I'm on the fence with it. On the one hand you definitely have people buying up the BT products the second they hit the shelves and amongst bourbon enthusiasts they aren't underrated at all, possibly even pushing into overrated territory in a few cases. On the flipside people who are new to whiskey or like it but aren't super into it haven't even heard of the distillery or their main products. When I was getting into bourbon I had never even heard of BT in my life then suddenly saw them everywhere once I was aware.
One very famous bourbon but EXTREMELY underrated here in the tribe is the Jim Beam white label. This is just a great, simple, straightforward bourbon. There is nothing to hate about it IMO.
I do keep a bottle of Evan Williams on the shelf quite often. Where I purchase it from (4 different locations) all come out to $11 and change, for a fifth. Absolutely love this bourbon!

I would add Old Forester Signature 100 to that list. It's the same mash bill as Woodford Reserve, but bottled at 100 proof. I think it's probably a little younger than WR- which would reflect in its price. In my area, I can pick up a 750mL bottle for $22, and a 1.75mL bottle for $40. I find this stuff to be absolutely delicious, and it knocks the socks off of many bourbons that are 2-3 times the price, imo.

I was pleasantly surprised to see 101 as the selected most underrated. Never have I been a self proclaimed whiskey drinker, but when I did dabble a bit in my early years it was my favorite. Good video 👍
Just got in to whisky. My previous experience with bourbon is pretty much Jim Beam and Jack Daniels. Now I have discovered Bulleit and I love it. Trying Elija Wood Next :) Only downside is imported spirts are expensive where I live, Bulleit is about $45 (still worth it) ad Elija Wood 70 - $75 :O
I've had Four Roses small batch, and except for the Evan Williams and the Old Granddad, I've had all these in my home and enjoyed every one of them. However, my mainstay now is Woodford Reserve, and I usually get the bourbon and the rye. They are both good IMO.
most of this stuff is very highly regarded . now "early times" is quite usable despite most people saying it is crap. and for 15 bucks a half gallon, it's hard to beat on price!
Thank again. Now that this video is almost a year old, Eagle Rare is almost impossible to get in my area. Four Roses is really hit and miss as well. Great list. My go is Makers 46. I know, not super expensive and quite plentiful, not much mystique, and I'm a bit surprised that it does not have a screw on top! But quite delicious.
i just bought glencairn glass, and oh my god it makes a huge difference, nosing wild turkey 101 in my normal glass always burns my nose, and i can't smell anything, but with my glencairn, there is no burn, and it smells rather sweet.
haha I was confused for a moment when they brought out the Buffalo Trace, where I'm at it's is almost always sold out in multiple stores whenever I want a bottle! What's weird, though, now that I'm thinking about it, is I work in a bar and it's rarely ever ordered...
Lists like this usually make it hard to find said bottles, but most of these are very common in my area thankfully. Knob Creek Single Barrel is one of the best bourbons for the price in my opinion. I wish I would’ve realized a couple of years ago how quickly some bottles of whiskey would be hard to find all of a sudden. Some like Booker’s and Blanton’s used to be everywhere and now they’re hard to find. Wish I would’ve stocked up.
Very Old Barton (100 proof) and Old Forrester (100 proof) are two that are HIGHLY underrated as well in my opinion. Especially for their price points. I truly enjoy even there lower proofs going sub 90.
I agree with Daniel's reasoning on how Woodford Reserve can be underrated to some people. I also think this applies to Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig, and Knob Creek. For me those 4 bourbons, (along with Bulleit, Maker's Mark, and Four Roses SmallB or SingleB) represent widely distributed bourbons that are/were for many a perceived step up in quality and price compared to cheaper bourbons a lot of us drank in college (e.g., Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Wild Turkey, and Evan Williams). They may be the first nice bottle or nice shot we bought when we were 22 years old, and now years removed from wild partying days we think of them as overpriced whiskey for the gullible masses. In reality they're all really good bourbons, just mass produced and available at almost every bar and store. But I agree, Woodford Reserve and Buffalo Trace aren't underrated.
This is a great list. I would have removed Woodford and replaced it with Old Forrester Signature 100. When Elijah Craig removed the age statement I went around collecting all the 12 year old I could find...so now I have a huge stash....probably 12 years worth. Evan Williams White and Wild Turkey 101 are easily the most underrated IMO. Both are wonderful and most people look at you funny when you recommend them.
Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace. It is now a little over a year and a half later, and because of the state I live in, it is ridiculously hard to find these two products. My how the turntables.

Love the channel! Great video! Born and raised in Lexington, KY and been to buffalo trace several times for the tours and tastings. Definitely like all they offer! You guys have a new sub!
If you haven't tried/heard for wilderness trail in Kentucky, I highly recommend it. They are very small and ramping up quickly. You basically have to go to their distillery to buy their bottles, but it's a lovely bourbon. Oh and Woodinville in WA....but I guess that's not "bourbon". 😆

Grabbed my first bottle of Evan Williams BIB yesterday, excited to try it out tonight. They sell it for 40 us dollars here in sweden...
Did you like it?
@@jzay1899 Yeah it was ok. I liked it better to mix it into an classic old fashioned. For sipping neat, Four Rouses small batch and woodford reserve tastes better imo of the ones I've tried so far
Good episode Guys! God I wish I lived in Austin!
I was pleasantly surprised to see 101 as the selected most underrated. Never have I been a self proclaimed whiskey drinker, but when I did dabble a bit in my early years it was my favorite. Good video 👍
The Spirit Monk[e]y believes Rex is becoming part Somm and part Mooch, he is become... Smooch.
Or... a Momm?
@@ThaigerDon That would explain why he hates dad jokes...
@@jameshollingshead1845 The Spirit Monk[e]y believes the best dad joke is the dad joke you like, the way you like to tell it.
Been up and down the Bourbon highway, but I always find my way back to Wild Turkey. They have an 80 proof that's great for day drinking.
Just got in to whisky. My previous experience with bourbon is pretty much Jim Beam and Jack Daniels. Now I have discovered Bulleit and I love it. Trying Elija Wood Next :)
Only downside is imported spirts are expensive where I live, Bulleit is about $45 (still worth it) ad Elija Wood 70 - $75 :O
I love this style of video. It makes me feel like I’m in the vault with you two sipping on some whiskey
Thanks guys, this was very informative I would add an Old Forrester ... I believe the whole line is underrated.
Living in Kentucky I would like to say that Eagle Rare and even Buffalo Trace is getting hard to find so definitely not under rated. Lol.
Exactly
Thank again. Now that this video is almost a year old, Eagle Rare is almost impossible to get in my area. Four Roses is really hit and miss as well. Great list. My go is Makers 46. I know, not super expensive and quite plentiful, not much mystique, and I'm a bit surprised that it does not have a screw on top! But quite delicious.
Bought a WT101 yesterday. Not crazy about the nose BUT the taste is really there. Great find at $20.
15:07 SHWOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
i just bought glencairn glass, and oh my god it makes a huge difference, nosing wild turkey 101 in my normal glass always burns my nose, and i can't smell anything, but with my glencairn, there is no burn, and it smells rather sweet.
Nothing like getting fucked up at work and giving your opinion. Gotta love all the comparisons. It’s all diff to anyone that drinks them.
Glad y'all threw in Larceny. I just bought a bottle recently and was very pleasantly surprised
haha I was confused for a moment when they brought out the Buffalo Trace, where I'm at it's is almost always sold out in multiple stores whenever I want a bottle!
Yes!! to Wild Turkey 101. A favorite at our home.
I’m very jealous. The 12yr is so delicious and I had no clue they were getting rid of it.
FYI Eagle Rare still has age statement on the back - 10 yrs
What got me into bourbon was Evan Williams Single Barrel
It is good stuff. I have a bottle sitting next to me that's almost gone. Thanks for reminding me to go get more.
Breakfast hell yeah baby
That is my Birthday!!! Dang !!!! I work that night. Have Drink in my Honor. Cheers MBs!!!!!!
Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace. It is now a little over a year and a half later, and because of the state I live in, it is ridiculously hard to find these two products. My how the turntables.
Great video! We definitely need more Top 10's. Even a re-do of the categories you’ve done before. I’d like the see how the tribe’s taste has changed since then!!
2 & 3 are not Underrated here in DFW area for sure and I wish they are. Now a days those are hard to find here. Thanks guys for the list.
I hope Eagle Rare stays “underrated”, it’s already tough to find.
It's definitely not underrated. It falls in the hype category.
Love the channel! Great video! Born and raised in Lexington, KY and been to buffalo trace several times for the tours and tastings. Definitely like all they offer! You guys have a new sub!
Woodford Reserve is one of my go to whiskeys as is 4 Roses.
I like how it's the same 10 bourbons as all the other bourbon videos
