  • I had some redworms leftover from my last trip so I headed over to a local canal in Davie looking for some Salvini cichlids which I've caught in this area before. While most of the Salvini cichlids were rather bland in color, three larger samples ended up on the end of my line that were absolutely beautiful. Looking at these Salvini cichlids it is easy to understand why these are so popular in the aquarium trade.

Those Salvinis are gorgeous fish. And such a pleasant stop for a bit of microfishing. Thanks!

Thanks. I'd like to eventually get some tanks set up. Not in a point in my life where that's possible right now though. Hopefully one day.

I'm surprised ya'll don't have Rio Grande cichlids we have tons of them here in the New Orleans area.

We have them in Florida, just not southern Florida. I think they're in the Orlando area, maybe a little north of there.

I like to visit a friend in Sebring a couple times a year. Could you tell me where I could find these canals? Just for catch and release.

I don't believe they can live in brackish water. They're native to the streams and rivers of Central America.
