Thing about the Moogle holograms, Jiminy's entry on the Moogles actually explains the reason Moogles set their stores in holograms is that they got tired of people ruffling their pompoms.
My favorite detail is how in timeless river it reverts everyone into their earliest appearance while representing it in their health portraits such as sora going back to his kh1 portrait
The masks that represent Sora's Drive Forms in Halloween Town are references to Final Fantasy. The Valor Form mask is an enemy from FF called "Bomb" and the Wisom Form mask is of the Black Mage character class.
2:08 Fun Fact about the watermelon. In Japan fruit is very overly priced and watermelon specifically there is priced to the equivalent of about 200 U.S. dollars. That's like 2 small statured HD TV'S. Watermelon is often used as a gift between high paid businessmen like how wine is here in the west. It's why Weener, Pants, and Omelette freak out that you got so much money. It's a cool little real world detail.
I think you made a little mistake. The one that expensive in Japan and what they like to give as gifts are Melon not Watermelon. You got the price right though. Melon is consider high class fruit and if they put it in wooden box is about 20000 yen (or 190$) for 1 box. They talk about watermelon here because that is popular summer fruits. Especially on hot day like summer, cold watermelon is better choice. If you watch enough Japanese Anime, you will see they used watermelon to play blindfold smash, on beach episode in summer. Do you think they will just play watermelon smash game if the watermelon is expensive? Here the kids group is still on summer vacation so, they think they can get a watermelon on the extra money.
Another cool detailed is that: *[FINAL FANTASY X SPOILERS]* In the credits with Olympus Colosseum, instead of returning to the Underworld, Auron turns into Pyreflies and is (most likely) sent to the Farplain or returned to Spira.
Probably not spira, since tidus, wakka and luna (as well as rikku and pain, but i choose to ignore FFX2😅) are all in the KH universe. Tidus and wakka are literally the first npcs you can talk to in KH1
Actually, the thing at 2:48 could be a reference to how Zexion as a nobody literally does not exist anymore. His entire essence was forcefully absorbed by a body that ended up being destroyed afterwards. The place is a representation of their current state considering the portal to roxas counts him as alive and is active, yet is missing a huge chunk that makes it impossible to use it(As roxas is fine, just that he lost his body due to merging it into soras body somehow)
While I like the idea, I doubt that was the point, since he technically shows death particles when being absorbed, and the rikuplika doesnt have like traits of zexion or anything, its not like he is in him. However this is really nice interpretation for sure, this is the type of stuff I like in kh tbh
My headcanon is that Zexion was the real traitor among the Castle Oblivion members and also like what he said before, he hasn't been seen with a weapon so they had make the fight in CoM GBA a cutscene instead like what they did with Sora vs Roxas in vanilla KH2. Not sure why tho.
With the Final Mix version introducing and updating Sora with his own Christmas outfit when he visits Christmas Town in Halloween Town, he also has his own set of outfit changes depending on the drive form that he’s in
Also, another cool detail to bring up, while in Space Paranoids, all the weapons get their own retexture in order to match up with the world. I think it also happens in worlds like Halloween Town, but it's more noticeable in SP.
Just for the sake of completion, they also change in timeless river, for that one colourblind person that only sees white and black and never knew (and they unfortunately don't in port royal)
One of the biggest details is everything surrounding Demnyx, from his mismatched eyes, to his "death scene" playing out completely differently to all the other members. In his "death", we see him vanish his weapon, and make it out to be serious before loudly announcing his demise and disappearing into a column of light, which shouldn't even be possible IF he's a Nobody. Which is bizarre because every other member, after being defeated, are clearly exhausted before expiring into darkness. Demnyx only draws attention to his weapon vanishing because You, the player, associate the vanishing weapon with their deaths.
3:35 WHAT Loved the video, as always. Can't be sure, but I think the party members turning around to face you is because less than a year after KH2 came out PS3 and XBOX 360 were released, and one of the things Sony and Microsoft did to market the step up in technology is that NPCs can turn their heads to follow the player, so maybe KH2 uses similar technology. it came out really late in the PS2's life after all 8:19 to contrast this magnet lasts longer in master form. maybe to make forms feel more different/useful in different ways
Yas! KH2's moment to shine! Love your vids, man! I like the way you narrate; feels like a chill dood talking about stuff he cares about, not forced at all like others I've seen.
Here's another one. Remember the scene in Port Royal where Pete tells the pirates to be careful around Soras (and Donalds) magic? That's a direct message to the player to use it against them since the damage is much higher and besides that they also get burnt by fire, frozen by ice and stunned by lightning.
I like the unicorn head mounted in the main foyer in the mansion, along with unicorn designs throughout. I have a small pet theory that the mansion might have been Ira's home at one point in time during or after union cross. I doubt that is the case, but its a fun idea to play with.
My favorite detail was that Auron appears in The Underworld because in FFX, the game that he's from, he was dead and unsent. I played FFX for the first time a few years ago and I got the idea when Seymour said he had the smell of death. When I thought about his placement in Kh2 it only made sense
In the Underworld in the Olympus Coliseum, the flying balls that give you MP are the Pyreflies from FFX. I didn't realize this until much latter after I first played the game.
KH3 just ruined the potentials of FF storylines, there were so many unfinished stories to cover from where they’ve stopped in KH2 and BBS, but they ended up ignoring them all
Y’know as clever as Kingdom Hearts can be with the use of it’s characters Square really missed an opportunity to have Seifer and Maleficent meet with each other, FF8 Veterans will know what I’m talking about.
@@totalradlad If you haven’t played FF8 Seifer becomes Sorceress Edea’s White Knight. Edea and Maleficent are somewhat similar. In KH1 she influenced Riku to give into the darkness.
I've been a die-hard fan of kingdom hearts since the beginning. However, I'm also not a very observant person. I didn't know half of these things. The Roxas into Sora scene blew me away.
The best detail I think about KH2 is the fact that the opening song Sanctuary is two songs in one. If you play it backwards its like Riku's perspective.
There are some cool details pertaining to Anti-Form. Anti-Form has a hidden growth ability called Anti-Glide but, it can't be leveled up since Anti-Form doesn't gain Exp. Anti-Form's different attacks also have names, despite the fact that there's no way to see In-game since Anti-Form doesn't show up alongside the other drive forms in the menu. Anti-Form Sora behaves, moves around, and attacks similarly to Shadows/Neoshadows. The orb of darkness that appears around Sora when transforming into Anti-Form and the orb he creates in his "Dark Void" attack, look awfully similar to the dark orb that appears when a Heartless spawns. (Ansem's dark orbs in kh3 also look similar. Some parts of Anti-Form are blue, like how a Neoshadow has blue veins on it's body. Anti-Form Sora also lacks a shadow. With Anti-Form, it really feels like Sora becomes like a Pureblood Heartless (Pureblood Heartless are usually born from hearts overcome with darkness, don't release a heart upon defeat, and don't have an emblem, while Emblem Heartless were created from experiments and naturally have the Heartless emblem) and is using dark power like one, with him having the same glowing yellow eyes, utterly immense and insane attacking and moving speed, behaving frantically, moving erratically, attacking savagely, and overall acting chaotically. Heck, one of his attacks is called "Chaos Finale". Even if Anti-Form is usually not ideal, I still think it's a cool form.
A cool detail I just realized while playing through critical mode for the first time. In the room Proof of Existence, the pipes along the wall jet out and converge at the exit, marked with Xemnas’ Roman numeral one. What’s interesting is unlike other pipes in the castle, these bear spikes, almost resembling tangling vines, subconsciously hinting at the danger to come, and being a cool reference to Xemnas’ ability to summon those whispy vine things in the final battle. I also think the World that Never Was is one of the coolest, if not the coolest world in the series. We don’t get to see much of it, or enter any of the buildings, however the state and existence of the world brings up a lot of questions. Despite the world being a city, there are no inhabitants or society besides the thirteen organization members. Did they build the city and the castle? If so, how? If not, who did? At the base of Memory Skyscraper you can see a crashed semi-truck. Why did it crash? For what reason did it exist? Who was driving it? To me this suggests the world did exist, however it met an apocalyptic end, perhaps indicated by the massive crater at the center of the world the castle hovers over. -Perhaps the castle was directly responsible for the world’s destruction ala Castle in the Sky. Some might this contradicts the name “The World that Never Was,” however imo that could just be a name and not carry such a literal meaning. Or perhaps it is meant to carry meaning, like perhaps this world was destined for something greater, to progress and grow, but because it was destroyed, it “never was” in a sense. Perhaps the world could have also come from the future; in that sense the phrase “never was” would still apply, in reference to the past. I could even see some people theorize the world to be Shibuya after a cataclysmic event, but I myself don’t believe that to be the case. Either way, the ambiguity of the world is what I love most about it. Was really disappointed KH3 didn’t bring it back and expand on it, (heck, was disappointed KH3 didn’t properly expand/bring back any original worlds in general.)
The masks for valor form and wisdom form are references to Final Fantasy, being the bomb enemy for valor and the black mage job for wisdom. The character Vivi is a black, you can see the resemblance there, in fact, the design of the shadow heartless themselves is based on the classic black mage design, just with the hat and coat removed.

Dude your videos are awesome man!! Super clean and concise! I’m starting to write more long form Kingdom Hearts videos and have to commend yours! Keep going man, love to see quality KH still being dropped on YT!!
Not much of a KHII thing, but as an ancient weaponry nerd, I appreciate very much that a lot of the Org. XIII's weapons are based in real-life weapons or objects that have their specific names pointed out in game. The Eternal Flames aren't just disks, they're chakrams. The Lunatic isn't just a big sword, it's a claymore. Zexion doesn't use a spell book or whatever, it's a lexicon. And the Arpeggio isn't just a guitar, or a generic instrument, it's a sitar.
Oh wow, I didn’t actually realize most of these. I forgot how secret Zexion’s weapon was when KH2 was released. When did we finally learn that? Was it in ReCoM?
One detail I liked that I was hoping came up with the Moogle names was that two shopkeepers, one in Twilight Town and the other being one of the shops not being run but the duck triplets in Hallow Bastion and , are named Biggs and Wedge, which is a long-running Final Fantasy gag that's a reference to two of Luke Skywalker's pilot friends in Star Wars. Furthermore, the female shopkeeper in Twilight Town (which Data Hayner even teases Roxas about in the first day when he has a picture with her) is called Jessie, their third partner in FF7. And of course, all three of them made a big damn return with Final Fantasy VII Remake recently. Its something I only noticed years later after playing KH2, but I thought it was a reallt cool touch to add a FF reference of that level. Especially since I'm also a Star Wars fan.
Zexion was never meant to be a boss fight in COM and 2. Nomura originally planned it that way and eventually realized that he and his weapon were to show up in the proof of existence as destroyed, so the cover up was his way of getting around that little detail. Then in Re:Com and KH2FM for PS2 he decided to add the Zexion fight anyway and included those features in both games, as they were released at about the same time frame. In COM, Riku uses the darkness to pierce through the "light" to find Zexion and then slices through Zexion with no fight... This is why you can't lose D-Form in Re:COM in the Riku vs Zexion fight--to maintain consistency with the original scene.
i actually didn't know about Sora/Roxas at the window :3 so that's pretty cool! also the hidden Mickey's was one i never knew. it's also possible that the reason the Lexicon is destroyed is because Zexion was the 'true' traitor and conspirator of CoM if i recall.
Only after picking up and trying Final Fantasy 7 did I realize that the room with the Organization's portal and names is similar to the entrance to Jenova! Specifically Xemnas' door. I was like heyyy!!
honestly would love to have a deck of playing cards designed after Luxord's cards, fun fact about Luxord for anyone that has seen Babylon 5, he is voiced by Byron at least in 3
wait.... You get some experience for beating Seifer. Can you repeat this and if so has someone done the whole "max level in the prologue" challenge with it
If it makes you feel any better about being blind to the Moogle holograms, I legit never noticed the Moogle stores had individual names until this video
In the moogle thing you gotta think KHs world is based in science. The antagonist are scientist, Mickey is a student of both magic and science, the resistance team, Leon and CID both seem to have programming knowledge, and finally the MoM is a scientist
Son of a... Last time I restarted kh2 I swore I had more AP after Foxes normally! Gotta remember that next speedrun attempt. It may delay a little bit it really helps...

The Lunatic isn't just a big sword, it's a claymore. Zexion doesn't use a spell book or whatever, it's a lexicon. And the Arpeggio isn't just a guitar, or a generic instrument, it's a sitar.
A claymore literally is a big sword, lol.
I never knew there was an organization Roxas in the opening at 5:50 wow. Incredibly detailed wow.
WHAT. THE LETTER WAS FROM RINOA. omggg
Oh wow, I didn’t actually realize most of these. I forgot how secret Zexion’s weapon was when KH2 was released. When did we finally learn that? Was it in ReCoM?
I think it was technically in kh2fm first but it's been years lol
@@KingdomHeart556 kh2fm and recom were packaged together
Lol yesterday I saw the video of the kingdom hearts 1.5 details, and today this video niceeeee
I love this videos
i actually didn't know about Sora/Roxas at the window :3 so that's pretty cool! also the hidden Mickey's was one i never knew. it's also possible that the reason the Lexicon is destroyed is because Zexion was the 'true' traitor and conspirator of CoM if i recall.
7:07 I like how with all of those forms sora only has one eye visible
I didn't know you could go fight seifer in the alley, I never even tried leaving the sandlot during that portion of the game
Through all the years I’ve played KH2 I never knew you could fight Seifer in the alley
Only after picking up and trying Final Fantasy 7 did I realize that the room with the Organization's portal and names is similar to the entrance to Jenova! Specifically Xemnas' door. I was like heyyy!!
Man, im a big fan of your vídeos, um Brazilian and my english is very awful but i make some effort to watch you, great video
salve

Why is Zexion’s grave shattered and not the others? It’s not like his weapon is the Book of Prophecies or anything. Or is that the point?
He literally explained that in the video.
The moogles mentioned they switched to holograms because they got annoyed that people would touch their pom poms.
É incrível os detalhes que você nos apresenta ótimo trabalho rapaz :)
The “Mage-looking Heartless” on Halloween Town Wisdom Sora’s mask is actually the Black Mage from Final Fantasy.
you can brawl with seifer in the sandlot as roxas again. I forgot when but i remember it was after the struggle battles
Mine is Anti form hanging on the ledge. Kinda creepy but cool.
This gamesplay gives me so must nostalgia 😩
I just realized that TWTNW has the same font as The World Ends With You
I knew about the hologram moggle a d I found out 3 months ago and I didnt know that the different moggle shop have names
honestly would love to have a deck of playing cards designed after Luxord's cards, fun fact about Luxord for anyone that has seen Babylon 5, he is voiced by Byron at least in 3
wait.... You get some experience for beating Seifer. Can you repeat this and if so has someone done the whole "max level in the prologue" challenge with it
Well someone leveled up to lvl 99 in the prologue.
He streamed it on twitch and it took something like 450 hours to do.
If it makes you feel any better about being blind to the Moogle holograms, I legit never noticed the Moogle stores had individual names until this video
My favorite thing about kh2 is the battles and music.
thanks for another great video
In the moogle thing you gotta think KHs world is based in science. The antagonist are scientist, Mickey is a student of both magic and science, the resistance team, Leon and CID both seem to have programming knowledge, and finally the MoM is a scientist
After 10+ years of playing this game, I never knew you could fight seifer in the back alley, goddamn lol
I've been playing kh2 on and off since I was 8 and I NEVER knew anti form hangs from ledges with his foot. Thats pretty sick.
Am i mistaken that the Masks in Halloween town were Added to the Final Mix version?
The only new one was limit's mask
My favourite detail is in the World that Never Was on the right side of the skyscraper. I would explain it but im lazy.
Can someone explain this will drive me nuts lol
:)
please explain
Wow I actually never noticed the org coat for roxas thing and I've played this game oodles of times
You should listen to the Utada Song, sanctuary, backwards 😏
Son of a... Last time I restarted kh2 I swore I had more AP after Foxes normally! Gotta remember that next speedrun attempt. It may delay a little bit it really helps...
I wonder if the Ghost Train in Twilight Town was based off the same one from Final Fantasy VI.
