I understand why the US military never fully adopted the OICW, as it was pretty bulky and cumbersome... but man I wish more games had it in them! This one, a couple of the old Delta Force and Tom Clancy games are the only ones I ever played with this unique rifle. Great vids m9 +1 sub

The nostalgia blast from the past ! Apart from the graphic which looked very impressive for its time, I couldn't forgot how mind blowing the sound design and the weapon showcase was as well. Cry engine by Crytek is one of the best graphical engine and Far Cry 1 is one of my favourite PC FPS ever !
Oh yeah, the game where it's impossible to stealth because the guards and mutants spot from 100 meters away. Oh and those guys with rocket launcher arms.

A game that really beats you. 😂😂😂
It’s what I kinda find funny about the game, no stealth, just plain attack to let everyone know that you are there.
But you can hide in bushes to avoid getting spottet, and enemies can’t see you through walls. If they spot you, they then know where you might be, not where you fully are. That’s what I like about that Far Cry, it was ahead of its time, heck not many games has features like hide in bushes.

If you are trying this game out today, i'd like to mention that you dont get the latest patch, play the original build, the latest patch absolutely breaks the AI and does what you described, that and X-ray vision. Just a heads up for those who didn't know :)
My favourite FPS game, right next to Halo and Half-Life :)

Interesting how shooters in the early 2000's had to have an OICW to them. Even HL2 before it got canned in favor of the AR2.

strange that the m249 is using same ammo as m4a1. so it's technicly another rifle.
+lukkasz323 You mixed M249 with M240. M249 uses 5,56x45 mm ammo which is the same as in M4/M16 series. Unique design also allows you to even use the rifle mags from those guns in an emergency. M240 on the other hand is 7,62 mm.

I know what you mean man. They are fast and snappy. I remember how soc and cop had different animations, so I had to utilize them a bit differently

The M4A1 even sounds the same as its CS 1.6 counterpart for the reload sounds.

I'm pretty sure that the design was mostly based on the Car-15,a carbine that armed many U.S soldiers.Along with the m16,this served in Vietnam,so the Car-15 is actually more close to resembling the M4A1.

the Desert Eagle is in every far cry game, but the P90, Jackhammer, M4A1, OICW, G36, AW-50, and the RLX-9157 are only in this game

Deagles and SPAS12's are the guns that really... Hit the sweet spots.
It needed better weapons in this game due to fighting stronger enemies in the game. ( mutants & trigens )

You can thank Far Cry 2’s consolization for that. Same reason why lean and prone are gone.

Jamming wasn't there because jamming is just a waste of time. If guns were actually a resource you needed to manage and not something you can get in unlimited quantities for free with the only thing stopping you being your own patience, then Far Cry 2's jamming animations would serve an actual purpose.

Did a bit of a double take seeing the P90 ejecting bullet casings from the rear of the magazine rather than downward out of the bottom of the gun like the real P90.
