That’s my grandfather, Eddie Freche, slamming the white guitar and jamming with Charles at the end. Amazing to see family that I never got to meet. Rip grandpa and to the passed nevilles. Jam forever and RIP
I want you to know that I went to every New Orleans show of every version of the Neville Brothers from 1986-2015 and I knew your grandfather. He was a humble, grateful and very sweet man. We had some great times together. I love& miss him. A member of one of the greatest bands of all time.
@@christopherchandler2570 There was another performance on which this string started with different players, and it wasn't Mr. Stoltz holding down the lead guitar role. Brian was obviously the player in this video, but I believe it was a different guy, maybe the above referenced Eddie Freche.....but it sure wasn't Stoltz.
March 7th, 1999. My wife and I bring our daughter to the anniversary concert celebrating that Baton Rouge is 300 years old as a city. The concert is held next to the Mississippi River in the warm night. I have our six-month baby on my shoulders. We listen and dance to the Neville Brothers performing "Yellow Moon". This is one of the happiest family moments ever. We also listen to Kool and the Gang that evening.
I already told my family that when I die, please throw a party as hopefully I'll be traveling home to the Lord, and play me on out with this music, the Neville Bros (may they RIP), Trombone Shorty, Jon Batiste, etc. In other words, a New Orleans style funeral and be happy for me!
Using my wife's (legacy)phone phone to search for Neville's music to replace lost treasures, and clumsy fingers brought me to this recording that tied major chunks of life in sound. Yellow Moon was released in time to guide me through the passing of my father, and tonight to find that it was written by John Hyatt, another crutch when grief seemed to be the norm, and his album, " Bring the Family", with Nick Lowe, who introduced me to English rockabilly, and Ry Cooder who thanks to a friends mom finishing her doctorates, and seeking a life, sent a group of us to see the first mind opening concert of my life. Life is not just a circle, but circles and chains that tie, I miss my wife who could graff all this and show you in a sweater. With apologies, G Bowders, old white man
I keep coming back, listening, enjoying and thinking how lucky I am to have lived in a world with musicians like these who deserve all the praise and remain permanently in the music world.... Thank you so much Neville Brothers!!!!!
22 years with this song (I still keep the original cassette, the album yellow moon, that I bought in 1989!) and it's still shining like a bright moon light!
just heard this song for the very first time on xm radio, in my truck, today! i had to stop, pull over, write myself a note to find this and play it for the hubby, he too will love it!
Oh yellow moon why you keep peeping in my window ? Do you know something I don't know ? Have you seen my baby ? Walking down the railroad tracks ? You can tell me if the girl's ever coming back ? Is she hid out with another ? or is she trying to get back home ? Is she wrapped up in some other arms ? Or is the girl somewhere all alone ? Can you see if she is missing me ? or is she having a real good time ? Has she forgotten all about me ? or is the girl still mine all mine ? With your eye so big and shiney You can see the whole damn land Yellow moon can you tell me ? If the girl's with another man ? Oh yellow moon Can you see that creole woman ? You can tell me Now ain't you a friend of mine ?
chords: key of Gm: basic verse is Gm to D7, then from D7 to Cm, back to D7, then Gm. Bridge: walk up from Gm to relative major A#, then back. 2nd time go from A# to Am, hold, then descend back to Gm. Simple, and very Nawlins moves. HTH
I used to have a crush on Aron Neville, thank goodness he didn't notice that ;) What a gobsmacker that John Hiatt is jamming with the Nevilles there xxx
Back in the days. Funk was born,a very long time ago, in New Orleans. And still live there today . Thank you to the eternal flame of Neville Brothers. True music never dies ! KEEP THE FUNK ALIVE!!
The version on the "live from planet earth' is so much better...not a bad version here, just this other version is mindblowingly crisp. One of my all time favs now.
it says you asked this yesterday? or was that in february...regardless, i'd look online for that CD and buy it. I didn't see that version on youtube, i searched for it. good luck!
I love this. Exceptional. My only concern -- I love me some John Hiatt, but really now -- who would want to trade vocal verses with Aaron Neville? Not me!
Always sat up front at concerts and got to see what a warm beautiful smile and personality Charles had. He just bathed the entire audience in his love. Like someone said, "An insane amount of talent in their family!" They stayed after the show to greet certain guests up close. One young man was in a wheelchair and like me won't forget the experience. When I (shyly) told Aaron he was the most sexy , exciting man on the planet and reached out for a handshake, he said, "Don't you want a hug?" I'm lucky I didn't pass out...but then I was smart enough to kiss his cheek , too. Such generous, lovely, exciting men. "Yellow Moon" and "That's the Way She Loves" are my top 2 favorites.
R.I.P. Art Neville. Love the album Brother's Keeper (1990). I remember my youth with these kind of Neville songs. Thank you for all, this music affected my life.
No body can rock a song out . Like the Neville Brothers . I love all their songs . Best singers and instrument players there is . Lord Bless All Of You .
After all these years, I still believe, that this is the best performance of The Neville Brothers and friends ever. The original TV special was amazing and captured the feeling of this special night. I would love to own this again, but now on 4K Ultra HD blu ray with Dolby Atmos. This performance screams for a remaster on a modern format. VHS and cassette do not cut it anymore.
Willie Green III had the best Snare Drum SOUND in human history on this damn gig +his take on calypso as in what he played on”My Blood”, etc…what a sicko/taste monger extraordinaire
I’ve been looking for this version forever. Had a laserdisc back in the 90’s for testing video set ups, but it wasn’t my property. Especially remember Ed Bradley dancing with the kid on his shoulders. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
I was at this show but I'm not sure exactly where it was House Of Blues? Was it Tips? I don't remember the tables..I Was There...but I have no idea where...or when exactly...RIP Brother Charles..
RIP Art I first saw fall 89 with the revived Funky Meters and then with the Neville Bros Easter Weekend 90 (RIP Charles) for the following four years in New Orleans schoolin I was blessed to be able to hear him live scores of times and his fellow bringer of funk piano beyond the parish line Dr John (rip) well it won't be long till we're mournin the loss of yet another conjurer of the nola piano lineage which includes so many masters Jelly Roll Tatum Prof Longhair James Booker et al rest easy Art you walked the walked And sang the good song word
I recently saw the Neville Brothers in concert in Florida. I really enjoyed seeing "Charles the Horn Man" doing sign language to Yellow Moon. I am curious to know how it is that he has taken the time to learn sign language. Does he have a hearing impaired family member? At any rate it was very interesting to watch. His fingers are long and slender, and his finger talk very graceful. Good job, Charles!
Yes! These guys are totally awesome!!! I remember seeing them live at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver about 15-20 yrs ago.... They were the best then; their music will last as long as people listen to music.....while the Planet survives! Gotta love Aaron's unique voice!
How much talent is on this stage? Every time the camera pans back I see another musician. I think I saw one of the extra cameramen jump on one of the keyboards on the right wing. The craziest part to this song that deserves a comment is the sheer number of beats. Each musician is playing their own syncopatic beat, on-rhythm, off-rhythm, side rhythm, made-up rhythm, whatever.
Oct 28 2023 I heard this song for the first time at Hulaween courtesy of String Cheese Incident... And just wanted to log that I will forever be a fan now. So good...

But this is Brian Stoltz on this show. Guest John Hiatt.

That is very cool....when I was in college ( and now) I thought Neville Brothers were as cool as they came, cool grand pa
They introduce the guitar player as Brian Stoltz....
The Neville Brothers are a national treasure! Long may they reign!
How can anybody give this a thumbs down? I just don't understand people. This is so much epic talent it's unreal. RIP Mr. Art
Could be the reason the sax and a guitar solo bit out of tune, and when the “ collective “ impro happening you get that cacophony......
the reason is easy
those thumbs down are guitar player which are hard try´in
:D
greetings from germany

no
the only one who is out of tune is you
I agree with you Rosa Parks was a great woman and they are basically honoring her work that she has done and then give video a thumbs down l
Stephanie Munoz I heard Aaron live one night and I could not fathom how incredible the sax could sound. I’ll never forget that as long as I live.
Aaron Neviile, doubtless one of the most expressive voices I've ever heard, ' Tell it like it is'!
Best chicken skin ever
Number one in my eyes and always will be God bless you Aaron. Kathy from Michigan
Yesss, it's true I love all his songs, I can listen to him all day long, love him and his songs
i agree

Something very special about The Neville Brothers.

The Neville Brothers were egregiously underrated. RIP Art and Charles.
Such feel good music in these uncertain times...long live the music of the Neville brothers!
The very best music. Wonderful have been fan for years and years, wonderful time just moving with song. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Yellow Moon is an amazing album.
This is just killer.

Wow!!! Herbie Hancock! Great band, brothers, music!! One of my all time favorite songs! These boys don't mess around!
John Hyatt also rocked. World class in this song ❤.

KEEP THE FUNK ALIVE!!
Well, James Brown may have something to say about that!
But I do love Nawlins funk more. The rhythm sections are a little bit better.
My favorite Neville Bros. song.
The version on the "live from planet earth' is so much better...not a bad version here, just this other version is mindblowingly crisp. One of my all time favs now.

Probably, the secret is in the sentence: "And the musical director of this show - Mr. Herbie Hancock".
Don't you just RUclips for this? I haven't heard this song in over 20 years...Lucky I found it again:)
If you ever get a chance to see these guys live, definitely do go see them. The Neville Brothers and John Hiatt also. It's just good music.
