No Johnny, you have to go inside and prepay for fuel if you are driving a non company truck and need diesel or DEF. I had a 2011 F250 with a 6.7 powerstroke and i had to use the semi fuel island because i needed DEF and that is how our PILOT does it anyway. Love your videos man, from one driver to another, keep it safe and keep it rubber side down.
One of the things we all forget that when you are on a hill the fuel sometimes sloshes towards the back of the tank so it sometimes doesn't make it to that fill tube.
On one of the farms trucks, it returns more fuel to the tank with the gauge than the other side. Any time our gauge read 1/4 if we shut it off, leave it set for 2 hours it will show less than 1/8 tank.
Def fluid is even more expensive if you have to buy it inside the truck stop it's crazy. I think I heard people say it's cheaper at the pump. But it's always good to have extra Def available to you just in case. ~Brandan S
JGB please stop worrying about the company the company has to pick up all expenses tolls scale tickets toll roads fuel your main concern should be driving being safe returning home to your family stop putting so much burdens upon yourself
You run out of diesel, it's not like a car. You have to pump the lines to get the air out. I got stuck in WI when my box truck ran out of diesel. They guy who drove the truck before me (wasn't my regular truck) didn't fill it that morning. Was stuck for 4 hours while the company brought another truck & had to transfer my load to finish my route. Took that driver an hour to pump fuel through the the lines. Not fun.
Unbelievable, the general rule is never allow fuel gage go below a 1/4 tank, in case you get stuck somewhere you won't freeze, I have to admit that yes it happened to me in my first year driving, I never told anyone, drive safe.
One time I was inside paying for fuel, my other team driver got up to go to men's room and forgot to leave the curtain open inside the cab, so I would know he was out of the truck, so when I finished fueling I jumped in the truck and took off down the interstate, 3 hrs later despatch is calling and asking if I was missing anything, and I said not that I know of, then I realized what she was talking about, that's when I needed a beer or two or ?
I loved the joy you shared on how God rescued you JBG and also gave you a *very timely* parking spot~!... agreed @ 29:00 ...I once read that a *coincidence is when God chooses to be anonymous* ...lol... < :))
Low fuel level in tanks to begin with and then park for the night (incline leaning to the passenger side) maybe fuel level dropped below fuel line pick up in drivers side tank ?
hey John I learned to drive tractor trailers about 17 or 16 years old only did it for 3-4 days sadly I cannot drive your truck I don't want to get you fired but if I could you would be absolutely amazed how well I can drive it. I just better than most professional drivers this crazy and I haven't driven it since oh my goodness 12 or 13 years years now. ~Brandan S
Just caught this vid. Sometimes its rubbish (rus flakes, deposits) at bottom of tank that floats up and clogs the line even when you have a quarter tank. Pretty common in petrol vehicles. I'd use an STP tank cleaner fuel additive. Not sure if its available for diesel. Google it 😊
Lesson to be learn here. Do not rely on your fuel gauge. Know your vehicle's mileage. This apply for 4 wheelers, buses and straight trucks. Been there done that.
I almost ran out of fuel crossing the salt lake.. in utah I got to the point where I was running about 45 cheeks clenched grinding teeth I can see the other side for the longest time thank God the first thing you run into on the right hand side in wendover is a truck stop she was puttering pulling into the fuel island ever since then I don't go too much below I have a tank
If your tanks are 100 gallons each you only actually get about 80 to 85 gallons total in each tank. So baby blue was empty and sitting in the hill at the light didn't help anything either lol glad you got into the fuel islands thought
Jochen P. Wilhelms. The float/ measurement in the tanks is only on the drivers side and it doesn't read the actual amount. If he has 150 gallons on each side usable fuel is approximately 260 gallons. Also diesel is more ca
From memory, a heavy diesel motor returns something like 87% of the fuel picked up from the tank, through the fuel system (pump, injectors etc) BACK to the tank. Here, in Australia we rely on the volume of the fuel in the tank to COOL that returned fuel back down before it is recirculated . As a result, we highly commend that you never, EVER have less than 1/3 of a tan of fuel at any time. If you don't, you risk heating the fuel so much (here due to our extreme heat) of burning the tips off injectors and the like. In coming up to 40 years on the equivalent of your TR I've never had a motor blow up or damaged a single injector, and I honestly believe that it's because I NEVER run fuel even close to being low and the other preventative work I do (as outlined below). Additionally, with gravity fed crossover lines between the tanks, if either breather is blocked and the fuel caps properly secured, the resultant vacuum as fuel is drawn/crosses over from one tank to the other can result in a significant gauge error - especially here, in our Outback, where we do high percentage of our driving on dusty, dirt roads. As a result of this, as a preventative maintenance regime I clean the tank breather filters and lines every couple of months, and even more so if doing increased off road/dirt! Obviously, you wouldn't do a lot of dusty roads, but even in your conditions, it wouldn't hurt clean them every "c" service (roughly every 60,000 miles) as it is a really simple procedure to free them up. As a "PS", we DO have high temps here and since Christmas I think we've had only 3 or 4 days where I work where the max temps for the day have been UNDER 102 Deg F! Good to see that all is well that ends well for you!
I'd get B. Blue checked as soon as you can coz it should have started at a half tank. All these people criticizing about ur weight, yet you are out there working your butt off everyday, delivering much needed goods. A truck driver's life is hard, so you do what you think is best for you to keep going, all things happen in their right time. Last time B. Blue was hard to start it had a cracked cylinder sleeve :( As a courtesy you should turn your head lights off when in a truck stop parking lot.
See how on the fuel gauge there is a solid Bar, which the needle was actually on, the behind that, there were like 3 or 4 dots, Did the needle have to be ALL the way on Empty which it wasnt for blue to be totally out of fuel?????
I CAN'T BELIEVE I AM BINGE WATCHING A TRUCKER BLOG!!!!!!☺☺☺☺ IN REFERENCE TO MY ADVICE ABOUT TALKING TO LEO, THAT STILL STANDS!! BUT WHEN IT COMES TO TRUCKER TALK, PLEASE TALK ON!!!!!!!☺☺☺☺ GREAT BLOG!! OH YEAH, YOUR BLOG REMINDS ME OF THIS TV PROGRAM I USED TO WATCH WHEN I WAS A KID!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT WAS???☺☺ YOU CAN STILL SEE IT ON RUclips!!!!
this may sound stupid but did you climb any hills fuel being low could have sloshed to the back and caused a sucking in of air as the inlet became exposed
my father taught me to never go below 1/4 of a tank, if you can. why, after a while the dirt, water, or float may be stuck and all the other stuff that gathers at the bottom of your tank may cause these kind of minor problems. I know some people cant do this. If you can saves some problems...*
How are you driving the truck when it's out of fuel lol...and it still says a quarter of a tank lol there might be something wrong with the engine or it could just be a line in the engine probably lol?????
next time you get pulled in four. Check don't leave a big gap to fill up the ramp so other trucks can go by that's probably why you got pulled in it. The dot guys no about that to sometimes you have to think about yourself
yes DEF fluid is crazy expensive and doesn't really have many good properties to it except when your truck goes into a regen I heard anyway. and by the way John I use this RUclips to watch all your videos that's why I put my name and Coal Township after every comment so you know it's me my friend. I don't know if you recorded this this morning or not. Either way have a great Wednesday my friend! Can't wait to meet you again buddy! This time we must make RUclips videos! That will be fun. and I'm going to freaking save this time so I don't look like Wolverine haha. P.S. Brambo is my nickname since I was a tiny kid.. so you can call me that or Brandan on the videos it really doesn't matter to me. I need one of those Sony cameras because my cell phone is too heavy on my hat. And it's so crazy fast how it sends video from the camera to your phone without wires. When we met I didn't even know you were recording me LOL ~Brandan S.
actually you did not run out of fuel if you were able to make it to the diesel pumps. If you ran out on the highway somewhere now that would really really suck. have a great Wednesday John wish you were coming to Coal Township again this week. Hopefully next week though. I don't want to be able to hang out with you a bit longer this time if that's okay my friend. And make RUclips videos for both of our channels. I think that would be really really cool. Even though I do not have a fraction of the subscribers that you have. ~Brandan S. Coal Township, PA.
You forgot to buy 'Blinker Fluid' again, your boss might fire you if he finds out!! (Ha Ha). Don't inhale the Ether/Easy start too much you could fall asleep with that stuff, i used it loads in the winters of the early 1970s to start the trucks i drove back then.
Vegans do eat grass, its called salad. I like salad. Also, blessing from the lord or coincidence, bottom line is u were lucky finding that spot. Sleep well,
Is that the most fuel you have ever bought at one time? Just hope you did run out of fuel and there is not another issue. Seems weird you were able to fire it up and get it to the fuel island with no fuel.
Its hard on the steering column, but dang near every trucker I know, including myself, do it everytime we get in and out, especially the older we get. :)
What an artform backing one of these big rigs truly is...it has to be for sure one of the most difficult things for a new driver to master....
Fuel in the tank is like money in the bank. You can't have too much.
You can if your on fire!
That's very true. So I totally agree.
Amen John.
God will always make a way for you.......U always praise him!!! 🙌
god bless you T
Amen. Praise the lord.
I'm glad you made it to the truck stop.
Man am glad everything turn out all right i was worry there for a moment JBG

I mean the fuel line to the engine from the tank.
are you one of the famous indian truck drivers!?
I like the fact that you keep it real an things do go wrong.
On one of the farms trucks, it returns more fuel to the tank with the gauge than the other side. Any time our gauge read 1/4 if we shut it off, leave it set for 2 hours it will show less than 1/8 tank.

You dodged a bullet on that one. At least ya weren't out in the middle of nowhere !!
JGB please stop worrying about the company the company has to pick up all expenses tolls scale tickets toll roads fuel your main concern should be driving being safe returning home to your family stop putting so much burdens upon yourself
well if the truck is not moving his not making any money his company is not making any money so yeah u have to worry

Not fun.
holy Smokies baby blue almost didn't start up thankfully she did John!
Thanks for the video you’re a very good driver you can handle baby blue
JBG you always have to be prepared always thank God that you made it to the gas station
In the UK the cost of that diesel would've been $1200.... no wonder the UK industry is in crisis.
Joe Biden, 2022: Hold my beer!
You made it John ! Whew !!!!
amen on the blessing on the big and little things in are life's.
It was a blessing some one above was watching over you
I have tried to fill up a straight truck on credit / debit card . But since wasn't tax exempt I had to go inside to authorize pump .
wow she really took a big drink. now she's freshly refueled and ready to go more miles.
"Because my wallet is made of leather." ahahaha! Nice one!
Hahaha
In the future use fogging oil instead of ether! Your engine will thank you, ether has no lubricating properties but fogging oil absolutely does.
Unbelievable, the general rule is never allow fuel gage go below a 1/4 tank, in case you get stuck somewhere you won't freeze, I have to admit that yes it happened to me in my first year driving, I never told anyone, drive safe.
Sometimes it’s unavoidable but most of the time it’s just laziness ha ha ha ha
One time I was inside paying for fuel, my other team driver got up to go to men's room and forgot to leave the curtain open inside the cab, so I would know he was out of the truck, so when I finished fueling I jumped in the truck and took off down the interstate, 3 hrs later despatch is calling and asking if I was missing anything, and I said not that I know of, then I realized what she was talking about, that's when I needed a beer or two or ?

JBG get them loads rocking my man your doing great I can't believe you got kicked out for that B.S at the restaurant!!!!
Wooo........ that was scary John... Might need to check that gauge out though? It sure looked like a quarter of a tank of Diesel left...
You're a damn.good backer. a professional driver you are, I never see any other driver video their backing I'm, subscribed too
You treat Babyblue so well, Allways give babyblue a Good drink. and Babyblue does this to you.
Amen brother
probably out of fuel in one tank JBG, Its a Freightliner they all do it when one of the vents get plugged.
Johnny, I’m in Chardon Oh off of interstate 90 in northeastern Ohio. Never heard of London Ohio, London England but that’s it.
I appreciate you giving the good Lord Jesus the glory and thanks in all things. Blessings!

Backing up with a trailer hooked on to your truck seems hard & Tricky.
Dog gone! I ran out of beer one time too!
Just saw my company go by!!!
cross over line is likely stopped up & fuel is not equaling between tanks.
ur going crazy Mr US 50 😂😂😂😂
Have A Good Day John
I almost ran out of fuel crossing the salt lake.. in utah I got to the point where I was running about 45 cheeks clenched grinding teeth I can see the other side for the longest time thank God the first thing you run into on the right hand side in wendover is a truck stop she was puttering pulling into the fuel island ever since then I don't go too much below I have a tank

JBG don't tell me that you ran out of fuel
A little more than "low fuel" going on there after that second startup, engine getting a bit starved, keep an eye on it, and let your boss know
It's doing good now
maybe it's time for a filter change
fuel gauges LIE I never trusted them your lucky you had starting fluid Good Morning John
I do not understand, why the fuel gauges of trucks lie often more than the one in cars?

you may a pick up problem in your tanks. check the depth of your pickup tubes. make sure they are free of debris

outbacktraveller58 all new Heavy duty Diesels fuel temperature is stabilized by engine coolant
Дивись в Очко I’m not doubting you, but that just doesn’t make a lot of sense, given that most of them now run at about 100 deg C.
Go Go Go Baby Blue!!!
I had run out of fuel once but turned out it was the fuel pump went bad.. I had a quarter tank left too
Wonder if it didn't transfer from one tank to the other after filling only one tank.
That’s never fun to get dry tanks the go go juice is the lifeblood of big blue she’s happy with it.
Could there have been an issue with the fuel pump? Or fuel filter? Don’t know how diesel works
I'd get B. Blue checked as soon as you can coz it should have started at a half tank. As a courtesy you should turn your head lights off when in a truck stop parking lot.
you should download the pilot fuel app too your because it offers more reward points than just using your fuel reward card.

Jbg how do you turn on the washer fluid no the windshield wipers on babyblue
Could be u were on a incline so the fuel u had ran the rear of ur tanks. Possibilitiy?
OK I don’t know too much about trucks but this video is very interesting what was the fourth fool you put in the truck
You got to make sure there is fuel in both tanks..than it won't stall on you
this may sound stupid but did you climb any hills fuel being low could have sloshed to the back and caused a sucking in of air as the inlet became exposed
Don't ever get that low on fuel
Otherwise would be close to 1/2 a tank,Before any load assignment do want to refuel or make a fuel stop
ran out o fuel wow!
Maybe Baby Blue needs a filter change !
my father taught me to never go below 1/4 of a tank, if you can. why, after a while the dirt, water, or float may be stuck and all the other stuff that gathers at the bottom of your tank may cause these kind of minor problems. I know some people cant do this. If you can saves some problems...*

If you cannot find a parking space at a truck stop, then what are you supposed to do? Park on the highway?
Any digital readout? wonder what that says.
hi J BG have a nice days the 7 may I have my kee operaded at moncton nb.
Nothing like a good filet mignon John lol .... the vegans can go eat grass

Johnny if you have time go on RUclips in check-out New Zealand trucks they are massive
Would the truck shut down if you ran out of DEF fluid?
There are times when you need to refuel. May have to make a fuel stop
An refuel DEF-Tank
Beer messes up your mind
Do you use fuel line ant-freeze?
actually you did not run out of fuel if you were able to make it to the diesel pumps. I hate when that happens. Sorry John. Gauges are not always right.
technically where your fuel gauge was reading was the empty mark before you started refueling. hopefully it won't happen again. be safe
People with OCD are triggered trying to make an even $60.00 and landed at $60.04 23:15
awwww man! that sucks

Unfortunately, the woman who ran of gas,His Lord did not dictate him,to help her out,,,,,
You forgot to buy 'Blinker Fluid' again, your boss might fire you if he finds out!! (Ha Ha). Don't inhale the Ether/Easy start too much you could fall asleep with that stuff, i used it loads in the winters of the early 1970s to start the trucks i drove back then.
The offramp is cursed
you should always fill both sides, it draws fuel from both sides at once, since there is no crossover lines.
Vegans do eat grass, its called salad. I like salad. Also, blessing from the lord or coincidence, bottom line is u were lucky finding that spot. Sleep well,
Too close for comfort! : )
Is that the most fuel you have ever bought at one time? Just hope you did run out of fuel and there is not another issue. Seems weird you were able to fire it up and get it to the fuel island with no fuel.
JBG you get a bad habit grabbing the steering to climb into the truck
Its hard on the steering column, but dang near every trucker I know, including myself, do it everytime we get in and out, especially the older we get. :)
Peace Out!
That's a DOT violation to have trash in the front seat btw
