- Whipple Supercharged 2018 Ford F150 5.0L Coyote truck. This 2018 5.0L lead foot gray 4wd F150 was fitted with a Whipple Supercharger, Stage 2 F150 50-state legal SC System that showed just over 606RWHP.
Great setup, we just added the same system to our Roush 2018 4wd, the tune is spot on and drives sooo smooth
Any need to change the OPG's on the F150s? Are they brittle like the stock mustangs?
No, absolutely not. The F150 does not turn the RPM that the Mustangs do and has a better balancer for the RPM range its run. No need for OPGs. The factory ones are not brittle, just designed for factory harmonics. If you get outside the harmonic design tolerance, it will fail. Keeping factory balancer is important on the F150.
Great thanks. I have the 2017 which has a little lower compression so I am assuming to get the power of the 18 I will use a different pulley. Correct?
Actually the same pulley as the cylinder heads and cam flow more air.
I realize I'm a year late, but I think saying anything definitively is a little foolish. There are quite a few instances of broken OPG/CS pieces in Whipple F150 setups.
If you wrench yourself, its absolutely worth the few hundred dollars in parts and day of labor for the peace of mind it provides.
Does anyone know why the factory curve is so lumpy, you can actually feel that through the rpm band.
Dayumm
Was this on Whipple's stock calibration for this engine model or was it custom tuned?
that sound tho
Question: is there constant or a reduction in boost at anytime or is the motor always under 9lbs of pressure? Im wondering about general day to day driving and longevity of my F150.. I dont want to cause any major issues say 5-7 yrs down the road. Should I be worrying about such things as reliability of the 5.0L engine if Im also thinking about superchargers?
A supercharger only makes boost when engine load needs it, thus you open the throttle enough to flow enough air to make boost. During normal driving, your in vacuum most of the time, therefore it doesn't add any wear/tear during normal operation. No issues with high mileage, daily driving.
Do you think upgraded oil pump gears are needed?
FORD

All stock exhaust?
What pulley came on this ? What was the psi level?
I just ordered the stage 2 kit for my 18 f150. Do you have any idea how much boost the stage 2 kit makes on the 18 f150? Not that it matters, just curious.
Boost varies some depending conditions but between 11.5-12.0 psi
@@WhippleSuperchargers recommended supporting international mods?
Does this truck still turn off at a stop light with supercharger
Can you do a step by step install video?
Were working on one, hope to have up rather soon.
Do you have one avail for 2019 F150 5.0? or same kit? What is time for install if one were to bring a new truck by your shop?
Yes, we have the same system for the 2019 model year. We could schedule one in 3 weeks. Email us for more info.
I did send email but never heard back.
Make sure to email support@whipplesuperchargers.com and we'll get right back to you!
Sold!!
So dope
What rear gearing would you prefer for a supercharger? Also, I have heard some not so good reviews of the 10-speed automatic. How did you guys tackle this with the Whipple Calibration tool?
3.55
Thanks. That is what I figured.
If you have bigger wheels/tires, then 3.73 would be ideal. If you go as big as 35" range, 4.56 makes these accelerate like a rocket. With multiple overspeed gears, shorter gear ratios are ideal for performance.
Incredible power! Can you buy the kit and warranty and install yourself or do you need to pay to get someone install it to get the warranty?
The kit has to be installed by a Whipple or Ford dealer to take advantage of the power-train warranty.
What would this truck be capable of making on E-85? What additional fuel upgrades? Do you offer a E-85 tune with this that would also support off-road Y-Pipe and long tube headers.
We don't support E85 on the F150 due to fuel flow capacity, but one could put a updated fuel system in and turn up the power. I can tell you its 125RWHP gain with E85 at the same pulley if you maximize spark and fueling. This engine picks up incredible power. There's more to be had, but that's comparing same boost, same SC pulley, just different fuel and timing, quite remarkable. The same engine in the Mustang is making 1000RWHP on E85, stock engine.
curious why the Hennessy f150 made 60rwhp less than this and it's the same kit. Whipple do you supply the tuning for the hennessy kit?
Michael Malloy might have been a Stage 1, possibly different dyno gear. These make far more than this if they ran 1:1 gear, further away and the lower the dyno reads. Also keep in mind, adding big wheels/tires add to the loss due to extra weight/inertia
@@WhippleSuperchargers thank you for the feedback. i will be ordering soon. also i am a 14yr Mercedes benz master tech currently working in a dealership. if i install the kit myself is the warranty still available?
The motor pretty stable at higher rpms with fuel stability?
Very stable, same cam lobe, springs, retainers, etc as the 2018 Mustang which as stock, revs to 7500RPM. We keep it lower for towing capacity safety.
Whipple Superchargers thank you appreciate the feedback back
Can the 4WD system handle that power? If so, can you launch in 4WD without problems?
It can to a certain extent. It's not best to daily launch, but occasional 4wd launches are certainly possible.
Hello! I have a 2016 F-150 Tuscany Black Ops/Shelby Supercharged edition, so assuming it has the Stage 1 version of the Whipple SC kit. Can you confirm that the only difference between the Stage 1 and 2 is the Roval 132mm billet throttle body vs the stock 80mm throttle body? I'm assuming mine is the 80mm unless the Shelby conversion at Tuscany put in something larger?
I would like to make more horsepower so I'm considering that modification. Also, can you advise what size of 6-rib pulley is in the Stage 1 and Stage 2 kits? What size could I safely go for more boost? I believe since I have the 4A/4H/4L version of the truck with large wheels, I'm experiencing massive parasitic loss. The HP/TQ curves look smooth as butter across the RPM bands but the power is not what I was hoping for (524rwhp/465rwtq). Thanks in advance for your response and keep up the great work!
Any response here please?
Whipple Superchargers - can you please respond? Seems everyone else is getting a response but me. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
@@LostHongshan
Dang, that's rather odd considering all the other replies on here!!!
Have you figured it out yet my man!?
Have you tried emailing whipple directly and or calling them!?!?
Good luck with everything!!!
any plans in the works for a system for the 3.7litre v6 cyclone crowd?
At this point no, we've got a few more kits coming so this year's plans are booked.
Holy hell! that thing is making way better gains than a 2018 gm 5.3. Any ideas as to why that is?
DOHC engine
Riley Carnes 12psi vs 7psi
whats the 5.3 revving to?
The graphs i have seen, around 5700
DOHC and very high flowing heads. The 4 cams allows us to lower compression and the heads/combustion chamber work very well at high compression. The GM's are fuel limited normally and have a much shorter RPM band limiting HP.
That settles it. Time to start saving up. My stock (well pedal lag fix on the way) 6.2l denali is my daily driver, what might this do to my gas mileage when driven as normal as usual to prior to install?
phases78 highway is typically unaffected, towing usually increases while city can suffer some, on average 1-2mpg lower is standard but this depends on your driving habits.
Whipple Superchargers could be worse! I'm not an aggressive driver generally.. just want the power when I need it. :D or is that what we all say heh
Whipple Superchargers would you be so kind as to relocate to Nashville? 31 hours is a long way to daydream about going for an install I would trust. Thanks!
We would certainly love to leave CA for TN but that's a tough move!
Whipple Superchargers I have a truck if you need help!
Any recommended supporting international mods?
No internal mods needed, just bolt on and go!
Where can I find in Canada and cost?
Does whipple offer a kit for the 5.7 Tundra?
Coming very soon!
Does this supercharge fit my 2017 f150?
Very similar version, but the manifold and calibration is slightly different.
@whipple. Is the install included in the price?
Sorry, no, installation is added on top of the system price.
Any idea what this would run in the 1/4 mile?
Launching in 4wd, a crew cab can run mid 13's on stock wheels/tires. Slicks and other mods can help easily get into the 12's. Some have taken these on E85 to the 10's already!
Is the top speed limited only to 120?
125MPH is the max speed for factory tires and drive shaft.
@@WhippleSuperchargers if i where to want to go faster than 150 what would i have to do just driveshaft?
The trucks have a lot of lift, drive shaft is the first safety concern, tires would be next, then stability due to the lift at high speeds. We have never tested at those speeds to have full data, but its more than just the drive shaft.
@@WhippleSuperchargers but the top speed stops at 120?
The limit is 125mph.
is there anythibg else done to the truck? are kits available?
Rc Sask nope, this is 100% stock, even stock mufflers.
Whipple Superchargers was that with 91 or 93 octane fuel?
91 octane fuel and 93 was tested on same vehicle, it made the same power.
Just bought a new 2018 with the 5.0.
Can you recommend any shops in central California that can do a quality install of the Whipple?
CBM Motorsports
How much for that whole setup installed?
Kits start at $7600 and have multiple options. As tested, that was $8200 msrp for the stage 2 setup. Installation varies from dealer to dealer.
@@WhippleSuperchargers need that ASAP
12.5k all in from lebanon performance.
By the end of the video a quart of oil needs to be add to the coiote
Looking at getting one for my 2018 5.0 2wd but can anyone tell me the benefits of the whipple over the roush kit? I know I heard if I go with roush I won't void my ford warranty. IDK. Any input would be appreciated thx
Our Stage 1 kit makes 75HP more (725hp vs 650hp with less boost), is cheaper ($7600 vs $7799.99), is available now vs next month, ours is 50-state legal, Roush is not. ANY change to the engine voids factory powertrain warranty. We offer a 3/36,000 as does Roush so that's the same. Ours is upgradable to 775HP (125 over Roush) Stage 2, still 50-state legal. Our installation is over 4 hours less time, we DO NOT GRIND the block like Roush (significant grinding required for belt system), we include all plug and play connectors, no pulling pins. Roush requires a SENT adapter to make the GM throttle body work, ours works with stock or our 132mm billet throttle body with factory electronics.
Whipple for the win
We have a 2018 Ford F-150 special edition fx4 5.0 v8 do you think maybe we could workout some kind of sponsorship I could bring the truck to y’all from fl and we could make some videos
Main Street Customs 33513 in your dreams haha
So thats 22% drivetrain loss..
That's what the stock truck showed, 22% loss with stock wheels/tires. That number goes up with larger wheel/tires.
Whipple Superchargers how much hp will the new gen4 make with 1psi of more boost
Stock internals won’t last long I think
Matthew Nelson so how does a stock mustang with a 5.0 last long
We offer a 3 year/36,000 mile powertrain warranty so were confident in the stock powertrain living. We make insane power, but were still conservative enough to not consistently fail the powertrain.
Gen 3 5.0 is proven to be reliable at 800rwhp in stock form.
2016 and newer Coyote engine come with forged internals from the factory. It's a pretty durable engine.

Very surprisingly very strong engines indeed!!!!!! Seen one take brutal 100-250shots of nitrous for weeks and now months!!! So I guess time will tell....
The only thing I hate about superchargers is that loud whining noise.
