I tried buying a well equipped SR5 in Erie, Pa. several weeks ago ..... they lo-balled me on my trade-in and wouldn't even deal on the truck .... let me walk out of the dealership with no counter offers or anything !!! ...... crazy !!!
I paid $27,500 in 2008 for a brand new TRD Sport long bed, LOL. It had a 4 liter V6. Thanks to enviro psychos, car makers are now forced to use 💩 for engines in new trucks.
Plastic skid plates? Seriously when people say these new Tacos have excessive use of plastics both outside and in they ain't exaggerating. Even my loaded 2019 P4X has stamped aluminum skid plates, an external transmission intercooler, and frame mounted bump stops. The taco doesn't. They cut corners every where on this new gen. And I only paid 35K out the door for that truck. Yota has done lost its mind.
Why are there so many haters on new tacoma , other than the price the truck is way better than 3rd gen in every way, power, looks and interior. Cause I have owned all other generations.
@reginaldmclean8013 i respect your opinion, but i have not read or seen anyone having problems with new tacoma engine, other than a few reported tranmission issues and that like less than 1% of actual units sold.
Because they went with internal bump stops using cast aluminum top hats (which are blowing up) and a weaker internal trans intercooler instead of using an external one up with the radiator. This is why some are seeing rear differentials overheating with some experiencing transmission failures. Toyota even has a new TSB with many codes. If your truck has those codes the only fix is complete transmission replacement but they won't say why. Way too much use of plastics on this gen and as this video shows they use plastic skid plates. I mean you can't make this stuff up. Nice they went to a box frame but why are parts of the frame thinned out? I mean does Yota really want another rust 2.0. Are they crazy? Reason for the hate is the price points are much higher now but many corners were cut on the underpinnings. Its not the overbuilt truck like the past GX 460, 4 Runner, or best of all the beloved model 200 which could outlast human life. My fav is the Prado with the D4D 3.0 diesel. The mexican made taco is nothing in comparison. Its very much under built compared to the older ones. And its because the Toyota Family does not control QC anymore. Just another CEO like Carlos Tavares of Jeep/Ram cutting corners and using cheaper suppliers. Its all about the bottom line with this new taco. If your not that big an off roader and spend most the time on tar sealed roads its probably fine. But at this price point its a hard pass with many buyers. Even fanbois that love the brand.
@@Tc.828-rpr Like I mentioned below the problem is the thinned out frame, internal bump stops, and no proper inter cooler for the transmission and other areas they cut costs like using weak plastic skid plates. I guess the new CEO figures he can cut costs on items you can't see. But they are very important as many are finding out the hard way with failed 8 speed transmissions. Believe me you don't want to own this generation out of warranty. And there is no way any 4 cylinder turbo will outlast the older normally aspirated motor. Your lucky to get 150K out of that motor. Turbos are massively expensive to replace. Same NA engine can last 300K and its much cheaper to work on. If you mall crawl it the trans will probably be ok. But I would not suggest doing ANY heavy towing or off roading if you don't want your shocks driving into the wheel wells or the rear diff overheating. Also I would not add 35 inch tires and lifts etc.. because it will only exacerbate the shortcomings of the under built underpinnings. Unless of course you go with stronger steel top hats and install an external trans intercooler. But why should one have to resort to that at these price points. Don't believe me? Look up front by the radiator. Nope there is no intercooler there. Also look for the frame mounted bump stops. Nope, it does not have that.

Tacoma has really fallen off
Turbo 4, nope..
Don’t buy one wait 3 to 5 years to see what happens to these trucks by then you’ll know whether to buy one or not
No V6 and to much good bye toyota 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Check out the Nissan Frontier with its V6 engine, at least compare and contrast if you need towing power.
Overpriced for junk trucks!

Four cylinder engine is only option nobody wants a small engine that has problems in the first day
