    Update: 5/15/2022:
I am now using Benson's Table Tasty in place of the Sumac. I still sprinkle the sumac on my salads for extra flavor but in the actual dressing I now use Benson's.
The dressing really thickens as you chill it and I find I prefer it a little thinner so I have increased the unsweetened non dairy milk to 3 cups.
Thank you Nan Simonsen for this amazing recipe!!!

Turns out it is based on another amazing recipe from Dreena Burton available here: • How to Make Ranch Dres...

This dressing will make you LOVE your salads! It's also great on steamed veggies, like broccoli, as a dip with crudite and even over potatoes and sweet potatoes!
    The BEST Vegan Ranch Dressing
2 cups of unsweetened PLAIN non-dairy milk (Nan uses soy milk (I'm allergic)
1 - cup COOKED Yukon Gold potato (about 9 ounces)
1/2 cup of unsweetened PLAIN non-dairy yogurt (I used one carton of Forager's cashew)
    4 Tablespoons dried parsley
2 teaspoons Dill SEED (essential, different than dill weed)
    2 teaspoons Dill WEED
2 teaspoons Sumac (or Benson's Table Tasty, Nan uses salt)
    t teaspoon garlic powder
    1 teaspoon onion powder
    4 Tablespoons lemon juice
    4 Tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar
    4 Tablespoons Tahini
    2 Tablespoons mustard (I used Westbrae salt-free)
    2 Medjool Dates, pitted
Note: Nan adds black pepper to taste (I am allergic)
She also just started adding a Tablespoon of Nutritional Yeast.
I tried it once and it didn't seem to make a difference so I do not do that.
Place all ingredients in a high powered blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass container and refrigerate. Keeps fresh about 5-7 days.

    Tastes just like ranch. THANKS!

Thank you! I can’t wait to try this! I am trying to go vegan but there’s such a learning curve -which I knew it would be. I have a bunch of popular vegan cookbooks but there are SO much nuts and hard to find ingredients. I absolutely LOVE nuts but have developed a nut allergy and vegan recipes are full of nuts. Nuts are very expensive too. I’m glad it’s possible to adapt a vegan diet without nuts! I even have sumac but haven’t tried by iit yet-purchased to make a middle Eastern recipe. I purchased it on Amazon.

Kefir Heals when you say "tweak lemon juice for tartness", is that because you found the sauce to be too tart with the amount of lemon juice the recipe called for? I'm just asking because I'm wondering if I should start with a lesser amount of lemon juice and just add more if necessary (to suit my taste).

Next time I will halve the dill seed. There will definitely be a next time though because overall it''s a great dressing.

Thanks Chef AJ... Can't wait to try it :) Do you think I can use half the amount of the Lemon and vinegar ? My bladder does not like those very much...any other suggestions. Thanks

It’s been my experience that when people stress that their recipe is The Best, or The Best is in the title, oddly enough, it really usually it!!😂

Just made this recipe ( as printed). A very good dressing. However, I think it’s too sweet to call it Ranch. I think it would be wonderful in pasta/ potato salad or any recipe that calls for Mayo. It makes a lot! Thanks for sharing this recipe.😃

You probably could just remove the dates next time to suit your tastebuds.
