@@spideyfan1278 yeah I didn’t get how that made it to production, having her play two different parts like that. Probably super confusing for people who haven’t seen recent sequels. Her face kinda looks like her dad, but her frame just didn’t look like a man. And her playing this other character who’s possessed by Chucky some of the time, that’s when it jumped the shark.
@@spideyfan1278 are you stupid? She is the spitting image of charles lee ray in his younger days, the resemblance is uncanny. No one could of done it better
@@reyedwards5223 yeah i agree, as much as love the scream franchise. the way they went about it got really boring fast. I just glad chucky kept true to original format from 80s
I do agree about Andy though. I feel like since Mancini brought Alex Vincent back into the series that he has been very underutilized. It's almost as if he brought Alex Vincent back for fan service and hasn't known what to do with the character of Andy at all.
I love that good or bad, each movie over 30 years contributed to the whole Chucky story. A lot of horror film series ignore certain movies or retcons other parts. “Chucky” did a really good job of threading together so many different aspects in a way that makes sense. I’d love to see more backstory between him and Eddie Cuputo. He had a significant part in the first movie, yet they didn’t really show any more of their relationship beyond how they met.
I loved the first season even with its flaws . I also feel like they did Nica dirty in the finale by making her a full amputee just so she couldn’t fight back or escape on her own .
They really did her dirty it feels like such a disservice to an amazing Character, hopefully they can save it in S2 maybe make that part her nightmare or make her a doll or something but yeah they did her dirty
4/5 for me. Totally agree that the finale probably left more questions than I would've liked but overall I got everything I wanted out of Chucky, from his humour, to one liners to kills. Very much looking forward to Season 2 and even if it doesn't make a season 3, can always get another movie to tie things up further down the line. Fiona Douriff is an absolute star.
My issues with Season One: 1. The voice over for Tiffany in the flashbacks 2. Why was Charles called The Lakeshore Strangler if all he did was stab his victims? 3. Nica. 4. Andy and Kyle's acting. 5. Plotholes
Answer for 2. He was always "the lake shore strangler" since the 1st childs play movie. Before he became "chucky" he performed a series of ritual voodoo killings in the Chicago area. Alot of those killings resulted in strangulation. Which is why he was dubbed "lake shore strangler". Even in child's play 3 chucky says after a kill "just like the good old days, nothing like a strangulation to get the circulation going". Hope this helps.
@@keithnayo4582 I see what you mean. The tv series should have shown him do a couple of strangulation killings. Flashbacks aside, his character (off screen) killed alot of people that way, they definitely dropped the ball on that one and should have shown him do a couple of kills that way.
Devin’s mom’s death should have been in the finale possibly with her triggering the bomb after Kyle or Andy saved him. That could have been a nice plot thread to deal with in a season 2.
Really tho , Fiona is to good of an actress to just get thrown away, I was really looking forward to seeing her as Nica finally out of the asylum but nope, she gets no legs and arms, and junior. Tbh he probably had one of the best character arcs out of all the characters of the show. Even the actor did a pretty solid job as him but they killed him off, they should have focused more on his character than jakes tbh and like you said they were done so dirty
This this this I’m hoping the see the majority of people feel the same way about Nica so make it so that part was a dream or she becomes a doll in S2, I felt like Junior i felt was a bit rushed he was getting there with the character development then dead, I think he should have killed Lexi and he should have lived into season 2 but I’ll never shut up about Nica like what a disservice
I think with Lexi they should have done what they did with Cordelia from Buffy the vampire slayer. Where she was a complete mean girl in the beginning then it went to she was that way at times but at the end became a character who worked with the good guys while still having that mean girl charm with her.
Each week I had nothing to say but huge positives every episode. Days later my feelings are the same, this show was incredible and one of the best things to happen for this franchise! The setup for season 2 alone is gripping. Counting down the days until the return to Hackensack....or wherever Chucky goes
I watched the last episode earlier and I loved this first season. There were some great plot twist and character arcs. Some great Kills and a perfect balance of cheese and camp.
No we don't. There needs to be a balance to enjoy when chunky on screen. I've seen people with this take but you're the same type of people to get what you want and hate it.
I overall loved the first season, and for the most part I agree with this review. I actually liked the Lexi transition, but I thought that arc and the season as a whole suffered from one problem: 10 episodes worth of content in 8 episodes. It felt like the storylines with all the parents and with Andy and Kyle were a little rushed, like an episode was missing. I think if they'd had one or two additional episodes it would've fixed alot of problems. That all said, can't wait for season 2 and highly recommend this show!
By far the best thing about this show is chucky. Everything else seemed to be held down by the writing and some character decisions. (6/10) the first 4-5 episodes had me hooked. After the first half of the show, it almost seemed to lose itself. The last half of episodes had great and cool moments but as a whole they felt very underwhelming. The finale holds this series down sadly as it felt disappointing. (Who knows if it is the budget that restrained them for going all out, or if it was still the writing). Sadly, the major blow to this show is the constant cucking to its audience. They leave areas and mysteries to become great story elements just to give them a dumb explanation or shitty ending. In the end, I enjoyed the show for the most part and was entertained. Claiming this as anything greater is sort of wrong.
I think its a terrible show but thanks to my love for Chucky since i was a kid i can enjoy it. But if it comes to characters, acting, story etc its like a bad 90’s show.
Curse of Chucky was the first horror movie I ever watched. Crazy after 30 years since the first Child’s Play came out and these movies are turning people on to the horror Genre.
In my opinion, the limited number of episodes, and mixing the past with present characters really put the tv-series in a very limited spot. I want to see more of new characters, their stories... bringing and connecting dots from the past didn't give more footage to new characters, and therefore, I kind of feel dissatisfied too. But, still love anything Chucky! :)
Honestly, this show was awesome. I was hoping it be good but when it comes to sci fy I am always skeptical especially in the budget department. Chucky imo got the budget so I was happy with that. The only issue I had honestly was in the last episode. To those who haven’t seen it please dont read past this as it is a spoiler from the episode: the issue I had was them doing nica wrong by having her without arms and her legs. I feel she has been through so much she deserves a break.
I though the arms were a little much on tiff’s part. If she had only taken her legs it wouldn’t have been that bad considering nica never really got much use out of them and a leg less chucky can’t do much to her.
The show was a great suprise. Expectations were not low but not high, but it easily exceeded them. The stabbing that cucky did looked bad sometimes the way it was puppeteer, but for the most part, it looked great, Chucky was great, and characters are great for the most part. Love Devon Sawa. I'm glad he has been in every season even though he hasn't made it out alive yet
Hopefully Season 2 has less flashbacks I didn't like they retcon why Chucky was running from the cops in beginning of Child's Play in the finale and I hope Tiffany is taken a little more seriously cause she just serve as a comic relief overall it was a good season there's some inconsistencies and a lot of moments that don't look or sound right hopefully season 2 we have more characters from the franchise return like Andy mother or maybe Jesse and Jade or Andy girlfriend from Child's Play 3 return somehow.
From a scale of 1-10 I'd give this a 6.5/10 Positives: Chucky, His design arguably the best design we have gotten since Bride, his personality is also a major step up from Cult in terms of delivery and one liners. The main character, Jake I really enjoyed his character he's not on par with Nica though but he's Growing on me. Negatives: there was a lot of inconsistencies in the show, the ending episode was pretty mid and lexi's "redemption arc" was rushed and silly. I wouldn't have minded it much if they didn't make her so unbearable in the beginning of the season, Tiffany also seemed like a parody of herself which is sad to see since she was so prominent in Bride of Chucky, I also had a problem with how little we got to see of the Legacy characters (Andy, Kyle, Nica) i was really looking forward to learning more about Kyle's life after CP2 this season but we didn't get much. Hope that they give the Legacy characters more screen time next season, the new cast can be built upon later.
They started with a steady slow progress and then slammed us with a lot...maybe too much toward the end. It's no excuse but I think some of the opened endings [Andy on road, uncertain of Kyle's death, randomly Fairchild being around the end] are because Don wasn't sure if he was going to get a season 2 or go back to movies.
I have a feeling Brad Dourif had a say in Charles Lee Ray's backstory. If Don Mancini made a terrible back story for Charles Lee Ray or tried to make him sympathetic I think Brad Dourif would of gotten pissed off. I just can't see Brad Dourif letting Mancini sabotage a character Brad spent over 30 years making iconic.
i was shocked when Cody said “Bree” 😂😂😂😂😂 but this season made me love Curse/Cult .. A LOT… it wasn’t my fave season but i feel like if it two can do the same as this, make things before it better while doing the best Chucky things, i’ll be happy.
Fiona Dorf was FANTASTIC!! Hated what happened ti Nica though. I hope it doesnt take away from what she can do. Was pleasantly surprised with this show.
I adored this show. The story was classic Child’s Play (with unique twists). Sure, some of the acting was iffy at times, there were some plot holes, and the voice dubbing with flashbacks wasn’t great, but I highly enjoyed this show. 8.5/10.
@@jagshe1829 Like how Tiffany was somehow working with Mike Norris behind Chucky’s back. That made no sense because I’m pretty sure Nica’s mother sold Chucky out.
@@adalynnshorrorworld2242 Nica’s mom was tired up so it doesn’t make sense that she would call the cops anyways, that’s not a retcon it’s just expansion on the story
More or less agreed. I seriously thought Junior should have had more to do... in fact, whatever happened to the rivalry between him and Jake? I mean, they never explained his hostility towards him in the first few episodes, then he asks Lexie to go easy on him, then he blames his mom's death on him... and then, nothing. I mean, what if the two had a showdown and Jake tries to snap Junior out of Chucky's influence? Or Junior reveals he knew Chucky killed his mom and the others, but doesn't care because he finally feels comfortable with himself (showing how much he's lost it). ... and also, when he saw Chucky sneaking around at the hospital... Not only did that go nowhere... it made no sense. I mean, let's say if we had two Chucky's, right? One at the house, and we find out there's one at the hospital. Jake and Lexie manage to kill the melted Chucky, but they get back to the hospital and see the dead detective and a perfectly fine doll sitting on the table smiling at them as it flips them off.
I loved the show. My biggest gripe is actually the 'logo'. The one with all the characters and Chucky's reflection in the knife. I can't unsee a buzz cut white haired Chucky in that image, from the moment I saw it.
I know it’s always a little cringey to do this, but unfortunately I don’t have many alternatives to get our channel out there. That being said, if you are interested in hearing some contradicting thoughts on the Chucky TV series, give our newest video a watch. Thank you in advance!
As a big fan of the series, I really enjoyed the show overall. Though, I fully agree that was a very anti-climatic ending. Especially since it seems that they weren't sure that there was going to be a second season when they wrapped.
When I first saw the previews for this new show I thought it wasn't going to be as entertaining as the movies with all of these unknown characters but that wasn't the case. I went from being disgusted by Lexi and her actions to her being one of my favorite characters on the show.
I would give the show a 7/10 overall. The last couple episodes kinda brought the grade down a little but still a great show, way better than it had any business being. What bugged me was how easily Chucky died in the last episode. A stab wound and being chocked to death really?? Remember how hard it was to kill him in the first couple movies? They completely dropped that “shoot him in the heart” is the only was to kill him shit. It makes all the original characters look weak and stupid if all it took was a 13 year old kid to pin him to a wall and strangle his eyes out🙄. Also next I hope we don’t follow the same main cast of characters around. It should be focused on Andy, Nika and the new ppl who will get a Chucky doll.
I was honestly thinking and came up with an idea that would be great. Basically the more he splits his soul the weaker he is as far as how he was in the older movies. Kind of like he is diluted down to like a weak zombie type way. I only did that bc Im a die hard Chucky fan also. But I totally agree with you.
I think all the flashbacks were important and related to the episode they were in nicely. I wish they delved into chucky meeting John, his voodoo teacher. Heck, they could have recreated the toy store chase
It Was Really A Amazing Show But However I Really Hate What They Did To Nica we been rooting for her since curse in 2013 just to have her pretty much Cut To nothing you can’t do much with the character and even if you save her what can you do its a waste of a amazing character and actor in my opinion 🤷♂️ and there was some weird doll movement especially when chucky was following Lexi In episode 3 and i like the junior death scene but they could’ve been more to do with him and he never found out chucky killed his mom its kinda of frustrating overall its a 8/10 for me and your right the finale kinda of pulled down how i felt about the season and build up
Also the storylines being cut off like with brees cancer and stuff was intentional, Chucky was showing how ruthless he is and he was also trying to kill all their parents to break the characters down and make it easier to convince one of them to kill.
I saved the last two episodes until show wrapped which I'm glad I did now and really happy we got confirmation of a season 2. I honestly thought we'd get this show and then a movie but this works too just hope story threats get resolved
I agree with everything but all the things about the last episode. I liked how they ended most things. And that last scene with chucky was also great because that’s totally something he would do. Just tease the audience that there’s more to come
I am loving that Chucky t-shirt. It gives the illusion of Chucky moving when you breathe or move. Maybe you should do that shaking-chest dance. I wanna see more of Chucky moving! 🤤
I took Chucky's plan as he wanted to make his hometown ground zero for the dolls spreading around the U.S. He even said that it was ground zero in the finale. Wasn't a great reason, but it made sense. They also didn't emphasize it as a big point, it was a short conversation. I think the idea was Lexy changed after a traumatic event. I think 8 episodes was too short that it made the change seem too sudden (within a few episodes, you had her go from the costume and fake apologies to calling Jake family). Things like this usually take a full 20+ episode season in other shows to happen, so for it to happen in 3-4 episodes makes it feel weird and rushed. But I do think the idea was that Chucky forced change in the kids through trauma, some positive, some negative. And I do agree that some story elements didn't feel like a payoff. The Bree thing was one. I think the aim was supposed to be an emotional one with the cancer, making the audience feel for her death. Same with Devon's mom and the science teacher. They had interesting elements in the story, and it seemed like there was no proper pay off to them because once their story got interesting, they either died or were out of the show. I want to say that there is a positive in the show that the movies have never truly done. Since the story is longer, Don has more time to flesh out characters. Some of the deaths were actually emotionally driven and not just carnage candy. We get more time with these characters to like them and their deaths are much more effective because of it. This was the first time in the Chucky series that a death made me have an emotional reaction, and it made me enjoy the season so much more.
I give it a solid a B+…the series had a few gaps but overall it was enjoyable. the one golden opportunity that they missed which I wish they would have shown was a flashback scene with him chucky meeting John from the original Child’s Play. They should have shown how he learned black magic. Besides that I hope they bring back Tyler’s character from child’s play 3 to help haunt down all the chucky dolls.
The flashbacks dipped towards the end. I feel like it was deleted dialogue from seed of chucky with the serial killer themed relationship squabbles. I would still love to hear “hello John”
I was so proud of Tiff when she decided to decapitate the Chucky doll, refusing to kill Nica-- but then she cut up Nica, anyway.😭 && seemingly was still going along with Chucky's plan!! I hope there is some explanation on that. **Totally thought Andy was gonna crash into her with the truck!! That was somehow disappointing and a relief at the same time when he didn't.😅
The season finale was my favorite episode, it was just so much fun and it was probably the best way to end the season without it feeling rushed. I like Lexy and thought her transition was realistic enough, she was a bitchy 13-14 year old that did terrible things but when she found out about chucky and how jake wanted her dead and how much it truly hurt him she calmed down some. Then they got closer as the episodes went by bc trauma bonding is a real thing. I think they are even anyways, Lexy was being a bitch and dressed up as his father and jake sent chucky to kill her. They both did terrible things but they made up and now are close. Im looking forward to their friendship in season 2. I do think they should of toned her down a bit in the first 2 episodes but ill let it slide. I am disappointed you didnt like the finale, it had alot of great moments, tiffany the doll came back, i also really loved that outro with chucky trolling us, i felt perfectly in line with chucky. I just feel like we shouldnt expect such big things to happen like they did in the movies bc this show is stretching the story which i think benifits alot of the story. Anyways i hope you enjoy season 2 more. Ive been a huge fan of chucky since i was a little kid and i think this is an almost perfect slasher series. Probably the best film to tv adaption.
Great video Cody. Love your content. As for this season I'll give it 3 out of 5 stars. The finale was lackluster and a let down a little, but I enjoyed the season mostly. Some writing issues and retconing i didn't like. But chucky himself was excellent all the way through. The look, voice, Kills, all on point. So overall I'm looking forward to season 2. I just hope Don stops retconing. Its so annoying.✌
Wonder if it purposely done with the end to the season finale where Chucky gave the Dead Meat style Kill count and teased season 2 to leave us all with the "that's how it ends,What the fuck?!?!?! " and wanting to see more reaction
@@CryingLord The clear explanation and evidence is everything we've gotten from him since Seed (2004). I'd say 17 years is hardly a rushed judgment. From Seed to now it has ranged from abysmal to mediocre.
I'm about halfway through the first season and even though I thought the parts of the series that actually had Chucky in it were great, I thought the other plot threads were very poorly done. Child's Play has never had amazing scripts but some of the subject matter in this series could have been handled much better. The bullying aspect of the show was atrocious, although it did illustrate a realistic aspect of bullying which is the bully will always get away with it. Throughout the first half of the season the bully targets the main character and is caught MULTIPLE times in plain view of everyone and no one does anything about it. Then at one point the main character fights back in a non-violent way and is quickly suspended. Afterwards, the bully retaliates by hazing the main character in a way that some people would consider evil, is caught dead to rights, and yet the teachers merely suggest to the parents that she get a stern talking to. I was angry at the time but was also thinking "yep that's about right, the victim gets suspended while the bully gets away with it". I'm pretty sure the parents didn't even bring it up to the kids afterwards. I've already written way more than I expected to but plot points like that bogged down the series for me. The bullying was a major one and the gay acceptance for kids in middle school was a little creepy as well, but whenever Chucky was related the series got much better.
I enjoyed the hell out of it, it's a lot of fun looking forward to an episode each week and speculating. Chucky looked rough in a lot of shots where his face looks very stiff, noticeably when he is speaking with the army of Chucky. However, he looked great when attacking Jake and the guests at the theater. The burnt look was awesome. Could be budget limitations but perhaps Kevin Yagher can come on board once again. He did the special effects for parts 1-4. I heard he was close to coming back for the show. I'm very excited for S2.
Awesome review! I was skeptical at first about the show cuz I didn't really care for cult of chucky but imma buy the show now thanks for the great content 👌
3 characters from the films I don't want in Season 2 are Tyler from Child's Play 3 and Jesse and Jade from Bride. Tyler because that little shit was the most naive character in the series. He was the same age Andy was in 2 yet it takes Chucky pulling a knife on him for Tyler to realise he's evil. Andy was 6 in the original film yet Andy saw Chucky for what he was shortly after Chucky killed Eddie and threatened to kill Andy if he told anyone about him. As for Jesse and Jade that supposed "loving couple" seemed to only love accusing each other of murders neither of them committed. Whenever I watch Bride and Jesse and Jade go into the drive thru chapel to get married I think "Jesse if you think Jade killed Officer Norton for trying to stop you from running away together why are you marrying her?" When 2 serial killer possessed dolls whose arguments end with them literally trying to kill each other are a more loving couple than you you might want to rethink your relationship.
I won lie, I took some issue with a few things that felt like either missed opportunity, or something changed abruptly here and there. But overall while watching, I could forgive it because I knew from watching that the show was good enough to deserve a second season, and if we get there by leaving threads open in the story then I can handle that. The big question would be: how much these threads will be resolved in the next season?
I agreed with most of your little pulling saying criticisms the only one I don't really agree with is Jennifer Tilly. I re-watched Bride of Chucky just the other day and I don't know what people are talking about when people say they want her to be less campy and more legitimately threatening like she was in that movie she was just as campy in that movie. Half of the wines in the movie are just her being basically a typical housewife who likes to murder. My mother always used to say blah blah blah. Honestly my biggest problem with Tiffany as a character is she's just whatever the writers need her to be she fought in tried to kill Chucky at the end of bride then she's just back with him at the start of seed then she leaves them at the end of seed and suddenly she's back with him Curse of Chucky now she has left him again but I bet you she's going to be back with him in the next season. She's like Harley Quinn if Harley Quinn couldn't make up her goddamn mind whether or not she's loved Joker or wanted to kill him.
I like the stabs through the bottom of the seats in the movie theater. OMG when lexis mother eats the popcorn and comes to notice theres blood in it and discovers her husband is dead from chucky stabbing him through the seat I thought that was mad creative.
I really agree with the points you made. I do think they probably did have a conclusion, but would not have fit in that finale. So why not save it for the next season. Hence, the announcement of season 2 days before the finale. I kind of figured it would be a cliff hanger. As far as the other characters, they were one offs so they probably weren't going to get much of a story arc. i consider Aunt bree just to be reference character. I guess we just have to wait and see what happens next. the only thing that was sad was the whole Nica situation, that poor character. I pretty much agree mostly with all of your analysis. cant wait for season 2 and your breakdowns.
Episode 1-6 I give the show a B+ 7-8 I give it a D. Show total I give a C- 7 and 8 were just a mess writing. I’m not sure if during production Don thought he had 10 episodes to work with but it genuinely felt like there was episodes missing with how some characters jumped. I thought this was me being a nit-picky fanboy. But my fiancé couldn’t keep up in episode 7 and 8 either and was so confused. So the episodes didn’t work at a surface level either
For season 2 chucky gonna have a plan for Glenda and glen to show up and Glenda maybe glen are gonna end up befriended the kids just to get close to them to kill/betray them and it’s gonna end up being sun dumb voodoo experiment at the end of the finale again
5:02 Yeah the "Chucky and Tiffany kill a random guy to steal the car Tiffany drives in the present" and the one where they have sex after killing a pizza man were pointless.
The flashbacks definitely are in my negatives I tried my hardest to not to harp on them but definitely ruined the Nostalgia of the previous movies at least for me
Only thing Don Mancini needs to do is explain why Eddie was there the night he died. I have a few ideas where it can make alot of sense. It wouldn't be odd if Kyle is alive. She was outside the house. The blast of the explosion knocked her away. But didn't kill her. We see it in action movies all the time
I was 50/50 on this show, to me not a single question was answered from the last movie they just glossed over it and started something new, they already did that once in bride(glossed over the last 3 movies and just went off on its own)
@@ryanhobbs2315 How there can be 2 tiffany's if she transfered her soul into a human body (Tilly). How and Why can Chucky split his soul, they just passively mentioned a step to do it. In the end it's a rabbit hole that puts the continuity of all the movies into question
LuckySTR8 I would go on a limb and say Tiffany knows the same soul splitting voodoo spell that Chucky does and it's another form of Voodoo to have that ability
im just glad they never went to over edge like halloween franchise. where as much as liked curse of chucky, some the kill counts never made any sense to me. edited: when will your video for chucky episode ranking be out?
The teenagers' terrible acting made me disliked them from the start till the end... especially the character Jake! The LGBT theme felt redundant n too much back stories. It was however enjoyable to watch overall with Chucky doing his bad ass things n I love whenever Tiffany pops up. Should I not mention that Fiona player her rolls really well. N not forgetting Lexi's little sister who always screams for `I want Chucky' . That was kinda cute! Go go season 2!
I definitely agree the look of Chucky himself and the animatronics were the best part of this show but imo mostly everything else was boring and I was just waiting for the scenes with Chucky, and unfortunately couldn’t wait for the episodes to end because it was too much teen drama I didn’t care about.
I agree with everything EXCEPT the love plot. Devon was more invested in Jake, not the other way around. 1. Devon always said ILU first, Jake only mirrored it back 🚩 2. Devon gifted him at Christmas while Jake got him nothing and when he did buy a last minute thing it was proof that he knew nothing about Devon and his interest 3. Jake is in a constant state of “I got to go!” While Devon shows multiple scenes of “stay here with me” or “let’s forget about this and run away together” 4. Jake would not even kiss him at first in front of his foster family. Devon made a scene by chasing the car shouting just to get the kiss he wanted When Devon wanted good chucky dead and Nadine died as a result of Jake’s dumb choice, it made me wish they made Devon the primary character of the show and given him a better bf
This has been the most compelling TV show I've seen in a while... maybe since The X-Files. I didn't even care that the main protagonist was openly part of the alphabet club and most of the time, that just feels like the whole show is about pushing an agenda
B4 even starting to watch this just my fort. I am at ep 6 and think its better than the last few childs play films defo the Shite last Ai chucky am going to finish watching the last 3 ep,s and start season 2 ☠👍
Yes dude! I love the thoughts! I agree with most. I didn’t agree with thoughts about Devon’s actor not being into the relationship haha I thought it was fine. Also, yes the 180 they did with Lexy was so weird! I ended up accepting it though cause I love her in S2. I thought Bree was cheating but yeah it was cancer. Hated how sudden Devon’s mum died too. And what? He grew up in Hackensack that’s why.. I’m confused on what you mean? Everything was so convoluted too S2 ain’t any better in that either lol. Anyway great review man
I'm not sold on the multiple chucky thing. It's just too out there especially the way they use it. It's already a crazy concept but beyond comprehension.
I had basically the same take on the season. There were a lot of A+ moments, but there were also a few D's and F's. Overall, I'd give the season a B...maybe a B-. But I'm still on board for season 2. I'm hoping they decide to have Chucky's soul-splitting ability reach a limit by making up some pseudo-voodoo reason why a soul can only be divided so many times, so they can kill off the extras and bring us back to the one and only Chucky. And I suspect we'll see Kyle return; it would make sense for a final showdown to come to Andy vs Chucky and Kyle vs Tiffany.
I'm not even gonna cap, The Chucky Show is surprisingly really good and I don't regret watching it. I still dig the show buuuut I think I had my expectations waaay to high or something for episode 8...that episode was honestly 50/50 to me. Cuz episode 6 to me was reeeeally good, then episode 7 to me was even better, but Episode 8....smh....the writer/producer blew his load to early on this one. like I loved the Chucky Shtick, I liked the kills, lol I like the parts where Chucky Objectively wasn't f'ing with G@y parts, I liked when lex father died cuz if the mother died, it would have be way too obvious for her to die, I liked that Andy finally met The Tiff doll, and many more, buuuut I can't lie to myself, Jake acting like a strong Protagonist was kiiiiinda very cringy lol Jake is still my favorite and all, but when he was talking to Chucky like he was tough for some odd reason was kinda cringe. ESPECIALLY the part when Chucky pretty much had the strength of a grown man and Jake overpowered him and said he's been doing pushups. So Jake overpowered a grown man from doing some offscreen push ups 🤣🤣🤣 what I wanted to see was an army of Chucky dolls slaughter that crowd of ppl in the theater. And plus the Tiffany Lil plot was confusing cuz she pretty much states that's she's tired of Chucky but still loyal to Chucky's plan. Honestly, I think episode 8 was written by multiple ppl and the editor had no choice to put all there written plotlines into one episode. The episode 8 should have been written to be a conclusion of the season 1, not end with Chucky (even tho it was funny cuz it reminded me of Tales of the Crypt) talking about the next season. I still liked the episode , but I can't lie to myself and praise this episode fully. But overall , I am Beyond Grateful the Chucky Show exist. Looking forward for season 2
Fiona Dourif playing 80’s Charles Lee Ray was a stroke of genius.
I think it was silly. She doesn’t make a convincing guy.
It was trippy as fuck
@@spideyfan1278 well i just now found out that was her so it convinced me lol
@@spideyfan1278 yeah I didn’t get how that made it to production, having her play two different parts like that. Probably super confusing for people who haven’t seen recent sequels. Her face kinda looks like her dad, but her frame just didn’t look like a man. And her playing this other character who’s possessed by Chucky some of the time, that’s when it jumped the shark.
@@spideyfan1278 are you stupid? She is the spitting image of charles lee ray in his younger days, the resemblance is uncanny. No one could of done it better
The first season had some bumps but ultimately I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Can't wait for S2.
Seriously the first horror movie turn tv series that was actually pretty good for once cause scream is boring
@@reyedwards5223 yeah i agree, as much as love the scream franchise. the way they went about it got really boring fast. I just glad chucky kept true to original format from 80s
Do you think it would be worth the $15 to purchase the season?
@@TheSacredFerret maybe seasons are around £20-30 in UK idk about US
@@TheSacredFerret watch it for free
I do agree about Andy though. I feel like since Mancini brought Alex Vincent back into the series that he has been very underutilized. It's almost as if he brought Alex Vincent back for fan service and hasn't known what to do with the character of Andy at all.
It's because the man can't act - simple as that! 👍
I'm hoping that considering how season 1 ended, Andy is somewhat of the main focus in season 2
he's gonna have more protagonist in season 2
My issues with Season One:
1. The voice over for Tiffany in the flashbacks
@@nessadvantage9447 I'm talking about the flashbacks in the series. They don't show him strangling his victims. He was only stabbing them.
@@keithnayo4582 I see what you mean.
The tv series should have shown him do a couple of strangulation killings.
Flashbacks aside, his character (off screen) killed alot of people that way, they definitely dropped the ball on that one and should have shown him do a couple of kills that way.
and 6 Nica
I know she’s on there I just feel she needs to be on there twice because it’s such a disservice
What were the plotholes?
Devin’s mom’s death should have been in the finale possibly with her triggering the bomb after Kyle or Andy saved him. That could have been a nice plot thread to deal with in a season 2.
I really gotta say, that house explosion was edited terribly.
how
It's only a TV show. Don't stress it.
Never explained why devon recorded Jake and his conversation either
I think he was just being a jerk like everyone else
Junior and Nica were done so dirty in the finale. I will never shut up about it lmao.
Junior and Lexi would have been the next Chucky and Tiffany if Lexi went in joined Junior in killing.
I think with Lexi they should have done what they did with Cordelia from Buffy the vampire slayer. Where she was a complete mean girl in the beginning then it went to she was that way at times but at the end became a character who worked with the good guys while still having that mean girl charm with her.
Cordelia is probably the best example.
Yes! I know this is an old comment :D Cordelia is what comes to my mind with Lexy. I love Cordelia and her development arc
We need Chucky 90% of the shows. Forget the human storylines, we only want Chucky!
no lol
Yes
That's not how storytelling works lol
No we don't. There needs to be a balance to enjoy when chunky on screen. I've seen people with this take but you're the same type of people to get what you want and hate it.
Well, it's probably better to make us care about humans so when they die or go through conflict because of Chucky it's a bit better.
Totally agree about the two halves of the show. I was hooked to start off and then it felt like it ran out of steam as we got to the finish line.
I was so shocked when I saw that. Really hope they give her a good ending for season 2
Unfortunately I did hate what they did to Nica. I dont know how they intend to fix that
Nika plays an amazing possessed version of Charles Lee ray it was one of my favorite parts as well as the weird relationship between her and tiff lol
From a scale of 1-10 I'd give this a 6.5/10
Positives: Chucky, His design arguably the best design we have gotten since Bride, his personality is also a major step up from Cult in terms of delivery and one liners.
Chucky and Freddy have always been my favs too. I enjoyed the show more than I did Cult.
I hope they change it to be a dream (just that last scene) or make her a doll next season
I think the Devon being less interested in Jake towards the end of the series made sense because he was grieving for his mother.
In the finale I expected a team up against all the chucky's but the army of chucky's didn't do anything. I guess that's for next season
I adored this show. The story was classic Child’s Play (with unique twists). Sure, some of the acting was iffy at times, there were some plot holes, and the voice dubbing with flashbacks wasn’t great, but I highly enjoyed this show. 8.5/10.
plot holes like what
@@jagshe1829 Like how Tiffany was somehow working with Mike Norris behind Chucky’s back. That made no sense because I’m pretty sure Nica’s mother sold Chucky out.
@@jagshe1829 not to mention the retcon on chuckys origin
@@adalynnshorrorworld2242 Nica’s mom was tired up so it doesn’t make sense that she would call the cops anyways, that’s not a retcon it’s just expansion on the story
@@julianquevedo5822 How is Chucky’s origin a retcon?
You have plenty of alternatives. Nobody gains traction easily. This however, as you already know, is the wrong way to go about it.
@@CodyLeachYT Thanks for the reply!
Can we talk about how Nica couldn't catch a break all season
CODY! sup dude. I couldn't agree more about the finale. Major drag too the rest of the season rocked. Thx for the review 😊
Just tease the audience that there’s more to come
I love chucky lol , I was born in 2002 , first movie was bride of chucky , I love a lot of horror but he’s my favorite
Tiffany just as iconic as Chucky???? Can't believe I just heard that 😳😕
I loved all chucky season 1 as a whole I'm excited for season 2 next year
I give it a solid a B+…the series had a few gaps but overall it was enjoyable. the one golden opportunity that they missed which I wish they would have shown was a flashback scene with him chucky meeting John from the original Child’s Play.
The lack of conclusion really killed me.
I disagree with u. Chucky and Tiff forever!!!
You’re spot on about Lexi or whatever her name is!
As long as Don Mancini has full creative control, this franchise will never be more than mediocre.
His writing is so iffy sometimes great but alot of times meh..
Wayyy too rush to the point without a clear explanation
@@CryingLord The clear explanation and evidence is everything we've gotten from him since Seed (2004). I'd say 17 years is hardly a rushed judgment. From Seed to now it has ranged from abysmal to mediocre.
@@gnc623 I meant as far as the TV series, especially with all the retconning it did
@@CryingLord the tv series didn't retcon anything
I was skeptical at first about the show cuz I didn't really care for cult of chucky but imma buy the show now thanks for the great content 👌
i love Curse and Cult, i'm just surprised they actually decide to continue from those previous straight to dvd films
Honestly I think the first season is the best thing from this franchise, I think it gets everything perfect, not season 2 tho
I really enjoyed the show not perfect but not bad either it has more positives than flaws . Overall I’d give it an 8.5/10
The scene where Devons mom was killed is my by far my least favorite aspect of this season. I don’t believe that would kill someone that easily
You’d be surprised, it’s happened before.
Curse of Chucky: Return of Childs Play
Chucky: Return of Seed of Chucky
Episode 1-6 I give the show a B+
7-8 I give it a D.
Show total I give a C-
7 and 8 were just a mess writing.
This is one of those instances where I agree with everything you said
I did not get invested in the story. Too many characters , Jake and Devon bad actors . Junior is more interesting than the lead.
Don Mancini has great ideas!! Just needs some help with his cliffhangers!!
The best kid actor was the blonde chick. I think she has a bright future ahead of her.
💯💯 chucky tv series is season one Greats.
We see it in action movies all the time
I was 50/50 on this show, to me not a single question was answered from the last movie they just glossed over it and started something new, they already did that once in bride(glossed over the last 3 movies and just went off on its own)
What didn't they answer from Cult?
Tiff was wayyyyy too cartoony the voice sync with the other actress did not work at all and still hate lexy
I agree with everything EXCEPT the love plot. Devon was more invested in Jake, not the other way around.
1. Devon always said ILU first, Jake only mirrored it back 🚩
2. Devon gifted him at Christmas while Jake got him nothing and when he did buy a last minute thing it was proof that he knew nothing about Devon and his interest
3. Jake is in a constant state of “I got to go!” While Devon shows multiple scenes of “stay here with me” or “let’s forget about this and run away together”
4. Jake would not even kiss him at first in front of his foster family. Devon made a scene by chasing the car shouting just to get the kiss he wanted
When Devon wanted good chucky dead and Nadine died as a result of Jake’s dumb choice, it made me wish they made Devon the primary character of the show and given him a better bf
This has been the most compelling TV show I've seen in a while... maybe since The X-Files. I didn't even care that the main protagonist was openly part of the alphabet club and most of the time, that just feels like the whole show is about pushing an agenda
Devin’s mom death the detective was such a lame death scene
It's just a tv show tho
Loved season 1 so excited for season 2
This season sure went by quick lol hope everything pays off in S2 🤘
You have a fantastic introduction music
I really don't like what they did with Nica. It's worse than killing her off
Agreed! I’m hoping for that scene to be a dream or doll Nica for season 2
Just found out the girl that plays kyle is coming back for season 2. So that must mean she survived in the first season
