Thanks for watching! Don’t forget my new Nest Doorbell Battery video I also just uploaded here: ruclips.net/video/b29jZ1Xxm1s/видео.html I talk about the missing 24/7 on their newest doorbell.
What do you think or know about the difference in the floodlight kit from Wasserstein, for the Nest battery powered camera, and the floodlight version of this camera that's coming out? I'm curious about which is better.
The cord is facing the front so you can adjust the camera. If the cord faced towards the back instead of the front, it would limit the camera adjustments. We love the design and mount.
The wire actually makes sense. I have the camera pointing mostly down and if the wire pointed the other way it wouldn't allow the camera to point down that much. My problem is with the home app compared to the nest app. The nest app is 1000 times better, I wish I could have found the old outdoor camera that worked in the nest app. You can't scrub the timeline like you can with the nest app.
Thank you for pointing out the camera can be hardwired outside. I could not find that anywhere on Google's site. These are the best cameras to go with because of the 24/7 audio/video recording capabilities.
For keeping an eye on my house/yard I think 1080p will be fine. TBH these cams really only allow me to relive the incident in question. I get to see that guy steal my bike over and over again.
Google Home App is not that bad, they constantly update it. I haven’t messed with the Nest App, been enjoying the Home App. Love the Nest Cams and Doorbell. I have 4 Cams along with the doorbell, currently waiting for weatherproof cables to get here. Gonna go 24/7. Activity zones help, along with its face detection that works 95% of the time. Battery would last me around a month, (would have it on the highest sensitivity, max quality, and recording 3 minutes every event. 2 way talking scares people all the time. 😂
Testing must have proved that it could interfere with some scenarios where the cable could hit something outside the house. Like being too close to an outstanding brick, something like that.
That power cord design is literally insane. Why didn’t they design it so it could be plugged in from either direction?! Can imagine kinking the charging cable to push it through a wall is great for the cord either.
The power cable acts like a drip line, I think. If it’s plugged in the wrong way, water can follow the cable into the electrical connection. Plug it in the correct (but weird looking) way, and it will behave like a proper drip line, keeping water out of the electrical connection.
I purchased two of these cameras. One of them the battery dies 20-30% per day. The worst part is that the nest aware events DOES NOT work. If a car pulls up and it happens to catch it then I see the last few seconds of vehicle driving away. I had two bicycles out front removed right in front of camera and it showed nothing in the events. Spent hours and days with Google and they offered to credit one month subscription of nest aware 😂
This is one of the biggest letdowns for me ever released by Google. I'm a total google Fanboy and have owned Nest Cams from the start. Two things that are absolutely horrendous by this release: 1. The power cord adapter is just out of this world ridiculous. Whoever, designed this needs to be fired ASAP. 2. The cameras do NOT work, I repeat, do NOT work with the Nest App. If you're going to release a piece of hardware thats your own, at least make it backward compatible. With my setup, I stream my cameras through the Nest Web App. Cannot do this anymore and I have to say. I submitted a return because of this. I cannot believe this. I'm seriously considering changing to Ring or another camera manufacturer.
Coming from a Nest Fanboy this feels like a piece of garbage, Nest cam that doesn’t work with the Nest App 🤔. Power cable cable is a joke, my high school son and his engineering club would have come up a far better design Limited features compared to the Nest Outdoor IQ And they call this an upgrade 🤔 Ok ok ok .. is has a battery built-in just in case you have nothing better to do with your life than getting your ladder out to recharge it 😂
@@mhlovelady i wanted to get a couple of those as well but I won’t anymore unless they make it work with the nest app. The Google home app is already too cluttered
How can you see multiple cameras at once? Google representative said multiple view works only with the old Nest cameras that are wired but clearly you showed it can be done with the newer nest camera. Please help, thank you.
Great video as always Reed! For your upcoming review of the floodlight camera, can you cover the different possible mounting positions for it? My house has a floodlight that's mounted on an overhang (so basically upside down). Fine for a basic floodlight, but I can't find anything that shows how that would work for the Nest Floodlight Cam. Thanks!
Question, with the solar panel attachment, will the camera do 24/7 video or will it only do that during sunlight hours? Also, does the theft protection accessory have a cutout for the power cable?
I think we have all been anxiously awaiting these cameras for a while. However, the surprise that is does NOT use the nest app like my other cameras do is something that doesn’t seem to bother people much. Am I missing something?? The thought of my cameras NOT being all in one easy to use app sounds terrible! Please educate me if I am thinking about this the wrong way! Thanks! Have always loved your content by the way!!
I feel like with well routed wiring (that enters the building at the point where the camera is mounted), you could make the forward-sticking power connector just sort of naturally curve into a small and neat drip loop.
@@PoisonWaffle3 That's definitely the better option, not going to argue that. There were better ways to execute this design, but it is what it is and I think a well placed drip loop could help hide the sin.
Time for a new comparison video. Wondering how these compare to the eufycam 2's. With local storage and ai, combined with similar price, im wondering which are better.
I think I figured out the wire, it's for If the camera is on an aggressive angle looking down then the cable will still provide a drip point if mounted outside, like if it got rained on. Maybe, I'm not a camera engineer so I'm just guessing
I have a Blink camera set up. I have all google home devices. Would it be worth moving to these cameras to replace the Blink? Maybe do a comparison video of Nest Cam battery Vs Blink.
They make it sound like it's 3 cumulative hours of footage, which would be hundreds of 30 second long videos. In reality, someone breaks into your car at 1AM and by the time you wake up at 6AM the footage is gone. Pretty stupid and Google doesn't recieve enough hate for it IMO
Ok so I have the older Outdoor nest cam with cord and I use the Nest App. I also have Nest aware for 5 days of live recording . This one will require ANOTHER app? Can I combined my old nest camera to the home app along with this one ?
Wait, does it keep the event recording for 3 hours or do you get 3 hours worth of event recording (i.e. you won't have 3 hours worth of event footage overnight)?

No it's really easy. The doorbell is just a few screws in the wall. The camera is just two screws as well. I mounted it to a plate that I showed in that outdoor security camera video I did recently so I'm not putting holes all over my house.
When I pre-ordered ours no more outdoor power cord is available. I am planning to use the stock charger cord, my power outlet is indoors. Is there a difference with the stock cord and outdoor cord that attached on the camera end?
Thanks for posting. But I do have a few questions. For someone who is deep into the nest ecosystem and already owns numerous Nest Outdoor & Indoor cameras…are you saying these new cameras will not work with my existing Nest Aware plan and not be compatible with the current Nest app? Secondly, I’d have to 1. ONLY use the Google Home app to view them & 2. have to pay a separate monthly fee aside form what I pay yearly for Nest Aware?
