The Tomatin 14 port wood finish is a good one if Scotch is your go to. It costs £50-55 here in the UK and is easy to get hold of. The Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban is good but very sweet for my palate, great show guys.
Try Talisker Port Ruighe, Arran Port Cask Finish, Glenallachie 12yo Ruby Port and Glenmorangie 14yo Quinta ruban...all are great whiskies. Happy birthday Michael !!
Should have suggested the Woodinville Straight Bourbon Port Cask Finish. Bought it based on the review you did, I was never a fan of Bourbon. But Man this one is special ! And Happy Birthday Mate. Cheers.
Regarding the Glendronach Port Wood (which I sent in, and thanks for the call out again guys!), I've only ever been able to find it at Total Wine. It averages $85 to $95 a bottle locally, which for the taste is worth it to me. It can be hard to find in some markets unfortunately. That said, if you can find it, snag it. It won't steer you wrong, and I still maintain to this day that it could fill the missing void in their old formula for a poor man's Macallan M.
Happy Birthday to us Michael, you and me born in the same day I mean the same same day, for my 40th birthday I opened Dalmore 12, Longmorn 16 and Glenlivet 21. It's was one of the best birthdays I got. Cheers
@@michaelvanhorenbeeck5802 the green spot is such a lovely whiskey coming from a wine drinking, pair it with barbecue beef and you will love it even more. Haven't tried the other two whiskies but I'm sure they ar as good as the green spot.
Happy Birthday Michael Van Horenbeeck! Welcome to the 40's club! Enjoying a little Old Forester 100. The Glenmorangie 14 Port is REALLY decent as well, with almost a chocolate mouth feel to it. But the price sorta bumped up over the last few years to about $15 in my area. Slainte Mhath to you and all the Bastards!
Hello gentlemen from Adelaide, South Australia. I can get hold of the Dewar's and Glendronach but no chance of the Thomas S Moore's...Hard to do in Oz let alone Adelaide. Question.... Is there a Mooch guide handbook to purchase? Love you both and wish you good health. Mat.

@@justinseymour7881 I just made a comment about that, but yeah Rex almost directly pointed to it too lol, just as he was talking about not being able to find a bottle that was right at eye level

I may not have said it enough "i love you guys". The main reason i asked for port finished whisky is because i do not have any yet in my collection which i like to keep expanding.

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban is my pick for the best affordable port finish! 50 bucks, I don't know if there's a better value for a single malt, 14 year aged, port finish on the market. If anyone knows one, I want to try it.
9:17 Rex almost directly pointed at the Woodinville Port Finish (I think) on the shelf when he was talking about looking for a bottle and they bring out Angel's instead 😭
Glendronach port wood is relatively affordable. When they said nose bleed expensive i was imagining 200+. 100 is not bad. You can even buy it for 65 some places.
could have tossed the Glenn Scotia peated port 2020 festival release i sent into this comparison, would have been interesting to see how it stands up to the dronach
Gentlemen, If it’s not an inconvenience, my girlfriend and I watch you guys religiously and this past Saturday she said yes when I asked if she would marry me. I was hoping you could raise a Rye to my beautiful bride Gaia? Keep up the work best channel on RUclips Caleb
Here’s an honest question: If you want whiskey with some port flavor, could you just get a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of port, and pour some of each in your glass?
Your availability is weird AF. The only one of those releases I've even seen in the wild is the GlenDronach, though I'm sure if I went looking I could find a bottle of the Dewar's. The Thomas S. Moore I've never seen nor heard of.
So what happens to the birthday dudes money contribution? Seems weird that he just paid for a comparison review of stuff they already had. Is that a thing now? Instead of sending in bottles.
Happy Birthday Michael, CHEERS to you with a little Angels Envy!

Agree on Angel's Envy. Never felt the whiskey was worth the cost. On all levels.
I was wondering throughout the video: What about Angel's Envy? It's the most obvious choice for American whiskey.
I get Angel's Envy for $40. Feel like at that price point it's an awesome option.

Single malt and Blended scotch lends itself perfectly to port. Bourbon however, is too sweet and the port will overpower a basic flavor profile.
I find angels envy a bit overrated in the field of Port finished that is available now. Even issac bowman over angels
Virginia whiskey in general is severely underrated.
I can get the Port Wood Glendronich here in Iowa for about $100. I prefer the 12, though. I generally prefer other wine finishes than port.
Glenmo Quinta Ruban and Angel's Envy?
