I've had this bottle for a while not open because I wasn't sure if it was a special occasion bottle or not. I love Glen Dronach and had several 12s and 15s. I finally opened it and I think I'm leaning towards the GlenMorangie 14 Quinta Ruban for the win, but I haven't had that many Port finished Whiskeys. Those extra four years seem to have a big impact.
I have never really tried a Sherry Whisky or Port Whisky.... But after that episode.. wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy interested now.... lol. thanks for making me learn and laugh!
I get my hopes sooo high that i'm already thinking of checking the local price and availability, until Daniel says, 'Wait a minute… where is the mid palate body?'
Unfortunately they're completely correct. Bought a bottle a few weeks ago, and that was our impression as well. It's not bad at all, but it's a letdown. Around the same price you may want to look at the Dalmore Port Reserve
I found it waxy on mouthfeel... Although the mid-palate does fall flat, the finish comes back with milk chocolate and a hint of baking spice. The front palate is fantastic. I would say still give it a try. Overall, I would put this slightly ahead of Quinta Ruban. Of course, that could be reversed on any given night.
I first thought you were doing Peated Port Wood which is sooo tasty now I’ve got to try just regular port wood dronach because I always love a port cask finish scotch
I would love to see you guys revisit some of the stuff you did at the beginning of the channel. I’d like to see what Rex says about balcones single malt at this stage in his whisky journey
Was honestly disappointed by this. Maybe my expectations were too high, but on trying it (I was really looking forward to it) I just thought it was light on sherry and port. And like you said it vanishes quickly. Working in a whisky bar I’ve had a lot of Poe-left try and love it. Some of my work colleagues like it. I wasn’t impressed, at all.
Hey guys love the videos, but would you ever consider adding in a rating to your videos, for example giving whatever drink you're trying a rating say out of 10 so that us mere mortals can have a quantitative idea of how good it is
Nice to see you guys! Great review! Hey, I was wondering if either of you two ever smelled this cologne called Pure Malt by Thierry Mugler! Not to stereotype but you guys would dig that scent! Keep it up...
Must go back to the Glendronach Portwood in a couple of weeks (viz 1 month) and see what is going on then...it may be that NOTHING is going on and the only the flatness has increased...I 've had that unfortunate experience with Benriach Portwood....good luck
What is a good starter complex whiskey? (If that makes sense) I’m good with Elijah Craig, four roses and wild turkey 101. Really like the 101. What is a good next to buy bottle for a little kick/flavor that will challenge the pallet?
Maybe not extraordinary complex, but you could try Woodford Reserve Double Oak for something a little different. Or, because you like 101, you could try the Rye version.
If you had to pick between Wild Turkey 101 (£26) or Buffalo Trace (£19) what would you go for? In terms of bourbon I've had JD Woodford and bullet. Want to try different bourbons, I'm leaning towards the wild turkey being higher proof I know it'll be a new experience but any thoughts?
Nice! I've been waiting for them to review literally anything from my favourite distillery, Gelndronach, for 2 damn years, you bastards. Could you guys please stop butchering their name in the video, though? Either way, I like the cheeky move, comparing it to the way lesser known counterfeit Gelndronach, though! Could we please take a minute to apprechiate how handsome and benevolent Rex is, though? Other than his hobbity business partner, THIS is is a man of true genius and STILL he bothers doing this show with him. Could it be that the biggest mooch known to mankind is also the biggest saint? Probably. Keen on improving peoples lifes with his amazing insight and unbelievably good looks - my god I can barely contain myself.. But before this gets out of hand and turns into a violently sexual fanfic: Rex, thank you for making this world a better place. Oh, and to you, hobbit: Maybe one day, you will come close to our true god's magnifficence. Ave Rex.
Since the Friar Tuck of solidarity was shaved off when quarantine guidelines were reinstated, does that mean Rex has cursed the people with his prematurity?
Two questions, one for each of you. For Daniel, I've heard you mention on several occasions that you have ordered whiskeys from London, and if I remember correctly you had them delivered to your friendly neighborhood liquor store. I've also seen online that some retailers will deliver to liquor stores in some of the states where home delivery isn't legal. My question is, how do you ask your local store if you can have alcohol shipped to them for you? Is there an etiquette involved? like should I not order something they have, even if it's significantly cheaper and buying a bottle from them as a thank you when I pick it up? For Rex, when you first visited South Carolina and saw people wearing "go cocks" shirts, how long did it take you to learn that they aren't a bunch of nymphomaniacs, they're just expressing support for one of the state' college teams?
Maybe treat them like your FFL gunshop? Always be on good terms with your butcher, baker, grocer, gun dealer and booze vendor. They can and will make your day rough if you piss them off. 😉
I know one of the main points of the whisky tribe is for everyone to enjoy whisky without judgement, so if someone wants to go kick the person that said the channel is try hard I won't judge.
You guys should rank the top 10 port woods, then the top 10 sherry, etc etc.
Good ol' Gelndronach!
Smells like dizzort!
Love me some GlenDronach 18 Allardice...
aaaand now that the title is edited.. this comment will forever make me look stupid. Thanks Fancy Dan!
@@chrisgreer6224 part of my plan all along
The whisky vault has never been this awesome, I love drinking along with these video's. Just feels like being with good friends
Finally back to scotch!!!!
arielkotler - fuck yeah
Leave Dan alone! I appreciate the effort he puts in shooting and editing.
Love me a Gelndronach. I love all the Geln's of Sctoland
that's a lot of Glen's
Love you guys! I continue to learn and laugh. What more could anyone ask for!!
You've said it before gentlemen, if everyone likes you you're doing something wrong. Keep making great videos and have fun with it.
Wood, Alcohol, yes and yes! Scotch is to be appreciated and experienced, and the Portwood Glendronach is one of my favorite experiences
Keep up the great work gents. Always love watching the episodes. Keep safe, cheers 🍻
Damnit, I thought they'd try a 12+Portwood blend to see if that helped the flattening 💔
Glendronach 12 was my birthday present to myself this year. Love it!
I LOVE my Glendronachs. I wasn't sure about adding the port wood. Now I have to, DAMN YOU 2!!!
I've had this bottle for a while not open because I wasn't sure if it was a special occasion bottle or not. I love Glen Dronach and had several 12s and 15s. Great stuff guys! Keep it up and nice editing btw
I have never really tried a Sherry Whisky or Port Whisky.... But after that episode.. wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy interested now.... lol. thanks for making me learn and laugh!
Buy the 18 and 21 before the old stocks are dried up ;)... They're quite good. The modern 12,15 etc... Are just alright.
maybe a little of each poured in a glass would have the super model being the girl next door? Lol Nice job guys ! Always entertaining and funny.
Glendronach 12 was my first single malt scotch. I am biased, but I absolutely love it.
I get a distinct walnut from 20-30year tawnys but yeah gosh this sounds amazing.
Daniel would LOVE their 15yo Tawny port expression.
I get my hopes sooo high that i'm already thinking of checking the local price and availability, until Daniel says, 'Wait a minute… where is the mid palate body?'

Wow, I must be learning stuff. Picked up a bottle of this a few weeks ago and thought the same thing, flavorful and just drops right out
Finally caught up on all the videos. Also, finally subscribed. Wasn’t sure if I wanted to make that commitment.
Which one is wealthy to buy?
01.Glenfiddich perpetual collction vat 01 - 66.5$
02.Glenmorangie 10 - 60$
03.Glenlivet Tripple cast Matured distillers resrves - 67$
04.The GlenDronach Forgue Aged 10 years - 69.5$
05.Benriach Quarter Cask - 61$
I first thought you were doing Peated Port Wood which is sooo tasty now I’ve got to try just regular port wood dronach because I always love a port cask finish scotch
Sounds amazing, I’m a sucker for anything that Glendronach puts out. Surprisingly, it’s in my top 3 though I prefer peated whiskies.
Thanks for reminding me to replenish my Glendronach 12 supply.
Hey, you read my comment. Seriously, I need friends hahaha.
It's OK... You guys are WAAAAAYYY to cool to change whatchya are doing!! Keep it up!!!
I would love to see you guys revisit some of the stuff you did at the beginning of the channel. I’d like to see what Rex says about balcones single malt at this stage in his whisky journey
I had just picked up a bottle last week. It's a fantastic scotch!
In my personal opinion I actually really like a musty, peaty nose and taste in my scotches. Also I love the absolutely hilarious editing of Dan.
This is very much a rare whiskey selection no? Either way it sounds super exciting. I love interesting finishes. That's what she said?
Was honestly disappointed by this. Maybe my expectations were too high, but on trying it (I was really looking forward to it) I just thought it was light on sherry and port. The Peated port wood is ahmaaayzing. The port wood is pretty good.
The peated version of the Port finish GlenDronach is exceptional.
Which blended malt would you MBs go for, JW Green or Monkey Shoulder, given that the JW costs 11 bucks more for a bottle?
Nice to see you guys! Great review! Hey, I was wondering if either of you two ever smelled this cologne called Pure Malt by Thierry Mugler! Not to stereotype but you guys would dig that scent! Keep it up...
So what would you blend with this to keep as much of the nose as possible, yet give it more of a mid palette?
Love that Gelndronach! :D

If GlenDronach 10 is the supermodel and GlenDronach 12 is the girl next door...whats is Ardbeg 10?
Slingblade...
Kinky
I'm sold, I will be looking for this one.
Managed to grab a bottle, great stuff. So moreish, & bottle emptied too quick.
Ah my favourite distillery! Although I could have sworn it was spelled Glendronach XD
I think this beats the 12-18. Those sweet flavors are unbelievable. Please do Dalmore Portwood to compare them.
Good idea. And maybe compare it to the Boynsmill and Laphroaig’s Brodir.
Love glendronach. Especially the 18 alderice
Did you guys review the Talisker Port Ruighe??
What is a good starter complex whiskey? (If that makes sense) I’m good with Elijah Craig, four roses and wild turkey 101. Really like the 101. What is a good next to buy bottle for a little kick/flavor that will challenge the pallet?
Maybe not extraordinary complex, but you could try Woodford Reserve Double Oak for something a little different. Or, because you like 101, you could try the Rye version.
Can you do the Gendronach 18 year Allardice??
Can you find out where it’s sold? I can’t find it anywhere.
the only change I've noticed in the channel is that Rex has gotten a bit better on his reviews
There's a peated version too. As a peat head it might be better!
Just saying, with so much port cask you have been drinking lately u should come to visit Porto and Gaia, 2 beautiful city's with amazing wine.
So what you're saying is we need this in a cask strength??????
Where i can get this whiskey?
Cmon guys, you even have Mcgregor in your little "magnificant bastard" montage. When will you do a video on his Proper 12 whiskey?
If you had to pick between Wild Turkey 101 (£26) or Buffalo Trace (£19) what would you go for? In terms of bourbon I've had JD Woodford and bullet. Want to try different bourbons, I'm leaning towards the wild turkey being higher proof I know it'll be a new experience but any thoughts?
WT101. BT is kind of flat, bland and boring (to me.)
101 all day
Also make Knob Creek one of your next choices
Ah the dram that you mainly want to nose rather than drink. Cheers! 🥃
- Patrick
I got this as goodbye gift when I changed job
Oh give me a home where the Whittingtons roam and where the mooch is sampling all day.
After a couple of drinks I'd probably spell it Gelndronach too
Nice!

GlenDronach The Forgue 10y?
should we fix the title from Gelndronach to Glendronach?
Nope
Pls do a review on Forgue
Thank you! 😁
Daniel is about to introduce another kind of wood to the Vault videos...
Gotta love a port finish
Agreed, love the Talisker, Dalmore and Glenmorangie Port finishes
fixed the spelling for you heathens
some say i care *too much*
Now question, when did you changed your RUclips handle ? :D
Damned ol gelndronach
I really want to make a Tinder profile that just has my whisk(e)y shelves pic, but I’m very worried about the type that would attract.
me. You would attract me...and my wife as a bonus...
Lagavullin back on the shelf, sorry Emma........
Can't wait to put this up against the La Quinta Ruban.
They need to do a reacting to insulting comments video for Dry Week.
that dronach 12 is definitely a 2013 bottling....;)
Since the Friar Tuck of solidarity was shaved off when quarantine guidelines were reinstated, does that mean Rex has cursed the people with his prematurity?
Whole table you say... Challan accepted.
You just give it some air I'm sure. With the mid palate there.
I think I finally found my 1st scotch.
lolllll you guys are awsome!
Typo for the win!
Drank an old glendronach port wood
Great whiskey
Give Dan a break on the misspelling - you try to spell after being kicked in the nuts!
Gelndronach, mhmmmmm

YOU need a whole table to help you with it.
i'll bring the Cubans
where are you located I MUST GO !!!! I'm in chitown
They in TX. Austin IIRC.
@@GrizzAxxemann
thanks appreciate it. I must go.
Morning Gentlemen.
Appropriate comment choice. Blind shot goes in super cool. Tries waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too hard to double the cool & well.
Where there enough a's or should there have been more?
Cosmic Bunghole
Nice video, back to scotch, fix the label

Give me the geeky, science nerd gamer girl next door any day of the week over any supermodel.
Rex is the master of pretending he is listening
Blend the two. Infiniti bottle style.
Damnit I hate living in utah, I cant get this one either 😭
