Now I dont want to bum you out if you go and watch it he dies in ep 1 of old age but every single episode has his flashback in it and also hes just this legend... I mean he doesnt die a bad death and he will probably be seen in the anime sooner or later again so give it a watch
In the last decade we had some many anti-heroes, morally gray characters, dark-and-edgy or brooding Noir types, that finally seeing a guy who is just... good, with no caveats, a simple man who wants to help everyone... it's like remembering that you're allowed to be happy.
Anti-heroes and morally grey characters are good, but I think most people nowadays believe they are better heroes. They make interesting characters or maybe even relatable ones with their flaws and ideologies, but I think we should not forget the old-school hero-type like Himmel who is just pure greatness. They are perfect heroes. They may not be very realistic or relatable for most, but they should be the ideal for hero for anyone to admire. They should be the ones setting the standard for being heroes. Not anti-heroes or morally grey characters.
It’s wild how Himmel, a character who isn’t an active character in a story where he’s already dead, has quickly become one of my favorite anime characters ever, purely through the impact he’s left behind
I love how when I started reading years ago I was like "oh he's cool, but just a normal op hero" nowadays I completely love him and think he's the best character of the whole series and Abe keep on improving him and showing how he's absolutely not a normal op hero , he's not even the "real hero" if there's in fact one , he may not have the sword , but he had everything else alongside him, he's just that good
"Are you a hero because some holy sword chose you or are you a hero because you could do anything, holy sword or not" is the exact definition of Himmel
2:30 episode 22 broke me with that scene, because Himmel says EXACTLY what i feel and resonated so much with me, he says something like *"Living means someone knew you and remembers you"* and when Frieren ask him *"How do i make people remember me?"* And Himmel replies *"If you get to change someone's life, even if it's just a bit, i think that's enough"* Such a good anime and such good characters men...
Also watch the video called "Himmel was a real hero" a piece of nice work. Honestly just because he has this little screen time I think he's the best and the things he did during that screen time
The best thing about this show is that, Himmel is very strong, strong enough to defeat the demon king but the show never shows his strength or powers and instead focuses on how kind and compassionate he is, every scene of him is just him showing how nice he is and that to me, is his greatest strength. Kindness truly is a power in its own right
In himmel era, there is another hero who was said to be the strongest at the time. The south hero. He was attack by Demon king right hand who brought all of demon general, just to kill a single man. He died in battle, but he manage to kill the demon king right hand and 3 of his demon general.
A key point to note - the South Hero wasn't as well-remembered (if that's even a word) as Himmel. His legacy was built on the great feats that he accomplished, not the good that he could've done. @@kakyoinnoriaki6743
I’m surprised there aren’t more video essays on Himmel. He’s such an interesting character and plenty of more words that slip from my mind, but gosh… he seems so simple yet has so much depth.
I will copy a comment here that I saw under another video and I could not said it better myself: The hero’s comrades started their journey as a corrupt priest, a self-loathing warrior and an emotionally stunted elf. His world was full of disarray, death and fear. But he persevered, he transformed Heiter into a beacon of virtue, gave Eisen his pride back, and made Frieren want to understand humanity. He made his world better every step of the way, stopping to help even the lowliest peasant for the most menial of tasks. He spent 10 years in the greatest journey of his and his comrades lives. He loved Frieren but never burdened her with that love because he knew she couldn’t love him back at the time. He made sure that even after his death, the world and his friends would have memories of him in the form of statues so they wouldn’t lose hope. He was funny, kind brave and loyal to a fault. Despite not being the hero of the prophecy, he destroyed the Demon King and his legions. And once he did all this, he simply came back home and lived a simple life, helping wherever he could. He died surrounded by the people he cared about the most. Himmel was a true Hero who saved the world not just in the grand scheme of things but with every single person he met and helped. Long may he be remembered.
To be honest I saw a lot of people saying that Himmel doesn't tell them anything or straight up doesn't like him, like Tanjiro from Demon Slayer, so I started to think that people nowadays hate characters that are empathetic, happy and generally a good individual. It's like everyone like psychopaths and mentally deranged men/women, don't get me wrong psychopaths can be intriguing because of the plot or the situation they create within a given story, but I just don't get the hate for good people in fiction, expecially when said character is the reason other characters around him start to change, like Himmel did for Frieren, Heiter, Eisen and everyone he came in contact while alive, same story with Tanjiro and the people he influenced. Also I like Himmel and Frieren romantic dynamics even though Frieren started to understand that after him passing away, which is a bit sad.
You're on point with that one, I mean I do love me a Gojo or Sukuna but honestly something about Himmel feels way better than Tanjiro I don't know it feels warmer and sometimes Tanjiro can be too boring but I feel as if Himmel is just done right. Thanks for the amazing comment though
@@ShigiAnimeI think it might be with how they present themselves... Tanjiro is the guy that tries too hard, too built for the spotlights and loud about his goals. Himmel and Tanjiro are made from the same base but Himmel is assertive, gentle and more on the quiet side, he has a bit of an agenda with the things he wants to do and of course he talks about his main goals but also doesn't overshare... same but not at all I guess
@@ShigiAnime Tanjiro at his worst can a little bit patronizing and moralizing to anyone who has different beliefs as his, even if some of them have legitimate reasons to believe that way.
"Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" immerses viewers in a poignant tale of an immortal sorceress seeking meaning through mortal companionship. With breathtaking visuals and deep themes of time and connection, it captivates with its emotional depth, intricate storytelling, and unforgettable characters, earning its status as one of the world's best anime.
i think of himmel's perspective, i'm sure he wants others to push themselves and improve, but i'm also sure that he's accepting of how people want to live their lives - basically minds his own business. i understand the wanting of friends who are pushing themselves alongside you and being ambitious, but i think it'd be ungrateful as well to set aside those friends who aren't striving and are at peace with their current lifestyle. it's different if they're toxic or overall discouraging, at that point, G O O D B Y E. but if they're willing to support you to a decent extent and provide positivity, that's good enough. i personally just find it wrong to put emphasis and project your expectations onto those that don't have similar goals to you. just acknowledge that they're there, appreciate the small things you gain from interacting with them and carry on. you can learn a lot from multiple perspectives, i'm sure that's why himmel socialises with so many people, besides the goal of trying to help others in general. he has a sense of gratitude for everything life brings him it seems. it's more down to learning how to distance and priortise friends, rather than cutting people off completely if they don't exactly 'meet the blueprint'. from my perspective, i see value in friendship beyond just having that GRIND mindset, there's importance in getting along with others in general and relaxing when you can. balance and a variation of friends is a necessity is what i'm trying to say. have ambitious friends, have friends that aren't goal-orientated but still enjoy their life to the fullest, have friends that you can passionately discuss topics about. one person doesn't have to serve and check off everything off the checklist. it'd be convenient sure, but it's uneventful and boring to lack variety, because there's something to learn from everybody. it's also your choice on how much you let them personally affect you, alongside what is the optimal closeness to have with a certain individual. moreover to be as socialable and sweet as himmel is to know when to step back and reflect on how you view the world, others and yourself. how can i help others and in the long run, myself? how much attention am i paying to other people and is it getting in the way of my goals? what is the best mindset to take when interacting with the world and am i maintaining that view in the present? also disclaimer none of the commentary about friends applies if the person is again toxic, complains about their life and are complacent, or are a direct leech to your happiness. everyone is flawed and no one is perfect but if they're a person that isn't self-aware of these traits and doesn't to at least *try* to sort them out, get rid of them deadass
Himmel is such a great character and I see him as the other side of the coin for Edward Elric (from FMA 2003, not brotherhood). It's just that Edward dealt with some veeeery dark stuff in that story, and those things took a toll on his person.
I feel that ambition. That desire to be a positive memory in someone's life. It's what's drawing me to this character too. You keep striving, keep pushing yourself. Don't give up on being better, feeling seen, being greater. Keep going and shining and more people will see you and join you :)
Everytime Frieren got flashback about Himmel I always teared a bit. He just a very perfect example of gentleness and softness. EVEN TYPING THIS I AM CRYING! 😭
I thank you for making this video, I realized what I want to achieve with myself and once I achieve that I'll push through and achieve something greater, I thank you for this because without this video I wouldn't have thought about it so easily and I would've been struggling to think about what to do.
In the sea of dark hero, anti hero with al their supposed depth, edginess with their dark past and/or even dark fates, Himell rise above them all. Other heroes is famous/infamous of heroic feat or epic fight, Himmel while had his share, his legacy is that of kindness and all the small deeds that is important to everyday mortal. He inspire those who remember him to be a better person and be considerate instead of how other heroes inspire people to dosilly dares. He might not be the chosen prophesize hero of the goddess but he is the champion of being humane. The goddess's prophesized Hero sword can sit in a cave and collect dust when the world have a true hero's blade, replica though it is, serve and defend the people.
I once strive for greatness no one ever took me for granted that's why instead i took every people i knew mildly to the best help i can give them along the way i began to rust and get tired now i see myself in a mirror that keeps getting blurrier i saw a part of me i wanna become again now i again wanna be great or nice person to people i knew thanks for the great video have a nice day
Yeah its hard you burn out like a candle by doing that but the magic starts when you light it up again :) No person has it easy nor does a hero, but making things look like it was easy is the key. You will keep doing your best out there
Frieren goes back in time and meets her old team members again. We see how strong himmel as he could fight high ranking demons based on sheer sense even though his asleep when stuck in an illusion).
It is even to the point that Frieren at that point in time felt weaker than Himmel. Himmel is a total beast and Eisen is the strongest tank while Heiter is the goddess incarnate when it comes to support skills. Frieren was acting as the typical mage in their group. It is very telling that most demons especially Aura only came out of hiding AFTER Himmel died. Old Himmel is still killing demons like it's a normal routine for him. To be honest, before that arc, I always thought Frieren hard carried the whole team. Apparently, it was a literal teamwork between Frieren and everyone that made it work, and Himmel is literally the strongest in their grouo followed by Frieren.
I understand Himmel so much, I want to be a person someone meets during their life, and leave an impact. Where I make them really think about, whatever. A positive memory.
Himmel is truly the embodiment of what it means to be a hero in both frieren's world and IRl. Seriously I'm not a emotional guy but this dead character made me cry. Most stories are about some grandiose adventure or beating some world class threats NGL those are very enjoyable indeed. but it's stories like frieren that can truly affect people IRL. Be kind but not weak be strong but not cruel be proud but not arrogant 💙
Himmel perfectly embodies what it means to be a hero, is the best interpretation of a "paragon" hero I have ever seen. He doesn't do things for purely selfish reasons, he does things because he genuinely wants to make life easier for others, even the smallest and most minute of things that doesn't bring him any apparent benefits, even if it risks his life, even if it delays or potentially ends his journey to kill the Demon King and bring peace to the world. Would killing the Demon King be enough to bring about this "peace" and satisfy a regular hero? Sure, but Himmel knew that just by killing the Demon King wasn't enough to help people out of situations they're in now or later, regardless if the death of the Demon King and his quest would have any positive or negative impact on them. He knew to truly change the world for the better, you have to start small and not skip the seemingly mundane...the foundation of the world itself needed help. And you don't need a prophecy or a mystical sword to accomplish that.
This was uncle Iroh for me, he has been my greatest inspiration and helped me decide to become a psychologist. Since I was little I love to help people not lead so much. I've listened to a handful of people struggle and help talk them out of suicide. Once I had to call the police because one of them claimed to have taken some pills thankfully they were only lying and were fine. After they finally seek some help I slowly cut myself off from them for my own mental health. All of them are in college now. They're all doing better. I'm happy to see them doing better even if we don't speak anymore. Uncle Iroh taught me at a young age to just believe in people and listen. Everyone always says I'm naive, but I prefer to believe I'm hopeful.
Same bro fucking same my Uncle Tiho was like that as well but I’m not a pshychologist im just a youtuber but i totally understand. If you can help someone why dont you do it yk, its free and means a lot to someone
@@ShigiAnime I've been thinking about. I do have a few video ideas I could make. I've also been thinking about whether I should get into streaming. I am currently trying to learn how to draw and that can easily be streamed.
Himmel is one of my inspirations in life, I tell y’all a few, Tenma from Monster, Old Kratos, High Honor Arthur, Iroh, Zuko, Aragorn some are from video game or anime or a movie
I can understand wanting to have friends who walk the same ambitious path you do but I don't think it makes sense to get rid of the friends you have now because they're settling down. Frieren initially refused to go and fight the demon king until she finally gave in to Himmel's insistence. If he'd just given up on her, he never would've been able to achieve his goals. On top of this, I don't think Himmel would've cut ties with Frieren even IF she'd decided halfway through that she didn't want to fight the demon king anymore. Himmel is so inspiring precisely because he uplifts the people around him both directly and indirectly. How can you uplift the people you care about if you end up drifting away from them for wanting to live a normal life?
Because time is a currency that can't be sold, whenever someone seeks help i deliver it. I'm just reffering to spending a lot less time with them. I don't mind them if i see them but i wont go out my way to hang out w them! much love brother
Wonder character analysis of Himmel! I love him as a character- he fulfills the archetype of a typical 'hero'. He is a positive, driving force. He tries to empower others and he leads just by the strength of his character. But what is atypical of him would be how he's soft spoken. He's not a typical warrior where he blazes in with brandishing his sword and solving problems with force. He takes a piece of his kindness and imparts them with sincerity and grace.
Himmel, to ALL the people that he saved. Is just a lifechanging memory they have. I don't want to settle down. I want to be better, greater. every single day. And I need people to grow with me. the first quote makes me think of Superman, and the second quote makes me think of Goku. But I agree with both as mission statements to aspire towards. Frieren has a lot of great quotes as well
@@ShigiAnime Thanks for making this video, it gave me some insight on Himmel's character and how I can apply it. I really liked it. Not exactly a big Superman fan myself, so no worries there.
Himmel is by far the most pure hero in anime history hes not self righteous he is not special he is not chosen by a sword of any kind doesn't have power yet he is sttong willed and selfless enough to defeat the demon king its no wonder he is more popular then the mc and its no wonder that even after many years after his death that people still remember him😊
I love the fact to a lot of people, Himmel's a hero not because he was OP, but because he was decent. He's the kind of guy who helps old ladies cross the street and help to pick up groceries dropped on the ground.
ever since the meme of or headline of the guy stopping a stabbing reason his actions "thats what himmel the hero wouldve done" i've repeated it in my head whenever i have a choice in things, mostly moral. Especially with my newfound appreciation of superman, the good superman, and theres a starman meme. I dont plan to be as sociable or be as heroic as any of my favorite heroes, but I want to be like them when faced against adversity.
IMO, it's quite interesting that on paper, his motivation is very selfish and vain, for chasing personal glory and fame. but his actions (from Frieren's and people's perspective) are very noble. He helped people, didn't judge or push people. He showed kindness and understanding. He's achieving his personal glory by doing the right things. The balance of self love and being kind to others.
I think that is what made him a perfect hero, he is there for others but never leave himself behind. “I saved you, you'll remember me. You asked me for a help, then I'll have fun through it” when the people he helped knew that it is good for him too, then they wouldn't feel bad for relying on him, leaving them NOT indebted to him. Helping people while using yourself as an excuse, “because it's good for me too”, sure you might call it selfish but how I see it shows them how decent, and sincere they are as a person. Why sincere? If you're harsh on yourself but soft to others, you'd lie to yourself. If people you helped knew about it, you'd worry them and they would tell you how great you are. Just as Himmel appreciated himself, he appreciated others. As Himmel treated himself well, he treated others well too. As Himmel knew he'd say/do something that would leave good impact on others, he knew that it'd impact him as well. You should've known that you deserve rewards (in any form, I added this because being remembered already is a reward to him) for saving and helping people. But really, Himmel is naturally a kindhearted person who won't leave people in the need of help. He genuinely wanted to help and save people.
He got that replica hero sword from saving a merchant when he was a kid. Once again, he genuinely wanted to help people and he knew that he'd deserve rewards, fame is part of it. Making statues as to "Frieren won't be lonely" not only means that it would accompany Frieren throughout her journey, but also means that Frieren won't be the only one who remembers the Hero, because he put statues mostly in places where people could look at them. As in this context that Himmel considered when Frieren said "probably I'm the only one who remember my master's face" so Himmel did that.
You missed something on the meaning of his name Himmel, Freiren's new journey is to find 'heaven'... Of course the journey metaphor also applies to realising what we have all along not the goal. Just gives a more layered meaning to the manga.
I think what I love the most about Himmel… is how he reminds me of Superman. Yes, I know Himmel isn’t able to fly or isn’t an alien. But like Superman; Himmel’s greatest strength isn’t that he can beat up the Demon Lord- it’s his compassion and character. People will often say knights in shining armor and paragons of hope are old fashioned, boring and bland. I think otherwise. I think that characters who inspire kindness and hope are so interesting, because they clearly have the power to take over the world- and yet they choose to be good. I’m not a religious Frieren fan, but I grew to appreciate it the more I watched it. Himmel is one of those characters who I really grew to love.
2 cents of my thoughts. In the entire video you emphasized on how we should "try" to get friends like Himmel, bcz they are unique. My question is why should we not strive to be someone like Himmel?
Nothing wrong with settling down to live a quiet and peaceful live. Why do you even want to improve yourself through your friends, is that what friends are for? Or should i say friend with benefits?
I'm with ya on that one, caring about appearances to such an extent would make one as fickle as disney was in regards to the JD and AH mess. Friends don't really care about what you can provide for them as they are just happy that you're there, you should also just be happy that they are there too, if the friendship is built on material gain, then it's probably more akin to a professional relationship which may look more like a contract.
I don't mind but that's why I said you should chose your friends. The ladder happened to my uncle, he wanted bigger things in life but was stuck working a 9-5 his health was declining (this is no hustler story btw but) he was in the small city were I live atm basically his wife divorced him after sucking out money from him when he was sick and fled to Ireland. He stayed doing what he was doing for the past 8 years, after recovering for about a year he downloaded tinder but prior to that a day in his life would be "work when they tell me to, night shift etc" after work or before we'd grab coffee him, me and his best friend "our godfather" his weddings and my first Communions. But still he felt like he didn't belong, he tried settling down and after downloading tinder he met an israeli woman and they went on a date, crazy stuff but basically the more they were hanging out she gave him an offer to work with her and they will be digital nomads, which he replied with "sure" because he wanted something like that. Our godfather was settled down ,has no woman at the age of 40ish and he's still looped with work, lives with his family... And so 2 years pass by they grab coffee and you can see the jealousy in his eyes when my uncle told him he was in Greece, Sweeden, London etc... its almost like "they despise you for wanting more than just being in the village we live at" and basically they don't see each other daily nor weekly but the thing is they didn't want the same thing, even my uncle offered him a workplace and to go to Israel on a trip but he's unhappy and doesn't want to. So my uncle is trying to provide value and he's being stubborn because he settled down and doesn't want to try to do what he loves. I mean even if his lifestyle is delusional and hes happy im fine with it but he thinks he's too old now to do all that and if he wants to experience something he needs a significant other. But if my uncle was alone as well I'm sure they'd travel together but the situation is different because -he has a wife now(the Israeli woman) and he wouldn't feel comfortable to go with them. So to come back to a conclusion on my ted talk.... When I say value I don't mean business or money, value represents anything useful to you: comfort, emotional support, opportunities, information, wisdom, knowledge whatever it may be. So a friend is a person which you grow with because that's the only thing humans are capeable of, getting older and re-writing mistakes. So a friend that did a mistake in his past will bring me value if he tells me not to do the same mistake. Or just as simple as being with a friend when you're sad etc... But If I had to chose the same friend (same amount of empathy, connection all that good stuff) but also can provide more value and wants to improve I think it'll go a longer distance than just a friend.
It’s funny. I started writing a video yesterday with a very similar intro “Himmel, while probably more hero than most other protagonists or heroes , is not a destined hero. He was not the man destined to pull the sword from the stone . He made mistakes , upset kings . “ I think frieren was the one who took down the demon king in the end
I have a theory that the Hero's Sword wasn’t magical, it was never meant to be taken out, it was a test, to see if one was a true hero or not, if one would continue trying to slay the Demon King even knowing they weren’t able to lift the "Hero's Sword". I belive the Hero's Sword isn’t a physical weapon but is in fact the Soul. The only thing capable of killing a Heartless Monster is the opposite, a man with a heart of Gold.
No, we are born differently, each with different strengths and weakness. We should focus on cooperating as a team, as a party member, not everyone is the hero like Himmel.
@@edisonchin2463No one needs to be as great as Himmel is, just be the person you want to be and ignore the people that tries to pull you down to the same hole as them. You'll never actually accomplish anything if you're just another "team member" out of a thousand others, too scared to do anything except mindlessly following the norms without actually trying.
The 2020s being what they have been, the majority of relationships that I’ve seen broken recently have been over stances on vaccine choice, abortion choice, immigration permissiveness, DEI, or other similar things that fall under the category of “political religion”. I’ve seen families torn apart, lifelong friendships dissolved, marriages dissolved, and more. Just speculating about what happened to you and your Himmel, which is to say “I wouldn’t be at all surprised” if that’s what happened to you, and I find it universally sad that it’s happened to so many over the last 4 years - myself included.
I like that approach but its something I didn't wanna say in the video... His freedom let him to discover drugs and he was getting in a bad enviroment not changing people but getting changed and started paying ho"kers and we sat on a coffe and he told me he fought with his parents because they didn't give him 100$ because he passed high school and i asked what are you gonna spend it on and he showed me a bbl-ed milf with a ton of tattoos, i told him please start doing something and once you do we can talk again... Well that's kind of it but idk if they'll watch the video someday so i didn't wanna expose it in the vid
I agree with with most of the points in this vid but, correct me if I'm wrong, I feel like you misunderstand the purpose of friendship. It isn't a transaction of value. Friendship exists because it can and because we choose to create it. Any value gained from friendship is purely a bonus.
I thought about this in my car today, the same way but with imagining this: I would not like to be with an older woman who has a ton of money and a nice car (that's mid or ugly) But if I had a good looking (good in general) materialistic wise and mentally wise it would just be a bonus, so I agree with you on this one. But the video is older and my opinions change quite drastically so I'm just trying to keep my sanity atp, you're right Seleneium6+1!
Didn’t even watch the video but I want to say your title made me burst out laughing. People hype up anything these days. What the hell is wrong with this fanbase?
@@ExpertContrarian TLDR, netflix nowadays its all about women empowering, this empowering etc etc and himmel was just a breath of fresh air because I haven't seen a character like him in modern anime/films for a couple of years. You misremembered or misrepresented that conversation Frieren has with Himmel in EP 22 and I am unsure why. Frieren asks why he did something. Himmel responds that he is a Hero. She responds saying thats not what she meant. Himmel says he does it for himself for people to remember him because to be remembered is to live. And Frieren asks what she should do to be remembered, and he responds that she should change peoples lives, if even a little bit. Frieren never says what if you are not remembered. I have no idea where you are getting that from. Maybe a really poor unofficial translation? You used it to make an odd point that is not accurate to the character of Himmel, which is odd because that is the point of the video, and Himmel can be lifechanging without lying about what he said in the show and Manga.
I think you misunderstood Himmel as a character. He never saw his friendship as transactional in a way that they needed to contribute to his life in some way. If he did, he would have tossed the pervy priest and scared warrior. Heiter doesn't even contribute in some fights being too drunk or hungover. He was their friend because he liked them, and he stayed friends because he was loyal. It's as simple as that. It's true he just needed a party at the start, but he never needed to stay with them till the end. That shows loyalty. Your analysis fails to account for this. You have a warped idea of friendship. And from the way you talk about your friends in the past, you don't have any loyalty or commitment. There's nothing wrong with being ambitious, but to throw "friends" away simply because they decide to settle down is ridiculous - and is closer to a demon's transactional way of thinking. You admire the respect Himmel earned. But even Frieren, immortal as she is, was loyal to her friends who settled down and even adopted a child. She tried hard to understand their point of view even if she never wanted to settle down herself.
You don't want "lingering attachements"? And Himmel was just a life changing memory? No, Himmel didn't just provide a memory for Frieren - he was in love with her. He never made a family, he probably just waited all the 50 years for her to come back. He was deeply attached to Frieren. He met Eisen and Heiter again and again his whole life because they were friends. How do you even expect it to happen that someone gets a life changing memory from a stranger? "Make sure that every friend (...) wants you to upgrade with them in life (...). The real reason I fall apart with most of my friends is the lack of thriving for greatness and the whole goal of friendships is to bring value." It's pure horror how you view friends as a business partner and how you try to press your compulsion to "improve" onto others - your friends and even people you don't know and who you neither want to be a part in your life. This is the same hustle culture, just not with money but with reputation. You want to hoard reputation. That's why you will never be like Himmel.
The only thing bad was that he didnt have screen time. I want to see him fight. LIKE BRO IMAGINE MAKING A REGULAR SWORD INTO THE HERO SWORD. HES THE LEADER AND LAST PROTAG THAT DEFEATED THE DEMON LORD. IF FRIEREN IS THAT OP IMAGINE THE FUCKIN SWORDSMAN.

In the last decade we had some many anti-heroes, morally gray characters, dark-and-edgy or brooding Noir types, that finally seeing a guy who is just... good, with no caveats, a simple man who wants to help everyone... it's like remembering that you're allowed to be happy.
26 people like this comment, you are commenting something right
Anti-heroes and morally grey characters are good, but I think most people nowadays believe they are better heroes.
@@pasindudinusha6507 It's an IDEAL people should STRIVE for

Tbh, we had someone like tanjiro. A good person that isn't naive and stand up for himself. Too bad demon slayer story is mid
It’s wild how Himmel, a character who isn’t an active character in a story where he’s already dead, has quickly become one of my favorite anime characters ever, purely through the impact he’s left behind
Lizardman you have left a beautiful comment and you impacted 14 people to press the like button!
I love how when I started reading years ago I was like "oh he's cool, but just a normal op hero" nowadays I completely love him and think he's the best character of the whole series and Abe keep on improving him and showing how he's absolutely not a normal op hero , he's not even the "real hero" if there's in fact one , he may not have the sword , but he had everything else alongside him, he's just that good
Exactly!! That deadman who appeared every now and then always placed 1st or 2nd in every popularity pool.
"Are you a hero because some holy sword chose you or are you a hero because you could do anything, holy sword or not" is the exact definition of Himmel
In other video someone said:
I'm not worthy of You.
-The Legendary Sword, probably.
2:30 episode 22 broke me with that scene, because Himmel says EXACTLY what i feel and resonated so much with me, he says something like *"Living means someone knew you and remembers you"* and when Frieren ask him *"How do i make people remember me?"* And Himmel replies *"If you get to change someone's life, even if it's just a bit, i think that's enough"*
Such a good anime and such good characters men...
"Himmel the hero would have done the same"- man who stopped knife attack

No. In Thailand, a fan stopped a knife attack. When he was asked why, 😊he gave that response.

As the saying goes, when in doubt, always ask yourself, "What would Himmel do."
"Himmel deserves the Heaven, but does the Heaven deserve Himmel...?." This was posted by someone else but I really like it so.
Kindness truly is a power in its own right
That is the character of a true hero.
Himmel is strong but most of the time the party is just out of their element due to poor planning. Which lead them to run from a fight and regroup.
In himmel era, there is another hero who was said to be the strongest at the time.
The south hero.
He was attack by Demon king right hand who brought all of demon general, just to kill a single man.
He died in battle, but he manage to kill the demon king right hand and 3 of his demon general.
@@kakyoinnoriaki6743 we need movies on these battles .

Why must you make me cry?
Notice that on Himmel’s first appearance, he had somewhat an “upbeat” voice. But later on, it got “dialed down.” 😮💨
Thats a nice fact, i didnt actually
I will copy a comment here that I saw under another video and I could not said it better myself:
The hero’s comrades started their journey as a corrupt priest, a self-loathing warrior and an emotionally stunted elf.
A piece of art is all im gonna say, that gave me shivers. I love it
Do not just be strong, be strong enough to be gentle.

himmel is literally THE him character
Cant spell himmel without him
he is the type of leader who can be a role model for his members
He is basically Anime Aragorn.
Psychopaths are only interesting in stories not in real life.
@@ShigiAnime Tanjiro at his worst can a little bit patronizing and moralizing to anyone who has different beliefs as his, even if some of them have legitimate reasons to believe that way.

BHAHBA IMAGINE THAT IN A RAP SONG
He is, we need more screen time when they come to the land of spirits..
He may not be the hero of the prophecy but he pave his own way to become a hero.

Sword was like: "I'm not worthy to be your sword"
Keep that dream alive and you will king
Here's a Toast, 'To a Friend!!'. One moment we can take this world. The next we're worlds apart.
I’ll always remember Himmel because he was such a memorable and unique character.
We all want to be Himmel

Totally agree with you! Himmel's kindness is what sets him apart.

@@ShigiAnime Thanks for making this video, it gave me some insight on Himmel's character and how I can apply it. I really liked it.
Not exactly a big Superman fan myself, so no worries there.
Himmel is by far the most pure hero in anime history hes not self righteous he is not special he is not chosen by a sword of any kind doesn't have power yet he is sttong willed and selfless enough to defeat the demon king its no wonder he is more popular then the mc and its no wonder that even after many years after his death that people still remember him😊
Men and would be men! We need to be Himmel for others!
I love the fact to a lot of people, Himmel's a hero not because he was OP, but because he was decent. He's the kind of guy who helps old ladies cross the street and help to pick up groceries dropped on the ground.
I fell in love with him
same no homo
ever since the meme of or headline of the guy stopping a stabbing reason his actions "thats what himmel the hero wouldve done" i've repeated it in my head whenever i have a choice in things, mostly moral. Especially with my newfound appreciation of superman, the good superman, and theres a starman meme.
I dont plan to be as sociable or be as heroic as any of my favorite heroes, but I want to be like them when faced against adversity.
I mean its also free to be kind, try to find pleasure in giving without taking
I think he partially wanted fame i mean at first but later down the line he thought of a better reason. Make as many statues so frieren remembers them
He got that replica hero sword from saving a merchant when he was a kid.
“Lives” changing. When it comes to Himmel, it’s plural. 😏
Himmel is the greatest character in fiction bro

thank you for the kind comment
Cant say himmel without him

I have a theory that the Hero's Sword wasn’t magical, it was never meant to be taken out, it was a test, to see if one was a true hero or not, if one would continue trying to slay the Demon King even knowing they weren’t able to lift the "Hero's Sword".
I belive the Hero's Sword isn’t a physical weapon but is in fact the Soul.

Well that's kind of it but idk if they'll watch the video someday so i didn't wanna expose it in the vid
i really hope the maybe make an anime of frieren himmel's eisen and haiter's adventures
Honestly same but people gotta make more vids on Himmel or just the fanbase needs to show intrest
@@ShigiAnime yeah fr himmel is such a well written character and everyone needs someone like him in their life who can just make people happy
I agree with with most of the points in this vid but, correct me if I'm wrong, I feel like you misunderstand the purpose of friendship.
It isn't a transaction of value. Friendship exists because it can and because we choose to create it.
Any value gained from friendship is purely a bonus.
I thought about this in my car today, the same way but with imagining this:
I would not like to be with an older woman who has a ton of money and a nice car (that's mid or ugly)
But if I had a good looking (good in general) materialistic wise and mentally wise it would just be a bonus, so I agree with you on this one. But the video is older and my opinions change quite drastically so I'm just trying to keep my sanity atp, you're right Seleneium6+1!
Himmel is ambitious, he is kind, a bit mischievous , emotionally intelligent and a great leader and maybe a bit of romancist in adventure sense.
Nah he’s the real hero.
so himmel represents youtubers
That's a valid point i wont lie.
Noted!!
Not complex or complicated comment. Just, great video
Glad you think so
Subscribe for that video BAAAAAABY
BAAAAAAABY!!
Damn he hot. I mean what? Who said that??
Jinxed got hacked again...
Some people aspire to be Jesus Christ. Some people aspire higher and want to be Himnel.
hey bro, almost end of 2024, are you like Himmel?
unfortunately I don't think so, you should ask my close ones :p
His name is Himmel because he is HIM!
MMEL!
I'm jealous to the people who haven't watched the show
cause they can rewatch it the 1st time
I can't wait to read the manga after ep 28 holyyy
Can not spell Himmel without “Him”
Didn’t even watch the video but I want to say your title made me burst out laughing. People hype up anything these days. What the hell is wrong with this fanbase?
damn but you came back to the comment and edited it
@@ShigiAnime it was probably just a typo. I just can’t actually imagine anyone would think such an unoriginal character is life changing.
@@ExpertContrarian TLDR, netflix nowadays its all about women empowering, this empowering etc etc and himmel was just a breath of fresh air because I haven't seen a character like him in modern anime/films for a couple of years. But its fine if you think so I don't mind, thanks for leaving a comment
"It's what Himmel the Hero would have done"

An fan of Himmel that stopped a knife attack ❤
BRO LITERALLY 11 PEOPLE FROM TAIWAN HAVE WATCHED MY VIDEO (Imagine I had 1% of a reason for that) but that's insane
Thanks for the feedback, whats done is done I cant change it now.
You're right. Look at it this way, I'm looking for my Frieren, Aisen and Heiter. The people who will defeat the Demon king with me.
I heard the manga has more Himmel badass scenes. I haven't read it though so idk
oh we have the same name
