I'm also not a fan of any newer Amouage since Overture (I do make an exception for Boundless because it fits my style, but it's not Amouage). I'll stick to the older releases everytime I find good deals on them

Thank you for an accurate and really honest review man! I totally agree with you, I feel sad to see those misleading, rushed reviews out there! I don't understand where did they get those blurbs from, not certainly by smelling it or if so, their noses are broken lol I also see that King Blue is indeed a more easy-to-approach twist on Silver Oud (which actually, I said exactly that in my own review I posted last Friday on Instagram). However, I do love the scent for kinda smart casual nightouts. It gets the job done but nothing groundbreaking. This thing really screams for attention and it def gets it. I wore it and hit the town last Saturday, couple ladies commented on it saying: "It smells like money". haha

Wow, I am flabbergasted from this video since I have been living only in my own little world and enjoying only the myriad of perfumes that I have had for a long time. However, Ram the Man, I am finally enjoying everything I already own with little knowledge of any new fragrances. But the bottom line is that I still smell good and don’t think I am missing many new things because I already have a great collection even if it is not up to date. But every time I spray one of my vintage fragrances, I think that you would also enjoy one of those sprays. On another note, I am glad you are back and you still have a lot of exuberance for all the smells that you love .
I will never change Phyllis... its just that over these next 3 months or so i may be hit or miss on making videos ...but I will try my best to continue to be steady with the videos but there may be some circumstances beyond my control that will stop my from regularly making videos like I would like to lets say
@@RamseytheRam you only need to do what works for you. You have been a major boon to all of us fragrance lovers. But the bottom line is that you should do what works for you, we all seem to end up with someone who has absolutely no connection with we are into. But that is life. I am completely in my own even though at my “advanced age”, I have several men who want to be in my life, including one who asked me to recommend a fragrance for his daughter whom I never met. However, my selection worked and his daughter loved the perfume. No big deal, but it makes me happy that there are still people out there who appreciate our sense of smell, which most people ignore unless their house is on fire. I hope you can keep doing whatever makes you happy.

Another great video. You can see the utter confusion on the face of some youtubers when they smell this & it's not the blue shower gel fragrance they are expecting from the name. They have no idea what to make of it 😂 also have you seen process are increasing yet again! Roja, chanel & many more!

Thanks for this impression. This wasn't a fragrance I was really interested in, but it is nice to get an honest opinion. Most RUclips reviewers aren't going to have the gonads to give an honest opinion of this fragrance. I think I am going to stick with getting the pre-magnetic cap Amouage fragrances. I have a pre-magnetic cap bottle of Gold Man coming from Britain, but I won't feel at ease until it arrives.
Congrats! I have always wanted to smell the pre-magnetic cap Gold Man... tbh I have a bottle that is made in the UK (which that plant doesnt exist anymore) and it is a magnetic cap and I love it ...but who knows what the modern formula is like ... probably 👎
I think Christopher chong is working at thameen now. I've heard they have been releasing some fragrances, haven't tried any tho

I have smelled this and it’s not a bod fragrance to me. Not my favorite by any means, but it doesn’t annoy me to the point that I couldn’t wear it.

I've shit on these new Amouages for a while but I get why they are going the way they are going. People love deep amberwood bases, so I'm not surprised of Amouage's direction, but I'm done with them. PDM, Initio, new Amouage, those disgusting new Chess piece scents. The houses load the bases with ambroxan, cashmeran, IsoE and other fixatives to amplify the top notes at the Neiman counter to justify those prices. Unique'e might be the worst, you're right - but I do love the deeply discounted Beverly Hills Exclusive I got, for some reason. 🤷♂

I've heard that some of the older Amouage fragrances have been reformulated at the same time they were put into the newer appearance packaging. Do you know if the formulation of "Journey Man" in the new packaging is any different from the formulation in the previous packaging? Recently, I bought a bottle of "Journey Man" from Fragbuy because they were showing the picture of the older packaging, and when I received it, I saw that they sent me a new formulation version. I'm wondering if I should send it back, but if the fragrance isn't different, then I'll just keep it. I haven't opened the cellophane yet.
I honestly dont know but since you can still find the older packaging with the name on the side for not much more I would send it back🤷🏻♂️

@@RamseytheRam Yesterday, I wrote to Renaud Salmon of Amouage, and he told me that "Journey Man" is one of the fragrances which wasn't reformulated. That's proof to me that new presentation doesn't always automatically mean reformulation: I was worried about that. He also briefly mentioned IFRA 51, but he doesn't know if that would affect Amouage in any way. I guess the IFRA might ban some ingredients next year. Renaud seemed very nice.
@@regismonktona good way to check on reformulations is to google „amouagr journey ingredients“ and then try to find a old and a new version ingredient/allergene list and compare the listed ingredients (the sequence of the ingredients is also a sign for a reformulation). Some brands like Dior make it really easy and give every slightly changed formula an own formula code, so you just have to compare the codes).
@@regismonktonI tested the newest Journey with an older tester - the opening was a little different but after 30-60 Minutes they started more and more smelling identical. Same goes for Interlude, Beach Hut Man is very strong when you give it 6 Month after you opened and used it.
As for Jubilation, I bought an older sealed bottle with the old packaging but the new bottle style, Jubilation writing on the front. Right now it is a little weak (but the smell is awesome), I could imagine that the scent will be stronger in a few months.
I hear Jubilation 40 is coming out later this year. Are you going to give this one a chance? I was super pumped when I heard awhile back that Amouage was going to do a flanker of this one but I agree with you on your thoughts of this house. I hope they don’t find a way to butcher Jubilation 40. I hope it’s amazing but I am not overly optimistic
I have two older bottles of Jubilation XXV I am more than happy with... if someone sends me some Jubi 40 I will talk about it but I wont spend a $ of my own money on Amouage any longer

great video as always ramsey but im very curious why you say its amouages gateway to new mainstream consumers. i went to test some fragrances at store and sprayed this one on my arm too and even after 7 hours i can still get the barn yard fecal oud strongly. the first 30 minutes my hand only smelled like horse feces and after that i could get incense+ fresh fruits. all are sitting on ambery notes and leather but im curious why you think its a mass appealing scent despite that extreme barn yard scent to it.
I guess everyone's nose is different

Ah! I found it! Hahaha oh scorchingly accurate review though! Absolutely agree I wish they'd keep all the old amouage bottles.. silver oud i actually did love too 🤣 i think im with you on this though as well silver oud is less friendly than king blue, but there's something addictive about it. Im 28 and yeah, i dont have the breadth of experience you have with older fragrances but i do enjoy some vintage stuff too. I think ifra meeds to chill out with some of these restrictions on naturals, the fragrances of old just had that "something" that made em shine and project like mad and truly not be on your clothes for months 🤣 but i do like beast mode too. Enclave is different yet also mass appealing imo. I think its interesting to see the hate for it yet also, just simply enjoy it for what it is. But i will, like you, be lamenting one of the best creative directors ive ever heard of. The end of an era. I pray amouage turns themselves aroumd and goes back to what makes them the unofficial kings of niche. They have something for everyone, but with chong era scents.. they were something for YOU and signature worthy and memorable at that. Some just dont do it for me either. I will wait and see though.

I tried King Blue. This is nothing like Layton in smell or anything else. This not mass pleasing nor suitable for young guys, in fact it's completely the opposite. I understand that Amouage recently is releasing some mass pleasing frags but never do that in the opus line.
I dont think it smells like Layton but I think the perfumer used some of the same tricks as in Layton... i also think this will be Amouage modern Layton moment ... thanks for watching🙂
Honest, potentially negative, video fragrance reviews with a tendency to rant about the direction of the brand are extremely rare. Thank you for providing that. I hope you're doing well. For what it's worth I only have Epic Man - I've sampled the others and haven't felt the itch to buy a full bottle, but I recognize the craft involved in Reflection Man and other classic ones, of course.

Sorry but this is complete unnecessary hate. Of this was released by another brand as the brand’s oud it’d be praised. And it absolutely has hints of both Aventus and Baccarat Rouge with myself being asked if it was either of them multiple times. It has a similar patchouli accord and amber accord respectively to the fragrances mentioned.
As for the brand’s direction it was a mess before with fragrances that failed because 3 people bought them. It wasn’t sustainable and yes it steering more mainstream but by no means is this not a niche fragrance.

I just this month picked up a full tester of Amouage Opus vi for $140. Why would I pay $300-$500 for this, when there are older Amouage’s I don’t own for decent prices?

Well, I tried it for myself and... 100% agreed. As I had posted on a more recent video... rotting mandarins on top of the Silver Oud oud note. Pointless frag without a reason to exist, to paraphrase the great Craig Zahler.

Interestingly the last collection appears to have bombed both commercially (at least where I am) and critically. It seems like it failed to please anyone with mainstream tastes finding it too difficult and people like us hating the new direction (although I do love Lineage). I never really had a problem with the brand direction and even now it doesn't annoy me too much, I'll still try them but odds are I'll only buy like 1 bottle max per collection release.
That being said as boring/tragic as King Blue may be, it is nothing compared to the jokes they released and called "attars". If you do try them I'll definitely watch that video with a bowl of popcorn (Saffron one is quite nice though hahaha).
Amouage Attars are on the to sniff list for sure Wuzi... thanks for watching & sharing your feedback🙂

😂 there is definitely real oud in this. And who are you around in North America that thinks this is mass appealing. Most definitely niche. More likable than some previous creations but by no means a youthful compliment getter at least not by Western standards.

I decided to buy the Interlude 53, not because I need it, but because of the fond memories I have with the original
King blue ……it’s neither a king nor blue. The feedback is not great for this one on Fragrantica either. I will gladly give this one a miss….
