  • ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid is still one of the best-selling sedans out there, but it has thrown off its bland, boring reputation for something better - and more efficient - than past generations.

The camry has been introduced here in Spain, Europe, just this month, and I'm evaluating it in order to decide to buy it or not. Your review has helped me a lot. Yes, it's not an ultra-exciting car, but in some way, it does have it all. Thank you very much for your excellent review, congrats and regards from sunny Spain!

The difference between Eco, Normal, and Sport (or PWR) modes on Toyota Hybrids is it changes the accelerator pedals sensitivity. So Eco mode makes the pedal less sensitive so you have to press farther to get it to go anywhere (this helps you stay in the Traction Battery's accelerator range) Normal levels out the accelerator pedal so it won't be augmenting anything. Sport makes the pedal more sensitive so it feels like the car is taking off faster at slower speeds.

Vanilla ice cream is the best selling in supermarkets and restaurants. But most popular doesn't mean it's most loved. Camry is arguably the most popular mid-sized sedan in terms of sales. Having owned a 2002 Camry for 15 years that my children, wife and I drove for almost 300,000 miles was the most reliable car and utilitarian vehicle I ever owned. Was it fun to drive? Not really. But it was very component, handled and rode well and never let us down or stranded. Was it a great looking car? Nah, but it was aesthetically acceptable. Our Camry offered great bang for the buck as well as safe and dependable transportation. But there was never any excitement to driving it and that's okay because it offered so many other positive attributes that it made up for those that were lacking and honestly really didn't impinge on the ownership experience.
It's obvious the Camry has now moved more upscale and the sport trim models could actually be considered somewhat exciting to drive and more economical than ever if you opt for the hybrid and I gladly welcome those changes.

Fun to drive is hard one in suburban areas or city streets unless you go to the twisties and seek out back roads. I agree csmry isnt the sexiest car ever, but i have a 2017 xle and love that body style, the curves and interior are very pleasant. Again not a sports car but on highway it'll scoot 85 mph easy without hesitation. And when i wanna drive ke a old man and get 550 miles a tank I'll slow way down snd obtain that just as well. Great cars, lil dull, but not having to worry about maintenance, or horrific recalls helps ease the mind as well.

@Michael Manjin...a good comment and realistic. Toyota MAY have figured out that to do much better than Honda, they need to address driving dynamics. Our 3rd gen prius was a typical example of numb driving', along with other Toyota models. The refresh Sienna SE was excellent, and the 4th gen Prius is much better, too. Thanks. PS..the latest Rav was a disappointment, in that area.

Ale Bob well sure that’s ok this is why competition is good keeps Toyota’s better and more affordable with more gadgets I’m not saying it’s better then the Toyota I’m just saying mileage wise it’s up there. I’m no fan of CVTS but if your not a power plant geek and just base your idea on a brand and word on street and personal opinion you’ll live in that bubble forever. I’d love to hear your opinion.

Right Lane Hog I currently own a Hyundai Ioniq with a lift back and am amazed at how much I can pack into the truck of it, Especially odd shaped items that would never clear the opening of a conventional trunk. It just improves the usefulness of a vehicle.

@@jsboening I bought my first hatchback in '99 (Mercury Tracer/Mazda 323 3 door) and even though it was a tiny car it was incredibly adaptable for carrying cargo. In 2005 I bought a Pontiac Vibe wagon which can carry a 9 foot ladder and handle a small load of 2X4s better than most of today's mega-pickups. Unless I hit the jackpot and get a budget to acquire several cars, I will never buy one with a trunk again.

Factor in that diesel fuel is more expensive... $2.61 unleaded vs $3.09 diesel per gallon average in the Midwest as of July 2019. Also in my area, many gas stations don’t have diesel. Far too inconvenient.

The "3" might achieve 200.000miles (if you achieve 200k before the batteries wear out after 10-12years)? But with the Camry EVERY one reaches more than 200k miles, some even more than 300k miles!!
