I made this today. Did not have Red Wine Vinegar - had to use Apple Cider Vinegar. I was afraid that I had ruined it. But to my surprise, it was delicious. You may have to tweak the Lemon juice for tartness, or the salt level to your preference. This is a winner!
Kefir Heals when you say "tweak lemon juice for tartness", is that because you found the sauce to be too tart with the amount of lemon juice the recipe called for? I'm just asking because I'm wondering if I should start with a lesser amount of lemon juice and just add more if necessary (to suit my taste).
I made this today. It has made me so happy. It reminds me of the ranch they have at the salad bars In restaurant. My niece stated it tasted like a dill pickle potato chip. Which either way is a win, win situation for me. Thank your wonderful friend for this recipe.
I made this and it is so good! It definitely has that ranchy buttermilk tang. It had a pretty strong dill flavor - that dill seed is intense! (I found dill seed at Walmart btw). Next time I will halve the dill seed. There will definitely be a next time though because overall it''s a great dressing.
I noticed that Nan Simonsen’s recipe does not call for Dill WEED but AJ’s does. I wonder if the combination of the dill seed and dill weed is a bit too much?
Made this today. It really is the best vegan ranch dressing. It actually tests like ranch dressing! I am going to have to get some seasoning jars and put all the seasonings in like Chef AJ does. This recipe is a keeper!
My favorite tofu scramble has always been the one from the cookbook Vegan With A Vengeance, (she changed it slightly in later books, but I like the original). I love the mix of spices in that one and finally premixed a batch. It makes it so much easier and faster.
Followed the recipe. Added a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to bump up the tang. I will definitely make it again! (with half the dates). Thank you for sharing!
I just wanted to offer a tip to use, Chef. The next time you make your batch of premeasured ranch, take an extra second to jot down the measurements and tape them to the bottle. Just like at the pharmacy, except pharmacy for health❤
thank you so much for this fantastic recipe. finding a good, lowfat vegan dressing is the bane of my existence. i like being able to use more than two tablespoons of dressing without having to worry about it. i made my second batch this week. THANK YOU!
I have been searching for a salad dressing to help me eat more greens. I've tried different recipes and no winner. So I was skeptical but I went for it. I couldn't find the dill seeds and used a sweet potato, because didn't have white one and omitted the dates. Must say it is yummy. 😋
Just made this recipe ( as printed). A very good dressing. However, I think it’s too sweet to call it Ranch. I think it would be wonderful in pasta/ potato salad or any recipe that calls for Mayo. It makes a lot! Thanks for sharing this recipe.😃
Dill weed is the dried "leaves" (very feathery looking) of the plant. Dill seed is the actual seeds produced by the flower clusters. Here in the midwest, both are easy to find in most grocery stores.
It was so satisfying watching how perfect all that ranch filled up those 2 big jars. Looks so yummy 😋 your vegan neighbors are so blessed 😆 you're awesome!
I made this recipe last week, and it is fantastic! At first, I thought it was a bust, but it gets better day by day. I only had ACV on hand and it works great.

Hi; I'm new to you and just ordered your books so very excited to start this journey. I know from your introduction video, & you repeated here, that you do not eat nuts. But I'm curious about the yogurt you used and also the almond milk. Can you give a quick explanation? Thank you!
Excellent. Like so many below have stated. . . it's not (in my humble opinion) that close to Ranch. . . HOWEVER, it is very very good! Creamy" has never gone over well with my BFF, so this will be most enjoyed by her . . . which is quite a positive as I love it and can't wait to share it with her tomorrow.
I just made this ranch dressing, it's wonderful! Didn't have yogurt so used tofu. The addition of tahini just takes it to the next level. Thank you for this video.
Can't wait to try this new Ranch Dressing recipe. I've tried the Ranch made with nuts, and I've tried the Ranch made with Soy (I'm not a fan of Soy), always on the search for a Ranch that hits it out of the park. So, I'm going to check tomorrow to see if I have all the ingredients and I'm going to try this out. Thanks for sharing it.
Woooooo hooooooo finally got dill seeds! Made this tonight for dinner! What a game changer... reminded me of blue cheese dressing that I've not eaten for 30 years... Should be called THE best dressing...
I made this today, I couldn’t find the show notes so just made up the quantities, didn’t have dill seeds, used fresh parsley and fresh garlic instead of dried because I didn’t have those either and used coconut yogurt. It was absolutely delicious! So I am going to try it again with the correct ingredient and I imagine it will be even better! But where can I find the qu’Antibes if I can’t see them in the show notes?
Hi Joanne 🙂 Here is the recipe copied from Chef AJ - The BEST Vegan Ranch Dressing 2 cups of unsweetened PLAIN non-dair milk (Nan uses sov milk (I'm allergic) 1 - cup COOKED Yukon Gold potato (about 9 ounces) 1/2 cup of unsweetened PLAIN non -dairy yogurt (I used one carton of Forager's cashew) 4 Tablespoons dried parsley 2 teaspoons Dill SEED (essential, different than dill weed) 2 teaspoons Dill WEED 2 teaspoons Sumac (or Benson's Table Tasty, Nan uses salt) t teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder 4 Tablespoons lemon juice 4 Tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar 4 Tablespoons Tahini 2 Tablespoons mustard (I used Westbrae salt-free) 2 Medjool Dates, pitted Note: Nan adds black pepper to taste (I am allergic) She also just started adding a Tablespoon of Nutritional Yeast. When I made homemade ranch, I used non dairy mayo, but I'm trying to cut back on that and oil. This recipe seems to really have a lot of ingredients. Anyway to combine this with other ranch recipes, which will still taste good, maybe with nuts or silken tofu?
Oh, I am SO anxious to try this!!! I am deathly allergic to all Tree Nuts and Peanuts, so it is super hard with so many vegan items, nuts are used SO frequently! I will definitely be trying this! I will be able to use the soy milk and other non-dairy yogurts! Thank you SO much!!!
Oh, I am so excited I've found your channel!! I'm newly vegan, oil free and I don't use vinegar, soy nor nutritional yeast. I fully expected you to use vinegar and or nutritional yeast in this recipe. I also avoid salt and you gave a great replacement option! I'm so excited to try this. I would not use prepared mustard as it has vinegar in it. I'm going to just try dry mustard powder. Do you think that will work?🤞🏻
When I get all the ingredients, I am definitely going to try this recipe. I'm so tired of reading those ingredients that are in salad dressings these days.
i felt the same way,so i came up with a fast ranch dressing from hemp seeds which takes 10 mins and no fuss,I like that I can make it with all good ingredients. so good and I'm not even plant based.enjoy
Subbed white wine vinegar instead cause thats what i had, and also used the sumac in lieu of salt, and the final product is just Wow!!! So Yum!!! 👍 This is going into the rotation for sure!
Very good. Really enjoyed the texture. Too much dill for my taste for a ranch dressing with the red wine vinegar and amount of dill it would work as a tartar sauce. Will definitely make again.
Can't make my favorite ratatoulllie recipe without dill seed! Always have it on hand and yes, it is very different from dill weed. If you can't find it at the grocery store Indian markets often have it.
This looks absolutely delicious chef AJ...and definitely going to try it. Also very interesting about the salt replacement as I am eager to give up this addiction this year! Thank you 😊
