Thanks for your honesty, I won't bother buying if it's released on dvd 📀 in England unless at a reduced price. Don't really like Chucky as I've always hated dolls. Just couldn't tell my mam about the dolls as she saved to buy me a laughing and crying baby doll and the most expensive barbies. I hated barbie but put my baby doll in my christening dress and kept as a orniment 😊🐾
U literally had the same thoughts as I did.. bravo Cody 👏 I will say I hated everytime they went back to Tiffany including the Clue murder mystery episode. The only positive when we went back to Tiff was to see the twins. What happened to the season 1 Tiffany cuz even then she seemed alot smarter then Chucky. WTF did they do to her this season 🤦
Me personally I don't like how some directors once they get free control they just do what they want and ignore what we want why some writers are like that I don't get it
I agree it's criminal how Andy has been used. There was so much potential in bringing Alex Vincent back and they've done nothing with him. Hopefully we get more of Andy and he can be rectified. He's the main protagonist all the way from start and deserves better.
having him and kyle in the show just felt like a fan service and it was extremely disappointing to see our favorite characters get sidelined by glen lol.
Felt super rushed, half assed, and like there is no care for these characters in general, let alone Andy and Kyle. Don Mancini needs a writer and someone to filter his ideas. Or just give it to someone else. Where Chucky started to where he is now as a character and series, it’s very unfortunate.
@@SlasherInSuits And making it so there's always another doll makes any time he dies pointless now. When there was only 1 Chucky yeah we knew he'd back for a sequel but at least he'd stay dead a bit.
im glad you brought up how many times they introduced new problems or enemies to the show but were solved in the same episode or the next. when the bald chucky was introduced i thought he was going to pose a big threat to the crew or even chucky himself but like you said he was killed off in the same episode so stupid it felt like a waste of potential.
the Colonel was setup for most of the season but sadly for some reason the writers thought it would be best to have him poison the buff chucky offscreen then have him get killed by Andy offscreen and have his last words be a movie reference for shit & giggles.
@@rxtsec1 same, I really dug what they were going for. They felt like real people in a crazy situation, and I thought the actor did just fine portraying them too.
I still belive lexy aint shit, she made fun of Jake's dad and bullied this man for no reason. It's unrealistic they would never be friends and even me personally I wouldn't ever talk to her again after the shit she pulled.
@@NintyGuy999 Fiona Dourif is amazing...the voice acting from Brad Dourif is also on another level, considering he does multiple voices of different Chucky dolls this season
Devon was by far the worst actor this season. He sleepwalks through the entire season. Jake is not that great either but it doesn't help that the actor who shares so many scenes with him isn't even trying. I do realize that even the best actors can be hampered by the material. One of the worst moments of the season is when they discover the bully's body. The characters don't even flinch.
Yep. Season 3 has been nearly perfect and far better than s2 so far. The Kills, the gore, the story especially chucky getting old and dieing are so much better. Love that the exorcism carried over and had consequences for s3. I enjoy all seasons but s2 is the odd ball amd the one I wouldn't re watch besides a few Episodes
One big mistake is they killed off the 3 best characters introduced this season; Glen, Glenda and Nadine. Also they wasted the plot point of the real Jennifer Tilly being in the doll. They could have done much more with that. Season 2 felt like a Resident Evil sequel. All the things teases at the end in one movie are completely erased in the next. The plot of an army of Chuckies lead by a Tiffany doll would have been interesting. I think they weren't prepared for this season and made stuff up last minute.
@@merksmovies25 Glen and Glenda were interesting characters. Now we got that stupid doll version back. As for Nadine, Devon should have died proving he was right all along, Jake losing his live and setup nobody is safe on the show.
This is why I’m a fan of Cody- over thirty minutes of explaining where you stand on a movie / show so even if I sometimes disagree I can never say I don’t see exactly where you’re coming from- bravo 👏🏽
I DESPISE when people say, “It’s just a show/movie, why do you care so much??” As a person who has used horror films (The Halloween franchise in particular) to get me through some really hard times in my life, I can empathize with being extremely disappointed by a franchise that means a lot to you. I enjoyed the first season, but I haven’t watched the 2nd season yet because people told me they didn’t like it either. That sucks.
I agree. There were just some moments this season that didn't make any sense. Some people out there really hate it when youtubers put this show down. I enjoyed it but its not the best. I wish the writing was better from time to time for this show as a whole
The main excuse to defend this season's bad writing seems to be "It's about a possessed doll so it doesn't have to make sense or take itself seriously." When there are plenty of supernatural shows with well written rules and logic for the world they're set in. And you can have fun and not take something completely seriously without making it a joke impossible to take seriously.
Don't listen to them. As someone old enough to have watched this franchise since it debuted I can tell you I LOVED season 2. I LOVED the different Chuckies (specially the "good Chucky". This guy keeps talking about the kids, not sure why. I don't care for ANY OF THEM I only care about the killings and Chucky.
Well this season not better than the first season this season seem to give closure to the Seed Of Chucky I just want to see serious Chucky again Curse was the closest we got to Child's Play Chucky but I did like the twist of Dr. Mixter being the mastermind behind season 1 events.
Here's what I would have done for S2: Tiff keeps Andy at gunpoint, forcing him to actually get the dolls to their destination. He manages to escape, but realizing he's outnumbered and outgunned (outknifed?) he makes a run for it, but not before taking out the Tiffany doll. Now, season 2 is all about hunting down these Chuckys. Andy isn't thrilled about the idea, but with Kyle dead (as far as he knows) he needs to recruit help in order to stop the Chucky army. Knowing that he'll have a hell of a time convincing anyone of the truth, he starts tracking down survivors, bringing in all the franchise veterans we know and love: Tyler, DaSilva, Jesse & Jade (who for the sake of internal conflict are now divorced) and reluctantly and against his better judgment, the kids from season 1. As the season progresses, the squad hunts down and kills these Chuckys. Unbeknownst to them, with each kill, the soul portion in each fallen doll gets split up amongst the surviving ones, making each kill harder than the last. When they kill the penultimate doll, it starts laughing with its final breaths. He knows that his adversaries just unwittingly completed the spell. Somehow (because voodoo) instead of being as powerful as he originally was, splitting his soul and then recombining it makes chucky more of what he originally was. He's stronger, faster, wilier and has new abilities and a command over life and death he never did before. With things looking the worst they have ever been, Andy and his crew have no choice but to turn to the last person they ever thought of for help: Tiffany. Tiffany is the only other person with the knowledge of voodoo necessary to outwit this new, strongest version of Chucky. Having a history of turning on him, Tiff agrees to help. The crew stumble upon the amputated and imprisoned Nica and demand an explanation. Tiff explains she has been working to purge Nica of Chucky, who took over her body in Cult and had to amputate her in order to keep chucky at bay. She explains that after finally succeding, Nica hasn't said a word since and Tiff has just been doing her best to take care of her. Nica takes stock of the group, recognizing some, but not others she looks confused, tired and disheveled. The group probes Nica for confirmation, but she doesn't say a word, obviously suffering from some form of ptsd. After they finally manage to kill the remaining chucky doll, Nica starts giggling. The giggle turns to a cackle. A cackle we know all too well. Chucknica begins frantically chanting to damballah, as her limbs begin to regrow. "This! This is the TRUE power of Damballah!" The group stares in shock and Andy is the first to break out of it. He opens fire on Chucknica, but it's pointless. She takes all the bullets and literally spits them out. The entire group turns their weapons on Chucknica as he/she realizes that even this power can be overwhelmed by sufficient numbers. Chucknica makes a break for it, putting an end to season two. In a post credits scene, we see Chucknica browsing on ebay and upon finally finding one, she let's out one final cackle before we fade to black.
This is more of what we should have gotten. Only thing I would add would be a scene of a very burnt Kyle following two red-headed college students and taking notes....
The thing is, with those movies, Don's ideas were heavily restricted or shot down by the movie studios. Don was heavily restricted, and for food reason, while he has good ideas and is a staple to the series, he has ruined it. Don't get me wrong there were a lot of good with the season such as Glen and Glenda, the Chucky Doll Forest, the Buff Chucky, and Colonel, etc. But the bad just outweighs the good, and the majority of this season is bad compared to season 1.
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed this season, but I cannot say that it doesn't have flaws. I mean, good Chucky was an interesting character and they just killed him off after possessing the Father like it was nothing, not to mention my frustionation in the reveal of Jennifer Tilly being held hostaged just to kill her off next episode, and don't even get me started on the season finale with Caroline being manipulated into believing that she was adopted by her mother and father? Didn't really care for the other two Chucky dolls. But, I will admit that Jennifer, Glen/Glenda, Lexi, Nadine, and Fiona Dorrif were the highlight of the season. Overall 8.5/10 Great review, Cody. 😎👍
The first season was awesome, but it's seem that the writers smoked dirt when putting together season two. I eagerly watched episodes 1-3, but episode 4 went so far left field that I actually dread the thought of sitting through the rest of season 2, and I brought the whole season on Prime😬😬
I give this season a C- I really thought this season would be better than the first but it's not it's not an 100% bad season my main issue is they introduce character that are are already or almost established and then they killed them off or bring characters back (Jennifer Tilly) only for them to get killed off like there's no point.
I was honestly so bored…. Jake and Devin (especially Devin) we’re a snooze fest. Thank god for lexi. I loved Jennifer and Tiffany dialogue but they quickly ruined that when a 12 wheeler ran Jennifer over…. That’s when I really didn’t give a fuck anymore lol
This season felt messy and I didn’t like how they used Andy but the story was batshit crazy and I did appreciate it. Season one was aLot better but I’m interested to see what they do if they get a season 3
I thought the first season, while flawed, was one of the best entries into the franchise up until the last episode. It had some weight and felt like it had forward momentum. The last episode was so jarring and bizarre, and they continued that through Season 2 to where I have no idea what is even happening in the storyline at this point. The lore and web of characters have become so convoluted. Part of what made Season 1 so good (pre-finale) was its simplicity. I really can't imagine how to follow up Season 2 without wiping the slate clean Curse-style. I enjoyed some moments and ideas in Season 2, but it was just too much of a mess. I really don't think they can fix it without starting a whole other storyline with new or reduced characters.
Ironically, in 1st grade, my buddy and I would pretend to fight a 50ft Chucky lmao. He was near deaf, and I didn't know asl, so we bonded over that a lot
"Anything that was set up to be significant was discarded instantly." This! The entire season in a nutshell. It was like Don Mancini threw a bunch of ideas at the wall and didn't bother to see if one would stick.
I wasn't a fan of this season. Same thoughts and opinions as you, I really hated how they would introduce something interesting but then immediately dispose of it. I also hated all the "plot twists" in the season, mainly because they contradict past elements or it just feels redundant to keep revealing hidden Chuckys and whatnot. They introduce an interesting character, and then kill 'em off one or two episodes later. It also felt all over the place, and the main reason I really love season 1 is because it felt simple and not so wacky. I also cannot tell you how much I hated the meta segments. It felt so weird and it didn't make any sense. Also the truck full of Chuckys felt so pointless when they just killed all of them off, and then introduced a supposed threat to the cast (Bald Chucky). Then just kill him off the very same episode. One thing I hated most about season 2 was how much wasted potential there was. So much could've been done to continue the story, but it just doesn't feel like a Chucky production. It feels like a very weird fanfic in my opinion. On a positive note, I did like Glen/Glenda. I liked their characters, they had a lot going for them and were interesting to me. Although I have no idea wtf they did with them in episode 8. The deaths in this season were alright, like the gore and all was pretty good. But it felt so weird and all CGI like, and so lazily made when I know that's not true. Also I feel they did Andy & Kyle dirty here man, felt like they barley played a role in this. All in all, weird season and I did not like the direction they went with it. I'm also not really excited if a season 3 comes out. So yeah thats my thoughts ig
I love that it's finally down to one Chucky again and I love GG's role. I enjoyed other stuff too. There were things that weren't the best but I love almost everything they did this season. I don't get how Chucky possessed Devon Sawa or how he blew up. I really liked seeing Andy, Kyle, Glenda, Nica, and the new trio all together. I just finished the 8th episode and the Dead Meat after show.
My girl and I liked season 1 a lot and were excited to see season 2! They shit the bed so badly in our opinion that we stopped watching after the 4th or 5th episode! They’re making everything way too silly and slapstick comedy style! I don’t mind a lil bit of that but it’s non stop
One thing I got out of it was some of the original doll heeby jeebies that got this train rolling. Meg seeing Jennifer trapped, and Glenn seeing the Glenn doll and remembering that was him when he was a kid. It creeped me out
24:34 They also made Dr Mixter a big part of Chucky's past with encouraging the young Charles Lee Ray's evil and helping in his Season 1 plan then Chucky punches and switches bodies with her and she in the doll is killed by Andy while Chucky escapes in her body.
My main problem with the show is the comedy, I thought S1 had a somewhat of a good balance between horror and dark humor but in S2 it's too much. If Don wants to add humor just try and make it like Bride Of Chucky, like going full meta is what temporarily killed the franchise in the first place. Like I want Chucky to go back to what he use to be, intimidating, threatening, and somewhat of a sinister comedian.
As a fan of season 1, i also liked season 2. Final episode didn’t do it for me, it seems like a Movie or something should be next (with conclusions to these characters). I actually liked the Kyle & Andy leave off, the church setting was nice and i liked all the variations of chucky we got .
I agree with so many things you said! This season just bummed me out, some things were good, but most of it was just too extra. I hated Lexie too in season 1, now I love her, she's redeemed herself and turned out to be a great character. Nica is awesome, Kyle and Andy are of course awesome. Tiffany, I've had enough of that character, and I love Jennifer Tilly. Hope it doesn't get canceled, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did get the ax. Great review Cody 👏✌️
I'd say ya got a damn good reason to rant. Great review as always cody. And as usual you were spot on with your views. I'd be surprised if there is a season 3 unfortunately.
I actually think some of us do know this franchise more than it's creators. We have watched these movies over snd over and over again. We know every detail, some that most actors themselves have forgotten. I wouldnt under estimate how well you know the series over the creators.
@2mellow False. Don Mancini's original idea got rejected because it was stupid. Other people got involved and changed it, improved it, and it became a classic. Now with Don 100% in control, it's horrible. Don Mancini had an amazing creation, but he's just not good at his job. Sucks to say but it's the truth
I think my biggest problem is the endgame of this series, the first season endgame was to have a chucky army so I really don’t understand why they got rid of them they didn’t explain why he changed his mind about that army it almost makes season 1 pointless. Also I don’t get Jake at this season, he gives chucky a chance after he killed all his family? That’s really weird. Overall I think Lexi felt like the real protagonist and final girl. However because we have always the hidden chucky dolls around I really don’t feel like there are stakes at this series if they have a season 3 I really hope they step up their game and maybe even kill off a important character to feel like stuff happens
he gave chucky a chance due to him being overwhelmed by guilt after his foster sibling was murdered by chucky in episode 1 of this season and this caused him to attempt to move pass this guilt by projecting onto "good" chucky. Personally I think Lexi & Devon should hate his guts for this since his shitty way of self healing resulted in Nadine being killed but I guess they forgave him for being an overly emotional dumbass for the entire season.
Damn I hope you reconsider doing the episode reviews if there is a season 3. Good or bad, I really enjoy hearing your thoughts on everything as it’s going, esp knowing how big of a fan you are of the franchise. So to me your opinions hold more weight then most an it’s nice getting that perspective
@@CodyLeachYT Yea I totally understand that. You know how this franchise has been though, season 3 will prolly be awesome!!! An then watch out for season 4 lol
@@CodyLeachYT Wanna bet Mancini does his usual pattern and makes Season 3 more serious to get people who didn't like 2 to watch again then goes right back to bad comedy if there's a Season 4? He can't help himself and doesn't get most people want horror Chucky with some comedic elements not comedy Chucky with some horror moments.
Again! You’ve hit it right on the head on everything I’ve felt about this season! I adore this franchise but this year wasn’t the best at all. Really hoping they do better next time.
Next season, I think they should plan a story out. It feels like they brought in a different writer for each episode and told them to wrap up the previous episodes' cliffhanger. Nothing was followed through or even really explained. You can cut out the episodes of the school (which were the episodes that weren't 1,4, and 8) and nothing really changes.. I'm not sure I've ever watched a season of television all the way through that got in its own way as much as this did. Shit was made up on the spot, storylines that went nowhere and a disrespectful regard of logic. The first season had a bunch of issues, but they were issues I would expect from a Chucky series. Season 2 was just terrible writing.
So wild to me that this franchise has to bite off other franchises to stay afloat. Everything has to be a reference or homage to another series. It’s like Don doesn’t know what do to anymore with his creation so he takes from others…
To me it seemed like Don Mancini just wanted to make movie references for the sake of movie references regardless if it made sense to the plot. I am thoroughly convinced that Colonel Chucky only reason for existing is so that Don can have an excuse for Brad Dourif to do a Marlon Brando impression.
Honestly, you didn't miss much. A bunch of meta, weird, and nonsensical crap. I watched every episode, hoping it would get a little better. Maybe it will if it gets a 3rd season 🤷♂️
@@jeremiahallyn4603 if somethings in a downward spiral it isn't going to get better at all. You can always trust that to be consistent. Especially in an 8 episode season that isn't episodic.
I feel like this was more of a filler season. Like season 2 of Stranger Things. A side quest that sets up where the series really wants to go. Chucky teamed up with an elementary school girl terrorizing an elementary school in New York. Killing teachers , parents and students!! I’d personally love to see that.
I dont understand what was Chucky deal with only switching bodies with women. He had Andy right there. His most hated enemy. He had the perfect revenge. Switch bodies with Andy and put his soul into a Chucky doll. The thing he has despised since he was a small child. Then torture Andy as the Chucky Doll while Chucky is in Andy body as irony. Lexi and others kill Andy accidently because they think he is just another Chucky doll. Chucky being in Andy body would have been the perfect shocker to all of this. Kyle reunites with Andy and then the stinger, Andy stabs Kyle and kills her, doing his iconic Chucky laugh in Andy body. That would be a good lead to Season 3. Hell I thought that was going to be the twist that Andy was actually Chucky and since Colonel Chucky was already killing off other Chuckys, there could have been in fighting and thats why it seemed like Andy was still Andy when really, Andy (Chucky) just wanted to kill the Colonel and other Chucky dolls that have a problem with him. Also Andy with long hair, kind of looks like Charles Lee Ray from a distance. Especailly with his rugged clothes. I thought that was going to be Andy (Chucky) new look.
@@reedpennington1556 Well if they dont have any use for him or dont know what to do with him, its better to kill him off or have Chucky take over his body to at least keep the actor around.
All of a sudden in this show, Tiffany became really campy. If her being in Tillys body makes her weirder, tell that story. Tell the story of Tiffany finally in a new body, but not just any body, it’s a Hollywood actress. I think that would be interesting, and maybe the sudden fame made her crazy. Just a thought.
I think Tiffany being over the top was funny. She’s trying to be Jennifer Tilly. That’s why she’s constantly watching Jennifer Tilly movies she’s trying to imitate her and that’s why she’s over acting and campy around people plus she’s constantly panicking when people question her behavior 😂 it was funny to watch at least for me
When you think about it in a vacuum season 2 was okay but when you consider where it leaves the franchise and what it brings to the table/establishes it is unequivocally in a worse place now imo
Your review was great Cody, which I can’t say about the season! That being said, please review the next season because you are the only genuine reviewers that I trust! Without people like you to voice their opinions it will only be a bunch of people praising it for fishy reasons!
I like this season. Only reason I do is because I lowered the bar really low. The bar has been low for me since CP3. I really miss the serious murderous Chucky. Also I really love getting more Chucky content, but the show needs to get better.
The worst aspect of the season was that I never even knew what Chucky was supposed to do the entire season. I waited episode after episode hoping for some type of reveal which never came. What was the point of Good Chucky again? Why was Colonel eating Andy's flesh? Just a complete cluster of a season.
If it gets a S3 I hope they can finally wrap up the franchise. Brad Dourif is incredibly old now, basically retired from acting, and this season it felt like they were really trying to mask the fact that he basically can't do the Chucky voice anymore, instead opting to give Chucky different personalities and new voices.
so they mask him not being able to do chucky's iconic voice anymore but having him do multiple different variants of chucky's iconic voice? I don't know if that logic makes sense lol
I definitely prefer Brad doing the voice of Chucky than anyone else but the series relies on him too much. It's easy to tell that he just doesn't have the same energy he used to.
I’ve seen many people praising it on the internet but when I ask them why and when they replied I noticed that most of them are very young or casual fans.
I can understand why kids would dig it, because let’s be real, kids are dumb. They don’t have good taste yet, more often than not. But the people who are genuinely praising it, I haven’t seen one valid reason other than “it has a high Rotten Tomatoes score.” Like..ok? And?
i can watch Season 2 and i feel that it was pretty decent, but i still prefer Season 1. and as someone who dislikes Seed of Chucky almost as much as you do, i was actually fully invested in the Glen/Glenda storyline. Lachlan Watson did a great job as both and i hope the production team brings them back as a totally unrelated character like they did with Devon Sawa. while i get the theme the season showed of them feeling incomplete/not whole, i would’ve preferred Glen going into the doll and Lachlan continuing as Glenda. i really hope they tone down the comedy and Seed of Chucky-ness for Season 3 though
I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt like this. I stopped around episode 5. I honestly felt like they should have made the show an anthology. Every new season we are introduced to a new group of teens that go up against a different incaration of Chucky.
I ranted about how episode 6 was so poorly written for like an hour straight after I first watched it and it has everything to do with how so much happened offscreen when it comes to the conflicts relating to the Colonel & Buff Chuckys but I will say Nadine's sad death at the end was something that made the episode a little bit less trash.
I’ve kinda accepted that chucky is a comedy slasher franchise after bride of chucky or seed of chucky . Some have less comedy than others but at its core. We have to accept that this series is a slasher comedy. When there’s comedy involved it can get away with not taking itself so serious . At that point it’s either you can put up with the silly comedy moments and weird logic or not put up with it .
100% agree about Andy. In an age of legacy sequels I’m surprised we haven’t gotten more Andy vs Chucky. If we get season 3 I hope Alex Vincent has a bigger role
Chucky himself was still the best part and some of the kills were fun but most of it was meh or worse I did enjoy the Lexi/Nadine friendship and Glen/Glenda were ok. However the lack of rules sucked and the plot just meandered. Nothing ever went anywhere, setups weren't paid off.
Although season one wasn't super perfect, it was a tenfold improvement over this season. Sure enough, that. I'm not aware of what went on behind the scenes. It merely appears as though they built up things at the last minute and threw them away. I dunno, it just seemed like everything were moving quickly. To Kampy, things were. Whatever, dude. I just didn't feel as eager as I did during Season 1. One other thing: I find that having so many Chucky’s is kind of boring. I live for the days when Chucky operated entirely on his own. even the time of the Bride of Chucky, like the good ol' days of Child’s play. It just feel like a Seed Of Chucky to be continued.
I am also a life long chucky fan as well. I actually became a subscriber way back on your child's play reviews and franchise ranking. That said I really disliked season 2 after thinking the first was ok. This season fell into the bride, seed, and cult camp. Which I don't like cause of the jokey tone. Chucky is at his best when he's scary to me. They really dropped the ball in my eyes. Great video Cody.
Lifelong chucky fan here. I was born the same year as the original child’s play so I think I’m slightly older than Cody. I also really didn’t like seed much at all haha so I’m in a very similar position as Cody for a baseline to evaluate this season. That being said I will admit that season 1 was better but I still had fun with this season. I thought Glen/Glenda returning was handled about as well as could be expected. I do agree that Tiffany’s characterization has gone a little off the rails. I wish Colonel chucky didn’t have quite such an anticlimactic end to his arc. I am certainly wondering if the story might be better served in the long term by focusing next season on a new area/set of main characters so that we can later on bring back the kids of this season for something epic idk.I still have high hopes for this show and didn’t hate this season is what I’m trying to say. One last thing in regards to Andy and Kyle I think Alex Vincent is focused on other things besides acting and so doesn’t really want to be the lead of the show which is unfortunate for us fans but could explain why there is only as much as there is if his character
I love the Chucky franchise more than any other horror IP because of its versatility. I appreciate how they can go scary, to whacky, or anything in between. The problem this season is the writing itself. You can pull of some downright silly shit if you right it cleverly enough, and this season wasn’t even remotely clever. Such a shame after Season 1 was so phenomenal.
So... here are my thoughts: Although the relationship between Jake and Devin was a little cliche in the first season, I had no issues with the first season. In fact, I recommend it. It was fun and thrilling seeing chucky go on a rampage again, and I loved how they ended it, setting up season 2 pretty nicely. Now we get to season 2. Spoilers ahead if you haven't seen it... but the first 2 episodes were ok, not bad in any way. I was just expecting it to get better, and in the third episode it did at first... buuut, then we get to the torture scene, and I liked that part, I thought he was just gonna give in and tell them how many chuckys were left or something. BUT no, he became a good guy for a while??? Like no pun intended but he actually became a good guy. And I'm very confused about it too, because he snaps into a bad guy again near the end. Was he never good? Was he faking it? Was he good at first, then became bad for a second, then became good again? That's not all though. Chucky becomes jacked, like buff, shit was funny, but why? Then they have an exorcist to remove the soul from a chucky doll so the very first chucky can go into that vessel. Which I guess kinda makes sense, buy then once the exorcist is complete, the priest becomes possessed, and get this... he fucking explodes.. yea, not joking.. kaboom, and literally no one was phased by it either. Then chucky dies again, but it turns out to be the old lady. Then the chucky, whose in the old lady goes into another doll. It's confusing. Long story short, the doll that Lexis sister had was chucky all along, and he does a shitty makeup jump cut swipe to reveal its chucky... oh yea, there's also another chucky doll that's like, a war veteran or something? He literally has flashbacks to a war, I'm 90 % sure Charles Lee Ray was not a part of... so that's confusing af. Yea, idk. I'm just gonna stick to the movies and the first season. Hopefully, season 3 is better...
Oh, I forgot to mention, one of the characters comes back as a ghost with a shitty angle costume, made me dislike her immediately... and I really enjoyed her character too
As Mark Hamill said bout Chucky: " I want Chucky to be Chucky. I don't like season 2. Chucky scared me as kid. I feel like season 2 is like a Robot Chicken version of Chucky
To me, it feels like Don Mancini is on a rollercoaster in terms of quality ever since Bride of Chucky. Seed was dog water, Curse was a great return to form, I didn't like Cult at all, Chucky season 1 was pretty good, and now season 2 was meh. Season 3 will probably be good if this keeps up.
Also, not only was that bully character introduced but so were the other kids. Then all of sudden the school becomes just for the protagonists. What happened to the other kids??
I was very disappointed with season 2. Chucky is a killer and he will always be a killer. I agree with continuity and this show has jumped the shark. I agree that Jennifer Tilly was much more of a lead character than Chucky. I’m not sure if Don Mancini understands how to add some humor into horror. Instead it seems that he only understands humor or horror.
While I still very much had a good time this season I prefer season 1. Season 1 took itself more seriously and felt like it had a plot vs this season where it was multiple things happening and getting rid of plot points the moment they are introduced. Lots of rule breaking and continuity issues but still I had a good time with episodes 4 and 7 being my favorites cause in those episodes Nica gets a win like for once in this franchise. Overall a 6-7/10
Surprisingly Glen and Glenda were the best things about this season. 😂😂😂 But yeah this season is way too wacky. I need it to be a bit more serious than what they're doing with it. The character development this season was bad too. Storyline wise it literally went nowhere for a good chunk of them.
I agree and respect your opinion and perspective on Chucky Season 2, I agree on them cranking up the campyness shy high, I wasn't a big fan of Buff Chucky at all(even though he did had one good kill), Ironically I didn't find him intimidating; I thought it was stupid, especially when he was fighting Scout Chucky. And I really hated the whole "Bride of Chucky" dilemma, I actually had a conversation with someone in one of the youtube comment section about, and I didn't agree with what Don Mancini did right there; it was not only stupid, but it completely ruins the whole Bride Of Chucky movie with that idea. Other then that, I did enjoyed it, I'll be very honest with you to say that I'm mixed with my liking of Season 2, I did enjoy and had fun with it, I just thought it could of been better, especially when the season takes place at a religious school; they had all the potential to make it scary; instead they made it mostly campy. Hoping Season 3 will be better, I think Don Mancini is pretty done with the multiple Chucky thing and just going to stick with one Chucky, we'll see where it goes.
Did they ever explain what happened to the scarred Chucky from Curse I want that Chucky back if we get a season 3. This season is ok but feels very different from Season 1.
Curse of Chucky: THE BEST AND SCARIEST CHUCKY FILM YET Cult of Chucky: The most weirdest and less scariest movie after Curse Chucky Series: THE DEATH OF SCARY CHUCKY
Still didnt mind the season, But it was a clusterfuck of lack of continuity of the mythology. We go from the old betty saying Thats the last ever chucky doll to her keeping on in a safe. To somehow Chucky exploding a priest he just possessed. To the Spells changing, to Andy Walking fine after what they did to his leg, So much more but i couldnt be bothered. Anyway, i didnt hate it but they need to do better, I know its Chucky but i like the shit i watch to make sense some of the time even when its about a possessed doll which doesnt.
Honestly I fell off this show. I thought the 1st season was decent and I saw the first 2 episodes of this season, didn’t fully hook me in and since I haven’t heard the best things about the rest of the season, I’m probably not gonna watch it as I’m not a die hard Chucky fan.
I immediately took the Chucky movie reference as the Christmas Chucky movie. I didn't realize that it came out. Figured the deaths on set and the events would've destroyed the movie. I love that it came out though. I do think more people should recognize him though.
Season 2 was far less interesting then the first one and what's sad is the they could have fixed so much of it if they just built up to their plot twists instead of just throwing them at you suddenly and then ending them just as quick.
Haven't seen all of S2, waiting on the bluray, but I can't help feel that Andy may be the key for Chucky later cause idk if this season ever addresses the different verses of the damballa chant toward the end of child's play when he was using it on Andy before being removed by Karen. Idk, could be a cool subversive twist that actually uses something never utilized since the OG.
Season one was awesome season 2 was crazy there was things I really like and things I didn't like at all and if we get a season 3 who knows what crazy things will happen with Chucjy and the other characters.
Totally agree with you I can’t believe how bad this show is total garbage, but still big fan of the first three Childs play movie, I just hate the whole many chucky dolls thing, whish there was just one
I'm just tired of the meta shit, also Andy and Kyle should've had more to do, I would've liked to see a flashback of Charles Lee Ray getting Voodoo training from John
I would love to see you do a video talking about some things you would have done with this season if you had control or some better ideas you would have come up with I think the fans would love to see that I would 😁
Haven’t watched the video yet, but my thoughts are propably like yours, since i found this season confusing as hell, with constant fan service and messed up storylines and plotlines :/
Yeah I think they should have spent more time in the franchise developing Tiffany . They should have had her evil and insane in two movies before seed of Chucky, Don could have made a solo Tiffany movie and capitalized on her as goth icon .Then her transition would be smoother
Thanks for the review. Agree with all what you say. I do have a theory about Tiffany being so waky now. Her relationship with Chucky, good or bad is what makes her that silly, it’s a (obvious) toxic relationship. In Birde she hasn’t been with Chucky for many years, but still obsessed, that’s why she is more “sane”, also in Cult of Chucky. But once Chucky comes back to her life she becomes crazier and even more silly

Me personally I don't like how some directors once they get free control they just do what they want and ignore what we want why some writers are like that I don't get it
18:34 Tiffany only felt like an actual character in Bride. From Seed onwards she's an excuse to make meta Jennifer Tilly jokes and nothing more.
I agree it's criminal how Andy has been used. There was so much potential in bringing Alex Vincent back and they've done nothing with him. Hopefully we get more of Andy and he can be rectified. He's the main protagonist all the way from start and deserves better.
i’m not sure if don can do his character justice at this point
Don may have put the series in a grave with this awful season. I hope it gets renewed at this point. Season 1 showed promise.
having him and kyle in the show just felt like a fan service and it was extremely disappointing to see our favorite characters get sidelined by glen lol.
Felt super rushed, half assed, and like there is no care for these characters in general, let alone Andy and Kyle. Don Mancini needs a writer and someone to filter his ideas. Or just give it to someone else. Where Chucky started to where he is now as a character and series, it’s very unfortunate.
Yep, my thoughts exactly. Don needs a writer.
My issue is why they keep having Chucky say he's the last doll when he's never the last doll.
Making 72 dolls was a waste really, just meant these chuckys are easy to kill.
@@SlasherInSuits And making it so there's always another doll makes any time he dies pointless now. When there was only 1 Chucky yeah we knew he'd back for a sequel but at least he'd stay dead a bit.
@@Xehanort10 I don’t mind more Chucky violent deaths, but yeah who’s to say there isn’t 20 chucky’s still left?
@@SlasherInSuits yea prolly
Right. It just gets pointless. They kept doing these kinds of teases throughout the season. Got stale really quick
im glad you brought up how many times they introduced new problems or enemies to the show but were solved in the same episode or the next. when the bald chucky was introduced i thought he was going to pose a big threat to the crew or even chucky himself but like you said he was killed off in the same episode so stupid it felt like a waste of potential.
the Colonel was setup for most of the season but sadly for some reason the writers thought it would be best to have him poison the buff chucky offscreen then have him get killed by Andy offscreen and have his last words be a movie reference for shit & giggles.
Lexy’s redemption arc is pretty much the only thing that worked successfully for me this season. I liked the human versions of Glen and Glenda too.
Yeah it sucks there going back into the doll. Worst part of the franchise, I wish they were just human
Lexy suuucks still
@@troyhouston8673 exactly!
This show has to have the biggest spectrum of acting skills. From terrible to phenomenal performances.
Who was phenomenal??
@@NintyGuy999 Fiona Dourif is amazing...the voice acting from Brad Dourif is also on another level, considering he does multiple voices of different Chucky dolls this season
Devon was by far the worst actor this season. He sleepwalks through the entire season. Jake is not that great either but it doesn't help that the actor who shares so many scenes with him isn't even trying. I do realize that even the best actors can be hampered by the material. One of the worst moments of the season is when they discover the bully's body. The characters don't even flinch.
@@supastar25 Alyvia also had a lot of great moments as Lexy, she was easily my favorite character this season
That last episode went off the rails in every way possible... season 1 was better I feel.
Definitely!
Nah i disagree i felt those characters were insufferable
@@merksmovies25 Glen and Glenda were interesting characters. Now we got that stupid doll version back. As for Nadine, Devon should have died proving he was right all along, Jake losing his live and setup nobody is safe on the show.
@@vonVile the show this season tanked in every imaginable way.
Technically Glen/ Glenda aren't dead.

This is why I’m a fan of Cody- over thirty minutes of explaining where you stand on a movie / show so even if I sometimes disagree I can never say I don’t see exactly where you’re coming from- bravo 👏🏽
I DESPISE when people say,
“It’s just a show/movie, why do you care so much??”
As a person who has used horror films (The Halloween franchise in particular) to get me through some really hard times in my life, I can empathize with being extremely disappointed by a franchise that means a lot to you.
@@Xehanort10 The whole concept is a "joke". It was ALWAYS a "joke". Maybe you just didn't get it.... I for one love the show.
@@sideskroll Gotta love pretentious people who defend bad seasons of shows with "No it was actually good and deep. You just don't get it."
Well this season not better than the first season this season seem to give closure to the Seed Of Chucky I just want to see serious Chucky again Curse was the closest we got to Child's Play Chucky but I did like the twist of Dr. Mixter being the mastermind behind season 1 events.
Here's what I would have done for S2:
Tiff keeps Andy at gunpoint, forcing him to actually get the dolls to their destination.
"This! This is the TRUE power of Damballah!"
The group stares in shock and Andy is the first to break out of it.
Only thing I would add would be a scene of a very burnt Kyle following two red-headed college students and taking notes....
before Don begins doing anything in the future for Chucky. He needs to watch the first 4 movies, so he can at least remember his own lore.
I binged the whole season in one sitting and I'm not sure what to feel about it but I do know the first season was a lot better.
The first season was awesome, but it's seem that the writers smoked dirt when putting together season two. I eagerly watched episodes 1-3, but episode 4 went so far left field that I actually dread the thought of sitting through the rest of season 2, and I brought the whole season on Prime😬😬
@@myerstyler8997 you think you can get high on dirt? Go big or go home.
@@2mellow35 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think they tried
I give this season a C- I really thought this season would be better than the first but it's not it's not an 100% bad season my main issue is they introduce character that are are already or almost established and then they killed them off or bring characters back (Jennifer Tilly) only for them to get killed off like there's no point.
Pretty much my only issue is how fast characters die. To me its a B rating.
Shows don't usually get this messy or have a really bad season until season 3... That's gotta be so frustrating 😕
hopefully season 3 is better
100% Agree. The Belle/Chucky reveal in the finale was one of the stupidest fucking things ever lmao
That was an obvious rushed "final twist."
This season was pretty much a Seed of Chucky 2 kind of. lol
Season 1 was classic . Every episode was interesting and the concept was intriguing
As a fan of season 1, i also liked season 2. Final episode didn’t do it for me, it seems like a Movie or something should be next (with conclusions to these characters). I actually liked the Kyle & Andy leave off, the church setting was nice and i liked all the variations of chucky we got .
Honestly how exactly will Chucky’s story end? The franchise feels like a never ending story.
Yeah tbh, I think overall making it a tv show has been more of a bad idea than good
I agree with so many things you said!
You'd be dumb to think you know anything more than its creators considering they know the original direction.
My mind can change in a year. It was just miserable talking every week about how turned off I was.
I enjoy hearing Codys thoughts on the Disney+ shows. His opinion holds a lot of weight tbh and his rants are legendary
@@Xehanort10 Sadly, I don’t think Don will ever be able to comprehend that lol. He just does what he knows best sadly
Haven't watched season 2. I don't regret it.
Honestly, you didn't miss much. A bunch of meta, weird, and nonsensical crap. I watched every episode, hoping it would get a little better. Maybe it will if it gets a 3rd season 🤷♂️
You should still give things a try. People love to be critic's but need someone else to push them in a certain direction to form "their opinion"
@@jeremiahallyn4603 if somethings in a downward spiral it isn't going to get better at all. You can always trust that to be consistent. Especially in an 8 episode season that isn't episodic.
Also, I just noticed in the episode where Tiffany (in jennifer body) k*lls Meg, there’s a Seed Of Chucky poster next to the shadow of Meg, Weirrrrd!!!
I feel like this was more of a filler season. Like season 2 of Stranger Things. A side quest that sets up where the series really wants to go. Chucky teamed up with an elementary school girl terrorizing an elementary school in New York. Killing teachers , parents and students!! I’d personally love to see that.
What I loved about this series was nadine and the return of glen and glen was what made me watch but the ending disappointed me
I dont understand what was Chucky deal with only switching bodies with women.
Had Andy been killed off, that would’ve ruined the franchise for a lot of fans. Including me.
@@reedpennington1556 Well if they dont have any use for him or dont know what to do with him, its better to kill him off or have Chucky take over his body to at least keep the actor around.
Apart from a few things it was Seed 2 in TV series form rather than film form.
Seems to me OTT and campy is the only acting Jennifer Tilly can do now.
I think Tiffany being over the top was funny. She’s trying to be Jennifer Tilly. That’s why she’s constantly watching Jennifer Tilly movies she’s trying to imitate her and that’s why she’s over acting and campy around people plus she’s constantly panicking when people question her behavior 😂 it was funny to watch at least for me
@@Dani..663 The self referential "She plays both Tiffany and herself" jokes weren't funny in 2004 and aren't funny now.
I loved it, and I also agree with everything you said at the same time. I could literally feel people tuning out as the season went on
When you think about it in a vacuum season 2 was okay but when you consider where it leaves the franchise and what it brings to the table/establishes it is unequivocally in a worse place now imo
And?
@@skyofthelivingdead People still take Rotten Tomatoes seriously?
@@Xehanort10 unfortunately. They’re usually young and/or can’t think for themselves though. To me that automatically discredits their opinions.
@@skyofthelivingdead Sky is your profile picture what a girl Good Guy doll would look like? A Good Girl doll so to speak.
Welcome to the sonic problem folks lol
i can watch Season 2 and i feel that it was pretty decent, but i still prefer Season 1. and as someone who dislikes Seed of Chucky almost as much as you do, i was actually fully invested in the Glen/Glenda storyline.
Really feels like don is doing what he wants versus what the fans want
100% agree about Andy. In an age of legacy sequels I’m surprised we haven’t gotten more Andy vs Chucky. If we get season 3 I hope Alex Vincent has a bigger role
Don Mancini is this franchise's Achilles heel.
Chucky himself was still the best part and some of the kills were fun but most of it was meh or worse
I did enjoy the Lexi/Nadine friendship and Glen/Glenda were ok.
Oh, I forgot to mention, one of the characters comes back as a ghost with a shitty angle costume, made me dislike her immediately... and I really enjoyed her character too
Don’t forget the fruit cakes
As Mark Hamill said bout Chucky: " I want Chucky to be Chucky. I don't like season 2. Chucky scared me as kid. I feel like season 2 is like a Robot Chicken version of Chucky
Bingo
To me, it feels like Don Mancini is on a rollercoaster in terms of quality ever since Bride of Chucky. Seed was dog water, Curse was a great return to form, I didn't like Cult at all, Chucky season 1 was pretty good, and now season 2 was meh. Season 3 will probably be good if this keeps up.
Also, not only was that bully character introduced but so were the other kids. Then all of sudden the school becomes just for the protagonists. What happened to the other kids??
exactly !! then later on in the season they explain that they went on lockdown
But yeah this season is way too wacky.
Kyle Said in season 1 she took care of it, so I guess we can assume its dead
@@yoshikaiyk17 Yeah she killed it then pointed out to Andy that it was a bit fucked up to keep the head.
Curse of Chucky: THE BEST AND SCARIEST CHUCKY FILM YET
Cult of Chucky: The most weirdest and less scariest movie after Curse
Chucky Series: THE DEATH OF SCARY CHUCKY
The best episode this season was the dinner theater with tiffany. And that's the one most removed from the plot.
I take your review and opinions seriously bc you are indeed a Chucky fanatic!
I've been watching this series for over 30 years and I'm baffled by what it has become. I miss the tone of the first three movies
I can't wait for the thing review!
I didn't expect another video from you on this series lol... but glad you did.
Even the chant they kill.. “and switch.. switch.. switch switch switch”
There's so many unanswered questions.
Like, who was inhabiting the Tiffany doll when the bus crashes. It wasn't Jennifer tilly was it?
well i assume it was Tiffany and she also learned the soul splitting spell too
Glen and Glenda were the highlight of the season for me. Super disappointed in the outcome there.
11:50 I hated that Jennifer And Friends episode.
Nica and Tiffany feel wasted.. episode 1-2, 8 and maybe 3 were my favorite episodes in this season.
