He is, The Doctor. For decades he’s entertained us. Mac’s the consummate musician/songwriter, propagating ‘NewOrkeans lifestyle, through his musical vision. Longtime admirer of his music & quirky character. Your music still inspires. Love to you, JaneR
RIP MAC REBENNACK Dr. John was a musician's musician. One of the best of all time. He exuded the heartbeat of this mortal coil and provided a stained glass window to the human soul. Playing his music loud today in tribute.
I visited New Orleans for the first time in 07 and I had no fucking clue about it’s beauty! It was a still very sore from Cunt-Trina! Got a room on the outskirts of town in St Bernard parish, down from the lower 9th. Bad sight to see, but the humor and “ fuck it attitude” I encountered from the locals was so captivating! Friendly, strong and positive folks man! I asked the clerk if there was a last call time at Bourbon and he replied: “yeah! Whenever Jesus Comes Back!” 😂😂😂 I fucking moved here 5 years later and I don’t plan to ever move out! Anyway, Professor Longhair, Dr John, Louis Armstrong and Kermit Ruffins (which I had the pleasure to have a beer with at the Mother in law’s lounge) are the artists that made me understand a bit more what this place is all about. Rip Doc! Thank you!
Blacksmith Shop, Favorite Bar, Dr. John and Neville Brothers, favorite Nola Musicians, lotsa check marks... I know what it means to miss New Orleans...
I found this cassette in 93. I was just trying to get myself a musical perspective as I was getting better and doing live gigs in a Zappaesque original band. This just hit me right. T.Y. Dr John. I met the metor-conga man Cyril neville in 96.
@gigi504ever I have never seen Mac fail to give credit to the Professor. As a matter of fact, a hell of a lot of us who weren't lucky enough to grow up in NOLA first went looking for Professor Longhair records _because_ Dr. John pointed us that direction.
Like 1920,s jazz greats slim Harpo jelly roll Morton and lead belly live your robust voice whiskey and cigarettes reminiscent of Louie prima and Louie Armstrong.
What a cooking band. And Dr. John and his piano and his voice are completely at home with this style. Great listening. And is that Pete Fountain on the clarinet towards the end?

Why are there women sitting in the club in their bras?
I really wish they would put that sax solo back in. I always loved it, and it does not speak well that they mixed it out. Very bad.
Edited out, this the short version
