You two are a scream. I needed to laugh today. Thank you. I was looking for this recipe. I have a feeling it will not be this much fun when I make it in my kitchen. Lol.
I just had to come back and say that I doubled this recipe and made it ahead of time for my wedding. I used the method you recommend in the recipe comments of making the sauce then rewarming and adding the cheese and crab (also added some lobster to be fancy as well as some Worcestershire and old bay) I did bring some heavy cream to thin it back out a little when I reheated the sauce which I found to work really well. Let’s just say my new husband went to get seconds at our wedding and came back with a full plate of just this au gratin… no dippers 😂 thank you again so much for sharing this great recipe!
Hi Bob! Creamy, cheesy dishes can be a little problematic to freeze. Sometimes the creaminess breaks down. But, usually, there's not really an issue. You should be able to freeze this, let is thaw, and then bake with no problem. Let us know if you try it and how it turns out!
