What you're missing on the name is how specific to Detroit culture it is. This distillery is just a few blocks of M1, Woodward Ave, the first paved road in America. Every summer in August there is a weekend-long Dream Cruise where thousands of classic cars cruise the streets. Perhaps the name doesn't have wide appeal, but it's meant to honor this specific location and its Motor City culture. From a marketing standpoint its a great name for the region.
That's amazing. Thanks for sharing
I'm from se mich and I got it immediately that's why I clicked.
Detroit is known as Motor City due to all the automotive manufactures that used to be there before the collapse of the area, not the Dream Cruise, the Dream Cruise was created as homage to Detroit being the home of all the auto manufactures.
It's the "gas" part that doesn't do quality whiskey justice, not the motor city part. Motor City Surprisingly Good Spirits is a bit more of a mouthful though.
The name "Motor City Gas" is the main reason why I clicked on the episode notification so fast.
A great way to stand out on the whiskey aisle.
A 20-minute episode! Châd has truly blessed us today!
I live a 2 minute walk from Motor city gas. The place makes some great drops! You need to try the Bumper Bender Bourbon (heirloom purple corn bourbon). It’s award winning!
can you help match the whiskey names to the descriptions they're using?
I live about 15 miles from Royal Oak and had no idea that Motorcity Gas existed. I'm excited to pay them a visit.
It's a great spot, definitely check it out when you can!
As a Royal Oak native, I’m very proud of them. Buying a bottle of the Rye tomorrow.
Good Morning Gentlemen.
Wow, the smiles on your faces while you're trying these sells me on this distillery hands down. This was a great episode!
Rex pulling out the extended cut for this one
I live fairly close to Royal Oak, now I'm going to have to go there and give these a try. Hopefully bring back some souvenirs!
Daniel's OOOOOOOH at 3:00 has me interested. I'm always wary of "Irish" or "Irish style" whiskeys I can't get in Ireland, but this one might be worth a hunt...
You guys should come to Michigan to do some tastings at some of the distilleries here!
Haven't seen this much excitement for a new whiskey in a while
Loved the intro. Congrats an becoming a Titan! Michigan has been making really great whiskey for a while. I have two of these unopened. Might have to pop the rye. Lastly, what is Marris Otter?
Maris Otter is a specific variety of two-row barley.
Maris Otter is a specific variety of barley. Massively common is beer brewing, and I am assuming whiskey as well.
You guys made my day. Royal Oak Michigan is only a half hour drive after clearing the border.
Oh so you’re from down south
Full intro finally 🔥
Well, you know they paid for it, they have to get their money's worth, lol...
Well, I'm going to have to see if I can find a bottle of the rye malt. Those tasting notes have me extremely interested...
Love the motor city gas guys! Good stuff
It was a longer video but you guys kept me engaged the entire time. Thanks!
I love the Arrogant Bastard reference that's one of my favorite beers
More humorously entertaining than usual, loved this episode. Gotta try to find some here in Brownsville.
That video makes me want to see classic Thor lose his hammer during some massive fight where it is flung into space, only for him to later, in his hour of greatest need, summon the hammer to return from afar, reentering the atmosphere in a blaze and slamming fully afire into his hand, entwining both lighting and inferno.
Badass.
YAY! Titan animation!
Great episode guys!
Rex: What's your favorite flavor in the world?
Daniel: Sh*t
I like that they don't have a flashy label. Helps with that whole "not all bland looking bottles are horrible" stigma
REX I sence a trip to Michigan in your future.
Motor City Gas has a youtube channel for the distillery as well. Just found it and have been watching a few.
GOOD AFTERNOON YOU MB'S... 🥃
sorry I am late...
been a while since we had a full titan... nice
Love the intro 😂 you guys rock !!!
I really enjoy your videos
Behold the New Titans :)
This one made me wonder, maybe you guys already covered this, but what IS both of your favorite whiskey notes you like to find that you would like turned way up. Or is there one out already that has your favorite notes that is turned way way up… I’m guessing the Peat in the Octomore series (my fav flavor is that Smokey smokey stuff)
Great job on the audio edits, Rex.
Rex: "What's your favorite flavor?" Daniel: "Shit..." 🤣
Sesame Street - learning to count to four!
Have you guys checked out that new video by Tasting History? Search for:
"Whisky - Scotland's Water of Life".
Interesting story, like how forcing the whisky industry to age their spirits in barrels for years was meant to force them out of business, and instead made a better product...
I found radish helps cleanse your pallet the best.
Honey, i'm gonna fill up on gas..... Brilliant! 😎
12:18: "This one smells yunk."
Hmmm… this local distillery is about ten minutes away from here. Note to Self: Make time for a friendly visit.
Like the label. Would love to give it a try in the future. Cheers.
From now on, you should use that "Aaaah" from 2:30 to replace every single cork pop when opening bottle.
Like double stuff Oreos. I've been know to double up on my double stuff Oreos.
I gotta find some of that now!
Nice.
Unbelievable these aren't available to order through our OWN liquor commission here in Michigan. I'll have to visit the distillery so I can try them out.
Man we need to break that down and open this state up.
Deer camp? Northern latitudes?
Daniel is low key messing with us at this point cause he definitely said "yunk" instead of young
I don't think this is for me but thanks for the video 🥃
Damn... pulling an ABA reference.
If you got to Motor City gas to buy a bottle you will be overwhelmed by the smell of whiskey coming from the back room, I exteded my time browsing the choices so I could drink in the whiskey heavy fog.
Motor city whiskey collection can l get that whiskey in Saskatchewan Canada liquor stores?? I want try some whiskey!
If Rex enjoys the Nuttiness from the Motor Gas City ‘Chocolate Roasted Malt’ offering.. He’ll LOVE ‘Rabbit Hole - Raceking Founder’s Collection 5-Grain’ and ‘Glenmorangie Signet’. Both are the Best Hidden Gem-After Dinner Dessert Drams!
If one drop of water changes the taste a lot, does the same kind of change happens when they proof down a batch vs cask strength?
Woah a 20 minute episode
free range in the whiskey vault if you can't choose a whiskey go to the scotch section close your eyes and just pick one
Had me at RYE!!!
Can you guys do the new KNOBEL WHISKEY BY DIRTY JOBS GUY
You guys need to ask Mitch for another bottle. I miss the "Thanks, Mitch" clip.
We love Mitch as well :-)
Night we were going to do the video the power went out in a storm
Did... Daniel say "Snickernoodle"???
Dan picked the WEONG word after being asked “whats your favorite flavor in the world?”
13:23 will never not be funny.
That’s the nuttiness. THE NUTTINESS
Would be great to be put on a shirt or sticker.
Anybody know the name on the side chocolate roasted malt bottle?
"The Shifter: 2nd" - Shifter being a series of single malt MCG releases... This one being "Gear 2," and 3 was "Applewood Smoked Single Malt, so on and so forth for each respective malt/gear...
Rex month?
4 very nices / 5
0:05 ...Hawt
Someone send them Iron Fish Two Peninsulas Whiskey
Pretty sure Daniel just said he makes garlic bread with garlic powder. Also pretty sure this should be the next new question on “Are You Garbage”…
❤️❤️🥃❤️🥃✌️
When your girl gives you that sloppy toppy 13:32
2👍
Bring back the whap sound when Daniel hits the top of the bottle or we riot
Are they using water from Flint? Makes it extra tasty...
The line between promoting and reviewing has been drawn , ladies and gents
Sup, y'all - Eric and I used to rock this bitch day & night for the owners ('Sup Rich!!), most likely did 99% of the manual-labor to produce these bottles they're reviewing... If you came back in the day, we prolly treated you like family... Not like Olive Garden, more like the Osbourne's - We called you out on your bullshit, told you lies, made jokes at your expense, and listened to lotsa ska/pop-punk... We had folks from Reel Big Fish, Circa Survive, I Prevail & Mighty Mighty Bosstones come drink with us... And we prolly liked your dog WAYYY more than you... ALSO - I prolly gave you a hug, just 'cause you're all so beautiful... If we ever offended you - Toughen up, nerd... Now let's address whatever the fuck these guys are talking about...
1) "Barley Legal" Irish: Without saying every detail - He's right... 3X, ex-bourbon, raw & malted grains - The malted barley sourced from Ireland...
2) "T-Boned" Rye Malt: Blend of malted and raw rye from Motor City Malt ('Sup Tom & Dan!!) Got alotta local grains from those cats...
3) "The Shifter" Marris Otter: A series of single malts and each malt had it's own respective "Gear" - I forget what this one was, let's call it "6th Gear" for funsies... Easy drinkin' single malt...
4) "The Shifter" Chocolate | Chocolate was "Gear 2," I believe: This one was the BEST to mill in!! Cocoa in the air, your hair, your clothes - Fuggin' heaven... "Hot" cocoa for the adults...
Lotsa label talk... I DO NOT miss writing those labels (Front & Back) by hand... But - Logo shoutouts to Jim Ward, dude was close to the owners, but he passed prior to MCG going legal...
Alright - Hugs...

Garlic or Salt, never garlic salt!!! You'll never get enough garlic until you make it too salty. Garlic Salt should be outlawed.
Wtf
Gonna pass on the gas, I don't personally believe they liked this one, been watching these guys for a long time and you know when they really love a whisk(e)y.
So in your opinion did they sell out or just decided to start lying to us?
