. Hopefully it can win goty.
Yeah those reasons are why I gave it a 9.5, also finally a p3 fan who admits that the dungeons are ass😂. I played p3 solely for the story and characters. I still think the persona 5 dungeons are better but the story is a big step up from p5. The medieval setting made for an epic tale and the music made it better. If the game had 1 more dungeon as big as the first one, it wouldve been a 10/10 for me.
@@acwano true, p5 palaces are quite goated, but the side dungeons in this game intrigued me more than mementos so it kinda balanced things out. And when i played the og p3, the only reasons why i can cope with Tartarus is to auto pilot through it. But i still remember how i just died once and lost 20 floors of progress many time. Oh boy. P4 is just corridors lead to another room and to another corridors. But still my fav tho 😂.
Yeah pretty much same. P4 is my fave cuz of the characters and the vibe of the rural village. If p4 had dungeons similar to p5 palaces, we would have the best JRPG of all time ngl.
I know you mentioned the racism thing, but i do think people in a way can be born racist, not literally out of the womb, but more so because people notice differences, either its skin color, or body weight, or something along those lines. I think it all stems from noticing differences bc if you think of it humanity either started out as kids. When i was a kid for example other kids would be builled if they didnt fit in with the rest, this happens to different races as well because skin tone is a very easy to notice thing when youre young especially.
I understand, this is kinda what I was trying to say. People are not born racist straight out of the womb, but if they are born in a racist world or a world that doeant condemn it, they might become racist. Which is why Heismay's character was very interesting to me. Anyways, very interesting topic, thanks for sharing your view.
Yeah thats usually how most JRPGs tend to be sadly. I personally was kinda overleveled so it wasnt tedious at all but I can totally see it. Some final bosses in JRPGs are completely tedious, but I try to focus on the amazing journey that got me there instead of the mid final fight.
@acwano I was an average of 80. This ain’t my first rodeo. And no not most jrpgs aren’t this way. The boss rush at the end was exhausting & I wanted it to be over.
@@UncleAlfieDripYeah maybe "most" is a little much, but I have played many JRPGs where that is the case sadly ( that or the final boss is just a complete pushover). Like I said, it is unfortunate but we can try to remember the beautiful journey instead of the tedious final boss.
When i played on hard that posion dragon took me like 8 hours, then i gave up and went back and grinded. Then did all the dragons. By the final boss, i was able to easilly beat it in like 3 rounds. That poision dragon was more difficult than any fight by far@@UncleAlfieDrip
@@UncleAlfieDrip The boss rush is optional. You can take on all or none or however many. Moreover while I agree the last boss was a bit tedious I have also found in other jrpgs that the final boss is a bit spongy and takes a bit. With all that said the boss' difficulty always vary depending on how efficiently you build your team. There are several different valid ways to get big damage or make opponents miss turns or whatever. You aren't forced into one way and the game gives you more than enough options to experiment with.

The one thing I could do without is that little cinematic at the end of every day 'a new king draws nearer' with no option to skip. Annoying as hell.
Hahahahaha, I didnt have a problem with it personally but i can totally undertand😂.

That last boss fight almost made me dislike the game. Game was fun then it got tedious at the end. 😮💨
