Great job on the loom. I use the marine heat shrink with heat activated “glue” that seals the connection. Solid advice on how to read the diagrams and plugs.
Big congratulations to all the winners.👍👍👏👏 Suggestion when doing wiring repairs try and lay the loom on a board and peg it out, mark on the board what each plug/connector goes too. So when you unwrap the loom at least it's easier to lay down a new wire to the right length plus a bit more. Another tip is using cable ties to keep the loom sections together making rewrapping the loom up easier, just cut each cable tie off as you move along the loom wrapping.👍👍
Nice job on the wiring. I'm sure that can be a major headache, but you do very meticulous work, so I'm sure you will have no wire gremlins sticking around once you get that into the 40. Your build is coming along great by the way.
Wow. That is a lot of work. Where do you get the large wiring diagrams? The old owner’s manuals I have all have small diagrams that are hard to read with my old eyes
Yep it is a lot, not quite finished with wiring yet, I printed the diagrams off on 3 A4 bits of paper then stuck them together. I can email you one if you like.
Hey mate would you be able to send a copy to myself as well, i acquired a beauty 45 but someone has gotten ahold of the harness and made a mangle of it cheers mate, Bradleykempe@gmail.com
Hello, great job on the loom. I am doing the same to my 1983 troopy. I neee your help with wire sizes needed for the loom? Shall I use 14awg or 16awg or 12? I could not find this information anywhere. Thanks in advance
@@40ChannelCruiser thanks mate, checked them out and they are 10 bucks dearer than the other usa mob, {cool cruisers} the only reason i didnt order one from cool cruisers is because they wanted 55$ u.s for postage..bit much for something that only weighs a few grams..cheers
@@bocam57fe This is a mistake I'll have to live with😪. It stuck down almost instantly, and there in not Stretch in the foam back roof lining. I could made a roof console to hide it down the track.🤷♂️ But this is what my build is all about having a go at very part (even things I have never done before) to cut out labour cost.
Does Toyota or Aftermarket offer a replacement wiring loom for FJ40? And i am not talking about EZ wiring kit where you get a fuse block and a bunch of wires you have to figure out where they go. But asking if there is a place to buy a wiring loom that is plug and play with connectors to match and all.
Hey I've been watching your videos as a reference to restore my 79 fj40, I'm now on the rewiring step since most of the wires on my truck are basically useless and have a ratsnest of wires running trhough it. by any chance do you know more or less how much wire do I need to buy? thanks! great videos!
This was great. I'm stripping down my old loo right now and getting rid of scabby connections and reworking with solder and shrink tube. Well done.
Good work Brian, Yes it gives you confidence that there is no dodgy joints or damaged wires in your wiring loom that can cause issues down the track.

I found myself stumped by a Vespa loom - what a fantastic job you’ve done! She’ll be good for another 50 years.
Big congratulations to all the winners.👍👍👏👏

Thanks mate, I'll do that lay it out and put some cables tie when I go to wrap it. I do have every plug label with tape which helps.
Another great video. Thanks for the knowledge about the wiring harness I dont have much experience and this has given me some great tips!
That had to be fun for you to be able to give back. Congratulations to the winners. I was hoping to win a shirt 🦋

I have seen a guy on an Australian 40 Forum that makes new looms. Not sure of his name.

G'day mate
how did you go about finding the factory color wire?
I stripped two wiring looms, used the best and cleanest wirings of the two to make one good loom, to keep with the Toyota colours.
where can i find the diagram?
Send me an email and I'll send it to you.
