Great job! I'm not sure how you had spark with a bad Crank sensor?

I should clarify, it was a 2 wire coil, power and signal, i probed the signal wires to the coil and had a reaction for a slight second (the car would at times try to start but stall again) my thinking is that this is happening because the ckp was still providing some sort of signal but would only go up to about 2V, so when i was checking for signal at the coil i still had a signal for a few seconds then would dissapear, leading me to checking resistance of ckp and thats when i found the ckp coil resistance out of spec. (Also to note, when i pulled the ckp and checked resistance again it was within spec, so likely a intermittent sensor failure)

Hello I had the crank position sensor code and cam but also have p0079 code replace everything except p0079 code would you think is that of issue with pcm module

It may or may not be, take it to a shop near you for proper diagnosis

great video thank you. though i will say an oscilloscope in this case was not 100% necessary as dvom in ac mode would have shown a weak signal but for sure the record auto capture function is really nice in this case. looking forward to more!

Thank you for watching! In hindsight a DVOM may have worked, but i was able to gather more info in a shorter time from cam crank with the scope, considering there was no faults in the system i was suspecting mechanical timing, but with the scope on the crank i was able to see the crank signal was weak.

I just changed the radiator in mine and it will turn over but won’t start. I have been releasing air for 2 days!

Any codes? Were there any issues prior to radiator change?

Hi, I’m going to share my situation with my car my car. I was driving on the freeway for about 15 minutes and it lost water, it overheated so it lost power, lack of acceleration until it completely stopped. I refilled the radiator and the car didn’t start anymore. It cranks, it makes a noise like it’s drowning/flooded whatever you call it in English. It has the engine light on, I scanned it and got the code P0340 which I found was related to the camshaft position sensor. I replaced that one but it’s still doing the same thing just cranking but not starting. I try to accelerate while turning it on but it seems like the pedal doesn’t work. Could it be related to the crankshaft like your case??
    Thanks in advance.

Hey Ricardo, okay here is where i would start.
Did the car overheat for a long time as you were driving? Does the car have a normal crank or is it abnormal?
Without testing the crankshaft sensor it is hard to tell if that is the cause for your vehicle.
Just make sure the car mechanically is okay first, find out if you have spark and fuel.
That will lead you in the right direction.

@@brakeboss Hi 👋 thanks for your reply. The temperature gauge never passed half the line going towards the hot marker you know. And I think it overheated approximately half a mile or 5 minutes. I checked where the coils go, the spark plugs there are dry no oil no water which I think is a good sign. The oil looks dirty and low so I’m planning to change it today beyond was reading low oil level could also cause the sensor to send wrong signal.

    • @brakeboss
      @brakeboss  10 месяцев назад

You need to test for spark, if there is no spark it may be related to crankshaft position sensor

@@brakeboss okay I did the oil change today, I inverted the sensors, both camshafts, erased codes, tried to fire it and still doesn’t start. I scanned it again and I got codes p0340,
      0335 crankshaft,
      C342D manufacturer control,
      P0055 Heater resistance bank 1 sensor 3.
      And C3064 manufacturer control again.
And when I tried to start it I got a big smell of gasoline. I don’t where it’s coming from.

@@brakeboss another thing I forgot to mention is that my car’s catalytic converter was stolen but it still started and drivable so I don’t know if that is also a problem and if that’s the reason I get the code 0055 for the H02 sensor.

Hi please help its the same car. It cranks but no start and no spark on the plugs. When you crank it flashes the key signal on my cluster. What could be the problem here?

Possibly antitheft active, would need to get it diagnosed properly somewhere near you.
