Cool, awesome distinguished, handsome group men. I love and am very fond of jazz drummers. This awesome distinguished drummer makes your talented band speak to audiences all over the world man! You are so gifted with indescribable talents. God richly bless you John and all of your blessed precious band members. God loves all of you very much men. Take care!!!👍👆🏻☝️
I've never seen him bring together a bad line-up. Maybe the fav of all I've seen was Sco, Joe Lovano, Anthony Cox & John Riley (I think it was John) at a museum amphitheater in Concord, MA but ALL his groups are killer.
Citron AE5 Steve Swallow model. They go for $8700 (usd) - not even the most expensive mare in the Citron stable, so I'm betting they play like silk. I dig the sound he gets - it ain't MY sound but it suits him.
I saw this trio at the Blue Note 2012-ish - Scofield was fantastic. Full stop. The drummer's bass drum and attchments kept sliding toward the edge of the stage, and he was moving it back after every couple tunes - no matter he played flawlessly And the bass player, who's probably been a great player since before I was born, he didn't miss one note all night. I'm a rocker, but I sure enjoyed these guys
1. 00:00 How Deep [based on "How Deep Is the Ocean" by Irving Berlin) 2. 06:12 Chicken Dog (Scofield) 3. 15:03 Everything I Love (Cole Porter) 4. 23:26 Pretty Out 5. 29:55 Trio Blues 6. 34:52 Someone to Watch Over Me (George & Ira Gershwin)
from 10:09 to 10:16- best damn "outside" runs I've ever heard. Of course, with Sco its all on the fly. When people say "you can't make this shit up" - show 'em Scofield Live. He makes it ALL up for a couple of hours and it's all impeccable. Long Live "Fly Scofield" :)
How often can i watch this trio over and over again before i get bored? I'm still finding out, no luck so far. This is maybe my favourite trio of all time
John Scofield is my guitarist. The best...his playn is be bop and blues but him play modern and experiment various style-----penthatonic diminish and playng to flutting are extraordinarius.I listen the firt solo's on the long playing of miles davis and I think...but but-Fulminato-John scofield is a genius of jazz
I must admit that John Scofield is one of the most iconoclastic Jazz-rock composers for his truly unique concept of composing. His harmonic ideas are somewhat brilliant. Between learning his tunes and Steely Dans' I've stolen a good bit of new ideas. I still don't think Warren Haynes has a clue tho.
In a world of Jaco clones & in your face Slap, Krackle & Popper I find it refreshing. Almost in the school of Warne Marsh & Lennie Tristano: less about embellishments or left-hand inflections and more about note selection and well-crafted lines. His stuff is always deceptively simple and tasty.
All of it is filled with Sco! Artists evolve, play in different contexts! Is this better than when he played with Billy Cobham? Miles? Metheny? All different contexts! Like what you like, none better or worse imo, just a chronicle of one man's journey. Enjoy the ride! #GoSco!
Bill Stewart's is totally awesome. His right hand on ride is such a beautiful driver for the music.
One of the best guitar trios in history

1980 I was lucky to see Scofield, Swallow and Adam Nussbaum. I have seen Scofield with all bands since he is the sound track of my live
I've never seen him bring together a bad line-up. Maybe the fav of all I've seen was Sco, Joe Lovano, Anthony Cox & John Riley (I think it was John) at a museum amphitheater in Concord, MA but ALL his groups are killer.
Steve Swallow's bass is beautiful !

I've seen this video a few times.
If i'd watch this every day i would still be shocked as i am now.
Incredible, always been a fan of scofield and but this trio is something else!
WOWWW..... I don't like Jazz ! But this is...... Never boring...... WOWWW !!! Driving in a parallel dimension !?
John Scofield tends to be my favorite jazz guitarist,he corresponds to both eras of old jazz's and innovative jazz's sound.
Try Bill Frisell. Charlie Hunter
Steve Swallow! Yeah, man! Your work with Burton will forever shine as beaming example of listening to play. Don't listen -- you ain't playin'.
WOW !! Absolutely awsome
The living legends!!!!
These three players were made for one another. They fit together seamlessly.
Stewart makes those Yamahas sing man. Consistently amazing tuning of his sets.
Few are painting with notes so beautiful as SloSco ... amazing trio.
That's a beautiful way to say it
@@veramaes9890 Thanks!

I love how Bill Stewart is “the drummer” in this instance.
1. 00:00 How Deep [based on "How Deep Is the Ocean" by Irving Berlin)
2. 06:12 Chicken Dog (Scofield)
3. 15:03 Everything I Love (Cole Porter)

Sco has a style that can't be duplicated.

Great trio. Great performance. John Scofield's style and tone are unmistakable. Thanks for uploading.
Wow, all those beauty-full notes ❤! Thank you for uploading!
Swallow is Lemmy of jazz bass playing :)
Steve Swallow looks like he's in heaven.
First timer ever that I see Bill Stewart smiling during a gig, and with reason! [see at 09:31]. Great trio!
Desde 13:38 hasta 14:50 es música celestial, inspiración pura!

Bill Stewart! Midas touch.

The bass' lines are for sempiternal listening!!
Great Gig !!!!!!
Swallow's bass tone is brutal. It feels like riding a Mack truck.
But his sound is so unique, you know directly it's him.

Just watching him use a pick is revelatory.
OH yea and so fucking good, awasome feeling
It’s incredible,agreed 😊
My heroes!
Very nice
Manicero on 17:27 ? Nice!
It's fun trying to name all the tunes JS quotes in his Trio Blues solo
The one that cracked me up the most was his quote from an Old Spice commercial!
quel swing ce swallow 11:20
yep
Steve Swallow is really submerged in this bass thing isn't he?
always gotta put on a different set of ears with each couple of bars from Scofield
Sweet lines.
Welldone🎉
MASTER
You're kidding in the middle of one of the greatest bass solo's you stick a commercial
It's not the uploader's fault. Just download adblock for your browser.
Also, still is a bass solo
I mean, that's what bass solos are for...😇
*я всегда говорил, что настоящие басисты, особенно джазовые, играют медиатором)*
whew!
2;22-2;25 How did he play that lick???
Sounds like hybrid picking, not sure. Fine playing!
I knew it! Even jazz musicians do bending
and jazz bassist play with a pick!!!
👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸
Chicken dog 6:10
34:45 Vinnie Colaiuta's brother :P
Who would have thought that Macaulay Culkin would become a great adult drummer in his thirties jaja!!
Had no idea Greg Kinner could play the drums.
33:54 Frank Zappa?
Dus it gets any cooler ?
4:57
He plays better today than he did with Miles, obviously.
To quote Thomas Műller: “In my changing room, we call the place ….. ‘Neverkusen’! “ 😂 #niche
prefer his tone on this performance
john is amazing...same goes to agati and bendy (new fusions cats...).
wow du bonbonsssssss so tasty
I want to die and come bask as JS's left hand.
Thumbs down? neanderthal.
🤪
I prefer Scofield with miles davis, his play was better
No :-)
