Cool detail is rat poison cannot kill a human being, there is a chemical inside that would make you vomit, hence why I was happy to see that the priest didn't die from that, but crashed his car because he was really sick
@@allysanchez5630 Rat's have a lower tolerance level than humans. It's like how most animals die when they eat chocolate. Plus, the Chuckster only sprinkled enough to kill like, 4 rats.
I totally agree, that scene was creative and suspenseful as hell, wonderfully done, with a very cool twist that ended up being realistic (as it's unlikely a full-grown man would outright die to that small an amount of rat poisoning alone, so it makes sense that instead, the car crash happened because he was sick)
Fun Fact about Fiona: When she was seven when her father voiced chucky in the first film, she cried very loud when she mistook his scream of agony during the scene Chucky gets set on fire in the fireplace.
It would have been when she was 6 as she confirmed on monopoly events video in 2023 in a sound booth. Anyone else love the change from just counting kills to becoming basically mini docos. I love learning all these things about these horror movies we've all grown to love
I never found Eddie’s role in the new backstory confusing cause Charles said he was about to go pick up Barbie and I just assumed Eddie was gonna drive him to her. Assuming that was actually the reason, Don definitely still could’ve made it easier to understand. Especially if he had Charles say something like: “me AND Eddie are gonna go pick up Barbie”
That shot of the dinner plates emulating Russian Roulette was so simple yet effective. It lets the audience know that any main character could die right here, it just adds to the suspense and thrill. This movie might’ve had the cheapest budget but it’s still one of the best in the franchise and I’m glad back to its roots.
Curse is easily tied with 2 for my favorite Chucky movie. I dig Gothic houses and Fiona was a geat addition and having an able final girl in a wheelchair is different and interesting. It didn't skimp on the blood either. Chucky's new look is faithful enough for me and a soft reboot to this new Chucky era. But its mainly the gothic house that puts this so high on my list.
For me the highlights of this movie are Chucky(OBVIOUS), the gore and atmosphere and Fiona, i didn't expected her to be that good, she is even greater in Cult as well
13:42 it's also important to know that for some reason, somehow Chucky's hairstyle drastically changes from the classic good guy haircut to straightened hair
i normally have an issue with non-disabled people playing disabled characters but Fiona did a great job and I really appreciate how well written she is as a wheelchair user myself. obviously i get why she was played by an able bodied actress considering the next movie, but just don’t see many of us in badass leading roles.
You can really tell they tried to stay away from the dumb stereotypes. They even gave her a custom wheelchair instead of the clunky standard hospital chair. It's the small details I appreciate as a wheelchair user myself. Especially with how much influence media has on the general population towards minorities.
I know it's been a nightmare jumping through all of the hoops, but the Chucky recounts have been some of my favorite content you have ever put out. An absolute blast.
24:32 The way that Chucky just says "Andy!?" when Andy shoves a shotgun into Chucky's face and makes one-liner sounds like he's genuinely insulted for having the thing he does happen to him.
So glad you got this out without any trouble! Nica is a great protagonist, and she has great chemistry with Chucky. Not surprised she’s great at acting with her own dad! I have a neurological disability, and seeing a disabled protagonist who was competent and badass was awesome!
I’m happy y’all were able to upload this recount without any issues. Not only is A Martinez’s death my favorite of the movie, it’s honestly one of the best kills in the franchise in my opinion. And of course ai love that we got Alex Vincent back. That was so awesome!
It is interesting that, while you noted in a previous recount that the franchise has technically maintained a singular continuity with no complete franchise reboots (which is fairly impressive), there have been two notable instances where the details of the origin have been retconned to the point of essentially invalidating prior canon, namely adding the magical necklace and making the chase origin about his being found out for kidnapping (which, as you say here, doesn't explain the presence of a partner in a getaway van).
I'm not gonna lie. I'm not much of a Chucky fan, BUT I really do like Don Mancini. He seems like a really funny and genuinely good guy (pun). You gotta appreciate how open and honest he is. Whether it's him saying how he likes to re-use past movie ideas, or even how he takes accountability for his movie not doing well (@ 0:16). I think taking accountability to that degree and admitting it to the world is pretty damn cool of him.
You and your team's dedication to horror movies is just awesome. More than just counting dead bodies on the screen. I appreciate all the backstory, the lore, and every other detail you and the team put into these videos. Thanks for everything you people do.
James is doing a fantastic job with these recounts! My favorite parts have been the behind the scenes and interview footage. Fiona & Brad’s love and respect for each other is so sweet. And my admiration for Don Mancini grows with each recount video.
I love how they gave Nica a custom wheelchair. Most long term wheelchair users, especially paraplegics use rigid ultralight weight manual wheelchairs. It's really nice to see an openly disabled character that's not helpless but is still realistic.
Could you imagine watching the last Harry Potter film and, with the sad music in the background, Snape saying “you have your mother’s eyes…and they were always TOO F*CKING CLOSE TOGETHER!!” to Harry? 😂 This is one of the many reasons why I love these Kill Counts!
Nicas story has been so sad ever since this movie. from having her family killed, being blamed for it, going to a mental hospital, having to deal with chucky there again, having a part of chuckies soul planted into her, and now (SPOILER) having all her limbs cut off by tiff at the end of chucky s1 . her life is miserable lol
One thing I really respect about this movie is that Don made Charles Lee Ray important. After the moment where Chucky accepts being a doll he didn't have to put so much emphasis on him, and Don's admitted to not being a huge fan of it. But he stays true to it and doesn't try to push it into a corner and uses it in ways that are interesting.
These recounts are turning me into a chucky fan. He used to creep me out and kinda scare me (except Seed that I low key liked) but all this extra context makes me appreciate the effort put into it. Definitely going to check out the show now
I’ve always loved Chucky, and it took me a little too long to realize he’s one of the most consistent horror icons in film history. Love the way Don gets to culminate everything he’s envisioned for the franchise. And James, I love that you’re doing the recounts, so sorry that most have been a nightmare to upload. I, along with a lot of others are patient and understanding. Keep doing what you’re doing Dead Meat!
I don’t think it can be overstated how well this movie is put together and how good the effects are based on the budget given for the film they did a really good job on this film!
To Jason voorhees is tommy Jarvis To ghostface is sidney Prescott To Freddy Krueger is Nancy Thompson To chucky is Andy Barclay To Michael myers is Laurie strode
The thing that made me love this film is actually the thing that I thought was gonna make me hate it. Originally while watching it, I thought it was retconning things. Creating a new timeline. When they revealed the scars under Chucky’s makeup (makeup?), it made me love this film. I’m tired of horror movies, especially slashers, retconning previous films. Sometimes I get it, and sometimes it works, but I love when a series commits.
Danielle Bisutti also played Freyja in the God Of War games. If you haven't played them, do so. The overarching story is absolutely masterfully written.
okay so I just realized Nica knocking his head off and it not being fleshly is completely impossible because of the rules from the previous movies, if he has the scars from Bride that means this is still the doll body from Childs Play 3 and that it was fleshy after Chucky failed to swap bodies withTyler and the two human protagonists from Bride... he still had the same body at the start of Seed as well since they were reconstructed from the same dolls found at the graveyard from the end of Bride.... he should have totally either just been knocked out and not decapitated or just walking around with his head detached like in the first movie... wtf
This movie is gorgeous, but it does have quite a bit of continuity errors. From the sunflower basement scene to what you said about the fleshy innards of the dolls.
There was a spin off comic which showed that body being burned up and the fumes giving life to another batch of good guy dolls but I’m not sure if that’s canon
Damn I never remembered this movie being so solid! I last binged the whole series when I was like 13 (21 now) and If anything these recounts really put me in the mood to rewatch the series. Just gotta say I appreciate James and Chelsea so much for giving us all so much amazing content. Rewatching Kill counts and podcasts is practically my second job at this point.
For the eyeball scene, I think the color was actually spot on because if you ever dissect an eye, there’s a little film behind the eyeball that is that striking blue color, so if this is accurate, then chucky would have stabbed through the eye, and not just on the side to pull it out. I don’t know if this made sense to any of you but look up cow eye dissections and you’ll see what I mean
I have all of the love in the world for Seed of Chucky especially for how queer that movie is but I also love Curse of Chucky and just how ambitious it is for a directive video movie Don Mancini really feels like he's firing on all cylinders with this flick, damn good writing, good atmosphere and mood and I love the post credits cameo
To me, "Curse of Chucky" is a good "synergy film." It was the film that made me understand the franchise as a whole and made me love Chucky both as a franchise and a character. The first five films before this were unpredictable, clever horror delights, sure, but this managed to pull everything together in a cohesive way that felt fresh, ferocious, fun and phantasmal. It made me reevaluate everything I thought I knew about "Child's Play" and "Chucky" (a development I attribute to Dead Meat.), not just story-wise but tonally. Here's to more Don Mancini and more Charles Lee Ray!
oh my goodness these recounts are so fun. you guys have nailed the behind the scenes/kills/jokes/critique formula. its a pleasure to watch. to think these videos were arduous to release (to say the least) is shameful on Universal. thank you. thank you. thank you. cant wait for cult and chucky 1.
That ending credits scene is so cool! We’ve seen Good-Guy-sized packages all over the series and then see one delivered to the OG protagonist’s house. We all know what it is and are expecting Chucky to get another kill but we have the twist of Andy being prepared. It’s so awesome to see horror movie heroes being geniuses instead of idiots.
The dedication to reposting these videos is honestly amazing. James you and your team deserve all the love and praise and I will never tire of watching your videos. Keep up the fantastic work
Curse of Chucky was my first Chucky movie that I not only watched, but also owned. This movie is what managed to fully get me into the franchise, and I don't regret it one bit.
Hey James! Loving these recounts--Child's Play has always been one of my favorite series of yours, and I've loved watching the old counts to prep for the new ones. I was especially looking forward to Curse and Cult, my personal favorites of the franchise. Well done as always! Thanks for being good people.
Seeing these recounts on the Chucky movie series got me loving the Chucky character all over again and really looking at the details of each kill that happens
Everytime I see Curse i get shocked everytime because I always forget it never came out in theaters. It was honestly the first movie that made me rethink the entire series. I cant say that I like the movies before curse but I have learned to appreciate them and the entire crew that made them just because of how dedicated everyone is with each movie of the series. These recounts are making me appreciate them even more just because of how wholesome everyone is and how they are just one big happy family
Growing up I never liked the Chucky series but have grown to love it to the point where it's one of my favourites. I really enjoyed this one and cult. I'm excited for the cult of chucky recount! James and the team did amazing as they always do!

That line got a cackle out of me. Nice one James and the writing team!
13:42 it's also important to know that for some reason, somehow Chucky's hairstyle drastically changes from the classic good guy haircut to straightened hair
Nica is such a great character, and an inspiration to paraplegics everywhere.
Yes she is.
U should watch the show, they ruin her

I'm surprised that recount curse of chucky didn't take that long from the age restrictions and copyright claims. Kudos to you Dead meat team!
SOOSH THOSE RUclips MODERATION GUYS ARE OUT THERE
WE SHOULDN'T GIVE THEM IDEAS
they claimed the bad chucky movies lol
i normally have an issue with non-disabled people playing disabled characters but Fiona did a great job and I really appreciate how well written she is as a wheelchair user myself. obviously i get why she was played by an able bodied actress considering the next movie, but just don’t see many of us in badass leading roles.
You can really tell they tried to stay away from the dumb stereotypes. They even gave her a custom wheelchair instead of the clunky standard hospital chair. It's the small details I appreciate as a wheelchair user myself. Especially with how much influence media has on the general population towards minorities.
It’s called acting.
@@sofial434the crew that work on this franchise clearly have a lot of passion for each movie.
It's giving "Why do straight people play gay people"🙄
I love these kill count recounts. Remember you're always appreciated James.
legit love how much work he puts into all his videos , haha oath this guys bloody awesome
Brad Dourif’s on screen crazy is always a treat. Recently rewatched him playing Luther Lee Boggs on X Files. He did not disappoint.
Chuckys "you fucking should be" response to Alice always sends chills up my spine. Such an awesome moment/"reveal"
The love and care that the Chucky crew has for the franchise is what makes every iteration a joy to watch, no matter how serious or campy.
I gotta say I love the idea of haunted doll antagonist against a person that can’t move or feel their legs kinda unique compared to child vs doll
Fun Fact here: Danielle Bisutti, the actress who plays Barb, also voiced Freya or Frigg if you prefer in God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarok
She was also in Dwight In Shining Armor. Not as known but without it i wouldn't have realized she's Freya lmao.
i will always appreciate the amount of time, effort and downright hard work that the dead meat team puts in to every video
I know it's been a nightmare jumping through all of the hoops, but the Chucky recounts have been some of my favorite content you have ever put out. An absolute blast.
24:32
The way that Chucky just says "Andy!?" when Andy shoves a shotgun into Chucky's face and makes one-liner sounds like he's genuinely insulted for having the thing he does happen to him.
Mancini seems like such a cool, passionate person, it's so rad seeing all this. Thanks for the recount JAJ!
A Chucky kill count with no issues? This is how I want to start off my Sunday morning

Fiona has been such an incredible gift to this cast. Seeing her in the Chucky tv series made me so fucking happy. She & Jennifer both killed it.
Do for real life that is so a good thing
Except all the backstory and look more and one other detail the team put into these videos thank you for everything you people do.
James is doing a fantastic job with these recounts! My favorite parts have been the behind the scenes and interview footage. Fiona & Brad’s love and respect for each other is so sweet. And my admiration for Don Mancini grows with each recount video.
You can't deny that this film is so beautiful to look at, the gothic sets and cinematography are just gorgeous.
As a kid who was introduced to Chucky through this film. It has a special place in my heart
FOR REAL 😭🔥
As a kid? Movie isn't even that old
Unfortunately I got introduced to chucky with seed of chucky I was only 2 when bride came out
@@rickyrosay33977 I was watching curse of chucky at 3 lol

7:27 thats a super cool shot. The table is the cylinder, the plates as chambers, the chilli bowls as the bullets and the cheese as the primers.
I read that quote in Alan Rickman's voice 😂
I really like the "Chucky hangs around for moral support." line (7:04).
I absolutely HOWLED at the line "just like Mattel Myers", JAMES! Your comedic sense is on FIRE lately!
If that Winnipeg joke was a reference to Chris Jericho, this channel has become 1000% better because of it
Nicas story has been so sad ever since this movie. from having her family killed, being blamed for it, going to a mental hospital, having to deal with chucky there again, having a part of chuckies soul planted into her, and now (SPOILER) having all her limbs cut off by tiff at the end of chucky s1 . her life is miserable lol
I love how Curse reintroduced Andy, the guy's the Tommy Jarvis of Child's Play
No, Andy is more of the Laurie Strode of child's play.
To Jason voorhees is tommy Jarvis
To ghostface is sidney Prescott
To Freddy Krueger is Nancy Thompson
To chucky is Andy Barclay
To Michael myers is Laurie strode
I always love how excited and happy Brad seems to watch Chucky work
The thing that made me love this film is actually the thing that I thought was gonna make me hate it.
3:40 "Let's find out and get to them." My favorite line.
okay so I just realized Nica knocking his head off and it not being fleshly is completely impossible because of the rules from the previous movies, if he has the scars from Bride that means this is still the doll body from Childs Play 3 and that it was fleshy after Chucky failed to swap bodies withTyler and the two human protagonists from Bride... he still had the same body at the start of Seed as well since they were reconstructed from the same dolls found at the graveyard from the end of Bride.... he should have totally either just been knocked out and not decapitated or just walking around with his head detached like in the first movie...
James you've been on it! Glad you love the Chucky series as much as the rest of us
For the eyeball scene, I think the color was actually spot on because if you ever dissect an eye, there’s a little film behind the eyeball that is that striking blue color, so if this is accurate, then chucky would have stabbed through the eye, and not just on the side to pull it out.
For real life that is so awesome
Post credits Cameo
To me, "Curse of Chucky" is a good "synergy film." It was the film that made me understand the franchise as a whole and made me love Chucky both as a franchise and a character. The first five films before this were unpredictable, clever horror delights, sure, but this managed to pull everything together in a cohesive way that felt fresh, ferocious, fun and phantasmal. It made me reevaluate everything I thought I knew about "Child's Play" and "Chucky" (a development I attribute to Dead Meat.), not just story-wise but tonally. Here's to more Don Mancini and more Charles Lee Ray!
This Kill Count script was really on point
"Tickle-Me Terror" lmao
Keep up the good work y'all!
oh my goodness these recounts are so fun. you guys have nailed the behind the scenes/kills/jokes/critique formula. its a pleasure to watch. to think these videos were arduous to release (to say the least) is shameful on Universal. thank you. thank you. thank you. cant wait for cult and chucky 1.
I really love the random and subtle pro wrestling references 😂 thank you all so much for keeping us entertained!
As a huge fan of Hannibal, the “Freddie Lounds treatment” line was perfect

that first Chucky line "...you fuckin' should be." is genuinely unsettling!!! i love it so much!
but the "just keep your fuckin' mouth shut!" cracks me up every time
Same, he's scary in this movie and not a joke. It's what was needed.
I love how the child’s play family is so tight! How multiple generations work on the films
Got to love he even did the detail of the flowers staying colored. 24:47
Keep up the fantastic work
Did the video reach the end of the movie for you?
Re-watched the original KC last night just in case the Fun Police struck again. Really is amazing how much the series has changed since then.
So happy to see these consistent kill counts they really make my day
This was actually my *favorite* Chucky movie, in my opinion it was the scariest. Also loved them bringing Alex Vincent back as Andy!
“Honking threats at her like a goose” 😂
I love how James does his best to give everybody a great kill cout
Everytime I see Curse i get shocked everytime because I always forget it never came out in theaters. It was honestly the first movie that made me rethink the entire series. I cant say that I like the movies before curse but I have learned to appreciate them and the entire crew that made them just because of how dedicated everyone is with each movie of the series. These recounts are making me appreciate them even more just because of how wholesome everyone is and how they are just one big happy family
James really let chucky suffocate him at end for us. that’s pure dedication if I’ve ever seen
Growing up I never liked the Chucky series but have grown to love it to the point where it's one of my favourites. I really enjoyed this one and cult. I'm excited for the cult of chucky recount!
James and the team did amazing as they always do!
This one is my favorite of the series and Fiona is so amazing. I just can't wait to see her in season two.
Much love and respect.
She's great, can't believe this is the first time I'm seeing her that I know of!
Chucky saying “Andy” at the end reminds me so much of the “Meghan” line from Jason lives it’s hilarious
